    I have a '05 LS that is exactly like that one (color and engine). I've had it for almost 3 years and 21,000 miles (going on 117,000). I can say I still enjoy driving it even though it needs TLC bad (coil packs, catalytic converter issues). I am getting a full tune up for it, brakes all the way around in 2-3 months, and still researching the cat issue. These cars have gotten a bad rep, but if you want a good driver that can handle, brake, and go all while being comfortable and looking good, this is a great car to own. I love my Hot Rod Lincoln

      i bought a 2003 ls v6 in 2015 for about $2,000. took a gamble on the car since battery was dead and it was being sold as is. had to get new battery, replace 2 seats, wash carpet, change fluids, tires, brakes, thermostat, and computer. it drives alright, 2nd gear kicks in a little hard, suspension needs work, might have a leak in the headers and need new catalytic converters. body of the car is pretty good (except for bumpers) and we cleaned up the interior so im really liking it and hope to keep it for a little longer

    • @pctshooter
      @pctshooter 6 лет назад +7

      The MKz AWD with the 3.0T is very quick but it doesn't handle like the LS as it's FWD based. The LS is based on the DEW98 platform which in, my opinion, is the best chassis from Ford ever for a sedan. The LS came with passive rear steering but, Jaguar decided to go without it. I think that was a mistake. I've driven the S-type and it didn't have the quick rotation like the LS. Some people don't like the rear steer but it makes the LS much more tossable. The LS is relatively light at 3700lbs and it corners flat. Mine has no moonroof and that makes a big difference in the CG which aids in handling. It's such a shame Ford gave up on this car due to marketing. While not fast by today's standards, it is a 145-150mph car when de-limited. Gas mileage sucks though. Sitting at stoplights wastes a lot of gas so, it really hurts the overall economy. Cruising on the highway nets decent fuel mileage but city traffic kills it. Long distance trips at highway speeds will see 400+ miles per tank but, combined city and some highway driving will be around 280 miles per tank. Mine (2006) did 26.7 mpg averaging 80-85 mph going from St Petersburg, FL to Waycross, GA and back. The cooling system components are plastic so, problems will occur no matter how many miles it's driven. Time is the issue. There could be 10k on one LS and 100K on another but if they've both been around for 10 years, they are likely to have the same cooling system issues. That being said, when they are in good working order, this car flies. Another thing, the performance figures of this car was gathered using the all-season rubber. Summer rubber significantly enhances the performance.

      I argue they dont every time. Why pay Gm all that money for the horsepower and torque that Lincoln Ford and Mercury places in their base cars? Mkz and mks and continental all come with 400 horsepower with no v8. V is a shame. Lincoln provides V luxury on a base line level

  • @Ryukachoo
    @Ryukachoo 10 лет назад +18

    the LS always had powertrain issues, but it mostly boils down to
    1) the v6 eats ignition coils, like mad, the v8 is fine
    2) the transmission will have problems if you dont keep up with fluid changes
    aside from that its middle of the road reliability

    Had an LS Sport V8 - handled well above its class. Eventually replaced with an Audi A6 and that was a step down; RWD lets you play. But yes, horrible gas mileage no matter how you drove, seats terrible thigh support for 6' or taller, and the Alpine unit was a joke compared to what Bose was putting in other cars of the time period. There was a lot potential here, that Ford never developed - they could have ended up with an actual contender and instead forfeited the market segment / really stupid. RUclips algorithm gave me this review, surprised to find a really young Sofyan Bey - probably not all that long out of college at this point / wish I'd found my way into a car review career then instead the rather anonymous man at a desk I've become.

    I have an 05 with a V8. I bought it in 08 with 55K miles on the clock. By far the biggest issue with this car is the coil packs. What I have learned is that the LS must occasionally be taken on long drives, like over 1000 miles. I have found when this is done, the coils behave themselves. Also, I have the transmission serviced about every 3 years, regardless of mileage, or it gets kind of cranky. Overall its a fine cruiser with plenty of power and very comfortable at highway speeds. I would add if you are not handy with working on cars, this is not the car for you. To own an LS you really need to know the ins and outs of modern car repair

    The 02 Lincoln V 6's was shitty on power. CTS beats it hands down. But the Lincoln V8 is nice with good pickup thanks to the V8 torque. My beef on this car----too narrow of a trunk but pass through helps and the seats are too short for a 6' 1 tall person like me. I think the mid center console uneven swirl around the top of the A/C vents and Ford's stabilitrack is not as good as Cadillac nor are the interior lighting.. • @StormAutoAdventures
      @StormAutoAdventures 10 лет назад +2

      It gained 28 HP for the 2003 model year. My brother has an '01 Lincoln Continental which has a 275 HP V8 and weighs 100 pounds more than the LS V8 and he cannot floor it off the line because it burns rubber going down the road. I couldn't believe how fast his Conti was when I first drove it. The 280 HP / 286 LBFT '03-06 LS V8 is even quicker. Even one of the crappy magazines were able to get a 14.8 out of this car. It has 5 HP more than a 1995 Camaro Z28 which has a 5.7L V8 in it... Not bad for a 3.9L V8. For a car like this driven on public roads, it has plenty of power. It's not supposed to be a race car or anything like that.

      Kj Hamp I will really trust the last 2 years of a car that has been problematic. If you are mechanically inclined, go for it. They are a nice car, just preventative maintenance is required. Like an AUDI.

    Loved my '03 !!
    You give too much credit to Ford. It's Lincoln (Ford) but is just a Jaguar XJ8.

    Enough is enough. I attracted by beautiful body, unfortunately start failed after 65000 miles . It costed me 700 dollars each time to reset 5 times my Airbags and Speed Switch.Also Transmission felt twice . In meantime, it is very hard to find great mechanics for it , very hard to fixed it. I don’t why manufacturer did not care customers like us who loves it but I felt many times got Chested by beautiful Lincoln LS V8 which I could not sell it even by 800 dollars to anyone with 85000 miles. So I drop it at Recycling by 285 dollars yesterday at Ontario CA because dealers pay only 160 dollars.

    They need to correct the 0 to 60 time on google. Its not 6.8 seconds its 6.4 and that was measured by an obd in an 18 year old car that shifts oddly.

    • @Blazeww
      @Blazeww 3 года назад

      Kinda crazy that this car could beat magnum pis Ferrari in a 0 to 60 and to 100. Tho without the speed limiter adjusted the Ferrari wins at top speed with 141 compared to 134 for the Lincoln.

    Why would this ever be considered a good used buy? Yeah, it has cooled seats, but so does the MKZ that succeeded it, and the MKZ has almost the same level of performance and doesn't cost a small fortune to maintain or fuel (18MPG premium = the equivalent cost of 14MPG on regular, compared to 22MPG on regular for the Z). Besides RWD, I don't see anything special about this car.

    I've never gotten why racing an engine is supposed to impress anyone. OK, Mustang V8s with a growl, but still worst thing one can do. And nasty ashtray? Hmmm, I guess he eats Baby Ruth candy bars and throws the wrappers out the window. Hell yes, hand me a cigar!

    Don`t make illegal merge on video in the future. You don`t turn into the far lane from stop. You have to always merge into the closest lane. You hit someone coming from the opposite direction that far lane is theirs to turn into . You are always at fault for not following road rules and common sense rules. Otherwise a great car .
