Top Gear's Chris Harris life of cars part 1 // The Jonny Smith Late Brake Show

- Опубликовано: 2 ноя 2020
- Welcome to The Jonny Smith Late Brake Show episode of Top Gear's Chris Harris life of cars part 1. Top Gear is the most famous car show, and Chris Harris is the small chap with no shortage of driving talent, who brings the wheelman element to the TV trio.
In something of a Late Brake Show exclusive Jonny takes his awful brown easy chairs down to Bristol to chat about Chris' life in and around cars, from work experience at Autocar, to the heady Top Gear madness of today. In this two-part Idol Chat, Harris, typically very guarded about his personal cars and private life, shows Jonny some of his charismatic automotive possessions and opens up about what his career journey has been like; What it's like to drift fast cars, throw eggs at Matt LeBlanc in a 2CV, break into RUclips world, crash a bit, race a bit, receive random phone calls from Chris Evans, get trolled and let a puppy eat his Porsche 911 GT3.
Remember to watch part 2 coming out later today.
Thank you for watching The Late Brake Show. .

Two of the best, with great conversation.
I’ve been following Chris for years and always thought that he would be great on mainstream TV so I was pleased to hear he was on TG.
Given his talent and experience, I found it heartbreaking to hear about the abuse he received. Genuinely shocked and saddened.
Of course no one should have abuse thrown at them like that but he was, and is, the main reason why so many watch Top Gear and his knowledge, skill, experience and talent is clear to see.
Jonny - yet another brilliant episode. They have always been good but the latest ones have been some of the most interesting shows I’ve watched on any screen. Thank you.
Chris - should you ever read this, thank you so much for continuing to do what you are so good at. You are one of the best in the industry and long may it continue.
I always thought Chris H should have been on TG from the start, great interview thanks to Jonny and Chris for making this happen
I was going to write a similar comment, but this is written better than my effort would have been!! Echo the sentiments expressed.
Really enjoying the freedom RUclips gives to genuinly talented enthusiasts such as Jonny and Chris to entertain in the way and detail, that mainstream TV and media can't touch.
Thank you.
Re-iterating what you [and James Bowen] have said already. Terrible to hear of the abuse and the effect that had on Chris. Let's hope some of this positivity makes it back to him - we were always here in support of him and his work but the haters were drowning us out!
Always had a lot of respect for Chris as basically the only one on TG who knows his stuff. Only got more respect for him after this - even if I could afford a super car I also would take a garage full of tinkered with for track days and crap meaningful cars every time... MK2 golf GTi 16v anyone? 😃
Couldn’t agree more
The two people I’d most like to see in a car series together. Brilliant.
and richard porter
And Vicky and Tiff.
Alright, I'll second that
100%, these two really love cars, I have watched both for years
Keep up the great work guys ,
More content with u both in would be great 👍👍👍😁
@@MF_Henri No.
Chris always gets painted as the ‘boring’ one when he’s paired with others. He’s quite the opposite! He’s winning at life.... his car collection is a perfect example of a true Petrolhead. I have way more respect for people that just enjoy ‘normal’ stuff without the need for attention. Enjoyed every minute of this Jonny 😎👍
Thank you. Hopefully part 2 is even better.
@@TheLateBrakeShow I’m expecting him to uncover his secret garage of Tamiyas? No?
@@TheLateBrakeShow can't wait Jonny!
He's certainly the least boring IMHO. And as you point out the most genuine. He is what gives the new (and arguably successful format) Top Gear its credibility as a car show, as well as an entertainment show.
It's good to see him here, I wish he would have some sort of semi regular presence on RUclips.
@@TheLateBrakeShow When is part 2 coming? This was brilliant. I don’t want to miss it.
What a total eye opener interview, I think it's dreadful that Chris Harris has suffered so much abuse from viewers of Top Gear and had to endure the awful Chris Evans !! Just for the record Mr. Harris gives Top Gear the technical automotive element necessary and he combines a brilliant sense of humour !!
Chris is the best thing about the new top-gear . i love his enthusiasm when it is about cars
Chris Harris is brilliant and the only reason I still watch TG! What he says is factual, yet funny & entertaining. Top bloke.
Many Top Gear fans are completely toxic and pretentious idiots. You can see it in the comment section on most videos. Idiotically patriotic about the cars from whatever country they are from (even though their cars are most likely made in other countries and owned by foreign companies). I try not to go on the comment section anymore.
Ironic that you feel little Chris suffered so much abuse, but in the very same sentence do the same thing to big Chris....see how easy it's done?
What did Evans do to Chris?
Chris Harris is one of the best things to ever happen to TG, and he is obviously in his element. Hope to see you there for many years to come!
He is the only real car enthusiast on it .Do not even know what Paddy f in mcguinness , is doing on it ,apart from jobs for the boys .Stick to F in Take me out , and that's shite
@@LOTPOR0402 errr you mean like Hammond the regional radio "star" i think its working ok currently, it would be worse if they tired to reboot the original trio or omething. people forget how dire top gear was quite a few times when it first came back . anyway at least we can agree at least its not chris evans :D
@@LOTPOR0402 not a paddy fan but you have to admit that the current trio do have a chemistry and overall i think it works well. Tbh if anything Flintoff was dire when he first joined but even he has improved so much. I like it. Its not the same but its not bad either.
@@LOTPOR0402 The reason BBC are dead set on hiring people who kind of like cars a bit and not car fanatics like Chris or Rory is because they’re trying to create a dynamic, three car obsessed presenters would clash i think.
Honestly, one of the best interview pieces I've watched in YEARS. Better mental health awareness than almost anything I've seen. Also big fan of everyone loving 205's.
Got to agree, great interview / chat between two people who love cars for all the right reasons. Makes me want to dig out the photos of my 205 GTI that are in the loft somewhere, a car I miss to this day and would buy again in a heartbeat if they weren't so expensive now...
Agreed, and if you appreciate the MH stuff, I presume you watch Gone Fishing?
ruclips.net/video/v78EDeQOAn4/видео.html
After all the Chris Harris "content" out there, videos, podcasts etc. I actually thought there wasn't much more to know about the guy, but it was really interesting to hear him talk a bit more about his personal experiences and outlook. Good on him for talking openly about the mental pressures of being in the public eye.
Absolutely yaar..
As a car journalist, having Chris Harris on your show is a great scoop. Having Chris Harris say he does the interview because of you and reveal stuff in a personal interview - and then several times through part 1 and part 2 give cred to Jonny Smith and his work as a car journalist, is amazing. It is such a generous thing for Harris to do and so good for Smith and everyone else in the industry to hear.
"don't take the piss out of caravans" the main difference between old top gear and new.
Your comment is much too underrated. Thanks mate.
it was a wry comment. Comedic irony.
I've always liked Chris Harris and now I like him even more knowing his struggle.
He's been the standout car journalist for years.
Two bosses!
Lovecars, Jonny and Chris would make a good show.
Tiff and Chris make it happen!
nah... i'd prefer more car involved
Bosses? Patrick Henry once said ” give me liberty or give me death. " Chris Harris just said, "I will do until the government says I can't anymore." Guess which one has a set of balls.
WHAT YOU DOING HERE?
I really liked Chris Harris and Matt LeBlanc together, I thought they had chemistry that worked. The best episode was the bigfoot one in the US with the ridiculous sized truck.
It's been said multiple times but these two really are the pinnacle of automotive journalism in my opinion. You can sense the passion and professionalism from both yet they both have the sense of 'mate down the pub' realism that makes them such a joy to watch. I hope to see many more collaborations as i could honestly watch this all day.
Chris is. Not so sure about me. Thank you though.
Despite all the hate he has mentioned he gets, I reckon there’s as many of us who really appreciate what Chris Harris has done for TG. Loved this podcast, thanks for setting this one up Jonny!
Agree, only that it would be a lot more appreciating him, far, far outweighing the number of dufuses messaging him, ranting online etc.
Chris Harris! Chris Evans is a total waste of space no! He nearly blew the whole top gear franchise. Sorry Chris Evens if you read this.. but you are so not the "Big man", you have the money sure. But your basic insecurity shows as a need to make yourself appear bigger than anyone around you. This was true back in the TGF days and still is now. Get yourself some treatment with a good phyco!
Could not agree more. Well said!
ruclips.net/video/v78EDeQOAn4/видео.html
100%
Chris is guarded about his life outside cars. I had the pleasure of being his Paddock Marshal at a charity track day and spent a few minutes chatting to him while we queued for coffee. Two parents, we could have talked about our kids or any other subject, but we spent the whole time talking about... 911s.
This is why Chris Harris is my absolute favorite car person/presenter.Glad he's on top gear as to me he's the best they've ever had.
Jonny, well done for letting Chris Harris just talk - good interviewing. Thanks.
I just think Chris Harris is such an amazing and talented person. His knowledge about cars and the passion for it is second to none, just wow , what a splendid man
All right mate, he'll send you a life size poster, just ask.
Thank you Chris for being so open and shining a light on mental health issues, it’s good to talk.
I hope Chris hasn’t broken his back carrying the rest of the Top Gear crew
Underrated comment
I don’t mind fred but paddy is completely wrong.
The bloke talks about trolling and bullying and then you decide to post your comment.
Top work....
My god....how true . I swear he's single handedly trying to saving the automotive TV presenter sector.
Alex T shut up you fairy. It's pointing out that he's the best one out of the team. How is it trolling or bullying. You need to understand what is what when you come out with stupid comments. Honestly you must be this soft new generation that believes "everyone is a winner"... You're going to get a real reality check one day. Now you have a good day in your world of fairy's and Unicorns.

So sad to hear about negativity towards Chris Harris. Seems like such a knowledgable, genuine bloke. I've watched him since the early days and read lots of his articles. Its fantastic that you've done this Johnny, keep up the great work!
What negativity?
@@sorenknudsen1087 have you.... not watched the video?
I wasn’t aware of the negativity at the time. I do remember, myself at the time, not being pleased with Chris Evans (good on radio, but not for Top Gear) but really liked the other two. And then, when Paddy and Freddy got involved, I really did think there was a bullying form of banter towards Chris that I wasn’t happy with. Recent series’s have clearly rubbed that out, but seeing him sit there in this video, there’s no way the perceived bullying would be real as he’s got such a switched on head about him. He wouldn’t allow it, but the production team must’ve thought it was okay to do. “That’s how lads integrate, innit?” Er, no.
Great video, really looking forward to part 2.
@@BeanoMark yeah glad to see someone else worried about how he was getting bullied a little.
Kudos Chris. Especially for talking openly about counselling. It should be a constant element of all our lives
Totally agree, for someone in the spotlight to talk about it openly, without hesitation takes guts but its the truth, no point pretending stress gets to us all. Chris & Johnny (inc Harry & Ian) have a real passion for cars & present it genuinely without the baggage that some other presenters do.
@@kd253 well said
Both Chris and Matt saved top gear. You made it your own, and in many ways made it a better show. You didn't replace the previous presenters, nor tried to copy them, you led the show in a new and fresh direction. Bravo!
It's amazing to see Chris talk openly about how much the first series and subsequent abuse has affected him. What a trooper for sticking it out. He is the most watchable presenter on that show and gives it credibility.
Watch the grand tour
@@zakr1187 what Grand Tour?! The last one I watched was about 12 months ago and was about boats.
I can't believe how some people can be so nasty when someone so passionate about their subject is giving it all. Chris Harris is absolutely superb. He's down to earth, knows his subject inside out and can actually drive. The man is a legend. Does anyone else think Johnny Smith and Chris Harris should start their own car show?
“Hello. I’m NOT Schmee”. Thank the Lord for that.
Very well said.
Schmee is the most irritating, horrible person on line.
@@tezzrterry7485 no argument here!
@@tezzrterry7485 to the un initiated, why is schmee horrible?
Jonny seems like a very self aware and sensitive person. Not suggesting this is a weakness but a very tactile strength. Would love a pint with him.
Chris Harris and Harry Metcalfe are two people I could listen too until I die.. Both from Evo Mag and have a great history and background from where the 'normal' bloke hails from. Excellent vid again Jonny - looking forward to part 2.
@Spud Chuffington jones yes it is. If you haven't done so already, check out Chris's interview with Harry on the collecting cars podcast, its a gem.
SteveB couldn't agree more loved Chris's writing with Evo years ago and Harry is just a gem could listen to them both for hours. Loved this ramble.
I was initially sad about the end of Chris Harris On Cars, knowing his in depth reviews for hardcore enthusiasts would be severely curbed.
But I didn't know how desperately TG would need him. Chris Evans trying to be Clarkson was debilitating, Sabine's wooden personality made work emails look exciting, and no one wants to hear what some journalist they've never heard of has to say about anything. Matt was fun to watch but his departure was inevitable. It was Harris's skill & knowledge that saved TG, his opinions were valued and his well spoken articulated language made him perfect for the role.
Agreed, once they got rid of Evans things started to turn around thanks to Chris, Matt, Rory!
idk why but harris had this knack with presenting. I subscribed to autocar long ago because of him and his amazing videos there. Ever since then I've been following him Drive and Chris Harris on Cars. LOOOOL i remembered when Clarkson got fired and the debacle happened I had a strong feeling Harris would move to TG.
@@jackdumanat49 Agreed. I honestly can't get enough of the guy. Great driving, insightful and thoughtful commentary, and seems like a "normal" petrolhead that we can all relate too. (Aside from his god-like drifting skills.)
In case you haven't heard, Sabine is battling with cancer.
Totally agree with you!!
I remember tweeting Tom Ford saying that Chris Evans is just a rich guy who can buy nice cars & him tweeting back agreeing with me. Chris Harris is the guy who managed to keep my love of Topgear.
Hope you see this Chris, but my mates and I absolutely love you, your reviews are profoundly entertaining. You're every bit as good as Clarkson, and a hell of a better driver!
Chris is at his best when he's being geeky. Jonny, Chris & Harry Metcalfe would be a great team for the telly.
I'd add Edd China into the mix,
Agreed
Perfection in this comment 👍
Harry and Chris used to write together for EVO and Jonny used to write for CAR during the same era back in the day. Still have back issues of both because of the writing of those three.
Dude! You are completely right! That is a perfect match!
Chris is THE car man of a generation because he isn’t shouting about himself, yet you see his personality coming through his passion. I’ve bought cars off his recommendation (cars he’s owned, not just reviewed) and he absolutely holds Top Gear together. Wonderful to hear him talk about his experience. I have so much time, love and respect for this man. Thank you 🥰🙏

I am exactly the same age as Chris Harris. I saw him in a vid, driving the old, EP3 Civic Type R. He said he wanted one in his garage. At the time, I was looking at old AMGs, Maserati quattroporte from the 2005 /6 era.
I now have a 2004 Civic Type R and love it.
@@jamesrobert4106I’m a bit jealous, I had a 2002 type-r in my early 20s, around 2008-2010 and to this day it’s the best car I’ve ever owned!
This video confirms to me that you guys are two of the most lovely, genuine celeb (sorry) car guys around. You show a true passion and and love for cars but clearly show that at the end of the day you are only human like the rest of us. I truly admire keeping your family and personal life seperate from your work life.
Jonny and Chris talking cars! Life is great. Take care Chris chin up mate.
I don't usually comment on videos, but feel compelled to do so on this. Well done, great honest and frank interview. Mental health is such a struggle for so many, especially in current times. It's great to realise that no matter who you are, you can talk about it. Chris, your openness will inspire others to open up, which can only be a positive thing. Thank you. And,... keep up the great work you two!
Everyone should go on Instagram and send Chris some positive DM's. People take the time to slag people off but never to send some positivity. It went completely un-noticed to me the amount of abuse he might be getting and think it's bang out of order. Loved this interview. Good chat.
I dont think he checks them, probably as a rule now for the sake of his own sanity. I sent him one about two months ago and it still hasn't been opened. Still I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to send some more encouraging words his way

I think we can agree that 90% of sane car enthusiasts the world over have a hell of a lot of respect for Mr Harris... And what a fantastic Channel to boot!!! 2 legends in my opinion... Best video I have seen on YT in many months
I could sit and listen to you and Chris talk about cars all day, really looking forward to the second part. He's such a genuine down to earth guy.

Chris saved Top Gear IMO. I've followed him sinse the RUclips days, you do still have original loyal fans. The other two are good entertainers, but I don't care about their opinion on car's like I do Chris's. Keep up the good work and ignore the internet trolls.
I watched season 29 and its not that bad... I takes some time for us to like the new presenters. Chris Harris is a good replacement for top gear.. He is good as your old favourites Clarkson Hammond May & Tiff Niddel

Thank-you Mr Harris for letting us in and thank-you Jonny for being the awesome chap to do it. Two motoring genius's
Two of the very few auto journalists that actually know what they are talking about. Very refreshing!
Jonny this was epic - and particularly epic to see Chris showing that we’re all human when shit hits the fan. Thank you for bringing this to us!!
If it's any consolation Chris, I and many others have held you in the highest regard as a car journo cos you can actually fucking drive!!!
TG now is awesome and it's fresh and that's fun to watch my kids love watching it with me and since they're not so into cars like I am, it gives me a chance to share what being a petrol head is all about, so thank you for that.
Chris has been making entertaining videos about cars long before going to Top Gear where he continues to do that.
Why would Top Gear even consider choosing anybody else who doesn't have such experience and such a huge following world wide?
And let's not forget Neil's amazing video making skills.
Chris and Neil have always made a phenomenal team.
Chris, we have always loved your videos.
Keep up the good work.
PS: The haters have always been more vocal than the rest. And if they don't like the content, they're free to make their own content for us to judge.
I could sit and watch Chris Harris on TV all day. You're a legend mate.
Simply brilliant interview. Respect to Mr Harris - a proper car nut whose articles I have read through the Autocar and Evo years before his arrival on RUclips. Loved the Harris/Carey time on RUclips (and wish it was back to be honest). Not the biggest TG fan but when Chris is given the chance to do something on his own, it's world class (that Stirling Moss tribute gave me goosebumps). Looking forward to Part 2. PS Have to say, so far everything you've done on the Late Brake Show has been brilliant.
I couldn't put it more eloquently myself!
Yup, same - couldn’t have put it better
The one we have all been waiting for.
Chris Harris and Harry Metcalf, two legends of motoring , intelligent, interesting and modest.. Lol, talking Peugeot, I remember seeing Steve Cropley driving his Pug 309gti up the hillclimb at Prescott .
All this hate toward Chris are people who never watched him on RUclips growing up and have no idea how much he knows about cars as well as his driving skill. He is still the most influential car journalist for me and always love to listen to him talk about cars and generally agree with his opinions as well
I’ve been a big Chris Harris fan for many many years, through his various iterations.
I am saddened that parts of our society have been so hurtful. I was brought up to be respectful and if you don’t have something nice to say , keep quiet. Keep up the great work Jonny. Respect to you both.
WHAT a guy, amazing person! Rare to see someone so "famous" so honest
It is rare for me to enjoy a RUclips personality and then find them in conversation being themselves and like them more. What a good and decent man. Two good and decent people who just want to talk about cars.
Chris Harris, NOT shite
Thanks for doing this guys,
I was a kid who every August 1st would walk the 5 minutes to the nearest Dual Carriageway, and sit and just look for the new registrations.
Studied books, drew cars, all the car geek stuff I could get into, even going from Lego to Tamiya and other RC cars; so you 2 fellas to me, are people I can look to as similar to me, although have taken that love further than I thought possible.
👍🏻👍🏻
I doubt that Chris Harris would ever read this, I loved every video you did on RUclips on Drive and on your own channel and the and the articles you wrote back in the day. I personally didn't mind that you left and went to Top Gear, I genuinely would love if you started up he RUclips thing again if ever Top Gear goes south, but I hope that doesn't happen.
To Jonny Smith, keep it up love all the content so far!
Absolutely brilliant interview. Loved everything about it. The setting, the questions. The obvious camaraderie between the pair of you.
I liked Chris Harris, but have a great newfound respect for him now!
You are the top guy in Top Gear and the show had been nothing without you Chris Harris. You have brought in knowledge, joy and entertainment like no other, ever in Top Gear. Best wishes from a car lover.
I’m a bald man who is 5’7” tall with a love of classic Alfa Romeos.
Chris’ review of the 105 series Alfaholics car was the pinnacle of watching myself drive a car.
I mean, Chris was actually driving it but he transported me behind the wheel of that car and I grinned from ear to ear.
please let him know I value his work and he has had a profound effect on me. I’ll never get to drive that car, I can’t afford it.
But Mr Harris got me as close as I can.
Thanks mate.
Chris comes across as a genuinely interesting and passionate petrolhead - he loves the car for what it is. I really, really enjoyed this and I can't wait for part 2.
Excellent stuff!
This is brilliant - and I'm so glad Chris persevered with Top Gear.
Chris, 1. You know what you're talking about. 2. You are an excellent jockey in a car and most importantly, you're passionate about what you do. Forget abut Top Gear past, you are the Top Gear of the future. Keep up the good work and keep us entertained.
The format for this channel is absolutely top notch. Interesting interviews, car culture that doesn't always get coverage and all done in a way that is engaging to all (unlike some of the super americanised channels) 👍
Yes, car enthusiasm with heart and brain. I also really like the format of this channel. Great content, great presentation and a wonderful down to earth attitude. Thanks Jonny :)
The videos that Chris, Neil and JF did are still some of my favourites. I think only Henry and carfection come close to that level of quality and respect for the subject matter.
I'd love to see Chris and Matt reunited in the future. They had a really great chemistry on set together and that authenticity is something that is quite rare.
Love how humble he is. Its great that Top Gear has come out smelling of roses, enjoy watching the current 3.
Chris Harris’ passion/enthusiasm for cars is so infectious! I personally think he is a great fit for TG, but regardless of what he’s doing, i’ll happily watch him! Awesome bloke!
I remember Chris Harris running an Evo VI RS Sprint as his long termer at Autocar.
It was refreshing to hear a man actually talk openly about needing to talk to someone about the pressures of life too, I wish more men would do this.
I remember that. Still have some of my favorite EVO mags when he used to write for them. Still have one issue of car of the year covered in a rag. Writing was superb, photography was amazing, and it was an event opening that issue. Opening by Harry, articles by Chris. Great stuff.
@@lt1eg6 Much to the annoyance of my Mrs, I too have a lot of old car magazines littering the spare room & loft space.

Agreed, felt to me that it was too good an opportunity and I was excited to see what he could do on a mega budget
I prefered the RUclips content, it appealed to the car nerds instead of being flashy for the general public. But I certainly don't blame Chris for his choice, I'd have done exactly the same.
And for having a limited budget, Neil Carey his cameraman and editor was doing an amazing job with the youtube films.
I thought his RUclips films were brilliant. Top Gear films can be great, but they’re always looking for an angle where it isn’t always needed.

Such a joy to build and so good to see a true car enthusiast enjoying it as designed.
Great build, I remember seeing this for sale and looking at it for weeks. Trying to do the man math in my head to justify buying it, but ultimately bottled it in the end. I ended up buying e34 525i touring and an e46 M3. But looking at this now seems like a bargain considering the price of a genuine one. Chris harris, I call first refusal if you ever put it up for sale!!
Ha! fantastic! did you know Chris Harris had your car or did you just find out?😂
@@quaaludes7898 , Yes , I knew .
He sent two of his race rally technicians to inspect the car and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time road testing her and going through the finer details of the build before doing the deal .
Chris wired the $ into my account , no messing about , and the car went to a new and loving home.
I specialise in the E34 M5 and couldn't have been happier .
Truth be told , I would have given him the car for all of the positive press it has given me .
Proper car for a proper enthusiast.
@@Coj0nes01 thanks for sharing the backstory!
Utterly brilliant interview. Dealing with the negativity must have been harrowing. The way Chris explains the darker time of his career is brave and to be commended. He must have had relentless abuse for no reason than getting a job and supporting his family. He said what we all knew, filling Clarksons shoes its a tough job. At least he looked at it realistically, Top Man ... Chris. Love how you are trying to keep everything private too... Not being a media leech. You have gone way up in my estimation! Smile, and Stay Safe.
I think Chris does a great job on Top Gear. I wasn't a fan like most people when they changed the Clarkson, Hammond and May trio but his genuine love and knowledge of cars has definitely shone through and he's completely won me round. Carries the whole show for me. Well done Chris and long may you continue
Best honest interview I’ve seen in years. Something that’s been lost in the modern RUclips era. Keep up the great work guys
Watching friends stoned on the sofa. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
These are the best 2 motoring journalists we have I believe. Chris Harris has a passion for cars that isn't matched by many, and one of the few would be Johnny. They're brilliant to watch, and listen to. Brilliant video guys, well done
Those Chris Harris on Cars days for RUclips were amazing. Such great films. Patreon may still be taking money from my account automatically every month but even so it’s worth it to see Chris continuing to make the best car videos on the planet.
Shame on the trolls. Chris Harris IS Top Gear. The man knows his stuff!
Exactly he IS top gear. Without him nobody would care tbh
Well no one person is top gear so no
As pretty much everyone else has said, I'm so glad Chris carried on with top Gear, but also that he looked after his mental health. Met him once at the Launch of the Ferrari F12 in Swindon. Lovely chap.
Chris Harris ,for me is one of the five or six best car journalist/commentator/driver that understand deeply about car s and explains to us,petrolhead viewers,in one simple, humble but complete and competent way about every kind of cars and the way we must drive! Stay safe!
Two of my favourite people having a great chat about stuff I love. One of if not the best half hour of tv/media I've seen in a long long while. So much respect for the way Chris goes about things and the fact he is so private in this day and age. His general ethic to cars & mental health really strikes a chord. What a nice bloke. [Doffs virtual hat]
"I would rather drive my own shit car than somebody else's car" - Cuts to BMW wagon. Love it. Really appreciate what Chris was saying around ownership.
Chris Harris has never ruined anything. He's a fantastic journalist and presenter. He never lost me I've followed him since finding him on Pistonheads he is living the life many of us would love to live. Keep it going Chris.
Birds Custard 😁
Here here.
Genuinely one of the most enjoyable things I’ve watched this year. Thank you. Looking forward to part 2 now!!
Two people talking honestly and openly. Awesome.
Beautifully done.
These two together would be an incredible show. 👍
@Viking Raiders Exactly what I was thinking.
It makes me happy to hear that Matt Leblanc and Harris are still friendly and having chats about cars and bikes.
Chris is easily my hero, and seeing his wide variety of cars just makes it that much more awesome.
One of the best things I've seen on here all year, right up there with anything on Harry's garage. Two top blokes having a chat about cars and life. His reaction to the gift at the end, magic. Away to watch pt2 now.
So good to hear two people talking so passionately about what they’re into. Can’t wait for Part 2
Yes. I love this. The crap trailer and chairs are a great way to keep the whole thing grounded, and they fit perfectly with Chris' shed.
I also love that those interviews are (so far) with people that are just as much car perverts as Jonny. Two car journalists who have driven the best supercars praising the 205 speaks volumes.
This is the best car interview ever! So much passion, so much love 👍
Chris, mate. You are the best thing about Top Gear. You are in my top 4 top gear presenters of all time and I think you are doing a bang up job of it!
Guys this video was amazing. The two of you are such genuine, credible characters, and your depth of car knowledge is unsurpassed. Paddy and Freddie are good with Chris on Top Gear, but I think a show with you and Chris would just be thoroughly more enjoyable, interesting, and entertaining. Can't wait for part 2 of this!
Chris Harris is basically one of us. Genuine, real, downtoearth car lover
Extremely refreshing to see and hear someone who has made the most of the social media world sound SO genuine and grounded. Could sit and have a pint with him. Having worked with so many people in this world and as a proper car enthusiast - this is the most refreshing thing I have seen
I’ve been following your work Chris for a long time and had no idea how tumultuous it has been for you. Thanks for everything you do - you truly are one of the greats. Wishing you the best.
