- Опубликовано: 27 июн 2023
- This 2023 ZX4 came in with a FULL exhaust system and I just so happen to have the same bike at the shop there with a slip on. How do the dyno numbers compare after a Moore Mafia ECU flash??

I suspect the Akra headers are a little restrictive since it's designed for the Zx-25r. Would like to see the difference with a full graves or other brand that's made for the zx-4r.
That was my thought too. The header might just be a little bit restrictive for the 400
Came to say exactly that. The results check out as well, if you use slightly narrower mains on the exhaust you gain a bit on the low and midrange. I feel bad for the guy that bought the system, shipping it from Japan was expensive for sure :\
@@Angel-wo8gv Huh? Akropovic exhausts are not from Japan...
@@chadrichards8930 No they're not made in Japan, but he bought it from Japan because they have the Zx-25r there and not in the U.S.
@@alexventrov6826ZX-25R exists in other places too but Japan is probably the easiest to find it at retail. Does the company ship directly to consumers if you called them up to order one?
That’s crazy it’s similar hp to many Harley’s that are around 1800cc
Nothing is more efficient at turning gasoline into heat and noise without all that pesky horsepower like a Harley
its not crazy, its engine speed. if you revd a harley engine to 13k rpm it would make a lot of power (considering it wouldnt blow up 😂)
For one thing, Akrapovic designed that header system to flow for a 250cc engine. Even if the cylinder spacing is the same for the 400, I very much doubt the flow characteristics are optimized for the bigger engine. With the difference in dyno room temp, yes, you'll have a difference in horsepower (the humidity increase also saps a little power). But at this level, I'd say the slip-on Graves is the most cost effective way to go.
That Akrapovic sounds so good.
Thanks for all the info. It's great to see you show what the add ons and tuning does. You can really see the difference. This cuts through all the bs. Great job.
Full system sounds nice but if there is a big price difference the slip-on will do
Glad to see you confirm this. I saw a racer do pretty comprehensive testing back to back on both and found 0.5 to 1hp difference with the Graves vs the Akro full system. You missed the sound clip on the Akro in the comparison section I think though!
This is the most realist honest comparison thanks Chris keep up the great content
I was waiting on that one🚀🚀🚀
Thanks🤝
It sounds freaking amazing.
Heck yea! that thing sounds so much better without the baffle. (Full system)
Great video as always!
Your channel could be about how fast different paints dry and we'd still be captivated. Keep up the great work Chrissy my boy!
nah im here for the bikes, but his personality is cool too
Very fun video.... all way to the end... thanks 😊
Thanks so much for this video. For the price difference and the fact you can get over 70whp on just slip-on, it proves the real limiting factor is the factory tune more than the hardware.
Header tubes are probably too small since it's for the ZX25 plus crossover tubes will hurt peak hp. Not a fair full system comparison
Tst says the headers were meant for zx25r meaning a 400cc engine capacity needed to breath different. So yeah, this full system for zx25 isn't worth it. The bike doesn't breath properly. Graves already make a full system works 2 for the zx4rr. I think that will make more power than this zx25r model system
Exactly what I was thinking. Could've been better just cutting that cat and leaving the stock headers with the Akra tip.
If a slip on with proper size can gain 71 horsepower more than the full system. Then the headers is not compatible with the 4R. I think the diameter is smaller, the 4r needs something a lil bigger for the air to flow properly. There's a video Indonesian guy upgrades his zx25r engine to the 4r. When he used his old 25r exhaust system his horsepower drop significantly his bike ran worst. Can't even keep up with the normal 25r. When he upgraded to larger diameter exhaust the bike does gain huge horsepower that he can dust other 25r
@@neilgaming2127 It did not gain 71 MORE hp than the full system...
@@chadrichards8930 it's not meant for the zx4rr. That system is for the zx25r
Even if it costs more for the full system and the slip on made more power, I’d still spend the extra coin to have that sound. The full system is addicting
More vidoes like this would be really great seeing funk vidoes. This is what I liked the most about this channel Judy watching dyno vids.
Do this again with a real ZX-4RR full exhaust.
Maybe a Graves full exhaust.
The ZX-25R exhaust is hurting it's performance. Like the other guy said the header tubes are probably too small.
absolutely love that bike
I do enjoy your posts dude!
Keep up the good work brother
Very interesting Chris. The full exhaust, headers and all , really isn't worth it unless colder temps make a difference.
Thanks alot buddy.
Wel, a exhaust designed for a 250 on a 400 you mean. Let's wait for a exhaust designed for this engine to cone and see what happens. Just because it bolts straight up, doesn't mean it will be right for the job. I think owner stupidity is definitely a factor here.
Looking by the numbers the Graves Slip-on seems a better fit and bang for the buck in comparison to the full system. As mentioned it could be the back pressure at higher RPM's that works for the Slip-on. So best bet is as this is just a 400 better to go with the slip-ons and save a lot of money for some other mods like lighter wheels, sprockets, upgraded brakes etc and so on. 70+ hp is good enough for street use and with that redline they sound sweet. Cheers! Happy Riding!
Want to the the new Suzuki GSX 8S full system dyno tune next please!!
I like how both sound but once you took that baffle out it made it sound 1000% better.
Akrapovic sounds 9/10, value 4/10.
Graves slip on sounds 7/10 but value 9/10.
I guess if you're buying this you probably have some spare cash so the full system probably still worth it to an extent, but if you aren't that fussed the slip on is absolutely stunning value and still sounds excellent (imo).
Just goes to show, that the bike makers have gotten really good at header design. It's all the shit that comes after the headers, that clog things up... Removing that with a decat and a slip-on, is often just as good as a full system, on a lot of bikes...
the akra w/o the baffle sounds awsome you need to do dyno when it's cooler in the am then see what happens ,conventional wisdom is you make more hp in cooler air than hot........
cant wait till you tune mine
I like the sound of which ever one is cheaper!
Hey chris, that's a great video for comparing between 2kind of full system exhaust and ¾ grave exhaust. But i had a thought that the factor the akra got lil bit less hp due to the zx25 akra exhaust itself. With that much different cc(150cc) will be affected to the diameter of the header. If there any manufacturer has made the specific exhaust for the zx4, i think it will produce more hp than what you have now. BTW love to see your works, keep it up 🔥
Also, Akrapovic exhausts (full) are bike specific. The 400rr is nearly double the displacement so of course it ain't gonna work as well as something engineered to match the volume of gasses from a 250.
Love you
I like the slip on 🎉
I think graves got it right and the price can’t go wrong with it with just the slip on 🎉
Slip on graves
Air filter
Ecu flash
Can’t wait to do mine
@9:30 THAT SWEET, SWEET MUSIC OF 16K+ RPM
Biggest benefit of a full exhaust is weight reduction. Marginal hp differences between the two. Great video.
Would love to see these bikes drag 400m. Come on Chris vs your brother. I am sure your customers won't mind. Let's do this 🏁 🏍 💪
Full system!
The graves slip-on sure does sound good considering the cat and original headers are still in place.
Nice
WOW...the sound without the baffle...pure Kawasaki growl!!
The marginal difference is just that, marginal, and if you can swing it, the full system is the bomb.
Why put a restrictive that is not designed for that engine on, just for sound? That's stuoid af. Be patient and wait for the proper parts to come out.
@@MercilessGuitar151 My comment was referencing the sound quality between the 2 options shown in the video.
Ergo, since that flew over your head, your non contextual reply, according to your standards, is '..stuoid af', obviously. Be patient and wait until you actually understand a comment before your reply to a comment. Peace bro...
Going to race it? Full Akra's for the weight savings. Street/track day only, Graves Slip-on for the win! Great video!!
24 zx6r is a must see
I have a 2015 zx10r. Cat delete with a mid pipe and a two brothers slip on.
k&n airfilter flashed and tuned. There is a definite, instantly noticeable difference with the DB killer installed. It loses power for sure. I took that thing out and threw it away.
Without the baffle👌🏿🤤
That thing sounds awesome for a 400.
10:05 try a combo of Graves slip on with Akra full system pipes....
Night and day sound without the DB killer!
I’ll be making a trip soon from NC 🦾
WNC is where that one lives.
Not gonna lie that little 400 sounds awesome. Im sure the zx25 headers is whats killing the max power. That akro with no baffle and a header made for it the zx4rr would probably make the same amount of power as the other bike.
That’s sounds amazing for a 400
I like the graves for the sound and the money.
Crazy up there 89 degrees is hot. In houston its 80 degrees at night and 100 during the day currently smh
I noticed the acro header has dual crossover pipes between the primary runners on the header. Does the stock header have the crossovers in its design? That would account for the difference in the peak power produced by the stock header.
I'll go slip on . Thanks for saving me the dough.
Did you do the final pull in 4th on the full exhaust?
Essentially the same. However, variables between bikes can make a big difference. Tire pressure, cleanliness of chain, break-in procedure. Are the ZX25r Akra primary pipes as wide or wider than the stock ZX4r primaries? Big muffler but with cat vs smaller muffler but w/o cat. I think it's safe to say these two bikes.......not sure they can be compared.
Graves has that buzz 😪, Akro has the depth i like! 💪🏁 great job explaining everything important Mr.Moore 💪
I'm not too surprised about this. With such a small engine it probably wasn't hard for Kawasaki to make a stock exhaust that already wasn't restrictive.
Id love to get a bike like this. Sucks they dont make 4cyl bikes under 600cc anymore, at least sold here in the US. Sounds awesome tho, glad people are getting some extra performance out of them too.
This one is a 4 cylinder
🤣 the zx4r IS a 4cyl bike
Dude.
Think before post.
This is a 4 cylinder 400cc bike you can buy in america.
You dont get the full bore version tho
My cousin might get a ZX4 ❤ I shared this video with him
Don’t lie
What exhaust hanger is that on the dyno bike?
I like the stock sound. same HP and torque.
I had my triumph 1050 sport tuned last week with decat exhaust and sc project end can baffle in. they only got 107bhp wheel, where stock is 146bhp crank. they said it was headers and end can, restricting it?
I have a full TI Graves and sprint filter on my ZX4rr that I got a couple of weeks ago.
Desert has been too hot , lately to do a run for top speed. Stock speed was 122 Mph.
Will post top speed run when the desert cools off or I find another low altitude road.
What is the price for a ZX4rr
$10k ballpark.
Shit my gsxr400 would pull 120 back in 1985...
But it was 60hp native
Even the restricted version top speed is around 130mph how yours only 122?
what difference did the DNA filter make after install, if any?
Is it better to tune a bike in cold weather or warm weather
There's a massive difference in size between a 250 and 400 - the same percentage difference as a 1000 v 1600 cc. The bigger engine needs larger diameter headers etc the 250 exhaust will be restrictive on the 400.
lol 150 cc difference aint shit
@M16xDr0pSh0tz did you learn percentages in elementary school?
@@M16xDr0pSh0tz you talking cos you got a tongue !GATE13SW6CREW c.f.c
@@M16xDr0pSh0tzlol.
Its a 3rd larger twit.
Please do a video on a full exhaust system designed specifically for the ZX-4R.
I'd like to see the test when it get cooler weather
What's up with the street turbo busa?
Seems like the only upside to the full exhaust is the weight loss as opposed to the slip on. However minuscule that may be.
Those 4r's sound good for what they are. Definitely would go slip on route and put the $$$ saved from full system into other tasteful mods.
what fender eliminator does the bike have?
The Graves sounds good but that Akrapovic straight screams
Tbh, the savings might be in the weight. How much does the stock header and cat weigh vs the full system? HP doesn't have to come from the engine all the time but also the weight...
tryna see a build with an upgraded chain & sprocket.
Wonder if that muffler on the factory headers are cat delete would have been the best option
This exact testing is in the works 😊
I like the deeper softer tone of the graves s/o,
i like akra’s but it didnt sound as good to my 47yr old ears.
Please tell me its the guys bike watching through the window lmao
FOR THE STREET a slip on and tune is good enough FOR TRACK lets go the whole hog for that sound :) HEY GREAT VIDEO WELL EXPLAINED it answers the questions us gear heads wanna know!!
I saw in both videos, that you did the final dyno run in 4th gear...... Why was that?
Chris, are the motors in these 400s legit kawi motors not chinese ?
Full exhaust definitely sounds better in my personal opinion
Are they restricted in uk ??
On other channels people are reaching 73-74 HP with the 250 exhaust.
Man that little screaming bumble bee sounds REALLY good with the Ackropvic.
Tengo una zx4rr 🎉, quiero hacerle eso a mi moto , conoce algun lugar en chicago I'll
Both sound good, but the graves sounds a little better.
Seems like it's suffocating itself at about 14k rpm you can hear a volume difference. As other have said I would think the pipes are too small on the zx25 system. (that or maybe the valves are floating 🤷)
Its not moving.
Theyre designed to run with ram air
It might not be that big of a performer, but damn that bike is sexy as F
Tube diameters not optimized for the 400. My ZXR400sp from the 90's made more Hp and weighed a lot less. It was about 325 lbs with a stock tank. Put ZX6r wheels and the ZX6r forks and brakes on it and it was lighter yet. Mid 2000 ZX6r forks slid right into the stock triples. Forks weren't much better than stock but the brakes were a lot better.
You can hear the restrictivness on the full system
while increasing the power, how do you keep track of the engine stress? I love to have more power but what about the longevity?
On a high revving na motor it's not exactly under a lot more stress. The non North American markets make similar power to his flash tune since they're not restricted. Without changing the redline or trying to push too much timing, you're not gonna do anything to these motors they wouldn't see at the restricted power figure under the same driving loads and rpm ranges.
About right …70-72 hp full exhaust, air filter and tune some have even used race oil and gained 1-2 hp more
I liked the camera in front to see how fast it is, yoaza screaming demon
7:42 Savage....
what happened to the 77hp claimed ?????
Chris did Kountry say he wanted to race you on the ZX4 & him on his Gixxer1000 ?
😂
The problem is for the price of the bike + the tune is past 600 and 750s territory, just get a 1000cc bike. This would be a great 9k$ bike.
Going by the figures the full exhaust system is not worth the money, did you say the full system was for a 250?
