The Average White Band (AWB) is a soul, funk & R&B band originally started in 1972 from Scotland & they continue to tour today (2021) with 2 original band members remaining in the group...They are not a one hit wonder either...They were the 1st "white" group to ever play "Live" on Soul Train because they're so soulful & funky!!! Here we just enjoyed "A Love Of Your Own" - In Concert where they performed it at The House Of Blues in Los Angeles, California; But here are some more of their hits: "Pick Up The Pieces," "Cut The Cake," "Person To Person," "School Boy Crush," "Cloudy" Live 6:36," "Work To Do," "Queen Of My Soul," "I'm The One," "Walk On By," "Atlantic Avenue" and "If I Ever Lose This Heaven." Sincerely, CR SoundDoctor

These are the” Boomers” that the younger generation loves to dismiss by saying “ok boomer”. This generation is made fun of and dismissed by a bunch of ignorant children. Thank you for taking the time to explore what the baby boomers have to offer.

I agree with you too, when a band performs live they have to "bring it," you can feel the emotion & the passion with how they not only sing the song, but how they play their instruments!!! They all killed it but the Saxophone Player took it to another level and another thing that I found special about this "live" version was the way they took their time at the beginning with how they provided a different "intro" to the song that you don't get on the classic original studio/audio version (which is very nice too, I love them both!!!)...

The Average White Band are a Scottish funk & R&B band that had a series of soul & disco hits between 1974 & 1980. They are best known for their million-selling instrumental track "Pick Up the Pieces".

Hi again Chest Crystal, Without seeing them, most people have thought that they were a black group because of how soulful they sound. I imagine you were glad you got to see them live, because a lot of people have reacted to this band's name in a similar way. Please keep in mind that their name was never meant to have any negative racial connotations, they started in the early 70's back in Scotland and their name was birthed from a quirky joke, as they had a friend that traveled to a lot of different places around the world, upon his return from his journeys he would make statements like: "the weather there was either too hot or too cold for the "average white man." They heard things like that so many times from this guy, that they thought to themselves, hey let's call ourselves the "Average White Band!!!" I learned somewhere in another comment that makes great sense about the marketing of their name using the word average: "under-promise" but "over-deliver!!!" And wow, do these guys ever deliver the soul & the love!!!

Hello, enjoyed watching your video. Hoping you’ve gotten a chance to listen to a live performance of this song performed back in the 70’s, or the original studio recording. This performance is great, but the performance by the original members back then is even better in my opinion. It’s an amazing song!

Check out Cloudy and If I Ever Lose This Heaven for more of their romantic songs, then crash into the funk with Cut the Cake, Pick Up the Pieces and Schoolboy Crush. Scottish funk from the 70's. Try to find the studio versions if possible. You won't be disappointed!!!

Alan Gore on that bass…underrated, undeniable. Eliot does the best as a replacement for Hamish, wish he would have stayed with the group! Dig him with Daryl, but I love him singing upfront better than that new guy they have singing now with AWB.

This is ok but when Hamish Stuart sings it its on a much much higher harmonic level. In not an Elliott Lewis fan who took Hamish Stuart's spot and who wrote the song with a co writer
