With you all there, not a fan of a lot of comedy, I like the funny real life stories and it seems the surface had just been scratched here. Damn good laugh.
This is probably the best interview of a racing driver I’ve ever seen. He just talked openly and it’s great to see he is so down to earth. I’ve always admired him from when I played TOCA. All this does is cement him as a favourite of mine
One of the warmest, funniest, most interesting interviews of a sportsperson I've ever seen! What a great character and definitely a great of British motorsport. 👍
Some absolutely amazing stories, I loved hearing about the other side of Schumacher, watching him race you only ever got to see him as a ferocious competitor.
Plato is as crazy as a box of frogs. What another absolutely awesome interview. All of our legends are so respectable towards other drivers and it’s great to hear. Plato, Hoy, Menu, Neil, Thompson, all the best of Touring cars. Brilliant interview. Someone should interview you now.
Weird thing to say but these two make me so proud to be English. Just genuine petrol heads. Genuine people. Could listen to both of them all day doing this. Well played Jonny 👏🏻
That was fantastic, haven’t laughed so much in ages. I really miss the Fifth Gear team, was watching a RUclips video of the Jag Estate test the other day. Tiff has it sideways, Jonny and VBH wide eyed with fear and Plato sitting in the back pissing himself laughing. Brilliant.
Managed to meet Jason a few times as a teenager being obsessed with racing at Snetterton, Brands and Donnington. Always happy to speak to people and sign stuff with a smile on his face. 👍
Did not want that to end!! Love Plato, never met him although my nephew met him and Needell in one of the Bars on Broad Street Birmingham, my nephew sent me a text to say as much which I thought was to wind me up and I said yeah whatever then my nephew sent me a pic!! Properly jealous!! Fantastic story's!!
Jason Plato is an absolute legend great driver, great personality and has great story's too but my personal favourite was the Michael Schumacher story Michael Schumacher is my absolute hero on and off the track and hearing the story that Jason mentioned just goes to show that Michael was so much more than just the greatest driver the world will ever see but also a really funny person
hahahaha... he's mental. Love it. Now back in about 2017, I had to make a choice between Plato & Neal. I only had time to get one of them to sign my BTCC ticket at Snetterton. I chose Neal, which was probably a wise choice as I didn't have a spare pair of jeans with me!
I bloody love Plato! I've always loved his race style, flat out, door handle to door handle, bumping his way to championships, just awesome! Loved him on 5th Gear, loved watching him own a biker in a boggo standard 911 round Thruxton on a Jeremy Clarkson dvd. I think his humour is right up there with the best car programme presenters. That Laguna too, by far the best looking touring car ever made! Unlike the junk we have today that look nothing like the road car! This is when touring cars was totally worth watching! Top video! Thanks Late Brake Show 👍🏻
I will never forget meeting this man when I was 13 at the FIA GT Championship 24 hours of Spa in 2005 (He was there for the WTCC racing in the Seat). My Dad and I walked through the paddock and stopped at one of the garages, out walked Jason Plato... He walked towards us, I was in complete awe. If that wasn't enough, as he shook my Dad's hand, he said "What are you doing here, shag?"...... I looked up at my Dad and said "You *know* him?" 😲🤯 I genuinely thought they were friends until a few years later when my Dad told me they had met at Croft a few weeks before 🤣 I got his autograph and had a picture taken with him. Great man, great champion 🏆👍
Love the interview with Jason, top driver and top man. Please do another interview with Jason. Loving your work Johnny. Well done and much appreciated.
I'm sure you already know, but OMG. You can search and search and you won't find an interview anywhere that is as good as that. Even the ladies of my house were glued to it and laughing out loud at the telly box. Absolute tv gold. Thank you Mr Smith for making my week.
This is one of my favourite RUclips videos. There MUST be enough stuff on the editing room floor to give us an extended version of it?! This so deserves to be a two-parter...
Years ago when Schumacher was at Ferrari, I met him walking his dog around Maranello streets and he was the sweetest man I’ve ever met, polite enough to shake hands and wish me a good journey after I delivered 10 drums of F1 fuel to Ferrari test track.
Jonny! I was crying with laughter when Jason was talking about the trouser ripping exploits! Genuinely hilarious, thanks for another great vid! Keep up the good work 👍
WOW! I MEAN WOW! I've got to say JP is my all time Motorsport legend, above all others but that interview has raised him to godlike in my mind! Eye popping revalations about other legends and an honest recount if his early career had me gripped! WELL DONE JOHNNY, AWESOME WORK BUT JP's the man!!
Live Jason he’s always Jason, so down to earth and normal (ish). What a great interview Jonny. Nobody else could’ve got such a natural chat because you two genuinely know and respect each other and that shines through. Awesome !
Fantastic stories. Those Lagunas the yellow and the green one in film just look amazing, like all the touring cars of that era. I could look at it all day a work of art. 😎👍
Always loved JP and his driving. In racing or on the TV he was always fun. This video is the best, great openness. Someone give that man a TV series! He'd certainly make ' I'm a celebrity get me out of here' a humdinger and one I'd be glued to.
Jason writing a car off because he saw his parents at it haha!
Aggressively at it
Brilliant stories
"It was an awkward drive home" - what a story, great interview
Yeah but it was nasty 🤣
What a great interview ....... On the ITV touring cars documentary narrated by Matt Neal says one day there'll be the same room.....
This should have lasted more, so much fun.
It ends so abruptly.
Needs Part 2
.....and part 3,could listen all day, good stuff 👍
With you all there, not a fan of a lot of comedy, I like the funny real life stories and it seems the surface had just been scratched here. Damn good laugh.
Part 4?
Agreed.
I could’ve easily done another hour of this!
Bloody golden this is!
I’m crying with laughter at the Schumacher story, what a great interview, and definitely not long enough!
Same here. Hilarious stuff.
That was some of the most genuinely relaxed & funny motoring chat I've ever seen - bloody brilliant!
Chris Harris is a good chat
The meeting with Frank story I’ve heard ten million times and it’s still golden.
This needs a part 2, 3 and 4!!
This is probably the best interview of a racing driver I’ve ever seen. He just talked openly and it’s great to see he is so down to earth. I’ve always admired him from when I played TOCA. All this does is cement him as a favourite of mine
Toca was my childhood
Why was that not longer. I have not laughed that much for ages. Jonnny and Jason brilliant
Absolutely! Bloody entertaining
seems to be a second part according to my list check the profile
The Schumacher story had me in tears 🤣🤣🤣
One of the warmest, funniest, most interesting interviews of a sportsperson I've ever seen! What a great character and definitely a great of British motorsport. 👍
"Hi, my name's Jonny, I know literally EVERY person of note in the motoring industry."
soo many awesome story's just one after another I could listen to Jason all day long.
This was THE best Plato interview ever !
Best interview ever. A very personal, open discussion.
I felt like i was in the room with them. The stories were amazing.
I love Plato. He's a motoring legend (but a danger to trees) and a nice guy to boot. More of this please Jonny.
Johnny can you get tiff on an interview? I'd love to see you guys chat
Weird thing to say but these two make me so proud to be English. Just genuine petrol heads. Genuine people. Could listen to both of them all day doing this. Well played Jonny 👏🏻
Jonny, Jason best entertainment I have had in ages. Brilliant. Thanks
Brilliant. How engaging is Jason, the stories are amazing.
I had no idea about any of this. All I knew was that he was a host of 5th gear. Very interesting and entertaining. Thank you.
Seriously!! That chat wasn’t long enough!! I was chuckling along at the stories and then you started to wrap it up. More please!!!
Thank you Jason, your a proper legend and a great driver to watch. Could listen to your stories all day long. Thank you
That car was brilliant, I spent hours on TOCA on the PC trying to be Jason Plato. Brilliant interview, please do more of these!
That was genuinely one of the most entertaining things I’ve seen in a long time! Jason Plato should do stand up. Bloody brilliant 😂👏
This one of the best interviews I’ve ever seen
What a great yarn-spinner Jason is! I could listen to stories like these for hours. Brilliant stuff, Jonny & Jason - thank you.
That was utterly superb...! Thanks Jonny and Jason. Both of you lads firmly on my "would buy a pint" list. 😎👍
"My inspiration came from Prost's helmet". Best interview line ever.
This is honestly a part of motor racing history. Thanks Jonny.
Had a bit of a rubbish day today with computers winding me up. This was really helpful
Brilliant.
Mmm VBH....
Tape the dog up? Never change Jonny 😂
Jason Plato!!! More more more. Epic conversation. Brilliant
Brilliant! Just finished the Neal one. Cracking stuff, Jonny!
Bloody brilliant! Super Touring BTCC is easily THE best era of motorsport, JP's an absolute legend of that time! Love it!
Great stuff Johnny. Very funny & interesting. You can clearly see the good relationship you have with Jason 👍
This interview is an absolute ripper. Thanks for posting Jonny.
Hooked on every word, give us more
Managed to meet Jason a few times as a teenager being obsessed with racing at Snetterton, Brands and Donnington. Always happy to speak to people and sign stuff with a smile on his face. 👍

Thanks for sharing
That was absolutely beautiful!! Love the Schumacher stories he was an amazing person.
We need more of Plato, what a great man he is🤩
Thanks Jonny and Jason, that was brilliant ! I was glued to the screen listening to JP !! What a guy !
I bloody love Plato! I've always loved his race style, flat out, door handle to door handle, bumping his way to championships, just awesome! "It was the nasty type of mischief that you don't want to see" 🤣🤣🤣
That's the best interview I've seen of Plato, laughing out loud on bus getting strange looks, only thing was it wasn't long enough. Brilliant.
What a fantastic down to earth and honest bloke Jason is. The interview wasn’t long enough, we need more!
That era of btcc was truly awesome the Laguna's the cavaliers fucking awesome better than the shite they drive now
850 T5 Wagons were beasts!
How refreshing, someone who has done really well in his chosen high profile career who is down to earth and humble.
Thanks very much
Ian
*Jason's a proper old school racing driver, they don't make 'em like that anymore.*
What a great fun bloke to talk to. You do get some interesting car folk in this and it feels so chilled, like a chat down the pub. Most enjoyable.
I will never forget meeting this man when I was 13 at the FIA GT Championship 24 hours of Spa in 2005 (He was there for the WTCC racing in the Seat).

What’s in Jason’s garage now as he never answered that Question.....
Another awesome interview between two icons in the motoring world.
Cracking to see Mikes honesty on all aspects discussed. A hard working genuine guy. Watched him from the start. Top man Mr Brewer.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Love the interview with Jason, top driver and top man. Please do another interview with Jason.
Loving your work Johnny. Well done and much appreciated.
I've heard Plato tell that story about begging Frank Williams for a drive many times and it never gets any less entertaining.
I've watched this so many times and I absolutely love it! Always been a big fan of JP!
What ?? Is that it ??? I need more !!! I’ve just disturbed the hospital ward I’m recuperating in, having laughed that hard !!! Absolute class !!
And those are just the stories he can share on you tube 🤣👍
Oh yeah! I hadn’t thought about that!
Imagine the stuff he can’t talk about in public, I bet there’s loads of rich stuff!!
Jonny............. This is without doubt some of your best work !! This chanel is quickly becoming my go to. Along with Smith and Sniff of course !
