I don’t think her prayers are no longer answered because of Mesmer , I think it’s because you kill it after her prayer clearly works to activate it then they are no longer answered because of the player tarnished
I like thinking that whoever is becoming the dancing lions are always selected as best friends who care more about the dance than combat. They don't care about being slashed, stabbed, or bludgeoned, they just want to dance with each other in pure synchronicity

I have a theory that the dancing lion title was literal at some point, my theory goes that the lions with horns that are in the lands between were once use for celebration but Marika took all the horned lions as spoils of war and so the hornsent began to use two people to make up for the missions lions
This is my favorite boss of the dlc. To me, he’s the most majestic and badass boss, out of all the bosses, for his god-like powers/appearance, and movements. In addition, I also think his soundtrack is absolutely fire, and is by far, the best soundtrack of this Elden Ring dlc, in my opinion. 👌🏿🔥🔥
i both love and hate the sound in its cutscene cause it sounds like both moving stone against stone and cracking bone and just hits that small spot right in my brain that makes it uncomfortable and amazing to listen to

Godfrey killed the Divine Beast, who was for the Hornsent what the Elden Beast is to the Golden Order. Divine Beast harnesses Lighting, Rain, Wind, snow. Godfrey killed the Storm Lord For Marika. Then he was sent away with the Tarnished. No Idea what the time line for this land looks like anymore. I Think Marika / 2 Fingers had her become God of the Lands first. Then Kill / Seal / Turn/ whatever all the followers of any other Gods so that only the 2 Fingers remained in he Lands Between as the Singular Golden Order. Before that happened and Godfrey was Still Lord. There was many different religions and they all just accepted it. Godfrey probably Prayed to Crucible Steve or whatever that one's name is.
Just a wild thought but could the divine beast be the loin that Godfrey had on his back! And when Marika took his grace she actually killed the beast in spirit causing the great betrayal and sent him to the “badlands” ( shadow realm) to fight and die hence when we fight Godfrey he rips him of his back.
Actually maybe just maybe what if the badlands are the shadow realm. Like I think Marika named here race numen because she was to ashamed if anyone knew she was shaman and to hide the shaman race. What if it's the same to keep the shadow realm hidden?
i think the hornsent are somewhat close to the persian race the ancient civilization burned by alexander the great their cities their ideology their history and their libraries were burned by alexander for he was terrified of their ideology and way of living just like marika who feared the hornsent
The hornsent were conquered because their ultimate weapon turned out to be 2 guys in a trench coat

The shadowlands are not the badlands... Plus spirit beasts are not divine beasts. So no connection.
