For some unknown reason Judith's voice touches my heart in a way no other singer does. It is filled with so much longing, like all great classical music.
Judith looks so incredibly cute in this picture. I feel so blessed to be able to still hear her phenominal sound. How lucky we were & are to have had sweet Judith walk this earth with us.
Absolutely agree. She was so kind, and when people acknowledged it and were kind to her (she was so sweet that you wanted to be kind), she gave it right back, and gave it to the audience. Great lady!
OMG, divine beautiful Judith, I have loved you since you were with The Seekers and I've just listened to "The Carnival Is Over", my favourite 60s song of ALL time, followed by your solos of "The Olive Tree" and "Catch the Wind" before bursting into tears, me a 71 years old man, at your heart-wrenching performance of "Danny Boy". RIP dear Judith, you will live on in the hearts of all of us who were so glad and happy to have had you, through your records, in our lives and where you will forever remain. David, Crouch End, London, N8.
I believe it's true that everyone has an idea of a person they would have liked to know buried deep within their heart and whom they search for all their life. Some like myself are fortunate to actually see and hear that person in their walk through life. Judith Durham fulfilled that search. I honestly have been in love with her in most every way. From the 60's her pretty face was my vision of lovely beauty. Her special voice; the songs and music reached me and held my admiration and peacefully consoled. We have never met except in my mind and thru media, but if life would have been accommodating then she would be the one.
I’ve been hooked for 55years Judith. You are without doubt a treasure to the world. I ve never met you, but feel I know you and understand you. All of this from your beautiful music
@@philipgundill237 I think if Judith had sung this with Donovan, it would be the supreme version, Judith is unforced and doesn't have to try to make you feel, i found Crystal Gale to be forced to the point of feeling fake. Then of course we have Judith's voice, probably the greatest female singer ever. Donovan really did feel this song, it must be very very personal for him, you can feel it when he sings, i really think Judith would've completely complemented him, she has a unique ability to harmonise a blend in with male voices.
If Judith sung this in her lower register then even Donovan would be trembling. I mean this is brilliant but I never would have imagine she would have sung it in her upper register, but of course she pulled it off as usual.
How coincidental that i was listening to Donovan yesterday and only just now heard Judith's lovely version. Too much of a good thing can lead one to be spoiled-like that's a bad thing. All hail the voice of the Goddess
ALL songs in the world must be perfect on her voice. Doesn't matter the genre,Judith always sings with her heart and her versions will always bring me tears.
How the HELL can this song be sang in her upper register and still sounds d so savage good. I'm dreaming now and trying to imagine what it would have sounded in her lower register??, could it be even more beautiful?? , is that even possible?? The power she injects in her upper register is quite astounding as most singers who sing there cannot match.
+Charles Butler Could not have said it better myself. I stray away sometimes but always come back to this magnificent rendition. Donovan's version was just another popsong of the swinging 60's but this is PURE GOLD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I discovered Judith's "Mona Lisa" album through a music review in 1996. It remains one of my all time favourite albums of her solo career. Her voice is so unique and she is so beautiful.
First time I have ever heard Judith Durham sing this Donovan Song and, as ever for this singer, it is ABSOLUTELY F--ING WONDERFUL!. I sincerely hope that Donovan loves it, too, because he should.
Wonderful, haunting and emotional version of a great song. Judith Durham certainly takes a place among all outstanding folk music performers. L-Å Hansson Sweden
I love to hear Donovan sing this song but it's just as great to hear Judith sing it.It's coming up to 47 years ago now since the song got released.......
I heard Donovan sing this. I thought it was really good. Then I heard THIS version ---- oh, MY! The moment her voice came on, I had chills! Great song for Judith!

I like this version, as Judith's voice is always terrific, but my absolute favorite is Joan Baez and her late sister Mimi Farina's version. Their two beautiful voices sound like one. You can find their version on RUclips. Fortunately I don't have to choose, as I can listen to both songs on RUclips. I didn't even know Judith recorded this, so thanks much for posting it.
I didn't hear of her until a few months back, after she had already passed away :) Wonderful..yes. And I'm not just saying that. I've looked at other videos of her on RUclips and I agree.
@@douglasbrunt2675 It took a few days, but I followed through with your response. You're right. Some religious songs need to be done by that one singer that takes it above and beyond. This is one of those Thanks Douglas.

Donovan would be proud of this rendering of his song. Judith had an amazing voice. 👍
Sung beautiful. What a lovely voice. Will never find another you.🎼🎶🎶🎶🇬🇧🇬🇧🥲

Music... The transporter, the vehicle we all ride! ... The singer, the musicians.. We climb in with them and 'ride' the music.... "out that away"...
Thank you judith for the joy you gave us RIP 😢😊
I remember when they first became popular during my college days. One of my favorite groups. Judith Durham has an amazing voice!

Ah, the voice that came from that tiny girl. Rest in peace, beautiful Judith.❤
She was 5 ft 2, which I don’t really notice except when she was with the Seekers. Even then it didn’t matter and she was so cute. Great lady!

Brilliant and stunning at the same time. Wistful Donovan cover both have their pluses, but for sheer beauty this takes the buscuit.
But it's not as poignant as Donovan and Crystal Gayle.

Classical Judith Durham. Just perfection. The best female vocalist ever. Awesome range and control.
The most angelic, invoking female singing voice ever!
I can't say who had the greatest female voice but I can say that Judith is definitely way up there in the conversation...

A nice rendition and as much as I love her voice, Donovan sings it with such an aching longing feeling.
