Import duty on bikes in Indonesia is 0% under 250, 60% under 500cc and wait for it 95% for 500cc plus so your GS 1250 works out about 40k !

It’s not the import duties, it’s a luxury tax, import duties applied to the completely build up (CBU) motorbike, so some manufacturers who sells mid-size engine motorcycle (250 > 500 cc) build an assembly line here to build the knock down one so it will get lower import duties, but the luxury tax remain the same.

@@stuartmoles843 It's a shame that our government imposes very high taxes and excise duties on large-capacity motorcycles.
So there are many examples of people who bought large-capacity motorbikes illegally, who didn't pay taxes and excise, came to Indonesia by breaking them down into several parts and assembling them here.
Especially Harley Davidson motorbikes, many of them are illegal.

It really depends on where you ride. I'm italian, i live half an hour ride from the appennines, and i'm not very keen on being overtaken by cars on the road. Having tried several bikes, 650/700 is probably enough (especially with emission limits). 250cc? lol, good luck riding toll highways.

Hello Freddie ! I'm from Indonesia, i live in Bandung. I've been watching your channel since last year and i gotta say, your passion for automotive is insane ! While you're in Indonesia you should definitely try a 2stroke bike my friend, the 2stroke culture here in Indonesia is really insane, there's a bike called Yamaha Rx-king that bike is like a legend in our country infact that blue yamaha bike in the video, that Yamaha Rx-King hahaha. I think we have Euripides (Greek playwright) to thank for 'Deus Ex Machina' - literally God from the Machine. Towards the end of a tragedy, he would often have a Greek God lowered onto the stage by a primitive crane (the machine) who would ensure a good outcome for the hero. That custom Kawasaki W175 looks like the Kawasaki Barako 175 here in the Philippines. I have tried Yamaha XSR155 and that bike is so Fast, even though XSR155 has lesser cc than the Kawasaki Barako/W 175, they have huge difference in speed. I ask Yamaha dealership staff why XSR155 is so fast, they told me it's because of the VVA inside XSR155's engine, "Continuous increase of speed in a Low steady Rev" that means they tuned the bike to be fast. Nice classic bikes at Deus there at Bali. 🏁 Enjoy your adventure both.

For 250-500cc bikes there is a 60% luxury tax on the import value (or sale price for bikes manufactured in Indonesia), and 95% tax for bikes over 500cc. Also, for import bikes, the government takes its sweet time to license them as they homologate each individual bike. I had to wait 7 months to get the road papers for my RE Meteor 350, and one year for the owner book! All in all, a pretty sad situation for mid-size and big bike enthusiasts in Indonesia.

Hi both I am a scooter convert to have alongside a bike. As well as my car, for 10yrs or more since having a twist and go belt drive, my sh300 is my go to ride. Looks like A 125 goes like a 400. Had x max250 before. Prefer honda for performance but yam for comfort weather protection and maintenance. Rear disc brake on honda is horrid as is taking rear wheel out of any scooter. Had a go on t max but just too heavy and cumbersome. Can see Monica on a twist and go wherever u call home😁. Wonderful channel
If u get a chance try a300cc scooter u will be surprised

I hope you get an N-Max. It has the same 155cc engine as my Aerox, which is the sports version. Much more underseat storage than the Scoopy. 5:19 The W175-engined custom looks fabulous. 13:44 Another W-175 custom. Rent it, Freddie! It will be miles for comfortable than the Scoopy. I don't know how two of you manage on it. 15:14 I agree. Cool bike! XSR155: you see them everywhere in Thailand.
What a couple of stunning bike shops.

The XSR 155 is more comfortable because of the monoshock suspension and assist/slipper clutch. However, the W175 has that "classic feel" - the vibrations, engine sound, sketchy shifting and underpowered performance.
