This incredibly classy lady was a singer's singer. Her control, her pitch, her phrasing, her breathing were always as near perfect as can be (who else would ever even try to give a one hour a capella concert?). Sad to think that this voice is no longer with us. Goodbye, Judith - you will be sorely missed.
I think Judith Durham should have turned to pop, instead of jazz and blues when she went solo although she did well with that music, she went under the radar with a much bigger audience, with her voice she should have had a few big hits l still can't understand why some songwriters did not come forward, they could not go wrong, that's why I think she was under rated I think it is a crying shame Judith never had hits when she was solo, she had the best voice in the business
What I would say to Judith if I apoke to her. "Judith, Judith, Judith, WHY?Yes I know you say you felt the need to find yourself and all that implies. BUT you were loved worldwide, perhaps as no other before or since. You were loved by Australia. Each one felt you were theirs. Your purity of heart and soul captivated the haedest of men. In retrospect, I think, you would have thought hard about your decision. You see it was selfish, you wanted what you wanted, not the millions who hung on your every song, as though you were singing only to them. And so, you exiled yourselves. Yes, there were good times, but in truth only when you came home were you back where you belonged. Loved and in the fold of everyones heart. 😢 Thats when you found yourself, and realised where you belonged all the time. God Bless you.
I'll be 80 years old in a few months and I can't believe that I've let this wonderful voice be absent from my life. I'll rectify that in the time I have left. Judith your voice fills an empty spot in my soul. Thank you so much.
Gerald....It's never too late to catch up....It's all here on YT. Just enjoy my friend .... Be glad you did not miss this golden voice. I've been listening since I was 15..... I'm 68 now........ Thank you, Judith, and the Seekers, of course, for enriching my life. From my heart & soul: Thank you.
My sister took me i think 1966 to myer music bowl in melbourne australia she was lead singer of the seekers 4 years later i was listening to jimmy hendrix. Now i am 66 still listen to judith durahm . And hendrix. And others. Music is a true healer. All the best to you all.
yep 80 here as well but unlike you I've known of her for at least 60 years. There are not many singers in her league but one is Sissel. These beautiful females have a lot in common even though they may never have actually met.
i am 72 now i have been listening all my life to the wonderfull seekers and judith i cant get enough they bring back a host of memories god bless them all
Judith Durham was a gifted singer with an extraordinary voice, unforgettable for me! I used to live in Australia for a couple of years and visited the country later on. I possibly have a special relationship to this country and many memories. When I listen to the music of the Seekers and Judith, it really grabs me, must be a sort of magic. Rest in peace Judith, your musical heritage lives on.....
I listened to the song "Morning has broken" sung by different singers. I was wondering why I don't like this song although many singers are good. Now I come to the conclusion that I like Judith's interpretation best because she paints it for me - I can see it and feel it; There isn't a pretty girl or handsome man who would fool me into thinking how deep and insightful they are. When I close my eyes I picture the singer Judith as an average looking lady standing next to me and leading me through the beautiful landscape. Judith is a good looking lady, but I don't have to admire her looks, who knows how to paint a picture for the listener with her voice. That makes her a great singer. Sadly she passed away, but she still paints audible landscapes.
I think you have got something there. She fills us all up. Thank my lucky stars for that powerful voice. Everyday it sounds better than the one before. Can anyone tell me how that is possible?
My 14 year old granddaughter, a member of the Virginia Children's Chorus has just discovered ( with some help from grandad ) Judith and the Seekers and its like she has discovered a diamond mine. She and her friends can't seem to stop playing and singing the songs. I love it, thank you Judith. God bless.
I was a teen in 60's but only discovered Judith Durham and The Seekers at the age of 68. I feel the same way - 50+ years of classical music and I haven't stopped listening to their music for the past two months!
i know i know I've been living in a closet for the last 50 some years. I just heard 4 of their songs and each one they smoke the most popular/orginial versions.
I am not from an English speaking country and only learned about Judith and the Seekers five months ago. Ever since I listen to her and the Seekers almost every day. In some renditions ( Colours of my life, The Olive Tree, 500 miles, among others) I get so overpowered by the feelings their music bring that I cannot do anything else but stay there listening. The 1968 Farewell concert I watch parts of it every day.
Thank you God for the ability to be able to hear such a beautiful voice, not only this song, but everything she has sung for the past 53 years!! She is THE very best ever, in my opinion. Tim in Midland, Texas
Agreed, Tim. Been listening to Judith and The Seekers for the past 50 years and would agree that she has one of the best voices ever. Michael - another Texan (living in Ecuador)
Judith has a voice that only comes once in a lifetime. Tender, soft, beautiful, melodic, magnificent, cristal clear, soothing, charming, and heavenly. A voice that is so angelic and pure and to round it all off she is as wonderful and stunning as her voice. Judith your my Georgie Girl and there will NEVER be another you.
Perfect pitch, enunciation, breath control, timbre, phrasing, and rhythm -- all combined in a supremely talented artist. Judith Durham also has that rare gift: a perfect vibrato -- one of dynamics that remained on pitch while most singers resort to tonal vibrato; it gave her voice that unusual and gloriously ethereal quality that is sought by so many and realized by so few. Hers is a voice for the ages and, for me, she will ever be young.
My sincere cngratulations. From all the thousands of comments yours is probably the one that says all about her unique voice. As a fan, I would like to add something about Judith's character. It is clear in her Biography that already in 1964 she might have had a solo career but she decided to stay in England " lest letting the boys down!" Without her there would be no Seekers and she regarded as a duty to stay. It is clear also that after marriage she adapted her style in order to make her Husband's piano an essential part of THEIR act...for almost 25 years. In view of this close-knit past together, it was a natural thing to regroup, which they did in 1993. This displays Judith as a person capable of sacrificing her own goals in support of people who relied and in some way depended on her. An amazing display of greatness in a world full of greed. I agree with many on this point: there is indeed an undescribable lure in her performances, in her voice and manner. Judith Durham seems like belonging to a world much better than this plagued place we have around us today.
When I start listening to Judith, I get nothing done for the rest of the day. This version is better than Cat Stevens' original. Better than anyone else's version. She's the best.
i love Judith to the MAX! She is clearly the best female singer ever. But the original IS the best. This actually is an overdone arrangement , bloody way over the top reverb. Should've just had Judith on piano and 1 guitarist, and thats it.

+John Battles I was quite smitten with Karen Carpenter as a youngin. I played "Close to you" enough to drive my big brother batty ;-) Excellent that you bring her up!
DannoCrutch, I was smitten with K.C. too. I was a mid-to-older teen at the time. She left us way too early! "Close to You" was one of the several Carpenter songs I memorized. My first girlfriend and I used to listen to it, "Top of the World," and "Yesterday Once More" over and over! I still have a 33rpm LP Christmas record of the Carpenters that my wife, four children and I would listen to every Christmas while putting up the Christmas tree -- even after it got a few scratches and would skip! Great, great memories!
+John Battles That's awesome! I distinctly remember: I was listening to "Close to you". A 45 on a old record player. My big brother was throwing a frisbee in the house and hit the player. We had a good fight.

Judith Durham, the finest by far to come out of Australia.Driving on hols with the kids back in the 60s to the beautiful sound of her voice.Never leaves you.Saw her, solo,a few years back in my home town.I always used to say,a voice as clear as a bell.Nothings changed.
Yes, I've been a loyal fan since the sixties. Honoured to have seen The Seekers in concert three times in London, one was their 50th anniversary tour at the Royal Albert Hall. What a magical, emotional show that was and they sounded as good as ever. I also saw Judith's solo show at the Festival Hall in 1970 (or 71- not sure). I thank them for the pleasure their music has given over the years.

Judith, whatever the song, whatever your age, I always have an impression of heaven when I hear you. If it doesn't sound like you when I get up there, its just because you haven't arrived yet. Your smile, your beauty make me happy. Thank you for your signing and for your generous personality. I'll be looking for you over the clouds.
Mr Dion. It is interesting that Tom Springfield the composer of I will never find another you and Georgy Girl is actually named Dionysius O Brien. Dionysius was a 5th century christian scholar who was particularly dedicated to the study of the hierarchy of Angels and Guardian Angels. Judith is quite often compared to an Angel that came to Earth, with the 3 handsome Seekers boys as her guardians. In their many recordings on religious themes it is impossible not to feel the power enclosed in the rendition. They have been sent to bring happiness and hope. Did it when young and reunited later to go on with their mission until health permitted . God bless them.
We can't forget about another beautiful human being that can sing either and that's Sissel. Last year she sang a song in front of the Tabernacle Choir that absolutely blew me away. Me and everybody else the only time I ever saw her cry.
the best singel singer frome ouer planet miss judith duhram never now this grupp when ai was young regards frome south of sweden city karlskrona the best
Perfect, thank you so much Judith and the rest of the team. There's a connection with Edward Thomas, who was killed in action in 1917 and is buried near Arras, who wrote a beautiful poem called Adlsstrop which is one of my favourites making this doubly moving for me,
Anything she sings looks perfect and definitive. One can only look forward to the following video, the following revelation...revelation of beauty, gentleness. No wonder she can inspire love.
This heavenly voice is ingrained in my musical mental library; I had never heard her sing this beautiful hymn, but will remember it always now. Godspeed, Judith Durham!

Wonderful lady!
I love Judith Durham's voice and this song. Thanks for sharing!
RIP Judith you will be sadly missed by everyone you were the best
What a beautiful human beeing. Thank you Australia from Sweden!
And from the United States
Thank you Sweden for Abba and thank you Australia for the Seekers. Will never see the likes of these artists again.
We can't forget about another beautiful human being that can sing either and that's Sissel. Last year she sang a song in front of the Tabernacle Choir that absolutely blew me away. Me and everybody else the only time I ever saw her cry.

Timesless beauty about Judith Durham and her voice..
I never get tired of Judith’s singing. Her voice is so beautiful.
Perfect, thank you so much Judith and the rest of the team. There's a connection with Edward Thomas, who was killed in action in 1917 and is buried near Arras, who wrote a beautiful poem called Adlsstrop which is one of my favourites making this doubly moving for me,
Very well done - Judith Durham always has done extremely well in the songs she has chosen to sing. One of my favorites.
Amazing how much I have missed listening to Judith, always nice to step back to memory lane, beautiful voice.
MY LORD! WHAT A VOICE & PERFORMER!! I MISSED TOO MUCH IN MY 80+ YRS....

Cat Stevens version is great - but Judiths voice just takes it to the next level.
SUBLIME
Anything she sings looks perfect and definitive. One can only look forward to the following video, the following revelation...revelation of beauty, gentleness. No wonder she can inspire love.
This kind of beauty is just ageless...
Who else could possibly sing this song so perfectly with such a pretty voice and technique.
God gifted this world with Judith Durham's voice.
Now that I've finished listening to Judith sing Morning Has Broken, time can start moving forward again. For it stands still when I hear her sing.
Beautiful voice for a beautiful and talented lady
This heavenly voice is ingrained in my musical mental library; I had never heard her sing this beautiful hymn, but will remember it always now. Godspeed, Judith Durham!
I absolutely love her voice. She makes my heart sing.
Tranported to realms of sweet dreamy emotions I've never experienced before. Thanks.
