The ID.BUZZ European family road trip test - French Alps Adventure Part 1
For Christmas we took the family to Switzerland and France to ski for a week in Courchevel and the 3 Valees. With two huge ski bags, 3 suitcases, a stroller, and 5 people, we needed something that could transport us all safely and sustainably without problems, so the VW ID.Buzz was a no-brainer, or so we thought. With a challenging drive up to nearly 2000 meters (~6000 ft) of elevation and through the biggest snow storm of the year, we put the Buzz which is about to come to the US, through it's paces and found out whether it can actually work as a family road tripper.

We've had our Riviain R1S for a year now and already driven over 15,000 miles on roadtrips, commuting, and activities with the kids, many of which have been shared here on the channel. I wanted to share how we feel about it after a year from the things we love, the things annoying us, how it's held up, and our service experiences in owning this awesome vehicle. Of course we were also on our way...
Time to ditch the Tesla for a Chevy Equinox EV Lease! Why you shouldn't wait
Просмотров 2,2 тыс.21 день назад
With 2025 ticking down and potentially EV tax incentives with it, now is almost certainly the perfect time to lease if you've been on the fence. Especially if you're coming from a Tesla for any reason, there's no better time to look at leasing an Equinox EV, one of the most affordably EVs in the market and things may not be this good for a while. I compare the Equinox with the Model Y and what ...
No Need For Rivian R1S DC Fast Charging! 500 miles on L2 Charging Family Road Trip

We're off to Hershey, PA for a Hockey Tournament in our Rivian R1S over the Thanksgiving weekend. We packed in a ton including the tournament, Hershey Park, Christmas Lights, and managed it all without stopping to DC Fast Charge at all thanks to well positioned L2 public charging. It shows how important AC charging infrastructure can be and that maybe we should focus on it instead of stressing ...

This is the Tesla CyberCab, the promised self-driving autonomous vehicle that supposedly we'll get in 2026 for under $30,000. We've had our Rivian R1S for almost a year now and it continues to get great software updates that add new features. Chevy Equinox EV vs Hyundai Ioniq 5 Test Drive Day - Battle of the electric family non-Tesla SUVs
Beautiful IDBuzz.
If you visit Europe often it’s worth getting a ChargeMap or similar card. There are various charging apps that are locked on app store. Sometimes making charging a little wonky.
Will never buy or lease a Tesla. Love my Blazer EV RS RWD with the 102 kWh battery.
Great review, thank you!
There is no front-wheel drive only buzz. The standard versions all have RWD - in Europe, the only exception is the GTX model, which is just now entering the market (the first ones have been delivered to regular people a couple weeks ago…)
I am definitely a VW fan (owned 2 beetles in the past) but as much as I love the look and concept of the ID Buzz, but with just over 200 miles of range (out of spec did a 70mph range test and got 215 miles if I remember correctly), $70k+ price tag, in the US dealerships are charging $5k-25k markups, not so great software, AND no Tesla charging access (who knows if/when VW will get access) etc, as of right now the iD Buzz would be a hard NO for me. So cool that you guys got to rent it and take it for an extended test drive so to speak. Great video!
Did you try paying by contactless? May have been better than using the app.
Very informative thank you. I bought my BMW ix after seeing your review!
We got a 25 LT in black just before Xmas. 500 miles so far and everything is awesome…it’s a really nice vehicle…!!!
We got the update b4 Christmas 🎄
The power grip falls they all fall 😂
Tesla seemed so far advanced twelve years ago, but now they seem so far behind. GM hasn’t been building EV’s for long but appears to be way ahead, especially on style.
Lease or buy?
Learned a lot from this video. Thank you.
The problem is legacy automakers trying to copy Tesla and Rivian tech and their base of traditional drivers (me) isn’t really interested in it. I have a Bolt EUV and it’s great so I was closely following the Equinox. Aside from more space and faster charging, the Equinox felt like a step backward with frustrating tech I did not want or ask for. Losing CarPlay adds complexity and frustration that just didn’t need to be there. A family your size would need go to Equinox, but we are small so I’m staying with the Bolt.
Listening to you two whine is much more annoying than the features you are complaining about.
Agree on driver+. We really need to make sure we nudge Rivian on this. The capability for more is there on Gen 1. It's just the time investment.
Nice update ! The R1S is my fav EV, and if there were a closer service center, I would have no hesitation purchasing one.
I’ve had a different experience with the driver+. I’ve actually found it to be way more reliable than supercruise, and it isn’t constantly watching my eyes to make sure I’m paying attention. I can just have my hand resting on the wheel of my Gen 2 R1T, and it never shuts off. Supercruise on my Lyriq usually gives me an “unavailable” error every 10-15 minutes or so (at least).
Interesting. To me, Supercruise has been more reliable and shuts off less around here, so maybe it's down to location specifics with different roads. Both systems still cut off way more than I'd like, especially with construction or if I'm in the right lane, but Supercruise has generally been less flaky than Driver+
@ mine is a gen 2, which has the better cameras as well, which I think helps its performance
Terrific! Great EV Chevy Equinox!
It really has been a great addition to our family!
Interesting. I see you were driving in conserve mode at about 15k miles. I was wondering how the tires were holding up. I am at 10k and just starting to notice the tread wear. No tire rotations? Significant tread wear?
I generally only use it on longer trips where I need to stretch for range, so over the 15k miles, probably only a couple thousand have been on conserve mode. I haven't observed any significant wear on the front tires over the rear and we haven't done any rotations yet. I expect we probably will around 20-25k based on what others report, but for some reason, we tend to have longer tire life than average. Our Buick Enclave the R1S replaced went 60k miles on the original tires and no rotations and they told us they were still fine at the last appointment.
Based on RivianTrackr, the update coming within the next week should include Chromecast and RUclips, as well as some holiday fun!
Yes and I'm super excited for it! It seems like a great update with almost all of the features I've been asking for including Sirius, so I can't wait. I'll definitely share an update on it once we get it.
36:00 Oh Deer
😂
27:00 My Ioniq 6 twin. Your children are learning all about EVs. Nice enthusiasm about shredding the slopes there.
Even Arlo can point out Rivians, Teslas, and iXes, so I must be doing something right. Though he thinks any car with the Chevy bow tie badge is an Equinox.
I like your Chrome delete. Looks great! I like the blacked-out options and matte colors for Gen2.
Definitely! I know chrome is supposed to designate luxury, but I've never loved it. The black looks so much better to me.
Stadium headlights. Looks smiley.
Regarding the seat vibrate alert feature being over sensitive, Are you saying it vibrates to alert you to oncoming traffic when you are waiting to make a left turn at a busy intersection? That would drive me crazy.
To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what it's vibrating for as it does it often. It definitely does it for rear cross traffic alerts when backing up, blind spot warning when merging, but then it also buzzes me sometimes when I'm turning right and sitting stopped at a red light. I can't tell if it's overly sensitive or if it's warning me about traffic coming. It's infrequent enough that it doesn't drive me crazy, but enough that I wish they would improve it.
You really didn't prove to me anything about the Equinox. How many miles can you go on one charge??? Does the Equinox battery meet their advertised value far as estimated miles you can go on one charge?? All those other numbers don't mean anything to me or are too confusing to understand.
My 2025 Equinox RS is my first EV. I traded my ICE vehicle for it. I had a level 2 charger installed in my garage and my service panel upgraded. I guess you could say I jumped in with both feet. There's no turning back now.
That's awesome! I think a lot of people will have a similar experience and the Equinox EV will be their jumping in point as well. It hits so many important notes right. Welcome to the family and I hope it brings you many miles and years of great adventures and keeps you in the EV world.
So having this for 1 year , what are your thoughts? we are considering the 2025 R1S Tri with 22 brights. Thanks!
Stay tuned, I'll have a full video on that exact question coming soon! Overall though, still love it and it's holding up extremely well with over 15k miles on it.
@@Eventurefamily Ok great thanks. If you can address the audio that would be great. We have heard nightmares...I'm a sucker for a real solid audio system...especially for 100k lol
@ I won’t be able to speak for the new Gen2 audio, and I’ve heard it’s pretty bad though been improving with software updates. If it’s a dealbreaker for you, I’d recommend test driving it for sure. Our Gen 1 sounds great to me, but I’ve heard Gen 2 is still not close to it.
I bought the 2025 RS Equinox two weeks ago. I agree with what you folks said about the difference between the Hyundai and Chevy. I obviously like the Equinox because I bought it outright.
That's awesome! It's great to hear it all came together and you're really happy with it.
Arlo skiing ⛷️
He's a beast! He was so excited to tell his brothers he is better than them :-)
Arlo for President……………………..in about thirty something years.
He’s already acting like the mayor of town. He talks to absolutely everyone and is so interested in everything everyone is doing. He’s awesome and I have no clue where it comes from because we’re both pretty introverted!
I appreciate your steps in the calculations process. It supports how you arrived at the results. We have a 2022 Bolt EUV and the battery performance has gotten better since we purchased it. We get 230 miles on an 80% charge. This car advertised a 247 mile range on a full 100% charge. We are thinking of maybe getting an Equinox AWD.
Thanks a ton! Having it longer now, there are some curious things about the capacity and efficiency on longer drives but I don’t feel like I’ve truly experienced it yet because we haven’t done a major road trip. I’ll definitely share what I find in the future with some bigger trips planned soon. I absolutely love the car though still even if it’s not the best road tripper.
it s actually really different to see that tesla only allows teslas in their charing network. in europe all the car's can use supercharger network
I think we’re moving more toward that model now, but it feels like we’re still quite far behind the state of charging I’ve experienced in Europe. We’ll be road-tripping through the Swiss and French Alps in just over a week with an ID.Buzz soon I feel like we’ll really get a feel for the state of charging there soon. More and more Tesla charging is opening up here for other EVs but it’s a slow transition.
Thanks for the video! I can't wait to buy the R2 when it comes out! :D
You and me both!
"Dad, we have to find Rudolf."
And we somehow did!
I have a $20 credit at Blink. At least I'm voting with my dollars albeit unwillingly. All I did was enter my credit card info so I'd save time at a stop and they took $20 bucks as credit. Shell Recharge takes $10 bucks but gives more warnings prior to. For some reason, North Carolina has lots of Shell Recharge 50kwh-150kwh for about 2.5 years now. Go figure.
Yeah and I cannot seem to manage to get it back from Blink either. At least Flo does the same but gives an option to return your balance to you. I contacted Blink support but nothing. Not a fan!
Great Video. Good Conclusion. Nice lights at the end.
Hershey Park is on my bucket list. And I'm from Philly.🤣🤣🤣Yes, been to Lancaster/Gettysburg (Amish Country) many times. Beautiful!!
You’ve never been??? It’s a great park with some really nice coasters. We’ll definitely be back soon now that the kids are getting big enough to ride them.
Nice Christmas lights. We take our grandkids to High Point University Christmas Lights Drive in North Carolina. Free, Fun and local.
4:00 I've seen a Rivian decorated with Christmas lights last Christmas here in Winston-Salem, North Carolina (and not many Rivians here at all).
I know it's not right, but I get annoyed seeing Tesla's at level 2's. They have Superchargers everywhere. I know it's lower cost and it's absolutely their right, but those spots are often so needed by non-Teslas.
We have Connect+, Apple Music and Spotify in the R1T (no ads-you know those prices). All work well. Try doing a soft reboot maybe? I have Android Auto (haven't used much yet) and XM radio ($6 buck a month for 15 months) in the Ioniq6. On XM, I listen to Watercolors (smooth jazz) a little Symphony and a little Road Trip radio but I'm alone in the car.
You are actually right, a soft reset seems to have helped now and Apple Music is back to working well. I think I need to get in the habit of resetting more often, at least after big updates. My favorites on Sirius are PopRocks and Alt Nation though lately we’ve been all about the Holiday Music on Holly.
Having Connet+ is worth it to use Apple Music. My Meridian sound system sounds so good. Also my daughter uses the wifi hotspot all the time.
Agreed on rugged with established brand partnerships instead of plush. Merchandising, merchandising!
What floor is that on?
Quick correction actually, looks like the pantograph is actually attached to the tower and extends down towards the bus when it’s there. We have a similar system now in Vancouver (although so far only 1 route uses it).
60% of smartphone users in America own an iPhone... Take off those sunglasses and get with reality.
2025 is a refresh for Ioniq 5. A bunch of good improvements.
