The first season of the American superhero television series The Boys, the first series in the franchise based on the comic book series of the same name written by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, was developed for television by American writer and television producer Eric Kripke. The season was produced by Sony Pictures Television in association with Point Grey Pictures, Original Film, Kripke Enterprises, Kickstart Entertainment and KFL Nightsky Productions.
The first season of the series stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Kapon, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, and Elisabeth Shue. The story takes place in a universe where most of the superpowered individuals are recognized as superheroes, but in reality abuse their powers for personal gain, information the public is kept unaware of. The series follows the eponymous Boys (led by Billy Butcher), a group of vigilantes looking to bring down Vought International and expose its corrupt superheroes. When his girlfriend is accidentally killed by A-Train, Hughie Campbell joins the Boys to get revenge against the Seven. Meanwhile, Annie January is forced to face the truth about those she admires, after she joins the Seven, led by Homelander. The Boys attempt to stop Vought from receiving government support for superheroes by uncovering the company's secrets. When Hughie and Annie begin a romantic relationship, the conflict is muddled despite the two of them initially being unaware of each other's affiliations.

Well you missed all the Nazi insignia in Stormfront's costume AND her name is Stormfront xD It's a Nazi term. They did a good job of sort of taking our attention away from it by making it seem like she's some sort of progressive feminist, but she didn't think she was equal, she thinks she's superior to everyone lol. When the show was airing this was the moment everyone went, "wait... why is she only killing black people... and foreigners... waaaaaait...." Haha
In the comments it was a lot more obvious.

Fun Behind The Scene Fact: The actor who plays Butcher, Karl Urban was actually driving that little boat while the other cast members were actually riding inside. Karl's driving was so wild and crazy that the rest of the cast were absolutely terrified. The scared looks on their faces were totally real.
i remember in an interview jack quaid (hugie) was scared shitleess, but he was at the front screaming stop, but they couldn't hear him. but fr mustve been amazing for big karl

After she killed the first black family, then we see the second lone black man in the staircase, I realized her deal. Kimiko's vengeful eyes say everything.
That was about the same time I realized it. The "yellow" comment just cemented it. I don't get the obtuse nature of some who don't realize until further episodes in. Like they don't want to believe it.

It was the same for me, with the man on the stairs, I was like "Oh, she's destroying a _bIack_ _neighborhood._ Yikes." And it's kinda frustrating when I see reactors (mostly wh¡te and American) being unable to recognize the hints. (for context, I'm a latin@ from Chile, South America. Not even from the US and still was able to notice the obvious implications).

However it is also just pointing out that white people are often not cognizant of the racial undertones that exist in everyday life and media that people of color and people from other marginalized groups know to recognize. It’s not their fault, but it just speaks to a level of white privilege to not have to be aware of that and to be able to live life without having that kind of experience. Yes having color blindness in these instances are good to just see people as people, but it is also bad because it speaks to a level of ignorance and lack of awareness of the experiences of others.

Look up what StormFront means. They tell you who she is from the start but most people don’t know what it is. I was in utter shock during this episode!

I literally did a research paper on that website and didn't even realize. When I finally made the connection I was mind blown it really shows how well they did making an analogy out of the character.

I knew about Stormfront and was confused about them live streaming and being in the show, then I just thought she had just a very unfortunate name. She had me even more fooled by referencing Pipi Longstockings. But when she blasted that family I immediately knew what was up. lol
Absolute kudos for how they did this because it is such a good parallel to how modern Neonazis use social media to push people towards their narratives.
Extra fun fact: Her actress, Aya Cash, is Jewish.
The fact that the actress received threats from fans is proof that she did a phenomenal job playing Stormfront.
And the irony of it all is that she’s Jewish…who is playing as a Nazi lol.

In my opinion Stormfront killing innocent people in the apartment building wasn't so much, if at all, about having casualties to blame on the "Super Terrorist/Villain." You guys picked up on the racial slur she used when killing Kimiko's brother, now go back and take a look at the family she killed and the random man in the stairway she killed. I think she had a very different motivation for killing them which she later spun to her own advantage.

That’s the kind of people he saw as true ‚Arier‘. So that’s why Stormfronts comment about Homelanders blue eyes should have rang a bell. It‘s not just a random compliment like you said you get often lol

When I first watched this back in 2020 I was so blown away with the reveal! Crazy how good The Boys flipped a character full 180 👏😂 from growing on you to instantly hating that she grown on you

For those who did not get the canary reference: Miners used to keep small birds with them n a cage underground to check for scentless gases. f the bird dropped, you went in too deep and need to get the hell out.
Near the beginning of the episode, when they were discussing the movie script. The comics they showed were a homage to the original story from the comics. It isn't a direct piece of the comics but the way Mayve and homeland were drawn was very similar to the comics. Have fun enjoying the rest of a series, we are all excited for the forth and final season!

Did you guys hear what Stormfroht said as she killed Kimiko's brother? She callsd him "f-ing yellow bastard," which is a totally racist term. She killed those people because they were black and worthless in her eyes. It was cut from the RUclips edit so I'm guessing you might have missed it.

What gets me is she was confrontational and rude from the start. When she goes on the "People should stop trying to be nice" diatribe, people react with a "Ha ha, she's so quirky!" but then are surprised when she does not-nice things. The signs were there from the beginning.

The thing I feel about Homelander that will get hinted at in other episodes is Homelander isn't racist. He merely views humans as a lesser form of life and inconsequential to the life of a Supe. As long as that Supe isn't disabled and is good at what they do he doesn't care what color they are. It's like in fantasy where humans view elves/dwarves as lesser beings or in sci-fi where humans view alien life as lesser than their own. Not any better but it is an interesting facet of his character.

Stromfront in the comics is male btw. and no electric power. Basically in name only they shared but the rest of this Stromfront is her own character.

There's a big hint about who Stormfront is in her name - though it might take a google to find the information unless you're a certain type of person. It's also the name of one of the biggest white supremacist internet forums which is also the first major racial hate forum on the internet. Something I didn't know until googling about her and finding that instead, but note that all the innocents she killed here were racial minorities and she's a big social media user. Makes total sense to use that name.
Btw... there's one thing common in all the episodes.. I think.. Hughie is always covered in blood.. lol

When the show first came out, I wasn't super interested in it. It was full-on Superhero overload at the time. I watched a few episodes and kind of just gave up on it because I was watching other things.
Went back and watched it again about 2 months ago, and got hooked and binged the whole series in like 3 days. Such a damn good show with awesome characters, acting, and writing.
boy did the flip the script on all of us (well at least they did for me) coz i REALLY liked Stormfront 🤣 like, new favorite character kinda deal, and then BOOM !!! first time i was like "AAAW MAN does she had to be racist ?? can't se just be evil ?? 😭😭"

I was annoyed with Stormfront since the beginning. This episode surprised me, but I wasn't as shocked as most others. I mean, she was literally talking sh*t about Vought and they surprisingly let her go on. And she victim-shamed Starlight telling her to ''stop complaining and just bite the guy's junk off'' like it was that easy.
Also I dislike when people are constantly on their phone, so I couldn't like like her. I missed the clue that was in her name though.

I won’t spoil anything but if you go back and listen to what she calls the brother and see the ethnicity of the people she killed in the building… yeah you can kind of start to piece together what kind of a person she is.

I am confused by how many reactors pronounce Kimiko that way. Mesmer says, "Her name is kim-MEE-ko, by the way." Karen Fukuhara says kim-MEE-ko in interviews, etc. Maybe it's because of how Frenchie says it, I suppose, but no one imitates his pronunciation of Hughie or Butcher, etc. HaHaHa ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Kee-MEE-ko. The "i" is pronounced "ee" in English and the stress is on the second syllable. American vowels tend to be a little soft and even drawled at times, so we'd probably say it "Kim-ick-o". It's why people freak out so much when American's pronounce Japanese wrong especially, but it's not like Asian people are nailing our names either, lol. My Taekwondo master called me "Eban" instead of "Evan" and I knew him like 8 years.
