CC years back Playboy Magazine had once a year there was a form in the magazine and you could vote, they made up an imaginary band like Count Bassey or Ray Charles on piano, someone else as drummer etc. And then 1 issue they would show the peoples vote 4 that year. The first 2 years in a row when AWB's came to the US, the 2 saxophone players Molly Duncan and Rodger Ball were the alto and tenor sax's players, at that time that was a great honor, they are from Scotland, music is universal, new subscriber Great channel.

Thanks Wilbur! This means a lot to me. I appreciate the feedback, it really helps me get to know the band that much more. Music is definitely universal and a great way to bring everyone together :)

Hi CC, Sorry I missed it yesterday because I didn't go on RUclips at all...but I'm here for it today and as you can see, you can't go wrong with AWB!!! Here are the answers to some of your questions: The Average White Band (AWB) continue to tour today (2022) with 2 original band members remaining in the group, the line-up of musicians/singers has changed, but they continue to keep their legacy alive!!!...They are not a one hit wonder either...They were the 1st "white" group to ever play "Live" on Soul Train because they're so soulful & funky!!! Here we just enjoyed "A Love Of Your Own" - Studio Version; But here are some more of their hits: "Pick Up The Pieces," "Cut The Cake," "Person To Person," "School Boy Crush," "Nothing You Can Do," "Work To Do," "Queen Of My Soul," "I'm The One," "Walk On By," "Atlantic Avenue" and "If I Ever Lose This Heaven." I'm so glad you also reacted to this studio version, "kudos" to you my friend!!! Sincerely, CR SoundDoctor

"Cut the cake," I'm not going to ask, but I'm certainly curious. You have a marvelous taste of music. Thanks always CR!

@@ChestCrystal LOL!!! "Cut The Cake" will give you a taste of their up-tempo dance music it is soulful & funky too!!! When it was played back in the day, the dance floors would get flooded with people!!! Once again both their vocals and musicianship are featured on that track. There's an actual video available on RUclips of AWB playing "Cut The Cake" live on Soul Train or you could react to the studio version as well because it was the Title of one of their Albums. Just say the word & I'll send you the Links...

Awesome song and reaction. Romance is certainly dead in the music of today, it seems. These guys certainly do draw you in with their vocals coupled with that sax. Oh my god. What a soulful journey. I would add that if you enjoyed this song that you would also enjoy "Would You Stay" by this group as well. Vocals and sax on that song are second to none, though not as recognized as this song. Hope you take a listen to it at least. Also recommend the studio version as well.

My favorite R and B song straight up and period ,heart felt a one time capture ,many people have attempted to cover this song out of admiration, some have claimed it to be their own but I'm sorry some songs are at their best with the performers who did it from the heart!

Hello again CC, Here's the link to the studio version of AWB's "Cut The Cake," and of course it is totally up to you to decide which version to react to: "live" or "studio" or both? We support whatever you decide...Have a blessed day!!! Sincerely, CR SoundDoctor

Check out their live Person to Person album. Those live versions of Cut the Cake and Cloudy are amazing! Cut the Cake is about 30 seconds longer, so it is a tiny bit slower and funkier. Cloudy sounds way better than the studio version. It almost sounds like a different song!

Many thanks for the studio version and your reaction. I prefer the studio versions for all of their work. The production is so lush and the vocals are intoxicating. Don't overlook the other side of this band. Schoolboy Crush and Pick Up the Pieces were huge on the charts. Oh, almost forgot, their remake of the Isley Brothers' Work to Do Is Incredible!!!
