LoR is seeing record sales and yet Riot is talking about highs and lows and how tough a year its been. It is my hope that a similar Q&A in 2025 is one where these Riot employees find their stride and go on to produce quality content without clearly facing as much stress and pressure as they did in 2024.
You have to bear in mind that this was the same year that they dropped the State of the Game video where they announced discontinued support for new cards in PVP. This was also the same year where a lot of cuts were made (vo's, flavor text, the dev team etc.) getting new cards out, so calling this a year full of "highs and lows" would definitely be appropriate. That said, I'm pretty hopeful for the future of LoR. Looks like they're finally profitable and the sneak peeks of QoL's, Events, and new PoC champs all look crazy exciting.
@@LoRVoiceLinesYeah, really did question why they dropped off literally all that was poriftable. Glad they have more ways to make money but man, there was a long period where battle passes were just non existant and that alone probs had a big effect.
As someone who now exclusively plays POC, it still leaves a hole in my heart with no new skins, emotes, unique battle passes or even the old ones like they said. This was a game I was fine putting monies but i don’t see myself putting anymore in. It feels weird to spend real money to upgrade a card for poc. I hope later on they’ll offer discount in the store for the regular store cosmetics not the just special stuff so I can grab an older skin or emote if I play pvp again for the emote. I really believe this game will continue to get better since it’s one of my favorite and been playing since the beta and even made some video of it

I think marketing has been really effective within the LoR players! I hope that with more cool videos and marketing we can see this same success in the card game market, gaming market, and more. Also big hoping to see Elder Dragon constellations >.>
PVP is still there buddy. You can still play it, well, while it last at least. So many people still playing it too. It is less than a minute of matchmaking.
they neeeeeeed to bring back level up animation, it feels insulting to not have em cuz if we look at the recent stuff like rictus and his splash? yeesh, i can probably do that job for free
After reinstalling the game and playing a few hours of path of champions, I totally forgot how much fun this game mode is. Unpopular opinion but, by now, I think poc is by far the main reason for the downfall of pvp
We don't know their plans for next year, lol. Plus a record sales for the game doesn't mean it's big enough to justified more budget. Remember that they have always been running at a loss. So if they finally be profitable that doesn't mean much.
@@Maotrix-RandomGameStuff even if they are positive. They still have to recoup the loss from many years prior. In finanncial's term. We would call it accumulate losses. And they need to make up for all of that before the higher up feel confident enough to give them more budget.
@Maotrix-RandomGameStuff i doubt that they will ever try pvp again. Even if they are profitable. Making pvp again would immediately make them into the red again. Simply because they can't monetize the pvp like how they do pve.
