Yeah her ult icon was flashing with a cooldown that was in sync with the urgot ult timer, I wonder if you're expected to "recast" the ult by hitting R during that, or if her own ult would override it.
I’d say bug due to practice tool itself (it wouldn’t be the first). Second case simply can’t be because to recast they’d need to temporarily change one of her abilities to the reflected one. Even if they assigned it to her W after reflecting, take for instance she reflects thresh grab and lee sin’s Q at the same time. How would you expect to recast? they gave her a weak early game thats how dev keeps all champs from proplay, they said in pro the early game is everything thats why we dont see that much scaling champs in pro and when we do they have 100 supports to well support them
I honestly don't think it will be that bad. After all, it's not "almost every ability" as there are a ton of champs and kits that don't have a single projectile. And many projectiles she doesn't want to reflect like Nautiuls Q or AmumuQ. So this spell is a hard counter for certain spells, but entirely useless against others. So, she will only be meta if other meta Champs have strong projectiles that are worth bouncing back. And we also don't see a lot of Braum in play, despite him too countering projectiles. Not to forget that she's a midlaner and there are many other things she has to do to be playable.
They will definitely switch the W for her R like with tahm kench but obviously they will make the champ overtuned for no reason except to buy the skins
Been playing league since 2017, and nah, I don't think it's unbalanced. Dota 2 has this ability on AM (with insane 3s cd and shareable with shard upgrade). There's also an item that does the same thing, but doesn't block, only reflect, with reflect duration of 6s. Both are honestly super situational uses. In pro play, they just auto that reflecting motherfucker down. You can reflect spells but you can't do jack shit against getting hit.
17:58 after reflecting Urgot ult although it didnt use the second part of his ult, it did highlight Mel's ult not just lighting it up for her passive but with a timed box around the border. Maybe she still needs to recast to get the execute? otherwise not sure why they'd show it in the champion showcase video lol
Do we know how damage is calculated for abilities like Veigar R? I saw it said 70% of original dmg but is reflected Veigar ult going off of Mel's missing health when Veigar ulted or Veigar missing health when Mel uses W? If Mel on 100 hp but Veigar full hp, does Veigar get one shot by the reflected ult?
its not exactly reflect, more like recast based on enemy items like it was viego stealing and casting it (but with debuff that lower dmg by multiplying it by 0.4/0.7)
@@anruplay Im really curious if thats really the case, like take Jinx R, it scales with distance traveled. Does it remember the travel distance on the moment of reflect or does it start counting anew? Or maybe its broken and the distance doesnt count at all?
I'm confused about Urgot R, the trailer showed it executing but it can't happen here? Was the footage from another version where Mel could recast proyectiles or something?
"She is beauty, she is grace and yet she reflects every projectile in your face." Might as well make Mel reflecting ourselves to quit league permanetly rather than coming back.
Some note worthy interactions I've seen : - Mel gains certain passives when reflecting abilities or AAs from specific champions, including Annie (stun), Brand (dot + explosion proc), Braum (4-hit-mark for stun) Twitch (dot), Vex (fear) and Velkoz (true damage with 3 hits) An exception, for example, is Veigar (reflecting Q and R did not grant any AP to Mel) - Projectiles shot in a non-straight line (cones etc.) like Ashe W, Heimer W and MF ult get straightened out and cover a smaller AoE because of it exception : TF Q - Pyke seems to always get hit by his E stun, no matter what - although it was quick and hard to see. I'm also not sure if it would stun in an AoE line - Mel doesn't seem to be able to reactivate abilities that usually unlock a secondary cast upon hitting an enemy (like Lee Sin Q for the dash) - the cinematic showed her using Urgot's ult recast though, so I'm not sure about that - I assume allies can click a reflected Thresh Lantern to dash to Mel - Mel can block Urgot's R reactivation (as it travels through the chains) - I didn't even know that this counted as a projectile lol - Reflecting Viktor Q still grants Viktor the shield but not to Mel - I assume because it's "on cast" - Xerath ult gets blocked on Mel but not reflected and still seems to do its AoE - I assume that's a bug? - Ziggs Q gets reflected depending on the velocity it hit Mel with - Xayah ult feathers only get stopped, not reflected - maybe another bug?
Little addition on how recasts seem to work: If the recast is a straight-up different spell (say anivia Q2, ziggs W2, akali E2, urgot R2), Mel won't be able to use it whatsoever, because she doesn't obtain the new recast spell. So, all recasts - or at least all of those i can think of right now - cannot be used by Mel. In the case of Urgot R specifically, i'm guessing it cannot pull because the execute part of the spell is reserved to the recast (R2), and doesn't exist in R1! And since R2 isn't given to Mel, she can't execute. On the other hand, spells that require another "spell position" to be used, like Briar R that requires Briar to use her E to cancel the berserk, *do* work, as in Mel simply needs to use E to get out of briar's R effect. (it works the same if Sylas steals Briar R, so it also seems to be consistent). Meanwhile, i wonder if Nautilus Q and Thresh Q, when reflected by Mel, refunds a part of Mel's Q if it hits? Are there other projectiles in the game that can give a spell refund, or has an interaction with a spell "slot" specifically that Mel could utilise?
Ok simply but awesome detail that all the proyectiles returned end with gold color or particles. Obviosly this will be to not make confussion but is better than copy/paste the skill.
Anyone notice she casted the reflect with a slight delay such that damage and initial part of the Bard Q went though, but the stun was reflected to him. Makes me think that some of these projectile with secondary effects can be timed precisely.

@@AniSwiftTVRecaps Smolder, Smolder can happens
I love that her W is completely useless against Morde.
I was afraid that it could stop his Ult just like Fiora W can.
It shouldn't work like this and it doesn't. Morde ult is CC
Fiora parry make her CC immune so it counters
Mel parry doesn't make her CC immune
Im very impressed that not only every skill shot changes colour, it also uses the exact skin copy of that champion's skill.
It's just an overlay that makes it change colors. Takes like 5 lines of code
I´ll say it´s gonna take 2 weeks after her release, till her W get´s either nerfed or adjusted
When riot still can't fix bugs with sylas viego windwalls in 2025, and then they release this
The countless amount of times i mumbled "fuck off" under my breath while watching this video XD
Pretty sure it always will refer to the new target's missing hp. Since in the end all you do is recast the spell is if it was casted by the opponent
its not exactly reflect, more like recast based on enemy items
like it was viego stealing and casting it (but with debuff that lower dmg by multiplying it by 0.4/0.7)
@@anruplay Im really curious if thats really the case, like take Jinx R, it scales with distance traveled. Does it remember the travel distance on the moment of reflect or does it start counting anew? Or maybe its broken and the distance doesnt count at all?
Probably the single most interactive ability in League
I'm confused about Urgot R, the trailer showed it executing but it can't happen here? Was the footage from another version where Mel could recast proyectiles or something?
I waited for it so much !
Exactly what we needed
shit is funny af
Ezreal, Smolder, Ziggs: How many of my skills can you deflect?
Mel: Yes
"She is beauty, she is grace and yet she reflects every projectile in your face."
Might as well make Mel reflecting ourselves to quit league permanetly rather than coming back.
underated comment
lol I love how she turns Blue High Noon Lucian VFXs to his original orange again XD
15:40 my disappointment is enormous
I can barely imagine how much of a nightmare this must've been to code or the amount of bugs it created and will create in the future
Would be cool if her W on cooldown could re-activate abilities like Lee Sin Q, detonating Ziggs W etc.
Some note worthy interactions I've seen :
- Mel gains certain passives when reflecting abilities or AAs from specific champions, including Annie (stun), Brand (dot + explosion proc), Braum (4-hit-mark for stun) Twitch (dot), Vex (fear) and Velkoz (true damage with 3 hits)
An exception, for example, is Veigar (reflecting Q and R did not grant any AP to Mel)
- Projectiles shot in a non-straight line (cones etc.) like Ashe W, Heimer W and MF ult get straightened out and cover a smaller AoE because of it
exception : TF Q
- Pyke seems to always get hit by his E stun, no matter what - although it was quick and hard to see. I'm also not sure if it would stun in an AoE line
- Mel doesn't seem to be able to reactivate abilities that usually unlock a secondary cast upon hitting an enemy (like Lee Sin Q for the dash) - the cinematic showed her using Urgot's ult recast though, so I'm not sure about that
- I assume allies can click a reflected Thresh Lantern to dash to Mel
- Mel can block Urgot's R reactivation (as it travels through the chains) - I didn't even know that this counted as a projectile lol
- Reflecting Viktor Q still grants Viktor the shield but not to Mel - I assume because it's "on cast"
- Xerath ult gets blocked on Mel but not reflected and still seems to do its AoE - I assume that's a bug?
- Ziggs Q gets reflected depending on the velocity it hit Mel with
- Xayah ult feathers only get stopped, not reflected - maybe another bug?
smolder is new character in the binding of isaac, now his mom is against him
Ok this is a very big nuance! She takes ownership of the ability! It's like she cast it wow...
Little addition on how recasts seem to work:
If the recast is a straight-up different spell (say anivia Q2, ziggs W2, akali E2, urgot R2), Mel won't be able to use it whatsoever, because she doesn't obtain the new recast spell.
Vandiril you missed Shen! His Q can be blocked by Yasuo/Braum so I expect Mel to steal the Q :D
love how she creates prestige abilities for every champ
Basically we can officially call this time after Mel was added and the time before Mel was added in the game.
I can already see all the reflect compilations
Dear god the nightmare they just created for themselves to balance
Enemies: Behold my ultimate attack
Mel: you mean my ultimate attack ?
Ok simply but awesome detail that all the proyectiles returned end with gold color or particles.
Obviosly this will be to not make confussion but is better than copy/paste the skill.
Anyone notice she casted the reflect with a slight delay such that damage and initial part of the Bard Q went though, but the stun was reflected to him. Makes me think that some of these projectile with secondary effects can be timed precisely.
I was expecting her ult to be a reflection bubble, not her W, this is wild.
NAHHHHHHHHHHHHH reflecting briar ult is actually nuts lmao
Love how smolder mom's from
"F u for bothering my kid"
To
"Get shit on kid"
Can't wait for the videos where vandiril reflects projectiles with 2 Mels until they either deal 0 or infinite damage
Smolder: here comes my mom.
Mel: don’t you mean… MY MOM.
