The first season of the American superhero television series The Boys, the first series in the franchise based on the comic book series of the same name written by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, was developed for television by American writer and television producer Eric Kripke. The season was produced by Sony Pictures Television in association with Point Grey Pictures, Original Film, Kripke Enterprises, Kickstart Entertainment and KFL Nightsky Productions.
The show's second season stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Kapon, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie and Aya Cash. The story continues the conflict between the two groups with the eponymous Boys, now with the aid of Starlight continuing their efforts to defeat Vought despite being wanted by the government. The conflict is worsened when Butcher learns that Becca is still alive and she is being held captive by Vought with a superpowered son fathered by Homelander. Stormfront, a new superhero with a secret past, joins the Seven and subtly promotes her message throughout the world, with the hopes of convincing an unwitting Homelander to lead Supes to world domination.

Just be patient guys... lol I know right, easier said than done, but u will love it & still more story building to come. This whole show just keeps pulling u in more & more & the writing is just that good that u sit and wonder at certain points did they write all these scripts out in one day on day one when obviously u know that's not possible. I'm glad u enjoy this show. It really does have a lot of depth to it!
Also, 2nd thought I will tell u this.. they never do anything for "random" if that helps w you w the head popping scene, especially w this show as u have already seen. Everything is done and shown for a purpose!!

Perfectly balanced as all things should be.
I laughed at Black Noir's weakness. It's not that crazy since Superman has his rock allergy, but it was so unexpected.
At the end of the day, they're just human babies given roids
Irl the actor who plays Black Noir has to carry an Epi Pen for same issue... so they wrote it into the script.

For the record: Black Noir wanted the IT Lady to throw away her Almond Joy in an earlier episode! We thought is was just a funny scene, but is was foreshadowing / set up.

@@janemary8339definitely and that’s where the homelander and butcher parallels began in the show. Butcher is willing to rid of anyone who gets in the way of his goals same as homelander.
Yep Butcher and Butcher’s dad were both in Lord of the Rings. Also I bet Becca would have introduced Ryan to the world in her own way at the right time. I find it hard to believe she didn’t have a plan in place. With his powers at that young age I think he’d be a danger to others.
They surprised me when they realized he is Denethir, but It wasnt until this comment i put Eomer and Butcher together. Pretty embarrassing with the number of times ive watched the Trilogy
For some reason Becca has always been somewhat demeaned by Mr Quinn and various other reactors, making problems where none exists... the kid is years from being a rebellious teen, having the psycho Homelander and his even more psycho Nazi girlfriend just drop in and deliberately break his relationship with his mother is inexcusable. Regarding Ryan never having faced any bullying... well thank goodness for that! That's exactly why Becca wouldn't want him interacting at that age....
just imagine how a bullied *_supe_* kid would react! Ryan's upbringing does need guiding, not just dropping him into the middle of everything. Kinda like throwing him off a roof...

If anything he'd resent Homelander if he really gets it, bc the main reason they're stuck in this situation is bc of him, how volatile he is etc.; also Vought barricades aside, their home life seemed more than fine tbh

It's been a while so i could be wrong, but i'm pretty sure Becca and Ryan aren't allowed to leave the Vought compound. So even if she wanted to show him the world she couldn't. Sure she could always just tell him about it, but then its a case of the kid knowing he's effectively a prisoner and that there's more out there he's not allowed to see and how that affects his psyche.
Ur exactly right. They cannot leave that entire community area (aka Volgelvaum's / Vought's) secured compound is under heavy surveillance. She could get out , but the better question is if she should take herself & Ryan out into the world. They will find out soon what happens is all I will say so not to spoil.
Jack Quaid is just awesome at the concept of comedic timing. Even the director comments about his delivery say he really knows how to say a line to make funny out of sometimes nothing.

Yes it was. Quinn hunkered over because f his hangover and Oaks cheesy smile after giving him water boy. Hahaha. Made me laugh. I don’t drink, but maybe I’ll buy some just to support these guys
I started skipping through, saw a freeze frame of that hilarious smile while raking leaves, and went back to watch the whole ad read. Put a smile on my face.
Now we know the Almond Joy was there for more than just product placement! Also, I love that Oak is still rocking that Edward t-shirt 🤣
I think the important thing to note about the situation with Becca is the opportunity she has to shape Ryan's perspective and principles. She is trying to help him form who he is as a person and what he believes in before she introduces his powers - which could have an impact on him viewing himself as someone with a responsibility to control himself, instead of a superior being with gifts he can use however he wants. Personally, I think she was doing a great job of showing him love and compassion as a mother first. I think she still has time to make the transition into more serious topics as he grows into a teenager. Obviously, Homelander and Stormfront want to manipulate Ryan while he's young and indoctrinate him with the same beliefs they have, which are ultimately violent, hateful, and self serving.
It was mentioned by Lamplighter that he used his entrance to sneek in (implied) underage girls to Vought Tower. That was what Mallory was using to blackmail him.
14:38 Direct mocking of Scientology here, they do this shit left and right as soon as any member has any doubts about anything organization does. Then they either stalk you or blackmail you with the initial personal issues that made you seek their help in the first place.

You've commented a few times on the amazing quality of the storytelling. How you could take away all the blood and the crudeness, and you would still have a deeply engaging show. A lot of credit for that should probably go to the show's creator, Eric Kripke. Not only does he have exceptional skill crafting meaningful stories with surprising character depth, but Kripke has a reputation for fostering a positive, family environment. His previous work includes the five-year arc that comprises the first five seasons of Supernatural. And several actors from that show have current or upcoming roles in The Boys.
Karl Urban was also Eomer the lead Rider Of Rohan in Lord Of The Rings as well.

When talking about an older sibling leaving a younger sibling in an abusive home, I'm pretty sure Oak was thinking of Legend of Korra Season 1. I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't watched, but that is a perfect example.

I've seen a lot of reactors say that Butcher was bluffing when he said he would kill all the Doctors family, he really wasn't, Butcher is not a good person, thats what many people don't or can't see, Butcher is a monster, just a non supe one
How can one not see it? The whole plot with his father & brother is about this, and him eventually choosing not to go down that same path any longer when he finally realizes this truth. Butcher is a product of his environment, just like Homelander, or Stormfront, or all the other fucked up characters.

U can actually tell that Homelander is genuine about Ryan and was listening to Becca. The problem is Stormfront is now his partner and can easily talk him out of that by suggesting she'll be a better mother for Ryan.
This episode also proves to me thay Butcher and Homelander are almost the same. They both are ruthless when it comes to what they want or love. They both have one weakness too.

The worst part about this episode was waiting another week. but I really loved how they showed how easy people are fooled by propaganda in the beginning because it mimics reality.
Oh, by the way, Karl Urban is cast as Johnny Cage in the Mortal Kombat 2 sequel...and they are still filming it... and one more episode to go till season 3!! Lets go!

I will watch it for Karl, bcs he is good in everything, but the 1st movie was so bad. Even 1995 version was more enjoyable than the 2021.
I'm having a hard time picturing him as Johnny Cage but I def feel like he can pull it off, ig they're just going straight for an older Cage instead of starting with a young cage like the games did.

I dont think becca had much of a choice in showing ryan the rest of the world, she was forcd into living secretely because of homelander (who was becca's boss) as well as is extremely powerful, her life is dictated by the abusive father of her child who she has dedicated her life to raising. Also ryan at some point has to learn his father isnt a good person but beccas isnt sure she can do that

Fairly certain the hand scanner thing is a dna reader, not a fingerprint reader. As in just the body itself, its just set up to register the hand shape as well. Thats just what i assumed, i dont think they ever mention it HAS to be fingerprint of the hand, but who knows

As for the court scene - I don't think it was a SUP killing everyone. At least not the one asylum sup that misted everyone. I think it's the same thing that happened to that one FBI lady that randomly had her head explode in that one previous episode.

Just because her daughter passed away of Alzheimer's doesn't mean that her daughter didn't have super powers. They were surprised that stormfront didn't age...
Clearly she has been given more Powers since she first gained Powers because she showed no signs of having electrical powers at all during the flashback episode where you realize she's older than you think she is.
Also it stated that superpower people can't have children at all and then she had a child and a grandchild...
Now who's to say if that wasn't his child before marrying her or something else however clearly she raised them as her child.
