Nice job. I recommend purchasing a can of black plastic dip spray and spraying the top of the pick and pluck foamso is it seals it and doesn't breakdown with time. You can still alter it in the future if you need additional spaces but the plastic dip will create a bonded layer on the top.
That Is Awesome! I think you should put some different colored tape around your mics so you know which is which when people are toasting. Then you can adjust levels to suit from a distance
Nice work! I have something very similar, I have a set of handhelds and lapel set. I also have my dj copilot light controller installed and a slide out drawer too. Now, inside the drawer, I have a mini mixer that controls my mics, I have a section for both handhelds and for my lapel packs. In the back, I mounted a surge protector and connected all power to it. So when it comes time to setup, I pull out the power cord, XLR outs to my power speakers. In the mixer area, I connect my iPad/iPhone/dj controller. Been using it for 4 years now, with no issues.
Awesome idea! I would've included a rackmount mixer like the XAIR from Behringer to make ceremonies easier and you can control and eq from ipad but its good overall!
Yep. I was thinking the same thing. That way you wouldn’t need to disconnect your antennas. It daisy connects the antenna cables so you would only need 2 antennas for both receivers. I have the Shure SLX microphones and they have much smaller antennas. I can fit all 4 on my rack case, but in your situation with the larger antennas I would use the antenna combiner to run only 2.
Agreed. I just built a very similar case for QLX-D mics. Got an RF Venue DISTRO4 to combine antennas and power receivers in a single 1U device. I chose to mount the antennas on the front because the rear is usually facing away from the stage, but I usually hook up an external paddle diversity antenna anyway. Also, go for panel connectors in the back so you have nice labeled XLR outs for each mic. Since the QLX-Ds are networkable, you can also put ethercon connectors on the back if you want to use Wireless Workbench to coordinate/scan. I also opted to put a locking powercon connector on the back panel as well.
Watched this video on Friday, and immediately ordered a 4U Gator case. It arrived today (Sunday) and I’ve installed my microphones and recorder. Still waiting for my Furman power supply to arrive. Should knock a bunch of time off of set up and tear down. Thanks for the information!
Very nice. I just built a 4 mic ceremony system using the 6u version of that case. You know those 1/2 wave antennas will store very nicely in the lid of that case. No modification needed ; )
I built myself one of these years ago. I finally stopped using it because it was taking up too much space (transporting, setting up etc...) for me as a mobile DJ. It was fun at first, just not small enough for me when I started downsizing my setup. ~DJ 2Legit
nice build, just a couple of things: racks r measured in Us (surge protector, mics, & patch that's all 1u, whereas the drawer is 2u) and the antenna extender cables r called BNC cables
I would have had both cable outputs as XLR but then have a few adapters in the draw of XLR-to-1/4" TS Jack variants, so you have even more flexibility. And those sort of adapters are always handy to have about anyway for any situations where you end up needing to have some.
Nice.I have two wireless mics, receiver,a 8 channel mixer, cables to two controllers, auxiliar cable for a phone or tablet cable for a wired mic , out signal cables ,hdmi splitter, everything power by one ac cable in a smaller made by myself road case.
Nice job. You should label your g50 and H50 antenna bands on your plate so as to avoid mixing them up. Also add a cheap 4 port unmanaged switch and cat5 for easy Wireless coordination.
I did a similar set up with a rolling 4u rack but my drawer holds lapel mics, batteries and a battery pack for the recievers. My antennas are on the user side so the side facing the people is always closed. I use mine for wireless battery powered ceremony system.
Great video! I'm currently doing something similar with my wedding ceremony system and I'm considering that same rack case. A bit of constructive criticism though... You may want to figure out a way of cushioning your tripod or whatever your camera is mounted to. Every time you throw something down, the camera vibration is very distracting. I've noticed this on a few of your videos.
Couldn’t agree more! Mic clean up is the worst!! Only thing worse is taking down a T-bar full of lights. Also couldn’t you have Daisy chained the mics so you only had to use I pair of antennas?
Inspired me to try to put one together myself. I didn't see a shelf in there to mount the receivers onto. What did you use to mount them? Thanks for the content. :)
Decks? You mean rack spaces? Great video. I fell in love with my 2u SKB Studio Flyer so much that I bought the 4u version just incase they ever discontinue the line (which they did)
Can you fit 4 cordless mics and a slot for the antennas in that shallow drawer? I'm thinking about adding this drawer, but I have a 4 mic system and not sure they will all fit. Thanks!
Where do you plan on sitting this? I ask cause i used to have something similar but ended up going with a gator bag cause it’s lighter and easier to get out of sight.
Question; I’m looking to add an additional mic to a Shure SLX24 which includes a beta58 let’s say the receiver operates on a H15 band(freq) does the second mic hafta be listed as the same band or could it be any band such as J3 for example? I understand I can only sync one mic at a time but I’m interested for versatility
Great looking case. I am a mobile dj in the MD area. Would you be interested in building a similar case for me? I need a case for 2 mics and power strip. Mostly need it for ceremonies.
Can you build a cooler to keep the laptop cold in the summer outside weddings above 100 degrees??? Maybe something that you would put some dry ice inside maybe???
Nice job. I recommend purchasing a can of black plastic dip spray and spraying the top of the pick and pluck foamso is it seals it and doesn't breakdown with time. You can still alter it in the future if you need additional spaces but the plastic dip will create a bonded layer on the top.
Exactly what I've been researching. Placing the antenna rack on the back makes no need for a taller (more bulkier) rack by needing an extra space.
Might be useful to cut out some holes in the rear bracket for XLR’s so that you can just plug in your mics from there. Great job on the build.
That Antena Holder is exactly what I've been needing!
That Is Awesome! I think you should put some different colored tape around your mics so you know which is which when people are toasting. Then you can adjust levels to suit from a distance
Smart thinking, Barr. You should consider putting all your gear in a Odyssey case. Roll in, plug in. Unplug, roll out.
Nice work! I have something very similar, I have a set of handhelds and lapel set. I also have my dj copilot light controller installed and a slide out drawer too. Now, inside the drawer, I have a mini mixer that controls my mics, I have a section for both handhelds and for my lapel packs.

you should get a 3U blank panel and make a patch panel for your outs on the back. would make the whole thing look cleaner
Why didn't you get a combiner antenna cable so you only have to use 2 antennas instead of all 4?
dint know that was a thing lol
Bayardo A Rugama some have power distribution as well.

Combiners for the win , not the tiny Y splitter combiner junk though , the real deal like the UA844
oh man I'm glad I saw that SKB case update you did. Looking to update my ceremony sound now and that case does look good
Watched this video on Friday, and immediately ordered a 4U Gator case. It arrived today (Sunday) and I’ve installed my microphones and recorder. Still waiting for my Furman power supply to arrive. Should knock a bunch of time off of set up and tear down. Thanks for the information!
Probably one of the best built!! Bravo Barr

I did this same thing last year! so nice to have everything in one ready to go case!
I'm trying one with power distro and antenna combiner and a 1U mixer. I want quick and easy ceremony setup!!!
I appreciate your video vlogs and this video is very informative. Thank you! 🙏🏽
Great job with video,...
Thank you so much!
Any suggestions adding an eight channel mixer to cut down on setup and tear down.
Thanks 🙏👍
This has to save you a ton of time at gigs!
I built a rolling one last year. Great work.
Wow great video I bought the case last year but this takes it to another level Thank You
Lol I was dying . That was me every night after a show. Thanks for the advice man.
Bro metiste por separado los inalámbricos? Siempre no se unieron ?
I enjoy all of you videos... I've been wanting to to do this for a while, thank you so much!!! Great video!!!
nice build, just a couple of things: racks r measured in Us (surge protector, mics, & patch that's all 1u, whereas the drawer is 2u) and the antenna extender cables r called BNC cables
Are all BNC cables compatible with different receivers? I’m having a hard time finding a pair specific you the Sennheiser EW-D
I’m looking to do something similar that can hold my ceremony mixer and mics. This would take up a lot of space on my reception table setup.
I would have had both cable outputs as XLR but then have a few adapters in the draw of XLR-to-1/4" TS Jack variants, so you have even more flexibility. And those sort of adapters are always handy to have about anyway for any situations where you end up needing to have some.
One thing I would add is a led strip to light up the front so u can at night.
Great video! Do you get any drop out with 4 of those antennas?
What kind of psychopath doesn’t put the power conditioner in the top???Haha jk. Nice job 👍🏻
Cole Haaf I actually moved it when I got done filming lol it’s on top now
I thought the same thing but I figured you did it because of the antennas being on top. Looks good tho
def helps with heat dispersion.
And why not spring a little more for the power conditioner with the pull out lights for those dark venues
That is exactly what I thought. I just ordered pretty much the same setup for my mics, although I went for the Furman with lights.
Are the cases stackable?
They are
Awesome build. I've been kicking around this same idea, but I might use a different style box. Same end result, just a different look.
Sick set up bro 😎
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Hell yeah Barr ! This is a badass setup #Goals ! 🔥💪🏾
Nice.I have two wireless mics, receiver,a 8 channel mixer, cables to two controllers, auxiliar cable for a phone or tablet cable for a wired mic , out signal cables ,hdmi splitter, everything power by one ac cable in a smaller made by myself road case.
So for ceremony. What type mixer do you take your mic signal and laptop to first ? Or do you go direct to the speaker ?
Awesome video bro. I’m wondering will this work on a shure SLXD2/B58 dual receiver?
Nice job. You should label your g50 and H50 antenna bands on your plate so as to avoid mixing them up. Also add a cheap 4 port unmanaged switch and cat5 for easy Wireless coordination.
Trying to build my mic rack too but what is a g50 and h50?
That was nice bro. I need to get organized too
Hey brother nice setup are you still using that skb box or did you change for a different brand let me know thanks
What kind of brackets did you use to mount the receivers
I did a similar set up with a rolling 4u rack but my drawer holds lapel mics, batteries and a battery pack for the recievers. My antennas are on the user side so the side facing the people is always closed. I use mine for wireless battery powered ceremony system.
Is that a 2 unit or 3 unit drawer?
Good stuff...simple and clean.
Very nice concept.
Inspired me to try to put one together myself. I didn't see a shelf in there to mount the receivers onto. What did you use to mount them? Thanks for the content. :)
The receivers come with mounting hardware that you attach to its chasis. The receiver is then able to be attached to the case mounted rails
What brand and awg are the power extenders? I see them vary in size. Amazon Link in discription is no bueno.
Great video do you remember how long were the power extenders? Any issues since building the case. Thinking of building something similar. Thanks
Extenders 1ft. As for issues I would recommend getting a different case. This party SKB is not good. I would recommend getting a gator case.
@@BayardoRugama Thanks
I’m thinking of a similar set up to use for ceremonies. Would a laptop fit fine on top of that with Hercules starlight?
What is the cable type called that he is using for antenna extension at 8:02?
would the mics fit in a 1u drawer?
I had trouble finding a drawer that short to fit in to the rack case I needed a 10 inch deep drawer no luck yet finding that.
Decks? You mean rack spaces? Great video. I fell in love with my 2u SKB Studio Flyer so much that I bought the 4u version just incase they ever discontinue the line (which they did)
Looks like my microphone rack... it is cleaner and faster to install... i got my rack build for 5 years... got job guy... best greats from germany
Where did you get those short power extenders?
-Power Extenders: amzn.to/2SMveOF
Barr its been 2 years, you still rocking the QLXD ceremony rig?
you're awesome ! I will try do the same. Good job and thanks for sharing !
So cool !! Been thinking of making one
That is an awesome idea. Thank you for sharing, I was thinking doing that for my system.
Brilliant idea djbarr
Hey Barr nice clean setup can you add the link for the batteries?
Nice bro.. I got a same case and I used it to my microphone too and is awesome very safe and clean...
where can i order the brackets for the microphone ? the ones you are using in your vid?
Dope project bro!
Did you use the shallow gator drawer?
How did you cut the foam for the mics so nice? is there a tool or trick to doing this?
The foam is pre-cut with a small grid. You pick/cut out the spots you need gone.
Good job 👍🏼
How long are the cables you have that are hooked up for power/XLR?
How are the QLX mics working?
Saw you put a review on the sk8 case? You hated it? I almost bought it untill I saw your review. What do you use now?
Can you fit 4 cordless mics and a slot for the antennas in that shallow drawer? I'm thinking about adding this drawer, but I have a 4 mic system and not sure they will all fit. Thanks!
How do you have 2 microphones with only 1 XLR out? Or is one mic XLR and one is 1/4 inch?
Any recommendations for a 1u /1 microphone system ? I have the same case but just want to use 1 mic system
there are 1U 1/2 fillers if you are using 1 mic unit.....I hope this helps
Bro I cried so hard when he said “barr the builder” 🤣🤣🤣
Very clean and nice, not sure it will be any quicker.
DJ Barr what is your review of your QLXD microphones ? Should i buy one? Can you do a video review please. Thank You
Great build. I have a similar set up.
More of an assembly than a build but still a fun video.
You got me there lol
Your the best at what you do and it's very informative to the DJ world.
Nice vid! I noticed you only plugged an antenna into one of the outputs on the back of the receiver. Do you only need 1 per receiver?
Any issue with no foam on the top of the mics? Won't the hit the top metal of drawer in transit? Or if upside down?
Do a review on the Denon Prime stand-alone DJ controller
silly question. what did you use to dice out the foam to fit your mic in the case? razor blade or something?
Awesome video..
Where do you plan on sitting this? I ask cause i used to have something similar but ended up going with a gator bag cause it’s lighter
and easier to get out of sight.
Wow that is nice Bro I love it
Wait, do you plugin in the xlr and 1/4in into dj controller?
Looks good 👍🏼 How you connecting the mics? Straight to your mixer or are you using a separate mixing board
Great video Barr 🔥👍 i might need to build me one 🎤
Question; I’m looking to add an additional mic to a Shure SLX24 which includes a beta58 let’s say the receiver operates on a H15 band(freq) does the second mic hafta be listed as the same band or could it be any band such as J3 for example? I understand I can only sync one mic at a time but I’m interested for versatility
Man, that mic rack is dope. Hey Barr, what do you use for your ceremonies? (mics)Thanks.
He didn’t use the qlxd base plate to mount the receivers properly
Great looking case. I am a mobile dj in the MD area. Would you be interested in building a similar case for me? I need a case for 2 mics and power strip. Mostly need it for ceremonies.
Where did you order the qlxd single space rack mount kit?
Flawless DJs the single comes with the microphone
Sorry did t say it clearly, I meant a link to double one you used in the video to mount to QLXD side by side...I saw the rear antenna kit
B
Can you build a cooler to keep the laptop cold in the summer outside weddings above 100 degrees??? Maybe something that you would put some dry ice inside maybe???
Yeahh! So cool
