An inspiration to us all, Ms. Durham's beautiful voice and dedication to her profession! Thanks to all who make it possible for us to enjoy these treasures world wide.
Just perfection. Since a youngster in the 60's I have been smitten by Judith Durham ( along with millions of others!). The Seekers are all fantastic role models and have no equals.
After seven decades of listening to good music, I thought I heard all of the world's greatest singers until I heard Judith Durham sing this beautiful song!
I only took a chance and there it was I never expected to hear it from somebody else I thought I was the only one who knew that old song Beutifully sung so beutiful
The lyrics are beautiful. Vair me oro van o Vair me oro van ee Vair me oru o ho Sad am I without thee When I'm lonely dear white heart Black the night or wild the sea By love's light my foot finds The old pathway to thee Vair me oro van o Vair me oro van ee Vair me oru o ho Sad am I without thee Thou'rt the music of my heart Harp of joy oh cruit mo chridh Moon of guidance by night Strength and light thou'rt to me
It burns my 'ASSets' she isn't here anymore. Judith really was in a league of her own. Except for Karen Carpenter I can't think of anyone that came close or equal to Judith Durham.
I wondered when the tears would come...I've loved The Seekers' version of this beautiful song since childhood (mid-60s) and, although being very low since hearing the news of Judith's death (doubtless like the rest of her legion of fans), hadn't actually shed a tear. Oh dear! It's the cruel irony of her death that stings so much. That a woman who never smoked, drank alcohol and changed her diet completely to attempt to negate the symptoms of Bronciectasis and whose breath control whilst singing was second to none should succumb to the disease ultimately is just so unfair. Xx💖💖
Sadly, it can just happen that way. For instance, I myself was diagnosed last year with chronic asthma, yet I've never smoked in my life, worked with asbestos, kept pets and nor did I or any of my family have that condition as kids. Work that one out.
Without a doubt, the MOST beautiful female singing voice I have ever heard! Been a Seeker's fan since 1964-65 . Still listen most every day. Quite simply, NONE better than Judith and the Seekers, for me. As the Carnival is Over says: " I will love you till I die" Tim in Midland, Texas
Judith can easily put singers of today to shame. Such a beautiful voice which tugs my heart strings with every song. As someone born in 1960 I grew up with The Seekers and still love them today.
Mark Rafferty : Like you, I also was born in 1960 and initially started listening to the Beatles; but when I heard 'The Carnival is Over' and 'A World of Our Own' and suddenly thought, 'Hang on, these guys are good'. Now, I'm starting to collect their music on CD to enhance my listening pleasure.
With her voice her heart reaches in and takes your heart. Never heard the Eriskay lilt sung so beautifully and hauntingly. The contrast of pure talent, goodness and gift compared to the absolute dross and plastic "look at me" ugly garbage we have forced on us now has never been clearer or the gap been wider.
You've certainly hit the nail on the head there, Jim. Judith Durham was a once in a lifetime talent that will NEVER be repeated. I for one, will never forget her. R.I.P the late, great Judith Durham AO. She is now singing with the angels.
my primary school choir sung this song mid 1950s, I thought we were good, little did I know then. Judith - lovely lady with a heavenly voice singing divinely.
My all time favourite 'The Seekers' song, featuring the unmistakably dulcet tones of the legendary (and now sadly missed) Judith Durham on lead vocals. What a huge, unique and natural talent she had and what a terrible loss to this world her untimely death was. This song was never issued as a single anywhere and was only ever released as an album track, but what an unforgettable performance of a truly beautiful song. It's how I choose to remember her. Judith was very special and I'll love her until the end of time itself.
@@G6JPG Whether it's classed as a Seekers song or a Judith Durham solo performance, it's still a great song either way. Judith's vocals on it are just simply exquisite.

I first heard this song in the same era by Canada's Voice of an Angel, Catherine McKinnon. As The Seekers emerged in Canada in the late 60's, Catherine got some competition If you like Judith, you may want to give Catherine a listen.
Recently heard this song for the first time on a local 60s radio station.I know not why I have never heard it before as it is beautifully sung by Judith Durham.
Judith Durham hatte eine wundervolle Simme die sie auch als Solosängerin einsetzte nicht nur bei den The Seekers. Frau Durham und ich haben etwas gemeinsam, wir sind beide 1943 geboren. Friedel Breitenbach

Judith Durham és Connie Francis a popzene történetének a legszebb hangú énekesnői.... Köszönöm szépen az élményt, aminek a részese lehettem! Üdvözlettel Szarvas András.
Dear Judith, where ever you go my thoughts go with you. For such beauty, both physical and spiritual, is a treasure beyond measure. I listen as an Angel is singing because she is one.

What a fantastic and soulful song. We are in the process of recording the song with Baritone ukulele, violin, voice, on Vancouver Island, B.C. Canada
Rest in Peace Judith Durham x

What a lovely song and a voice to match....no one could sing this song like she did. She was a blessing for sharing her incredible gift.
Even if you can't discern the lyrics, the voice of Judith Durham and the melody create a beautiful song!
The lyrics are beautiful.

Judith. Enough said. In my opinion, greatest female voice ever.

There is really just nobody else on earth that can sing like Judith Durham....a fact of life...her singing and voice is hauntingly beautiful...
Judith's voice at its peak I believe
Definitely
Thankyou Judith Durham for the music and memories - grew up to Seekers music - the carnival is over 💕
She had such a clear voice! Her former co-members from The Seekers must be feeling so sad today.
This lady might have the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. Sounds pure and full of wisdom st once.
I'm so glad I found these videos.

I know right… I’m thinking about her death everyday. It’s devastating.
Omg yes, it is sad. I think it's tragic that a singer with such a clear voice ended up with a chronic lung condition.
Sadly, it can just happen that way. For instance, I myself was diagnosed last year with chronic asthma, yet I've never smoked in my life, worked with asbestos, kept pets and nor did I or any of my family have that condition as kids. Work that one out.

Australia should declare Judith Durham a national treasure.
They did...
You mean they haven't?? Are you sure? The whole band is a treasure IMO.
Her name is Judith Durham/edgeworth with AO in the end. It is a highest honour given to her by AU
I totally agree
She really is Roger. Except for maby Karen Carpenter who has the range and tone of Judith Durhan in the last 50 years? Wow!
