Have to say i love all your videos and content but.. This video i think has to be one of the best besides some of your Gig Log's, Keep up the good work Now i have to do my case like that awesome Tips, love the idea of having the ports on the back of the case great idea!!
Web!!!!!! I have been waiting on this vid for a hot min cause I have a similar case for my Sx2 and you have gone above and beyond Sir! The case setup is dope and I know you can't wait to showcase it!! Great Vid!! Didn't even feel like it was 30 min!!
Great video as always Rick. For any of your viewers that don't want to solder (or can't), they can get custom cables from NLFX Pro and save themselves a lot of work. For a few bucks more, have it done professionally.
Excelente propuesta, y lo mejor de todo es que reduces los tiempos de la instalación del equipo en los eventos. Muchas felicidades. Salu2 desde Toluca, México.
you are doind an awesome job, you deserve all theses followers. my advice is that it can be a false good idea to have bare plugs outside the case like that. theses cases are not only there to protect from chocs, they are very important to protect from dirt, dust and humidity. I can't remind how often the roadcase ends in the snow (calcium) or in a wet or muddy area. It is very crucial with the DJ controller that goes out everytime you go out.
Rick 4 things 1) Audio Cable Tester $30-$50 2) Heat Gun $10-$15 strip your wires back just a little farther and use small heat shrink tubing on each wire then the big tube. 3) A electronic work vice $35-$50 4) flux POWER CON Cable.... Great Video
+Jimmy Spin 1 ans 3 didnt want to pay. 2 left my heat gun at my house in ohio. And 4 yeah flux would have helped a ton. And lastly yeah I got caught up in the brand
Wanting to do something similar to my case as well. Seismic Audio sells those audio jack in like a "patch" version no soldering needed. Just plug in xlr and go. My question is are there any sound difference between that stay and traditional sodering?
Yo this inspired me to do something very similar with my case for my DDJ RB and if I upgrade in the future my RR Will also have this case modification. Love your vids and DJ Barr's vids.
Love your channel. Just a suggestion, add the dust cover for the female xlr inputs on your case. It adds protection. Also, where us the video on the power con build?
I would highly recommend a power conditioner. My other guy has the golden SZ2 and was running some JBLs without one and one of the JBLs died from dirty power in the middle of a wedding.
Hey Rick, Nice video by the way, After you modify your flight case for the Neutrik flush mount and the power cord, Do you plug this direct to the wall outlet or do you plug this to Surge Protector? I am adding a Furman Power Rack conditioner instead of the DBR Rack PA2.. Thank you in advance sir.
Hey thanks for the cool video you reordered for us i am about to do same upgrades on my odyssey case for my DDJ 1000 SRT i have a question about the router wifi your using i have a QSC Touchmix8 and i am using my Ipod Air to do my settings i have not used it on any gigs yet so i am at home and my TouchMix8 mixer is connected to my Home WIFI i am not sure if i need the router you have is what i need when i go to gigs i can set up my QSC TouchMix8 with my Ipad Air is this the case your using the router ? can you explain thank you in advanced
Yes you need a router when at gigs like the small one i put in my case. This will not have internet but it will allow the qsc to talk with the ipad over wifi.
I’m not going to cut up a decent cable and potentially mess it up 😆. Can these be purchased pre made anywhere . Obviously I’m in the uk so would have to look a bit closer to home 😅
Hey Rick Kia ora from New Zealand Im about to set a similar system up but I use the DDJ1000 and I have the DBX drive rack2, question I run either just my two JBL 15's or them coupled with 2 X 18' Subs so I understand the need for the Highs and Lows, what would I use the mid range on the DBX drive rack for? thanks Zane
On my sx3 case I only have an inch high of wood to drill through-is this enough for the xlr mounts because I know that they are a little bigger than 7/8... hoping for a perfect fit-I have an odyusa case
On mobile gigs when people make requests and DJs play one-off requests from phone (I do that quite often), then are you connecting the phone to one of the channel on the mixer or connecting it to the drive rack?
Yes, indeed. So I'm going to have one of the mixer channel dedicated for the phone. That makes sense and that is what I do now anyway. Thanks again for answering :)
srx812p or srx815p. I don't think you're a dj that would do the 835p. I would also look at the rcf art 745a if you're interested in 15" powered boxes. Nice choice with the Driverack PA2. quick correction, it's a powercon cable by neutrik (noytrick). I also wanted to ask about your backup system. what is your backup for your mixer? If it goes down, can you be back up and running in under a minute?
+Blake Whiting I guess I need to make an update on this topic. I did a video on back up systems ruclips.net/video/LKddSTYf1Bs/видео.html but that was back with the vms 4.1. Everything is backed up in some way at all times and it would take max 1 minute to get music back up. In moat cases 10-30 seconds for the switch over.
Rick, for a 2 speaker setup how would you connect the drive rack? Or for a 2 speaker 1 sub setup and 2 speaker 2 subs setup? Where are you connecting your tops and subs? I have a small setup with just 2 EV ZLXs for smaller gigs that I'd like to connect. And for bigger gigs there are sound guys most of the time and they take care of audio balancing and all from their mixer, but I'd like to get a drive rack to get self-sufficint and have the ability to connect more than 2 speakers with my system itself.
+Arijit Chowdhury so you would set up multiple saved set ups on the deive rack one for each of the combinations you said. You would use the 2 high out puts for both tops. And then for subs either use 1 low out for 1 sub or both for 2. The out puts can be configured to bw mono or stereo for the 2 highs and the 2 low.
Ok got it Rick, and thank you very much for replying. So the mid frequencies (although we are not using the mid) will go through the 2 Highs and low frequencies will go through the Lows? The EV speakers have a on-board DSP and there I can configure the crossover. So if I configure in the speaker that anything less than 100KHz will go to sub and then when I'm using the DBS unit Lows to connect sub and Highs to connect top, it should ideally work? Am I understanding you correctly?
+Arijit Chowdhury with the drive rack I would just set the ev dsp to full range. You can configure all the crossover points in the dbx rack. The rack lets you run all the outputs (2 highs 2 mids and 2 lows) at any high or low cross over points. Just because the outputs are labeled as high mid and low does not mean thats what frequencies come through rhose outputs. You make all the outputs do what ever you want
What are the dimensions of your case? I am looking to build a similar one myself too, with similar goodies like you have but my mixer and player combo makes a dimension of 46 inches wide, 15 inches deep and 6 inches tall. The Denon Prime series, which I want to get eventually (use Traktor S8 at the moment). So want to have a case ready first before investing in the gear.
DJ Rick Web thank you, the reason I ask is because I use the dbx gorack and when that is on my mics sound muffled and weird. The drive rack your using may fix this issue.
Got a quick question. I have the neutrick powercon cable to power my case. How much would you charge me to make one of the powercon connection with the surge protector on it.
Instead of using a flame on heat shrink.... try using a hair dryer, they put out enough heat to shrink it without risking melting it or any of the cable insulation behind the heat shrink
Love these vids making this my Thanksgiving Project? Question what are you plugging your powered speakers into? A separate strip on the floor? I’m asking cause thinking about adding similar power outlets to the case for the speakers too.
Hi DJ Rick Web I accidentally stumble on your RUclips channel after an exhaustive search on power speakers and DBX Driverack PA2. Presently I am using the Pioneer DDJ-RZX & DDJ-SZ2 controllers, (4)JBL PRX 715/ (4)PRX 718XLF speakers, Allen & Heath Zed 16FX, and BBE 882i maximizer. I've always wanted to upgrade to the DBX Driverack PA2 with my sound system but wasn't sure if it was a good idea. Do you have any suggestions? In the past, all I've used are passive speakers with Power Amps and processors. I await your response. Stay bless!
But what I am asking is whether I can use it on my setup? Because I noticed you do have the Pioneer controller and the DBX PA2. I researched the DBX PX, but this product has been discontinued. In other words, can the DBX PA2 work for me?
Good video! But...How the hell you conect your network?...i cant get any conection to my tablet even if i enter the ip addres manually on the dbx app... Thanks
+Argenis Rodriguez not sure I understand the question. Did you connect your driverack to a wireless router via the ethernet port? Next question did you plug it into an auxiliary ethernet port on the router not the internet in ethernet port? Hope that helps
DJ Rick Web besides dust caps, do you have to be careful transporting your the case so the connectors don’t get busted? They seem to stick out a bit. Thanks for the video though, very informative!
DJ Rick Web you could use it if there is a house audio system / a rented system where a processor or a sound tec. This way you wont have to change the presets every gig.
Have to say i love all your videos and content but.. This video i think has to be one of the best besides some of your Gig Log's, Keep up the good work Now i have to do my case like that awesome Tips, love the idea of having the ports on the back of the case great idea!!
+Sweeney Music thank you and yeah could take it a step further and add mic ports as well.
That would be another great idea! Possibly even add some kind of DMX system in your case For your lights !?
+Sweeney Music yep. If I had space and always used my show express with my case I would have put it in. They sell usb ports you could install as well.
Yeah Should look into those usb ports for your case, I no what im going to order right now.
I give u props on this.. you're a mad scientist..
Web!!!!!! I have been waiting on this vid for a hot min cause I have a similar case for my Sx2 and you have gone above and beyond Sir! The case setup is dope and I know you can't wait to showcase it!! Great Vid!! Didn't even feel like it was 30 min!!
+Dj Jay Book good to hear the video keeps attention. That was ny fear making it this long
Great video as always Rick. For any of your viewers that don't want to solder (or can't), they can get custom cables from NLFX Pro and save themselves a lot of work. For a few bucks more, have it done professionally.
+DayNNyteDJs good info to pass along!
Great build bro! very very detailed.. I found out after i did mine that they sell those xlr cables already soldered to the neutrik connector nowadays.
+Supreme Team yeah I saw them as well. Figured I save a little and make it more exact for my case
great video man. very detailed. can't wait to see the next gig log with all the new equipment.
Whats good Rick. Really appreciate the help. Salute
Excelente propuesta, y lo mejor de todo es que reduces los tiempos de la instalación del equipo en los eventos. Muchas felicidades. Salu2 desde Toluca, México.
I would fit a tiny fan for inside of the case to be safe with outside gigs
+jonathon lesko very good point and actually I discovered the dbx rack actually produces quite a bit of heat
He should have just got amp rack for your Dbx drive rack and your Microphone receiver!
See what I have now that I have transportation space

i really appreciate this video, because I wanted to do one for myself a while now
+Ewart De Jonge good luck send me pics of the finished product
rick your the man great vids extremely useful and informative please keep the vids coming
very proud of you young man absolutely great job!!!!
Wanting to do something similar to my case as well. Seismic Audio sells those audio jack in like a "patch" version no soldering needed. Just plug in xlr and go. My question is are there any sound difference between that stay and traditional sodering?
Not much
Love the videos man always entertaining me and teaching me new things
I use neutrik connectors and kester rosin core solder best solder made
1. It's a powercon cable 2. It's a "noytrick" connector 3. JBL Srx
+Renigadecrew neutrik is the manufactor of the power con connector. And there one of the top manufactors of power con
DJ Rick Web yea ik just was saying that neutrik makes more than just powercon lol.
+Renigadecrew good point and correct on 3.
Yo this inspired me to do something very similar with my case for my DDJ RB and if I upgrade in the future my RR Will also have this case modification. Love your vids and DJ Barr's vids.
Great video man! Hopefully going to do this soon to my DDK SX2 case! Always appreciate your videos man!
Hope you come back to do the full reveal or a new build.
Featured in the gig logs. But also new build with a 1000 srt
Love your channel. Just a suggestion, add the dust cover for the female xlr inputs on your case. It adds protection. Also, where us the video on the power con build?
I put in the power con in this video
DJ Rick Web my apologize, I over looked it.
Great build and video mate!
THUMBS UP
from me Rick..👍🏻
i'm your latest SUBSCRIBERS..🇸🇬
I would highly recommend a power conditioner. My other guy has the golden SZ2 and was running some JBLs without one and one of the JBLs died from dirty power in the middle of a wedding.
All power prior to running into the case goes through a power conditioner. That way I can run more than just my sz internals off a $200 conditioner.
DJ Rick Web gotcha
Detailed instructions. Thumbs up :)
Rick why not an IEC connection for power so you can use any length cable you need from your existing selection
Great video mate.. how heavy is the case now..?
heavy I would say about 60 lb. Thankful it has wheels
Normally into a Furman power strip first
"Moving on to cable 2, right Todd?"
"I fricken hate you"
lmao
+Tim Harjo roomates are the best
I was wondering what's the dbx for I was seeing if it's something I should buy I wasn't sure it is for pa speakers or something else
jbl srx series
Thank you very much for this!
looks dope man

I just found the link for the 1u odyssey case uses to secure it firmly
www.odyssey-parts.com/product-category/rack-case-parts/rack-rails/
Ricky how do you use the wireless router for your dbx drive rack
Just plug into the drive rack and connect to that router.
I’m not going to cut up a decent cable and potentially mess it up 😆. Can these be purchased pre made anywhere . Obviously I’m in the uk so would have to look a bit closer to home 😅
Nlfx pro makes them!
@@DJRickWeb thanks :)
Hey Rick great video! How did the top of the case fit with the SZ being raised a bit?
+Daniel Salas fit great all I had to do was cut the foam that goes in the top down a bit to match the raise.
DJ Rick Web perfect thanks for the response! Looks great!
Great video. I need to send you my case.
+DJ PROD!GY lol I should start a new business.
Hey Rick, besides that rack for your sound system...what do you recommend I use? I have a pair of RCF EVOX 12’
You dont need to use anything. What I have is just over kill.
show us how you scratch your mixes on it.. that be dope
Great Build!!!
Flux for the soldering!
what made you go with a Neutrik plug over the standard IEC plug?
Locks.

Please watch my video on how to setup the driverack pa 2
How much would you charge to send over those xlr and power cord completed so that way all i have to do is drill them to the box ?
Hit up NLFX pro they have them for sale on there we site
Very useful thanks
What terminals did you buy? I see they say 16/14. I got some of those at Home Depot but they do not fit all of the connections on the powecon inlet.
I bought the plug and took it to Lowe's and got the right size terminals.
I wasn't sure that the dbx is for is I should purchase it or not
Nice video Web, I was thinking about getting a drive rack but my setup is small 2 eon 618 with 1 prx718.Do you think it's worth it?
+Denzil Ross the amount of parameters you can adjust is unparallel to just stock speakers. But maybe a gorack is more something you could use now
DJ Rick Web thanks man I'll check it out & keep them videos coming👍👍👍👍👍
What foam spacers did you used?
Came with the prox case
Great job bro.💯
+DJ PARADISE thanks
On my sx3 case I only have an inch high of wood to drill through-is this enough for the xlr mounts because I know that they are a little bigger than 7/8... hoping for a perfect fit-I have an odyusa case

how heavy is it now since you put the stuff in it.
+Marcus Franklin bout 70 lb

I am not sure what song that was. Too long ago
DJ Rick Web that's alright thanks anyways, I'll just ask Google

Does the sub harmonics mess with the mics?
No as mics normally fall well above 80 hz. Sub harmonics mess with low frequencies between 20 and 60 for the most part
DJ Rick Web thank you, the reason I ask is because I use the dbx gorack and when that is on my mics sound muffled and weird. The drive rack your using may fix this issue.
