Values on these are tanking out of control. The base will be under $60k in 2 years. The Turbo S took the biggest hit. I am referring to the sedan. Yes, its as Porsche and it carries a heritage in terms of built quality and exclusiveness, but at the end of the day, its still an EV. The tech on electric cars are always evolving faster than gas cars just like a cell phone. The tech on EVs a few years old is considered old today. 7:17 The first issue you ran into , is you tried comparing porsche to tesla range based on epa numbers. never do that. Take tesla's range and subtract 30% from it. Than take Porsche's range and add 20% to it - those will be the real life range numbers 15:18 how is that relevant to literally anything whatsoever??
How is it overpriced? Porsche is a premium car with its sporting heritage. You pay for this, build quality, ride, handling, engine etc. So why should you price at Tesla prices if Tesla is only good at straight line performance?
@kenny w I 💯% agree with your comment. I hope you watched the entire vlog where I make that point come across. I actually just sold my RWD model Taycan and purchased a Taycan 4S. It’s worth every penny!! Thanks for watching!
@@slick147First of all it’s a family sedan built for public roads not the track so if you want track performance you have to buy aggressive tires and CC brakes. Even with those few MINOR additions it can still beat the dog💩out of a Taycan turbo S on the road. Here’s proof: ruclips.net/video/iJ-IY6iRBgI/видео.htmlsi=hsv98gbdWLt3g4Oa
Not an EV fan BUT the Porsche has another aspect over the Tesla. The interior looks a lot better and a real dash board. I could never have a car with a flat screen. I just looks so cheap.
It's overpriced because it's "Porsche", plain and simple. You pay to play when it comes to this brand. No hate for Porsche as the cars are nice but don't be delusional and try to justify $100k or $200k+ for any vehicle. If you can afford a Taycan comfortably then be grateful and count your blessings that you're in a position to be able to buy that "experience" because that is what you're paying for.
@Cameron Basille you put it extremely well. The Porsche Taycan is absolutely an experience and that’s what you pay for.. I also agree that’s its a blessings to own and still pinch myself when see it my garage. It’s been over 25 years when I started my career. And my first car was a 1978 Camaro with no AC and paid $1,000. Funny story it took me 24 months to pay back my BrothersN Law who lent me the money. Thanks for your comment!!
1. Teslas are having issues with smelly interior from water issues getting sucked into cabin filter every time it rains. 2. Teslas are not waterproofed properly in the examples I've seen. The paint in the wheel wells is thin and there is not enough caulk in the edging as well. There are many examples of rusting Teslas on RUclips, as well as examples of rusted electrical grounds. 3. On my brother's panel gaps on his new Tesla, they're uneven between the front windshield and the glass roof panel. It resulted in a crack all the way down the center of the roof glass, and he's been bugging them for months trying to get it covered to no avail. 4. My other brother has a Tesla as well, the model x, and his passenger side window sensor doesn't work half the time, so when i shut it, it makes a banging sound and won't shut. He has to play with it half the time to get it to shut. 5. Ride quality, style, design, on the Taycan is superior by far. I love the dealership. I like that i can call them about anything and get celebrity treatment and get whatever i need done instantly. I've put 40k miles on my Taycan, and the only thing I've changed is tires and wiper blades. It's flawless otherwise, and i drive the shit out of it every day. I live 3 miles from work and push it hard. 💪 it's solid. Even the mission e wheels have hit some serious potholes and flattened tires because of the la roads, all the tires were replaced for free at the dealership, and the wheels took it like a champ and look new. 6. And pricing on the Taycan is hard for most people to understand. That's because warranty is a really big deal on these cars. You could have 2 of the exact same Taycans going for $20k difference. Why? Because there are all kinds of options like fancy wheels, big brakes, electronic panoramic roof, performance package with the big battery, dual screens, the $7k sound system, and most importantly, the Certified Preowned Warranty that adds 2 full years of bumper to bumper coverage and has no mileage limit. It's transferable, and so are the wheel and tire coverage and the windshield coverage. And these are not scam warranties, these are REALLY important. You will get your money back almost guaranteed getting these, and they transfer! So you could have a 2022 Taycan 4s with nothing on it, cheap paint, crap wheels, rusting tiny steel brakes, small battery, crappy range, no warranties, going for $76k, or you could have one for $120k that is a fast as a Turbo, responds IMMEDIATELY to acceleration pedal, big brakes that don't rust, mission wheels, leather, dual screens, 275 miles of range, expensive ice metallic or chalk paint, electric charge doors, and everything is covered for another 5 years...... There's NO WAY I would go for a $76k Taycan. The least you're going to spend on a good one is $120k. I spent $136k on mine, and to replace it with all the stuff you really want, it's the same price!! And that's IF you can find a used one with everything you want at a porsche dealership so you can get the certified warranty. So the prices for the good ones haven't changed much at all. It's the garbage ones that selective buyers don't care about that are dropping in price.
Make sense on every points. My Model Y do not have the problems you mentioned, but I agree with you getting Taycan is a good option, a smart option, if you can afford it.
I think it IS overpriced. I really wanted to like this car. Drove the CT4 CT4s and a Turbo S Sedan. The car just has zero charisma. It feels way too big and way too cramped. A 1 pedal driving mode might have helped add to the feel and driving enjoyment for me sadly Porsche won't allow that. We are seeing now on the used car market that yes... it was overpriced. I get notifications DAILY of price drops on the taycan used market and pretty much everyone I tried had a dealer begging for me to make an offer and they were already underwater on the cars. The Turbo S I tried was $273k CDN MSRP and was down to $135k with the salesman saying they would probably take $125k. The 4S models are already in the 90k CDN range asking price. I bet it will be $55-60k next year. The Macan and new Taycan with 50% more range is just the cherry on top of all the other market issues at play as well.
I drove a Tesla Model Y for a week and would never buy one. Not well made, quirky design choices that are sub-optimal for driver safety, and now we find out that their range is way overstated. My dream would be to win just enough money in PowerBall to buy either a Porsche Taycan or the Audi eTron GT, they are the best examples so far of what an EV can be.
It's a shame the market has shifted so dramatically. The best bang for the buck is purchasing certified pre-owned. I'm in the no more than 65K range, however what I can get from Porsche at that price is the bottom of the line 2021 RWD model whereas with the Tesla Model S Long Range I can spend near 20K less, thus having better range, better performance and spend another 5K on exterior and interior upgrades to make my Model S modified. Don't get me wrong a love the look of the Porsche Taycon, but I'm not chasing perceived prestige nor eyeballs.
I struggle with this..the taycan is one of my favorite cars on the market. But, yeah, it seems sooo much more expensive than everything else (not just Tesla). One thing that really bugs me is how little interior space there is for such a large car. Also the tech is pretty clunky (with some questionable ergonomics too). Still I just want one. Regarding depreciation, I’m a bit concerned because Porsches residual value on a lease is around 52% after 3 years vs in the 60s for most of their other models. I could buy a CPO one similar to yours for about 82k currently but if that residual estimate is correct, in 2 years it will be worth around 55k… so I’d still lose around 27k 2 years. So I continue to waffle …
I ordered an ST and plan to abuse the bike rack because this will be my primary car. The biggest negative for me is the software/ touchscreens that seem decades behind my current BMW. However, due to my countries fiscality this was pretty much the only thing that really drives nice and doesn’t murder me fiscally
Notice you driving in bridgeland. Next time your in hit me up I’m currently trying to decide rather to buy a new Audi GT E-trim or a new 2024 taycan or used taycan
In the world of EVs, I’m afraid Porsche is not as aspired as in the ICE world. The cabin design and the electronic interface are miles behind Tesla. Sounds harsh but it is what it is.
Over Priced with huge Depreciation only way to buy this thing is used. Even then Porsche dealership maintenance costs? Yikes! An ad ran at your 2 minute mark-kind of aggressive if you want to build your subs very annoying.
The only beef I have with your video is the range you mentioned. You must not have the PB+ battery if you only get 200 miles on a charge. Even my turbo can get 260 if I keep the speed down, but it's a Porsche and needs to be driven appropriately. The Tesla claims to get 400 miles, but you never actually get that based on all of those I've spoken to and what's on YT.
bro, people like him have NO wealth. All you see is his wealth in a plastic box with a porsche badge on it. Deep down inside, he could lose all of that at any given moment.

You don’t need to compare a $160k Porsche to a Tesla to point out bad fit and finish and build quality on the Tesla, the $45k VW ID.4 stomps any Tesla into the ground with it’s immaculate build quality. Idk if it’s a German thing or a VW AG thing..
The Taycan is a lovely and sportive car, even better than the 911 so far. This bothers a lot...I know ;). I love driving my Taycan and I would never by a Tesla. Porsche is PORSCHE.
