For the Ioniq 5, the route planner does have charging stops. Estimated arrival and suggested amount to charge up to. There is also a way to filter the charging stations by speed and company.
@@LarryHow That's possible. Another possibility is that the car doesn't have Bluelink activated yet, which is needed for route planning. It's included with the car but only gets activated after you purchase it.
1:13 The inverter. Converts the DC flow from the battery into AC which the motor uses to roll. Hey, if it's all there in the front, it's not taking up space in the cabin.
I bought the 2025 RS Equinox two weeks ago. I agree with what you folks said about the difference between the Hyundai and Chevy. I obviously like the Equinox because I bought it outright.
The 2025 Ioniq 5 has the tech upgrades you are looking for. That’s coming later this year, I believe. They need to move these dated cars off the lots. As an Ioniq 5N owner, I’m pleased by the black bezel, wireless Apple CarPlay, usb-c and a million things that are coming to the other models.
Ah that makes sense. I thought I saw the N had some of these improvements but didn’t realize they were rolling it out that way. I’d also seen the EV9 has some better software as well and assumed it would make its way into the rest of the Kia/Hyundai lineup in the future.
44:00 Like RJ Scaringe says, we need all different choices in EVs. The important thing is to get the car that you (as a driver) want as your daily driver.
Absolutely! I’m glad that there are so many choices now. When we got the Tesla 6 years ago, it was basically just that and the eGolf and Leaf. It’s hard to go wrong with all the great options now.
Here in SoCal, we are getting 2024 I5s ultimate for the same price as a 2024 Equinox 2RS. Hyundai is giving 14K discount (but no Federal Tax rebate). Lease on the I5 is very close to Equinox with that rebate
Enjoyed the video. Reminded me of when I've been vehicle shopping. Good luck with things! In the end, your choices and things that are important that work for you :-) (On the Vinfast, while just different and interesting, I think it would "need" a dealer nearby you to make it even a viable option. I hope they keep working to improve.)
Absolutely. On further thinking about it, while it would be interesting, I’m not willing to deal with a 3 hour drive in traffic anytime there is an issue or I need sales / service help

The Hyundai does full EV NAV routing planning and charger locations sorted by type with the OEM NAV. It also will precondition in cold weather when using the nav to plan charging.
Another great video. Found your content and I enjoy every video you put out. Sucks about your Tesla. Amazing that you are taking it in stride. Why does it look like that? “Because that’s the way we’ve always done it.”
3:00 Understood about how auto salespersons talk to one person of a couple instead of the person that said "I'm buying the car". Exhausting! And correct, then that dealer will not get the business until they address the person buying the car.
44:00 My thoughts are thumbs Up for Ariya (luxourious), Lyriq and Equinox. Thumbs down on ID4 (yes, old tech and high price), thumbs down for VinFast because service is so far away and thumbs down for Ioniq 5 (old tech and high price). I've only seen two ID4s here in Winston-Salem, North Carolina but they are hard to spot. Again, but to each their own.
Good call outs. I need to check out the Arya again for sure. I love the Lyriq too but at even just a bit more in overall price, it’s probably not worth it for our use cases on the second car right now.
@@Eventurefamily Agreed, the Lyriq and Ariya is more expensive and luxury. It's fun to watch y'all car shop. Our car shopping for the Ioniq 6 was funny also. My husband kept wanting me to get the RWD but I got the the AWD.
My youngest stepson's (born 1980) first car was a used Chevy Cavalier. I was impressed with that little Cavalier. His second car was a Chevy Cruze and he likes it. I like my 2014 Impala. We have an R1T, Ioniq 6 and Impala.
I just leased an I5 (coming from an EV6) and am very happy, but when driving the Equinox EV I was disturbed by major torque steer due to the front wheel drive bias. Perhaps just that particular car? I liked the integration of the infotainment screen placement, but found the layout and choices extremely "busy". Also the car was a bit noiser than the I5, but a worthy choice all-in-all
Yeah the Ioniq has much better NVH than the Equinox. The dual panes windows everywhere were a nice surprise. It’s better than the Model Y for sure too. I didn’t notice any torque steering and I pedaled it a few times in both normal and sport mode. I’ll definitely look for it in our final test of it before getting one.
Anything that’s been on sale for 3+ years will have lots of lease trade ins on the market. We picked up a used id4 for just over $30k. The VW tech isn’t cutting edge but with Apple CarPlay I never use the factory navigation or infotainment. Others in the same category would be the Volvo XC40 recharge. Wasn’t quite big enough for our needs but they seem like very nice cars for the money.
12:00 I think you can do phone as a key with Ioniq 5 but cumbersome because you have to put your phone is a particular place in the car? I don't. I am used to carrying a fob for my ICE Chevy Impala. Yes, I still cheat and drive my Impala through West Virginia 4Xs a year plus it's the dog car. Sigh.
Too bad Volvo EX30 got delayed because of the China tariffs stuff you could have tried that car to see if did that one was an option. Also, Honda Prologue is based on that GM Blazer platform, but hey I'll be checking to see how well that Equinox works out for your family.
Around here at least, I haven’t found any lease offers on the MachE even close to these two (I did look as I like the MachE). In general it’s around 100-200 / mo more
6:00 Agreed, Legacy EVs are clunky. My Hyundai is clunky (no frunk hardly but it does have a heat pump). I can proximity unlock but not lock my Ioniq. I always have to have the key fob. RJ Scaringe of Rivian syas that Legacy uses 80 electronic control units to automatically unlock doors whereas Rivian uses 7 electronic control units to do the same function. Hence, clunky Legacy EVs. That said, I LOVE Jiselle my Ioniq 6.
It’s hard to go back to two pedal drive after having it in all our cars for a while now. It’s not a need, but a nice perk. I’m of the opinion that it should at least be an option in every EV
It’s not good. They could have easily put a small frunk there without changing the configuration, or could have created a usable one by shifting things around a little.

Looks like the dealer didn't update the software.

Rest assured, it presents the door handles and it “self locks” when you walk away. Both are in the settings
Awesome. I figured. It would have also helped if our salesperson knew the car at all.

It's a damn shame how GM and others don't know much about EV cars. When I bought my EV9 the sales guy told me it came with free Oil changes.
Love my Equinox. Chevys have always been good to me.
Congratulations on your Equinox.
You can use the paddles to change region levels and enable 1 pedal driving

Don't forget Ioniq 5 has a V2L. Some people used V2L to power their homes during power outage not to mention it comes handy when u go camping.
It's a nice feature for sure. I know GM has an offering with the larger Ultium EVs, but unfortunately nothing yet on the Equinox
You can use voice command for nav. No need to to type just say the address or name of the business.
If you're buying an ioniq 5 order the new 2025 model, literally everything is improved and upgraded
I don’t believe they are out yet, at least not on dealer lots here yet. I’m excited to see the improvements though!
Why why why would I need a frunk? It’s a freaking “station wagon”.
Any EV that doesn't have a frunk is an indication of poor design and lazy engineering

It’s definitely a downside. They could have pretty easily done it too
