I saw this for the first time in 2015 when I was making a "comeback" of my own in competitive bodybuilding at 45 years of age- this film inspired me and had me in tears when Rocky tells himself to keep moving forward and get up during the final round.
A reaction of PERFECTION. I don't think there's any other franchise out there that can make people feel the way we do. I also don't know another franchise that delivers so much quality throughout. Bravo, guys!
The speech! "This world is a mean and nasty place. No one hits harder than life. It'll bring you to your knees...". Love the speech. Best monologue out of all the movies. One of the best ever in any film.
Sly loves this speech so much he had his 3 daughters memorize it. Sly wrote this Rocky when he thought he was done w/Hollywood. Nobody was making any offers for awhile-he says this movie is what made people start thinking of him again
Being the last of the "Rocky" series, I like the way they did the ending shot, with Rocky waving and fading into history. Yes, I know that Rocky was there is the following "Creed" series, but in Rocky Balboa, he fades as a boxer.
@@BossMovieReactions Also in 2021 Stallone made a director's cut of Rocky IV called " Rocky IV: Rocky vs Drago, The Ultimate Director's Cut" which can be streamed on Amazon prime. Stallone wasn't satisfied with Rocky IV and wanted to make a more serious version of the movie, this movie focuses more on friendship between Rocky and Apollo. Stallone edits the fight scenes so they're slightly more realistic, more exciting in my opinion. Drago is a little bit more human in the director's cut, and Stallone cuts out all the scenes with the robot, and all the scenes that he thought was corny. Stallone replaces all the scenes with 45 minutes of footage heated news in the original theatrical 1985 cut. I think the director's cut is significantly different than the original version and significantly better and a more serious movie that fits in with the rest of the series. And he's able to make it look more like a modern movie from the 2000s. I would love to see your reaction to the director's cut of Rocky IV, after you react to Creed II, but even if you don't react to I highly recommend you watch it on your own. Below is the trailer of the director's cut ruclips.net/video/4qjV0bB2V0Q/видео.htmlsi=GunubGmKAsLdvHnW
This whole film is a cry fest, but I really love watching all the people during the credits climb the steps paying tribute to the positively incredible inspiration Rocky has instilled in all of us. I knew you'd be the only reactors that actually let the credits play out. 🥂💫
the last scene where he says goodbye to the crowd wasnt part of the script, it just happen whlist they were filming, my fav scene of all the rocky movies
In case you don’t know, this isn’t Sylvester’s real son in the movie. Sage, the guy that played his son in the 5th movie, had other obligations and couldn’t do the movie. He died in real life about a decade ago.
The filming of the fight was done after an actual boxing match and used the TV cameras of the arena. The crowd was a real crowd, not actors or extras. The same announcers from TV as well. There was an alternate ending filmed where Rocky wins to confuse the crowd
It didn't take long for this to become my favorite film in the "core" Rocky series. The heart is why. The inspiration, and the fact that it's a "life" story with a lot of great lessons. Over thirty plus years, it feels like a cinematic journey of a lifetime.
Rocky 5 came out when i was 5 years old. Balboa came out when i was 20. As someone that grew up absolutely loving the first five of course i was there opening night for this one and let me tell you, it was the first movie i've ever been to where the audience was cheering just as much as the crowds in the movie. Nor was there a dry eye in the house by the end. A truly amazing experience.
His fading out in the distance at the end makes me cry. Some of us have lived our lives with Rocky as a backdrop. Everything ends. Almost 50 years this saga went.
Fun fact: The fight at the end was shot before an actual boxing match, meaning that the people in the audience weren't extras. As soon as the arena was full, the fans in attendance were told a Rocky scene being filmed before that evening scheduled fight.
There will never be a movie like the Rocky series again. All episodes are amazing... You should also watch the movie Rambo First Blood, it is very effective, there is a soldier's drama rather than a war.
I remember when me and my friends decided to see this in the theater we were worried at first because of Rocky 5 but man everybody in the audience including us loved it.
Stallone mostly did action dramas and action sci-fi/comedies after Rocky 1-5. Some of them are really fun (Tango & Cash, Cliffhanger, Demolition Man), and some are entertaining enough fare (Lock Up, Daylight, even Judge Dredd for the set design and costumes). A deeper cut of his is Copland (1997), definitely recommended.
Tango/Cash is the best non Rocky movie. Cliffhanger would be 2nd. U should definitely watch them. I think Sly directed Cliffhanger (or helped) the effects/scenery is amazing. He’s actually very high up sometimes harnessed sometimes not.
@@curtismartin2866 I’ve heard that and I hope it gets done. I heard Sly say he most likely won’t be climbing he’ll leave it for the younger guys I forgot to add the Expendables is also a good set of movies (I haven’t seen 4 yet) you’ll have fun naming all the action co-stars and guest shots. 1 is the one where Sly was injured badly
Have loved watching along with you guys. Rocky is my favorite fictional character of all time, and favorite franchise of all time. Please please please continue the journey with Creed, you will not be disappointed.
Rocky Balboa is BEST of the whole series!!! My brother and I went to see this in the theater kinda making fun it's been 16 years. Plus Stallone doing direct to video Eye See You and Avenging Angelo... Within 3 minutes we were dialed in, in shock at the writing and crying at the depth and emotion. Stallones career was done before this movie.. Driven, Get Carter Plus those 2 direct to video movies....Rocky Balboa gave him yet another comeback, another career like the original Rocky did. This movie was more important in his career than the original because he was a has-been joke at 59. Rocky Balboa should have been nominated for an Oscar.
If you guys like Sylvester Stallone then you should check out First Blood. First Blood is actually the first of the Rambo movies but the title of the movie is First Blood. I think that you would really like it. Stallone plays the character of a former special forces soldier named John Rambo. This character isn't anything like Rocky but Stallone does such a good job that you will be convinced that he is John Rambo just as you are convinced that he is Rocky.
This movie is so good. It's a perfect bookend to the Rocky saga. I love they incorporated Adrian into the movie so much. Gone but definitely not forgotten.
My heart ached watching this movie knowing that Adrian was gone. You could see how much pain Rocky was in and how he tried to still be himself even when he wanted to fall apart sometimes.
I've watched multiple reaction videos to the ROCKY movies recently and I have to say, this was definitely one of my favorites of them. You two are a great team! I've subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching more of your videos very soon. 🙂
On the Blu-ray of this. In the deleted scenes. There was a great extended scene with Rocky & Pauly talking in the alleyway. Burt Young should have been nominated for award. In that scene he really breaks down. Saying how sad he is for being such a jerk to Adrian, Rocky and everyone is whole life. It really made you feel sad for him and he kind of redeems himself knowing he was always kind of a A-hole to everyone. R.I.P. Burt Young
Rocky is a film franchise about believing in yourself, pushing forward through hard times, and obviously it's a love story. Oh, it also has boxing. I loved watching Adrian blossom from a shy, brow-beaten shell of a human being, into a beautiful woman who was strong enough to help a champion find himself again. This movie was a perfect ending to the franchise. It was never about winning a fight or a title. It's about going after what you want and going the distance.
A lot of people miss the guy doing dishes for his meal is the guy Rocky fought first in the first Rocky film- Spider Rico. Also, everyone remembers the epic speech from Rocky about how it about how hard ya hit. But the one from Mason's coach Martin also gets me right in the feels every time, and it's a damn good piece of advice.
The Rocky franchise is not over. Next is the trilogy "Creed". I know you will enjoy this as well. Love the channel. My introduction is Rocky reaction video. And now I'm hooked.
After watching this movie, several times, I have come to realize the fact that Rocky wants to do for other people the way that he wanted somebody to do for him. In the original Rocky, it took Mik 10 years to come by and make sure Rocky was OK, and tried to do something for him. I think Rocky feels that he wants to do things for people right now in the moment, and not 10 years down the road.
When Steps named the dog 'Punchy' it was an insult. It's a term meaning a punch drunk old fighter, a disrespectful term. Sly did a good job on this film.
You absolutely must, must, must watch and react to Creed I and Creed II. Rocky continues. Puts a really nice and proper end to Rocky series. You will love it. Thank you for your time and effort.
@@BossMovieReactionsThere is no reason not to do C3 as well, even if Stallone is not in the movie, it’s still part of the whole saga. I think of it as Rocky/Creed saga. Nobody would know Rocky without Apollo Creed. And it’s great to see continuation of the Creed legacy with his son.
That was great! Thank you! I didn’t expect this - the one that closed the franchise was the best, at least to me … that is something very rare to be seen. I am so glad you guys gave me the chance to watch the whole franchise, especially together with you. I am also glad you posted it on Saturday … tomorrow morning I’ll be out of town for 3 days, without access to RUclips, so I am pretty charged, like I always am after watching a reaction of yours. Million thanks again. Looking forward to your next reaction. All the best to you, from your Romanian brother …
Im glad you completed all the rocky series. As a number 1 fan frim Manila Philippines, I aleays look forward to watch all of your entire reaction video. Big Love from both of you.❤
Hey M & J! Thanks for the shout-out, prayers and well wishes! Things are getting back to reasonably normal here. The power was only out for a week. While grocery stores had obvious deficiencies, there was plenty enough to stay fed. Stores were even giving away drinking water. Personally, I only had 2 of the FEMA meals, and that was more out of convenience than necessity. While gas seemed in the shortest supply, folks were mostly patient and friendly. The Governor even set up some free gas distribution centers to ease the crunch. So, we're mostly counting our blessings that it wasn't worse. Glad to join you for another installment of the Rocky/Creed series. Once again, I'm right there with you on your various expressions and observations. There's just something irresistible about watching again through your (both) eyes. I'll certainly watch along however far you take the franchise. I do want to take this opportunity to recommend a franchise on the basis of top tier writing, acting, direction, etc, etc. I expect that future comments may get buried if I don't happen upon the reactions early enough. Anyway, you're through the original 6 Rocky movies, that's probably about equal to the watch time for the Lord of the Rings trilogy, if you watch the extended versions and I recommend that you do. I'll just say my endorsement comes from a reader who discovered Tolkien 52 years ago and who read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings for the first time then, and reread them every winter for the next 10 years. I know it's a long watch and a big investment to put out reaction videos, but this really is an exceptional trio. This is too long to cut short so I'll just say farewell and it was nice to see you as always.
Hi guys, thank you. Wow just wow Rocky has been my all time favourite since my early teens and I’ve watch the entire franchise many many times. As I’ve grown I learnt to understand and appreciate it in ways I didn’t as a kid, and I thought I had the film sussed until I watched your reactions. WOW you taught me how to watch and understand fully what the Rocky franchise was all about. I cried with you, laughed with you, and now with a fresh understanding of how to see with my heart and head and not just with my eyes., I’m going to re-watch your reactions. You’re both amazing. Thank you❤
I remember back in the 80s the ROCKY movies were so easily mocked for its repetitive nature and extremities, but the part people overlooked was the heart. And that's what Stallone was always good at was focusing on the heart of the story and characters. The speeches and the lines had more zing and cleverness because Stallone knew the characters so well. Even in those RAMBO movies Sly never lost focus on the heart of the matter. Even things as recent as THE EXPENDABLES. I think that's where a lot of action movies and sports films fail. They're more focused on the action moments instead of building a strong foundation so you want the characters to succeed. This movie was different. They didn't emphasize on making Mason Dixon villainous. They made him a real person. Maybe he's a bit of a jerk, but not a Clubber Lang or Drago. Instead they focused on Rocky's struggles and the things he cares about. I mean, would Paulie be the person he is if Rocky never met Adrian? Would Steps follow the wrong crowd if Rocky didn't step in? Even Spider Rico. Rocky touched everyone's life. Even that piece of shit loan shark.
Fun Fact: The scene when Rocky leaves the hall after the fight and the audience shouts "Rocky, Rocky" over and over again was a real farewell. All the extras in the audience did this to say goodbye to the film character Rocky Balboa because it was supposed to be the last film. Stallone was so moved that he came back to the audience as you can see in the film. That was real and real emotions.
The speech he made Go out and get what you worth , That's how winning is It's a very powerful speech he made I.Enjoyed your guys' reaction With Is respect and kindness Always You're a big fan Talks with chris
This is the first time I watched you guys because I love Rocky Balboa so much. Then at the end I find out there’s boxing history here! Subscribed to see the Creed films reactions and also going to look back on past reactions to the Rocky Anthology
Hello, guys! I've been following your RUclips channel since your reaction to ROCKY, and I just had to say something... I've been a Rocky fan since I was six years old, and now, as I approach my 50th birthday on November 16th, this character still means the world to me. Since I was a little girl, I’ve been a Rocky fan. I even danced to the Rocky theme at my first ballet recital, feeling his story shape my own. Rocky has been a lifeline, a steady source of inspiration through every chapter of my life. Fast forward to today, and I’ve watched the Rocky saga hundreds of times-so many that I can recite every line by heart. Sometimes, I even watch it on mute because I already know exactly what each character is saying. The story and spirit are just that powerful. I’ve seen every reactor’s take on the whole franchise, but yours stood out. You bring such heart to your reactions, and it's clear that you understand what makes Rocky so special. I truly hope you’ll continue with the Creed movies (though I think I heard you say you've already watched them before); but because Rocky’s journey doesn’t end with Rocky Balboa-there’s still so much left to experience. Watching the Creed films right after following Rocky’s entire path adds a depth that’s hard to put into words. If you haven’t seen them yet (and even if you have), I think you’ll still find that they bring something new and meaningful, especially for those of us who’ve been alongside Rocky for so long. Reacting to Creed would be the best 50th birthday gift I could ask for! You've heard it before, but you really have become my favorite reactors, and I'm excited to see what you'll do next. Thank you so much, and remember-keep punching!🥊🥊😊
Hello Ann, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and experience, and thank you for your kind words! We're so happy you found our channel. Btw, we have not seen Creed yet, and it's on our list to do next, especially C1 and C2, then we'll see... In other words, your birthday gift is coming!! (:
@@BossMovieReactions you have no idea how happy and excited I am for you to experience the Creeds for the first time, especially after watching all the Rockys. I can't wait!!! Thanks in advance!!! Keep safe! 😊
This is how you end a Rocky story I’m so glad you guys loved it what a legendary character by a legendary actor director writer it don’t get better than 1.2 and 6.
I loved your reactions to all 6 movies. Unlike you, I watched them over 30 years. I think Rocky Balboa is one of the greatest movie characters of all time. I have built an internal persona that tries to live up to him. His goodness. His heart. His stamina. I feel like you guys get what these movies are all about.
Hello Sam and Christy! Yes, Rocky must be one of the greatest movie characters ever. I've never seen anything better regarding that! Absolutely loved it! Thanks for watching along! (:
This was filmed during a series of actual professional fights at the Mandalay Bay, with a real crowd. The announcers are real-life sports announcers and they used real-life sports camera crewmen and crewwomen working for HBO sports. It was fight night there, with 7 or 8 fights scheduled. There's usually 15 to 30 minutes between fights, and that's when the Rocky crew would go out and do their thing, between the fights. Of course, everyone knows Rocky, so the crowd was really into it, like it was a real fight.
Congratulations on your successful LASIK procedure! I hope it's everything you expected and gives you great convenience and happiness. You do look very lovely...but I thought you were also quite beautiful WITH your glasses as well! Your husband is a very fortunate man! You two are one of my favorite couples to watch on YT for reactions...keep up the good work! :)
I love your movie reactions. I followed all your Rocky franchise reactions and I look forward to the Creed franchise reactions. You are both my favourite film reaction channel. Love from London UK ❤️
For many years, Rocky 5 was final Rocky movie for me and I was not satisfied. But this movie gave me the great closure. Thank you for reacting all Rocky movies!
rocky is almost a story about time, and what you put into your time.. well, ive enjoyed my time watching these rocky movies with you.. just look at that last shot of him, looking over that scene.. as the light dims.. a long street filled with the familiar mists of time
AWESOME REACTION! Watch the alternate ending with "Rocky" Winning! The fight was shot at a Bernard Hopkins fight in Las Vegas. "The Beast Inside" was Rocky's killer instinct from his youth and Rocky was having a hard time accepting that he still "got the heart but he doesn't have the "tools" anymore" (Mickey's words). This exhibition fight gave Rocky a chance to release the killer instinct forever and have closure to his boxing days. God bless you both!
There is a lot of trivia about this film, there are lots of bonuses that have been cut out and which can also be found on RUclips Whats extremely interesting is that the stadium wasn't extras; they were all spectators who were there for a boxing match that took place after the Rocky filming and that's why the Rocky chants are authentic from the audience and weren't requested by the director When Rocky walks out of the stadium and then back again, the scene was completely improvised, because Burt Young noticed how much Rocky was being celebrated, and it wasn't in the script that he should turn around again And Sylvester Stallone wasn't happy with part 5 and wanted to give Rocky a proper ending.
Yes, I know about the audience, I just saw the deleted scene (amazing) and I had a feeling that the "turning around" was improvised! Thx for sharing! (:
There was a deleted scene in Rocky 5 where Rocky comes across "Little" Marie. In that she was a bum living on the street asking for money. I'm glad they took that out.
A fighter breaking his hand by hitting the hip of the other fighter has happened. The one that comes to mind is in the third fight between Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward, which is one of the best trilogies of fights in boxing history. At some point during the fight Gatti broke his hand, and he knew it. He made it through the round, went back to his corner who knew he was hurt. Gatti could be heard on camera saying, "My hand is broken." When his corner asked him what he wanted to do he replied, "I have to keep going." He ended up winning the fight be decision.
The kid was being disrespectful naming the dog punchy that's what you call boxers that's been hit a lot punch drunk I love your reaction brother you guys make a fantastic couple keep up the awesome work❤
Hm, strange, I just responded to your comment a minute ago and now here it is again (?). Anyway, yes, I agree that it was a bit disrespectful, but I liked the fact that Steps mentioned that it was just a joke and I loved how Rocky played it. Good stuff! And thank you for your kind words! (:
Great reaction!! Was really excited and anxious waiting for this one! Y'all never disappoint. You're the only one who showed the ending with fans running up the steps and Rocky. Such a powerful ending. Being born and raised in Philly, Rocky is our hero and brother. We love when Sly comes here with his family. Cant wait for y'all to react to CREED. They are sooo amazing and come back full circle, well, the first 2 at least. 🥊🥊💚
Great reaction as always . I've read somewhere that Stallone didn't cast his real son Sage this time because he did not want that people misinterpreted the life speech he gives to his son in the movie. Regards from Chile 🇨🇱 🙂
Great reaction as always, love Rocky. You will also love another Sylvester Stallone classic film *Over the Top* a must see. Thank you, really enjoying these reactions and afterthoughts, you guys are awesome 👍💯❤
3 is just as good and made the most money of the 3 and I'm guessing once you watch the first 2 you will want to see it and they already are making a 4th
if you asked stallone in the 70's when he wrote this if he thought it would be such a massive impact, he would never in his wildest dreams think the franchise would be so huge.
OK....First the guy who gave Rocky the blessing in the dressing room b4 the fight his name was Spider.....Spider Rico the guy ROCKY fought at the club in the 1ST Movie.....Mason Dixon is EX-Middleweight Boxing Champion Antonio Tarver....Great Fighter..... CREED Is Apollo Creed's son
My favorite in the franchise! I saw it 3 times in theaters (the first one I got to see in theaters, born in 1990). From the first movie to this one they completed such an incredible journey arc for Rocky, even if you were to skip Rocky 2-5.
Rocky Balboa should be considered the master achievement of acting/writing/directing in cinematic history. Including Orson Wells in Citizen Kane. Including Woody Allen in Annie Hall. Spike Lee. Fellini. I'm not saying it is the greatest film, but it is the greatest mastery of this very rare skill of writing/acting/directing that few dare try and fewer succeed in. As actor he has a relaxation and ability to ad lib that only 30 years of playing Rocky can bring, As a result, his relaxation as actor evokes natural, raw performances from the other actors, including the inexperienced ones. So acting mastery. As director, he makes unique choices like shooting the final fight in HD to mimic how 95 % of people see a live boxing fight to add realism, the use of black and white mixed with color, unique shots and angles, this is directorial mastery. And as writer, you know I could go on forever about the writing mastery. Putting Biblical verse of Zachariah "It is not through strength or might but through faith" in Rocky street prose "It ain't about how hard you can hit it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward". The "stuff in the basement". This is Mark Twain or Tennessee Williams. So mastery of acting. Mastery of directing. Mastery of writing. Again, not arguing a better film than any other from an artistic perspective, but for this rare and most difficult task of writing/acting/directing oneself in a film this is the highest level of achievement possible. It should be recognized as such in film schools. By the way, the final fight was shot in Vegas before the Hopkins/Taylor fight. These were NOT EXTRAS! Stallone jumped in the ring with his crew before the main fight came on and basically had ONE TAKE! As hard as writing/acting/directing is Sly did it LIVE! He had to wrap before the real fight came on. No question, this should be recognized in the international film critic community as the highest level of achievement in this rare, difficult task of writing/acting/directing oneself in one film. All college film students who plan to write, act and direct their features, THIS is the gold standard! Thank you for your emotional and respectful review of a movie and series that has inspired hundreds of millions of people.
Thank you, Chris, for sharing your thoughts and your insights. I agree with everything you've said. A high level of achievement indeed! Thanks for being part of our journey!! (:
@@BossMovieReactions Thanks for reading my cinema geek rants! I think my ultimate goal is to get Rocky on it's 50th anniversary in a couple years reconsidered by AFI as the greatest American film ever made. Stallone as director makes a distinct choice to begin each sequel with the entire final part of the previous movie. If you watch Rocky 2, the opening has Rocky going to the hospital from the initial fight. Yet Rocky was released in 1976, Rocky 2 in 1979. So the fight takes place in 1979! Or Rocky 5, released in 1990 begins with Rocky in the shower from a fight that took place in 1985! Stallone is manipulating narrative time to make sure this is ONE film. Rocky is a 15 hour film told over 30 years, and is able to adjust to the cultural, racial and narrative challenges seamlessly. Given the increased importance of cultural relevance, I would argue Rocky(one 15 hour film) is the single greatest achievement in American film history. I'll put it up against AFI top 20 films like Bonnie and Clyde, Singin in the Rain or even Citizen Kane. At the very least, Rocky should be in the top 10 AFI greatest American films. But #78?!!!!!! Forrest Gump ahead of Rocky? Rocky won BEST PICTURE of 1976 and every other 1976 nominee, from Taxi Driver to Network is rated FAR above Rocky in AFI all time?!!! I have a degree in film studies from UCSB and am published in Camera Obscura and other film journals and this needs to be addressed with AFI. I plan to do so by the 50th anniversary of Rocky in 2026. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again for your work, and sorry for the super long cinema rants. I only wrote it because you guys said you were filmmakers so I thought you might be into film theory and criticism. GREAT WORK!!!!! Good luck with your channel

This movie is a perfect bookend to the first one. The ones in the middle are irrelevant money grabs in my opinion. I took up boxing 15 years ago. Rocky is a huge inspiration to me, especially now that I’m in my mid fifties, and recovering from a major illness. Sylvester Stallone got buff for this movie, and I believe I can too. That’s how winning is done.
Rocky has literally been a part of my entire life, and hopefully always will be. Handing out life lessons along side entertainment, Rocky is timeless.
I agree! So many amazing lessons that should never be forgotten! (:

I can’t believe he never won a freaking Oscar but Jennifer Lawrence has one
Yeah, Stallone deserves more than one Oscar... Acting and writing! (:
Yeah, I agree! An Oscar would have been well deserved, but Hollywood sucks for stuff like that! lol. (:
Just imagine: we saw this 16 years after 5. You saw it just a week apart. 🙂
Haha, yeah, good point!! (:
This whole film is a cry fest, but I really love watching all the people during the credits climb the steps paying tribute to the positively incredible inspiration Rocky has instilled in all of us.
I knew you'd be the only reactors that actually let the credits play out. 🥂💫
Haha, yeah, the credits with all the peeps climbing the stairs were fantastic!! (:
Me and my dad both cried like babies at this movie. May he rest in paradise.
Nice moment to share and a nice memory!! RIP.
the last scene where he says goodbye to the crowd wasnt part of the script, it just happen whlist they were filming, my fav scene of all the rocky movies
Yes, I had a feeling that that was unscripted!! (:
In case you don’t know, this isn’t Sylvester’s real son in the movie. Sage, the guy that played his son in the 5th movie, had other obligations and couldn’t do the movie. He died in real life about a decade ago.
Yes, I am aware of that. Thx! (:
The filming of the fight was done after an actual boxing match and used the TV cameras of the arena. The crowd was a real crowd, not actors or extras. The same announcers from TV as well. There was an alternate ending filmed where Rocky wins to confuse the crowd
Yes, I did read about that afterward. Thx for sharing! (:
It didn't take long for this to become my favorite film in the "core" Rocky series. The heart is why. The inspiration, and the fact that it's a "life" story with a lot of great lessons. Over thirty plus years, it feels like a cinematic journey of a lifetime.
Yes, the HEART of it is what makes these movies so amazing! (:
Rocky 5 came out when i was 5 years old. Balboa came out when i was 20. As someone that grew up absolutely loving the first five of course i was there opening night for this one and let me tell you, it was the first movie i've ever been to where the audience was cheering just as much as the crowds in the movie. Nor was there a dry eye in the house by the end. A truly amazing experience.
That sounds amazing!! (:
His fading out in the distance at the end makes me cry. Some of us have lived our lives with Rocky as a backdrop. Everything ends. Almost 50 years this saga went.
Yeah, this is truly amazing. Thanks for watching along! (:
Fun fact: The fight at the end was shot before an actual boxing match, meaning that the people in the audience weren't extras. As soon as the arena was full, the fans in attendance were told a Rocky scene being filmed before that evening scheduled fight.
Yes, I did read that in the Trivia. Interesting stuff! Thanks for sharing! (:
@@BossMovieReactions My pleasure. Great channel. Cheers from 🇨🇦
@@davidvainqueur5511 👍
There will never be a movie like the Rocky series again. All episodes are amazing... You should also watch the movie Rambo First Blood, it is very effective, there is a soldier's drama rather than a war.
Agreed! And yes, Rambo is on our list! (:
I remember when me and my friends decided to see this in the theater we were worried at first because of Rocky 5 but man everybody in the audience including us loved it.
Yep, loved it all the way!! (:
Fun fact, look it up...the guy playing Paulie was a real life boxer.
@@veterangames5223 I was gonna mention that, but I thought everyone knew that. But most people actually don't.
Yep Burt Young, he was also in the military.
Yes, I do know that. Saw old pics, too. Pretty cool! (:
Yeah, I looked him up a while ago! (:
It's been a pleasure to watch your reactions of this great film franchise, a great finish!
THANK YOU!! (:
I was lucky enough to watch Rocky 4, 5 and Rocky Balboa in the cinema 🎦 ❤
Yeah, you were lucky!! (:
Stallone mostly did action dramas and action sci-fi/comedies after Rocky 1-5. Some of them are really fun (Tango & Cash, Cliffhanger, Demolition Man), and some are entertaining enough fare (Lock Up, Daylight, even Judge Dredd for the set design and costumes). A deeper cut of his is Copland (1997), definitely recommended.
Thanks for that. Yeah, Copland came up a few times! Looking forward to it! (:
Tango/Cash is the best non Rocky movie. Cliffhanger would be 2nd. U should definitely watch them. I think Sly directed Cliffhanger (or helped) the effects/scenery is amazing. He’s actually very high up sometimes harnessed sometimes not.
@@mellycook A Cliffhanger sequel is reportedly in the works.
@@curtismartin2866 I’ve heard that and I hope it gets done. I heard Sly say he most likely won’t be climbing he’ll leave it for the younger guys
I forgot to add the Expendables is also a good set of movies (I haven’t seen 4 yet) you’ll have fun naming all the action co-stars and guest shots. 1 is the one where Sly was injured badly
@@mellycook Yep, both movies are on our list! Thx! (:
Have loved watching along with you guys. Rocky is my favorite fictional character of all time, and favorite franchise of all time. Please please please continue the journey with Creed, you will not be disappointed.
Yes, we'll be watching C1 soon... Thanks for being part of our journey! (:
Yes, this franchise is one of the best things I've ever seen. Oscar-worthy indeed! (:
Same the only one I saw in the theater. Fast forward now I m a parent of a grown-up so much more resonate with this movie :)
@@devnexen 👍🥊
54:08 - I absolutely love that shot. Rocky is like Philadelphia's guardian angel. Forever always looking over them.
YES!! AMAZING!! (:
If you guys like Sylvester Stallone then you should check out First Blood. First Blood is actually the first of the Rambo movies but the title of the movie is First Blood. I think that you would really like it. Stallone plays the character of a former special forces soldier named John Rambo. This character isn't anything like Rocky but Stallone does such a good job that you will be convinced that he is John Rambo just as you are convinced that he is Rocky.
Yes, Rambo is on our list and I'm excited about it! (:
This movie is so good. It's a perfect bookend to the Rocky saga. I love they incorporated Adrian into the movie so much. Gone but definitely not forgotten.
Yeah, it was a fantastic movie. And it was indeed nice to see how Adrian was still a part of it! (:
My heart ached watching this movie knowing that Adrian was gone. You could see how much pain Rocky was in and how he tried to still be himself even when he wanted to fall apart sometimes.
Yes, that's what I've observed as well. Very sad! Thx for watching! (:
I've watched multiple reaction videos to the ROCKY movies recently and I have to say, this was definitely one of my favorites of them. You two are a great team! I've subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching more of your videos very soon. 🙂
Wow, thank you so much, buddy! Thanks for your kind words, thanks for watching, and thanks for subscribing! (:
I literally felt closure after watching this movie.
Me too! (:
On the Blu-ray of this. In the deleted scenes. There was a great extended scene with Rocky & Pauly talking in the alleyway. Burt Young should have been nominated for award. In that scene he really breaks down. Saying how sad he is for being such a jerk to Adrian, Rocky and everyone is whole life. It really made you feel sad for him and he kind of redeems himself knowing he was always kind of a A-hole to everyone. R.I.P. Burt Young
Just watched it. Amazing indeed! Thx! (:
R.I.P. Pig Pen
Yes, I remembered his name, not his face! (:
100%
The Rocky franchise is not over. Next is the trilogy "Creed". I know you will enjoy this as well. Love the channel. My introduction is Rocky reaction video. And now I'm hooked.
Thanks for watching! Yes, we'll be watching C1 and C2 next, and then maybe C3... Stay tuned! (:
Great reaction once again both of you. Your emotional intelligence and insightfulness leaves most reactors in your wake.
Aw, thank you so much for your kind words! We appreciate it! Thank you, Jake!! (:
After watching this movie, several times, I have come to realize the fact that Rocky wants to do for other people the way that he wanted somebody to do for him. In the original Rocky, it took Mik 10 years to come by and make sure Rocky was OK, and tried to do something for him. I think Rocky feels that he wants to do things for people right now in the moment, and not 10 years down the road.
Great point. Love it! (:
Happy the surgery was a success for Jessica. Wish the best for you two
THANK YOU! (:
What a beautiful reaction!
I have love Rocky since -85. I was 7 years old and saw Rocky IV for the first time.
Awesome franchise!
Yes, it's an awesome franchise indeed! Thx for watching! (:
Paulie is sad and ashamed how he treated her
Yes, he was. Sad to see... /-:
The man doing dishes was same boxer in opening scene of first movie.
Yes, I didn't recognize his face, but I recognized his name, "Spider." (:
When Steps named the dog 'Punchy' it was an insult. It's a term meaning a punch drunk old fighter, a disrespectful term. Sly did a good job on this film.
Yes, correct, Steps even mentioned that he was joking and Rocky was aware of it! (:
Glad to see you two! You will love this one.
Oh, yeah, we did!! (:
It was great re-watching the series with you guys. Glad you loved it. Looking forward to your "Afterthoughts".

You absolutely must, must, must watch and react to Creed I and Creed II. Rocky continues. Puts a really nice and proper end to Rocky series. You will love it. Thank you for your time and effort.
Yep, we'll do C1 and C2. (:
@@BossMovieReactionsThere is no reason not to do C3 as well, even if Stallone is not in the movie, it’s still part of the whole saga. I think of it as Rocky/Creed saga. Nobody would know Rocky without Apollo Creed. And it’s great to see continuation of the Creed legacy with his son.

HELLO Philip!! Good to hear from you, and we're happy to hear that things are getting better. I made a note of all you have written. Thanks!! (:
The speech rocky gives to Robert is one of my favorite rocky speeches. such a good scene

I've really been enjoying your reactions, great job guys.😊
Thank you so much, Peter!! 😁
Agreed 100%. (:
Fun Fact: The scene when Rocky leaves the hall after the fight and the audience shouts "Rocky, Rocky" over and over again was a real farewell. All the extras in the audience did this to say goodbye to the film character Rocky Balboa because it was supposed to be the last film. Stallone was so moved that he came back to the audience as you can see in the film. That was real and real emotions.
Yes, I had a feeling that this was not planned! Thx for sharing! (:

Hello there, and welcome to our channel. We're happy you found us. And thanks for subscribing! Enjoy!! (:

Yeah, I did read about that on a Trivia page. And I recognized the announcers, etc. Good stuff! Thanks for sharing! (:

AWESOME REACTION! Watch the alternate ending with "Rocky" Winning! The fight was shot at a Bernard Hopkins fight in Las Vegas. "The Beast Inside" was Rocky's killer instinct from his youth and Rocky was having a hard time accepting that he still "got the heart but he doesn't have the "tools" anymore" (Mickey's words). This exhibition fight gave Rocky a chance to release the killer instinct forever and have closure to his boxing days. God bless you both!
Yes, thanks for sharing your thoughts on that! And God bless you as well! (:
There is a lot of trivia about this film, there are lots of bonuses that have been cut out and which can also be found on RUclips
Whats extremely interesting is that the stadium wasn't extras; they were all spectators who were there for a boxing match that took place after the Rocky filming and that's why the Rocky chants are authentic from the audience and weren't requested by the director
When Rocky walks out of the stadium and then back again, the scene was completely improvised, because Burt Young noticed how much Rocky was being celebrated, and it wasn't in the script that he should turn around again
And Sylvester Stallone wasn't happy with part 5 and wanted to give Rocky a proper ending.

And I think that had the original actress too.
That scene I didn't see, but I saw the one with Paulie and Rocky in the alley. Very powerful! (:
The way the fight was shot in this movie is just brilliant feels like an actual PPV bout
YES!! True! (:
A fighter breaking his hand by hitting the hip of the other fighter has happened. The one that comes to mind is in the third fight between Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward, which is one of the best trilogies of fights in boxing history. At some point during the fight Gatti broke his hand, and he knew it. He made it through the round, went back to his corner who knew he was hurt. Gatti could be heard on camera saying, "My hand is broken." When his corner asked him what he wanted to do he replied, "I have to keep going."
He ended up winning the fight be decision.
Wow, thanks for sharing!! (:

My favorite in the franchise! I saw it 3 times in theaters (the first one I got to see in theaters, born in 1990). From the first movie to this one they completed such an incredible journey arc for Rocky, even if you were to skip Rocky 2-5.
Yeah, this was indeed amazing! (:
I see you guys are working hard like Rocky, responding to every comment. It's going to pay off. It ain't about how hard you can hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.
@@chriswylie253 Haha, yeah, thanks for the rant! You have my vote for Rocky being in the top 10. I just put all our Rocky reactions together as ONE film, a "Rocky Marathon." It's about 5 hours long. Cheers! (:
@@chriswylie253 Yes, I'm trying hard to respond to every comment. It takes a huge amount of time (on top of editing and everything else), but we love to be connected to our audience! Obviously, I won't be able to do it forever, but so far I'm hitting back and moving forward! (:
It was a really fun and heart warming experience going through the Rocky journey with you two. Definitely watch Creed. At the very least the first one, you will both enjoy it. Can’t wait to see what you do next after Creed.
Thank you! Yeah, after C1 and C2, we'll probably go back to some comedies... We'll see! Stay tuned! (:
@@BossMovieReactions yeah some comedies would be nice. Tropicana Thunder, Say It Isn’t So, The Heartbreak Kud, and Kingpin are good ones. And Burn After Reading by the Coen Brothers is a Washington DC set movie with a lot of comedic moments. I’m sure you and Jess would love it.
@@jamesdamiano8894 Thanks for that. I just checked, and all of these movies are on our list! (:

Thanks for your kind words and your suggestions. We appreciate it! I added the movies to our list. Thanks for being on our movie journey with us! (:
This movie is a perfect bookend to the first one. The ones in the middle are irrelevant money grabs in my opinion.
I took up boxing 15 years ago. Rocky is a huge inspiration to me, especially now that I’m in my mid fifties, and recovering from a major illness. Sylvester Stallone got buff for this movie, and I believe I can too.
That’s how winning is done.
Yeah, that's how winning is done! I hope your recovery goes well! All the best! (:
I absolutely loved this movie. I feel Sylvester Stallone should have gotten an academy award for it. It had so much heart
Yes, an Oscar would have been appropriate... Even for R1 or R2. (:
Just popping it to say I can't wait to watch the reaction later!
Haha, that's awesome! ENJOY!! (:
