Everyone wanted Elon to pay more attention to Tesla, and now he is. Something was unlocked and Elon is excited.
I agree, something huge is coming! Elon seems fired up about it!! Exciting times ahead
I think to it means his comp question has at least been partially resolved in his mind but more importantly his sense of control for preventing abuse of Tesla AI products is in order.
Well said. Now many are complaining!!😂😂
I feel investors should focus on under-the-radar stocks, considering the current rollercoaster nature of the stock market, Because 35% of my $270k portfolio comprises plummeting stocks that were once revered. I don't know where to go here out of devastation.
The safest approach I feel to tackle it is to diversify investments. By spreading investments across different asset classes, like bonds, real estate, and international stocks, they can reduce the impact of a market meltdown.
@@LeandraHarris-db1gv It's often true that people underestimate the importance of financial advisors until they feel the negative effects of emotional decision-making. I remember a few summers ago, after a tough divorce, when I needed a boost for my struggling business. I researched and found a licensed advisor who diligently helped grow my reserves despite inflation. Consequently, my reserves increased from $275k to around $750k.
@@kalenebarinaenwi2417 This is considerable! think you could suggest any professionals/advisors? I'm in dire need of proper portfolio allocation.

I would use "auto" in a heartbeat as I don't really use the car I have but I still need it occasionally. I live in a small town where I can walk to do most things but I do need a car for groceries etc. Elon in wartime CEO mode!!! Love it!!!! I also agree ... what a perfect name for it. Hope he does use it.
Exceptional discussion. Makes sense of everything going on recently…
All in!
This seems like the worst period.
Even the market are now very unpredictable. Started investing recently when the market prices were a bit high, today I am more than 60% down!
Don’t be confuse buying the dip in a bear market, with guaranteed future returns. Just because that company is down 60%+ from ATH does NOT make it a sound long-term investment. Make sure you’re investing in great companies. kudos to Devion Jane

Wait is this the same lady? That helps me with 17k investment “wow" such a small world..
The more I think about it, the more I am convinced that the $25,000 car for consumers does not make financial sense for Tesla if the Robo Taxi is within reach. At a 20% margin that would only generate $5,000 in one-time profits per vehicle, vs. $30,00+ per year for the robotaxi. That should be a no-brainer, even in China where the competition in the lower price tiers is especially brutal. Only Tesla knows how close they truly are to starting Robotaxi service. It seems they are pretty confident it will be soon.
"Only Tesla knows how close they truly are to starting Robotaxi service." Incorrect, we know as we can watch the FSD V12 videos on RUclips. Even some Uber drivers who use post videos of self-driven Uber rides.
Well… 1,000,000 robo taxis could easily generate 25 billion in income a year or $8 in earnings…that’s worth $400 in stock price at 50 pe!
Only 400? How does ARK made up their 2000 target then?
Also, a friend who is a sushi chef and lives near the Grove in los angeles shared after crashing his car, he has been taking uber to get around and after a month found out it costs him around $400.00 a month ...but when having a car it costs him $1,200.00 a month to have his car..... payments, tax, insurance, registration, gas....maintenance...etc.
Robotaxi will cut that in half. Maybe $200.00 per month or even less.
@@RodFlaman i really hope so....i will not be driving to work if that is the case....sell my other car.
Robotaxi would be $200 or less. Also, he would likely never have crashed his car if it had FSD. The fulls benefits of technology are often not quite obvious before it is rolled out.
Great video explaining the current landscape at Tesla!
AUTO - All Uber Taxis Obsolesced
Great episode, thank you for reading the book too!
Thanks
Excellent excellent analysis! Feels spot on. Why is not everybody reading Walter Isaacson’s book, then take it verbatim? It’s obvious that with a clear and fast track towards full featured FSD, Elon is smelling blood …
Hans... You the man. I think you're spot on.
Also, when i go to waikiki.. i don't rent cars anymore...it's cheaper to uber all over town then pay the daily rental, insurance, gas and damn hotel parking fees...$85.00 a day parking + $145.00 a day rental and $10.00 per day gas? I Uber. bring the robotaxi now.
@12:24 Both vehicles would sell for $25k and the *RoboTaxi* would be even cheaper/more profitable and easier to manufacture with its simpler BOM (BIll Of Materials.)
They can offer the same styling options (none, paint, or sprayed-on plastic, the last two in a limited color palette,) with a _thin_ stamped stainless-steel body.)
The Robotaxi is already steer, accelerate, and brake by wire. Adding physically unconnected steering wheel and accelerator pedal is no big cost differential. The braking in either case would be fully managed by the soft/hardware.
Tesla is not going to sell Robotaxi.
The Robotaxi BOM will be more because it will use high wear materials inside and out, as well as extra cameras, computers, comms, self closing doors etc.
Thank you thank you so much for this very insightful information
This was a great discussion, particular in regard to the historical context regarding the development of and the decision making around the focus on the autonomous Robotaxi that is now front and center at Tesla.
I don't envy the pain the people at Telsa will have to go through in the next coming months/years. But every one of them are legends in my book for making the impossible possible
Most of them signed up for this. It only becomes a problem as they get older and have kids.

You guys nailed it. Nothing but nets…and robotaxis. Might reset the company’s economics as the shift to recurring revenue ramps up.
Elon's been unhinged for a while IMO. I see TSLA stock as a gamble.
Yes, we are used to unhinged. He told us not to expect a normal chill dude on SNL. I just hope he's not totally cracking up.
@@aaktatichHmmm
The only people who think he is unhinged is the political left in the US. They are 25% of the country and maybe less than 1% of the World. Keep on trucking, guys.
As a TSLA shareholder, I see delaying/cancelling the 'low-priced' model as a disaster.
The Robotaxi will not be approved by the regulators until 2026 at the earliest. (Murphy's Law)
Sell the stock.
Where do you get that date from? It's already legal in multiple US states.
41 States require no approval. As for the rest, once they see that it is 10x safer than a meat driver they will have no choice but approve it.
Robotaxi is at least a decade away, It took 5 years from prototype to production for cybertruck
We have not even seen a robotaxi prototype yet, and it’s far more complex to bring to market than cybertruck
Excited to see what great things Tesla will do!
Maravilha de live muito esclarecedora gostei da capa do que só o símbolo amo e aprecio tudo que faz em prol da preservação da raça humana eterna gratidão es meu herói que orgulho e me representa
Simply calling the robotaxi 'auto' would be epic
Cars in Germany have been called autos (das auto) for over a century - it's not new.
Be realistic about the speed of robotaxi adoption.
Pumpers don’t do realism. Not their style.
Uber adoption was fast. Half price Uber should be just as fast.
@@michaelnurse9089 It took 14 years and nearly $32 billion of cumulative losses for Uber to become profitable. Uber reported an operating profit of $1.1 billion in 2023. Tesla made $13.4 billion in profit in 2023, so displacing Uber wouldn’t move the needle much.
Fsd isn't fuckinggggg ready what don't u guys see? This is years away!!!
You need to remember that Elon stated he has not read his own biography. Therefore how would he know what to reference in that book and whether it said what he wanted?
More than likely he wanted to show a pic of himself that showed him focused on autos. In other words that his attention is now fully on Tesla.
That is indeed interesting. Elon does not sensor much, he open-sourced all Teslas patents, after all.
AUTO....
BOTS, roll out!
Hahaha… 💀
That’s what I said in my head as a huge “Transformers” fan! 🎬
While I am not as enthusiastic as you about Elon I appreciate all the information I have acquired. We are seeing a bold move in a direction most can not fathom. I personally have experienced a couple of Fsd problems cameras may not overcome. I do see solutions but not under current configurations. Does anyone know if version 4 hardware Fsd is coming soon?
Regarding Wartime CEO: It’s the “Speck of dust on a gnats ass” for me! 🎬😂💀
I really don't get the obsession with FSD. IMHO he has deeply misjudged the car culture in this country. Robotaxi may be cheered in congested cities (seattle, NYC, LA, ect) or other countries but for those of us not in an urban center, we want our own vehicles, we want our stuff inside them, we want those cars ready whenever and wherever we are. Most don't want random people borrowing our stuff and taking it someplace else.
I have FSD but don't use it for more than cruise control. Wouldn't recommend anyone pay more than 10/month for it max.
Yes, but it makes 100% business sense for them to focus on mass producing robotaxi and making the auto sales market secondary
agree, robotaxi more useful for the major US cities but even more so for EU and Asian cities imho
@@maiandong9918 i agree
@@Anx3lx I see your point. We'll have to trust musk on this. Not sure i would go all in on robotaxi with no clarity on the regulatory side. Even if it were ready today, the approvals could take years. Personally would rather they pushed out the M2 first.
You need to think this through like an economist and not a car guy. Robotaxi will cut the cost of transport for many people to 1/3rd, which means over time median salaries will drop accordingly. At this point having your own F150 will effectively be 3x the cost of what it currently is as you are earning less. Some will pay but most will not or cannot.
1.) failed to launch model 2 as EV market is more competitive.
2.) plan to launch final beta FSD as the latest new Robot taxi
😢
US EV market is less competitive. China is ramping up EV competition in a big way but they can only sell to themselves and Brazil without tariffs. FSD will be different to Robotaxi software, but the core is the same. Not sure why you are unhappy.
my question concerning the „RoboTaxi“ is,- why would Tesla design a RT as a little tiny car, making it a two seater and difficult for many people of getting in and out and has no storage space for luggage?? Better would be a design like a London Taxi“ type of car with space for luggage.
After the success of the first robotaxi there will be many more iterations. Right up to vans and semis.
I always love your Peaceful analysis of the Tesla situation. My Ulcer is very happy too
A robotaxi only approach frightens me, because this a new market and I have no idea if it will succeed. Something in me says that many people still want to own their own cars and that there's still a big market there that can't be ignored.
There will be an easy transition between model 2 and robotaxi. The "big" market for people who want to drive is shrinking rapidly with the advancing age of baby boomers and their kids.
@@RodFlaman But there will be a big market for people who still want to own their own car for a while to come. I think Tesla shouldn't dump the $25,000 car. And I believe they won't. But we'll see, probably on 8/8.
" and I have no idea if it will succeed." You might have no idea but Elon has an idea, and I know whose ideas make more money.
I find these periods of structural reorganization and change to be especially exciting when they are being done around revolutionary product announcements. The next few months are a great time to start a new investing position and/or get more shares. Elon has earned my vote for his 2018 compensation, and working through this transition period will earn him another round.
According to James Duama, Tesla would currently need 100,000 Robotaxis for Chicago. I think this number is for the initial deployment of Robotaxis to replace the current ride hailing services of Uber and Lyft. I am not sure that number includes taxi services or rental cars. As acceptance and adoption increases due to connivence, cost, safety, privacy, and availability, adoption will increase to 5 or 10 times the current ride hailing market especially when customers decide not to buy that second car (for their spouse or kids), or convert all of their daily driving needs to the Robotaxi service.
Tesla would need 2x - to make sure rides are always available and no surge pricing. So 200 000 in the next 2 years and 2 000 000 after 5. They are going to need to make 40m a year which is obviously outside the realm of possibility. In other words, Tesla is going to be taxi constrained for a decade or more.
@@michaelnurse9089 Correct. That is the reason they have delayed the $25k EV.
Ironically, Robotaxis or transportation-as-a-service could be the saving grace for legacy automakers (from bankruptcy). The can’t make EVs profitably for sale to customers, but if the can license Tesla’s EV operating system software and FSD, the can make Robotaxi vehicles that would be used for their Robotaxi service. The margins are so huge for this type of service, even if their Robotaxi vehicles cost twice as much to build compared to Tesla, they still can higher gross margins than they currently do selling ICE cars. This would help Tesla achieve their overall mission to speed the transition to renewables and at the same time diminish the likelihood of antitrust suits. This would buy time for legacy automakers to learn how to make EVs much more efficiently and much cheaper.
Robo taxi / steered discussion was before end to end autonomy became a possibility. That changed it.

@@Locum-ms6gd Thank you for sharing, i concur with your experience in my life.

@@992GTS-DC No my brother, only if you come from a poor and financially lacking family or a family who enjoys the blue color life of fixing cars.... for us well to do and highly educated the time and effort spent of owning or working on cars is a poor investment in our short lives. Most kids from higher stratus of society do not care so much about cars and owning one. They are more focused on money and power to be stable in their lives. Cars are the least of importance .... if you look at the demographics of the "street takeover" crowd. they are the scum of our society and below the mental and financial aptitude of people with higher meaningful goals in life.
Fire self Elon.
There is actually no longer any need to "bet the farm" to achieve robotaxi, precisely because of the dual-path approach that has been pursued. As a result, Tesla can now do both in full earnest, with maximum (wartime-like) urgency, without compromising either the robotaxi or the more affordable Model 2 with a steering wheel. The opportunity to do so was basically unlocked by the huge step-change/paradigm-level improvement in FSD enabled by the shift to Neural Network control - for both FSD Robotaxi and for Optimus.
If I build and sell a $25k car with a net margin of 17% I recoup my total cost and add an immediate $4,250 to my balance sheet. If that car is used by its owner as a Robotaxi in my fleet I immediately begin earning another say $0.30 cents a mile so used. The electricity and maintenance on that car (including very frequent cleaning) is the responsibility of its owner.
If I choose to keep the car for my own Robotaxi fleet, and make say $0.60 a mile that Robotaxi has to drive 41,700 miles just to gross the $25,000 of a sale. That doesn't include maintenance, cleaning costs, etc.
It is better for my bottom line to sell the car for at least a year during which I have the $25k capital to further my business.
Experienced modelers did this calculation and Robotaxi is 10x better if not more. The pv profit per taxi is $1m usd+. You back of a napkin math is missing most of the factors at play.
without controls there is no question about someone overriding fsd and then blaming consequences on tesla
Here in Denmark I am waiting for how Tesla moves: Robotaxi and/or the smaller car. I would love the smaller and cheaper car with monthly FSD payments, if Robotaxis turn out not to be on the horizon anyway. So I will be sitting like the cat on the fence 😊
A Man Called Auto.
🎉😊❤Listen to Jean Cocteau's Beauty whisper into the ear of her horse as she says Go where I am going...and the horse carries her off to her destination...
This is the purpose of FSD transportation ...what a great way to travel...reliable and enjoyable ride. 🎉😊❤
Thank you, Elon🎉❤😊
Elons picture meaning = Auto will seem small in the bigger picture. Auto means car in German.
Just a quibble, but the difference between a bet and testing the laws of physics to an exhausting of design engineering until the intended outcome is the result aimed for, is only a matter of sticking to the relative-timing Principle that constructs, by default, all the condensed energy type meaning in existence. In the end we will conform and conditionally confirm the quantization cause-effect of Actuality.
My hunch is that we are entering the era of Robo-Tesla of which the Robo-Taxi is but one component.
The Next Generation Vehicle assembly line is an opportunity to deploy Optimus Robots. The highly automated unboxed assembly line may remind Tesla veterans of "Model 3 Production Hell" (which ultimately resulted in the highly successful Shanghai plant). With that looming hell, the layoff might be seen by top managers as a chance to take the "corporate buyout" (severance pay) before the latest "hell weeks". With enough robots, Mexico might be unnecessary from a labor point of view and may explain why Tesla wants to manufacture the Next Generation Vehicle in Berlin!!!
The Elon picture is him praying that autonomy works.
"Drudgery of driving"
What percentage of drivers think like this?
I've been driving for over 40 years and still love it whether going shopping, commuting or doing international road trips, and especially since getting a M3 AWD.
Robotaxis may break out of the niche in due course and turn us into fat couch potatoes like in the film Wall-E, but is it really worth betting the farm on it?
As many people think like you as own vehicles in the class of an M3. 94.3% of people hate driving as it is a crawl to the office and back eating up 3 hours of your day.
@@michaelnurse9089 You have a point - 35 years ago I drove 2 hours each way from one side of London to the other for work. Yes, it wasn't so much fun, but I would still rather drive and be in control than be driven and not be in control, and/or bored!
This was well before smartphones and residential internet, let alone GPRS.
With so many people working from home now, including me, commuting drudgery should be an increasingly rare activity.
After all, the pandemic proved to managers that the "bums on seats" mentality was old fashioned and largely unnecessary for office and software work.
There are exceptions of course, but with more people working from home, there's less traffic, faster flow, less danger and less of a need for robotaxis, especially if fewer people need to travel.
The pace of development of tech on society is fascinating and it could go in unpredictable and unexpected directions.
You forgot about Elon's immediate response to Reuters about the $25K car: "That's a lie!"
FSD would be a walk in the park to automate airplanes!!!!!!!!!!!! NUFF SAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Auto n me…
The robotaxi can use sodium batteries. It doesn't need huge range.
Not the best option because the new CATL LiFePO4 batteries will go 1.5m miles at least and they are ready and are cheap. Sodium is better for the cheapest small cars that just take kids to school and back.
@@michaelnurse9089 that'll be 99% of the robotaxi use cases. We want them to be so cheap that anyone needing transport anywhere in the country can have one in 60s.
Auto^2mobile, i.e. the first automatic automobile coming, the autoautomobile?
Why do people think X and Tesla do not correlate when XAI just got engineers from Tesla?
What did they discover via their AI????🤖🤩🧨
_When FSD is ready_ may differ greatly from when regulators agree that FSD is ready.
Look how shifting regulations throw battery factory plans into disarray.
Look how Waymo and Cruise were given regulatory approval, when they were far from being ready. I think FSD will be a much more likely bet for approval when it is ready.
41 states have no regulations. Others will fall in line once safety statistics are revealed.
People seem to forget or ignore the fact that the administration's dealing with Elon are not all based on logic.
Elon is their enemy.
Even before he hijacked their propaganda outlet and exposed their secrets, he was a target for being such a high profile ceo of non-union shops.
You need to learn to read between the lines. They are not going to say; "We are weaponizing our agencies". Look at the lawfare against Trump and all his associates. Look up Gibson Guitar vs Obama's F&WS
@@michaelnurse9089
If it will always need to be supervised it isn’t worth 8 k in my opinion. I think a lot of customers will be unhappy when Tesla comes out with autonomous and it isn’t an upgrade to FSD but a separate purchase. If Elon says differently I will pay the 8 k today.
If FSD goes well, Tesla no longer needs to sell cars starting next year. According to James, The PV of a robotaxi is worth $800k currently, why sell for $25k? By 2030, Tesla will have a robotaxi fleet of 100 million worldwide, the annual production is 20 million, a robotaxi can last for 5 years. Elon said 20 million for production, not for sales.
When the data shows that fsd is safer than human drivers, it will be adopted globally very quickly. This technology will save countless lives.
Automation - Automobile - Autonomous - Autorobotic
Auto on me = Autonomy
Autonomous software is the brain of all things-cars, trains, planes and robots. Elon knows Ai winner takes all. I am glad Elon is in charge.
The world needs about 300M robotxis eventually
Robotaxi 1st seems most threwd because there is no way any ill-intentioned occupant can cause the vehicle to crash with the aim of discrediting Tesla.
It looks like robotaxi must be the sole autonomous vehicle that Tesla underwrites 'until' FSD becomes generally accepted. Only then should Tesla consider selling consumer owned FSD vehicles, or licencing the software to other manufacturers.
Why is Tesla incapable of building both a mass market car and a robotaxi?
Yeah this is sort of where I am situated too, I am not yet in love with this all in plan, I would like the 25K car to really happen 😬
Elon has learned from past mistakes. They were CAPABLE of making Roadster from a Lotus platform, but the compromises required slowed progress and limited success. He learned to be wary of “shortcuts” that end up hamstringing product results.
Why would you give away a product for a few thousand in profit when keeping it can generate multiple times that every year...
Maybe it makes sense to do that in Europe and areas where FSD is another while away 🤷♂️
yup, especially outside of the US, small hatchback style car is what is wanted, even Y & 3 are still too big for EU and much of Asia
It is not, but can't do it at the same time. Resources are finite.
I'm calling it here and I give it about a 90% probability. We all know that Elon is a fan of making references to corny comedic movies from his youth. Given that, I expect the new autonomous car to be named Otto, a reference to the autopilot in the movie Airplane.
didn't convince him for long
Society is many years from a robotaxi. Tessly can't even get a level 4 fsd. Everyone who bought shares over $250... unfortunately, you may never see that money again. Tessly won't reach $250 again without an enormous and nearly impossible success.
If you're thinking of investing in Tessly, wait ✋🏻 the stock is going way under $100 in 2024.
So why waste your time watching videos about a dead end company? Maybe get some air.

That was my thought as well. It was a disaster. He probably felt his time was running out and took the next exit.
Why don’t they design a simplified robot that can act as a Backup driver, contingency plan if the car needs a driver to control it or assist an elderly or disabled passenger or close the trunk or do some minor car maintenance. That’s what we all envision for the robotaxi based on sci-fi movie
So a robot to drive a car that can already drive itself…..

Auto-Destruction-Mode😶🆘🇺🇸
It is true if all the market needs is a cheap EV, the Chinese are showing they can supply that. However, the Chinese are not positioned to compete in the Robotaxi arena. I like the bold decision-making here. The $25,000 is only cheap if the US government puts up tariffs on Chinese imports, which could be gone if the administration changes its mind. The ultimate goal is to reduce the cost of transportation, whichever the means to achieve it. I would want to own a fast small hatchback Tesla, but I understand Tesla will try to maximize both profits and its mission. The $25,000 car will never get to the same profit margin as Robotaxi.
There is already a tariff - Trump put it in place. I think it is 27.5%.
If Elon thinks I want to use a taxi cab on my home turf then he really is crazy and when at the CES in Las Vegas I’m perfectly happy with the buss or train. Yes a few places require taxi service like San Francisco & New York. And if I carried with me all the things I find useful to have with me in my car, I would have to carry a suitcase in a taxi. Just plain stupid. He doesn’t understand our love for are own vehicle. There is good reason why so few cities in the U.S. of A, only have a pittance of Taxi or Uber’s and it’s not because they are too expensive. We love having our stuff with us!
Stuff is a burden. Free yourself
yes, I think many in US want to own their own car and have little interest in using Rideshare / robotaxi most of the time
This is a giant blow to me. It shows Elon is all about new tech and not enlarging the share of EVs in the U.S., where an affordable EV is critical. By promising a car and then canceling it suddenly, he hurts the EV community in the sense that others probably would have filled the space had they known Tesla is not interested in it.
Its not cancelled, Robotaxi first, Model 2 later. The will use the same platform.
@@michaelnurse9089 Sure, but we are already way behind in EV adoption if we are to combat climate change. I don't think Elon cares.
Sooo why not have Texas built out Robo taxi, they can do the job at low volume 50k to 100k, and Mexico can make the 5 seater 25000 car at 2 to 4 million.
Because Robotaxi needs to be 4 to 8 million as it is far more profitable.

I seriously doubt Tesla will sell 20 million vehicles in 2030 because perhaps half of the vehicles they produced won’t be sold to the public. Perhaps the vehicles they produce will be used by Tesla as Robotaxis.
Good point. I think everyone is using lazy language because traditionally auto manufacturers sell what they produce, more or less.
Great work Alexandra!!!
fsd is still a speculative ... like chatgpt it may make things up and/or hallucinate ... will fsd do that?
Robotaxi is real world. Chatgpt is not.
they both use similar systems
It does hallucinate but it does it at a rate about 10x less than humans. 90%+ of all deaths on the roads are from human error and this should not be discounted. If FSD and Robotaxi are widespread US road deaths will go from 40000pa to 4pa, that is my estimate.
Demand for EVs is low. Tesla price target 70$. Mark my words
Talk is cheap. Grow a pair and short Tesla, my brother.
None us will remain here to see a car without steering wheel and pedals on any kind of user input that is not remote controlled. Not in the roads we have today. Nope.
For the last couple of months Tesla has had exactly that. Watch a couple FSD V12 videos. Truth can be stranger than fiction.
FSD was far from ready 2022, so Elon must have been wrong then. The riskw were too high! Now it's clearly showing that it can be accomplished. So Elon might be back to the main path again.
But the deployment of RoboTaxi wont be fast enough. And FSD isn't ecen close to finished in most of the world.
I therefore think that a compact $25k car is also needed.
But I also think that manufacturing the RoboTaxi is much the same as manufacturing a car on the same platform.
Maybe not much of a slowdown of that!
Getting Optimus into the factory is a much easier thing than FSD. It doesn't have to be that intelligent to do repetitive work, and that's all that's needed in the beginning. No one talks about that anymore!
V12 with end to end training seemed to change everything.
Total echo chamber in here 😂Tesla down again, worst stock on the S&P 500 for a long time now!
No pay no play for Elon
