twisted divine element, which she weaved into the baleful scarlet" and "Perhaps then, the buds might find somewhere to gain purchase". The description of the Scarlet Bud tells us that the Buds were not rotten from the start, which combined with the fact that she weaved the divine element shows her combining the rot and the buds. As to why the pests are pink-ish too, It's probably caused by their nature to adapt to their enviroment, example being them using the shells to make their weapons.

In the opening trailer, his title was "Saint of the Deep", just as Romina's is "Saint of the Bud". Not only that, but Romina's polearm is rather similar to Aldrich's Lifehunt Scythe. Their movements are similar as well, and when you consider that Aldrich became what he was by devouring and becoming imbued by Gods, while Romina is the amalgam of the forms of an Outer God, it stands out to me as someone who absolutely enjoyed DS3 and thought Aldrich was a very interesting character.

It’s likely she was Numen, which would certainly have some relation to Marika. However, I think her “rebirth” as a Saint of Rot is likely more the reason for her title. Although, no-one knew of Messmer until the dlc, who was Marika’s own child- it could be that Romina also has some unsaid connection to Marika, even stronger than that of likely being the same race as her (Numen are native to the Land of Shadow, as we learn through Marika’s lore at the Shaman Village, and Romina attaching herself to a centipede/scorpion thing is likely also through the Numen’s/Shaman’s ability to meld their flesh to other things).
Definitely a good point though! It’s a bit ambiguous as to what exactly nominates someone to be a “Saint” in Elden Ring, so it’s an interesting thing to think about

In the trailer, marika is seen pulling gold wires from a body, and stands atop the structure of corpses. The narrator also talks about some betrayal thing. I can only assume that the betrayal is that of the hornsent (which is interesting because that means marika had some sort of agreement with them), and the structure is made of hornsent. Or maybe it was comprised of the jar innards, who knows.
One big thing that confuses me endlessly is the timeline as messmer is probably the son of marika and radagon. I wonder if the events of the massacre occurred before or after godfrey's era. Maybe it marika had a child with radagon before godfrey? Then seperated after so radagon could marry rennala and so marika could marry godfrey? Or did she leave the shadow realm and then come back to betray them? Nothing makes sense when I think about it deeply

"Every giant is red of hair, and Radagon was said to have despised his own red locks. Perhaps that was a curse of their kind."
Marika slept with giants. What a wanton stumpet.
But seriously, he wields flame spells. And drops kindling.
Also: "Messmer despised his own fire. Time and time again he hoped to rid himself of it, but ever did it burn.", "Every giant is red of hair, and Radagon was said to have despised his own red locks. Perhaps that was a curse of their kind.". Sounds very similar.
Either curse grew strong in Messmer as Radagon's son, or Radagon slept with giants and got an STD curse, or Marika slept with one even before the war and Radagon got and STD curse, that's why he's so salty.
Also, who said Radagon and Marika were ever separated? Statue doesn't say this, final boss fight shows transformation, not separation. Separation is implied by some events (Marika calling Radagon in the capital after Godfrey was banished), disproved by others (Marika and Radagon both dissapear at the same time at some point, masks used to disguise someone).

Romina is the best candidate to become the vessel of Goddess of Rot, as she fully embraces its power and even tries to establish its Order. However, she lacks the most important: being an Empyrean, so even Malenia would always get chosen by the Outer God in the end despite her resistance. The Rot and Bed of Chaos of Dark Soul has similar concept. They both give birth to new but twisted creatures, and their inflicted vessels have traits of insects. And if not controlled properly, they would destroy the balance of the world.

It wasn't. It only became separate after Marika raised the curtain over it, basically covering it from the light of elden ring and erdtree, and therefore, separating it from lands between.

It's popularly believed that the area in the middle of the base game map with the clouds shrouding it is where the Land of Shadow resides. As the Land of Shadow also seems to follow similar rules of rebirth almost as if there is also no rune of death there just like in the Lands between.

@@suronia1 I wouldn't be surprised, given that the dead often managed to wander into the land of shadow somehow. Cosmologically speaking, it's the *hell* of Elden Ring universe after all. That thing you mention is, for better or worse, also dead. But the fact that it hasn't encroach the land as much is the proof that the veil is still working. He's there by the virtue of the place, but his influence is not as powerful.
As for how his knights somehow ended up there as well, perhaps they used him as a conduit to go through the veil, much like how we used Miquella's body to reach the land of shadow.

What did Marika do? She invited/answered to the call of another outer god (the elden beast) to usher in the age of the golden order. One such being that may have been at war if not have always been blocked by the hornsent and their divine warriors that they may not be able to invade the lands between. As its name suggests, may have been a place desired by many Gods whose territories surround the “lands between”. After all, if you are a God who is in conflict with other Gods, why wouldn’t you want the place which purpose is to birth new Gods? Just imagine the power it will grant you to triumph over your competitors.
Such a cruel twist of fate, a land whose natural inhabitants were the crucible - conducted their culturally-ethical rituals in their own lands were overtaken by beings they have wronged by colluding with the very beings they’re preventing from taking over their world. Thus, Marika have sinned for she had forsaken their own kin (countrymen if you may consider) albeit their physical differences because of a series of unresolved hatred bloomed to endless wars.
Another thing to consider is how the “Elden Beast” seemingly have abandoned the lands between at some point. Maybe, after taking over the place and have orchestrated to seal the Divine Gate to prevent other outer Gods from birthing new of their kind (as Radahn stopped the stars, the blue dancer sealing the kindred of rot, Miquella charming Mohg who is the champion of the blood mother, and Placidusax taken out of his throne as the Lord of The Lands between preventing him from empowering the dragon god), the Elden Beast saw no more need of its inhabitants and took off only to be also sealed by Marika herself as she did the Shattering.

Yes the other person replying saying she is a Numen is correct. She became a Saint from the Horsent Potentates divine rituals. Romina and St. Trina are the only two confirmed Saints that we know of by name. They have the ability to meld their flesh with other things. For example St. Trina was melded with Miquella and once being abandoned by him she is left melded to a flower in the St. Trina's swamp area. Romina has melded herself with 3 other beings those being as follows a butterfly, a scorpion and a centipede and I guess technically the Outer God of Rot since it does reside within her.
