Rocky Balboa (2006)
Rocky Balboa is a 2006 American sports drama film written, directed by, and starring Sylvester Stallone. It is the sequel to Rocky V (1990) and the sixth installment in the Rocky film series. It also stars Burt Young and Antonio Tarver in his only acting role. In the film, Rocky Balboa (Stallone), now an aging small restaurant owner, is challenged to an exhibition fight by hothead young boxer Mason Dixon (Tarver).

I hope Sly never makes another. you cant beat this movie. its perfect.
What I love is that Rocky doesn’t even care if he won at the end, he already won by going the distance - just like the first film.
That Rocky speech, I have it hung up on my wall in my office!! One of the greatest ever!
47:54 Fun Fact: These three girls running up the stairs are Scarlet, Sistine, and Sophia Stallone...his daughters.
Mason: You one crazy old man.
Rocky: You'll get there..
That moment when Coby realized the other movies are named Creed and Rocky doesn't necessarily survive this one... That was epic.
Spider, who eats consistently in Rocky's restaurant as his guest, was from the very start of the first Rocky movie. Rocky is fighting Spider Rico in an underground boxing match.
Rocky is easily one of my all time favorite fictional characters. I loved watching you experience this franchise and be SO invested. I hope you continue on into the Creed films.
Great reaction! Rocky really is a mentor to so many of us walking around today who have grown up loving these films. It’s so awesome to see reactors getting inspired in the same way, no matter how different they may be from a big, simple ham-and-egger from inner city Philly. Fight hard. Love deeply. Never lose hope. These lessons are universal. Thanks for choosing to react to these movies. They are such a bright spot in the history of cinema. You’re a true gem!
I love Coby's reactions, so genuine.
and loud as hell
I love her comments at the end of this movie… I can watch her doing anything or nothing at all forever and be happy. ❤
That may have been the best reaction to discovering Adrian at the start of this film I’ve ever seen. And your growing terror for Rocky as it went on was perfect. One of the most entertaining reactions I’ve seen.
Never skip. Don't let others taste ever deter you from anything. It's not my favorite, but Rocky V is part of Rocky's journey.
You're AWESOME. Watching your emotion through this franchise makes me emotional because of how much the franchise means to me! You rock sweetheart!
true words...
They sing "High Hopes" when the Phillies win. You have the best Rocky reactions. The tears still flow, even watching reactions. Rocky is my favorite movie.
"Besides my kid being born, this is the greatest night in the history of my life. Yo Adrian I did it". Greatest moment in all the Rocky movies.
@@user-xb3td6ho5b not just in Rocky movies
I love the fact that Mike Tyson exists canonically inside the "Balboa Universe" - and he's apparently a Balboa fan because he immediately talks shit to Dixon as soon as the guy makes it to the ring.
Great reaction. Probably the best I’ve seen to this movie. This film is one of my favourite movies ever. It manages to be exciting, emotional, funny, poignant and dare I say it, realistic. There’s no attempt to hide the characters age and the whole concept of ‘an exhibition’ is a perfect set up. But as we all know, there’s far more to these films than the boxing. I’d say this entry is the deepest and most heartfelt of the series and it also contains dialogue and speeches that have now passed into legend. The widely and often quoted ‘it ain’t about how hard you can hit..’ is one of the greatest motivational quotes of all time and I’m a sucker for Dukes ‘let’s start building some hurtin’ bombs’ . It was also great to hear you praise Stallone. He was written off for many years as just another high T action star, but he’s always been a great actor and gifted writer and director. His work in this is amongst his best. Nice work.
I always felt the final wave to Adrian was also Rocky waving goodbye to the audience.
"good old fashioned blunt force trauma" has to be up there as 1 of the best lines ever in a Rocky movie
The thing that people miss about Antonio Tarver who plays Mason Dixon is that the character eerily echoes his real life. He was one of the best boxers of his generation having won titles in multiple weight classes in the WBA, IBF and WBC. Yet he was never regarded as one of the greats because of the time he fought. Even when he won his first titles from Roy Jones Jr. people immediately said it was because Roy Jones Jr. was way past his prime and fighting in the wrong weight class. There was a lot of merit to that. And because Antonio picked up the title mantle at a time where a golden era was ending with great fighters, there really was not anyone impressive for him to fight left. So the narrative was that he fought cream puffs.
I'm sure this is why Stallone chose him for this role as he may have drawn inspiration from his actual career. And it is a known fact that Stallone wanted the Rocky series to pay homage to a number of his personal heroes in professional boxing which he was a huge fan of so he pulled from actual champions and their championship fights as models especially Ali, Frasier and Foreman.
George Foreman literally did what Rocky did in this movie.
Not exactly. Foreman was a little younger and he won his fight.
Not really. This would be more like if the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul actually happened or happens
@havok6280 foreman was A LOT younger
@@gsquat Chuck Wepner
@@hawkeyegeorgewhat about Wepner? Nothing about this movie relates to him at all
The Romans-Greeks had their mythological hero’s. We have Rocky!
I simply love how invested you were with this Rocky journey. Wonderful reaction.
Ive got the how hard you hit speech up on my wall with a picture of Rocky on the steps .... no better character in movies than Rocky Balboa...he's all heart
These movie reactions are new to me. I have always enjoyed music reactions (singers, bands, songs) then one day a movie reaction showed up in my feed. As a lover of film I thought I would give it a look. I must say I have not found a better person to react to these movies than you. You are so so SO invested in what you’re watching. 1000%!!!
A good subtitle for this movie would be Rocky Balboa: Full Circle.
Rocky films have always had great life lessons
I just binge watched all your Rocky reactions! I loved seeing you get swept up in the magic. I’m a lifelong Rocky fan and these movies were just such a significant part of my life. Maybe the most important movie franchise to me. It’s something I always come back to and it gives me comfort. In a weird way, Rocky Balboa feels like part of my family. He’s just always been there. I was 9 when Rocky V came out and it was the first Rocky movie I got to see in the theater. But I had already been a fan since I was a toddler. And then to have Rocky Balboa come out when I was an adult, and was in a very difficult time of self-doubt and personal hardship. It just felt like a gift and a sign. Life really is about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. I was in tears the first time I heard that speech. It was like hearing it from my uncle or someone that close to me. I loved your reactions to all these movies and how connected you got to these characters. You totally get it and it was so awesome to watch it happing for someone else. Thanks for these videos!
He meant Rocky would kill him. No one respects Dixon, not even his own team.
Originally SLY was going to have Rocky killed, IM glad he changed his mind.
I love Mason's story arc here. He is at the top but doesn't feel like it was hard enough to get there. He is hungry for a real challenge to test him so he see what his own limits are. Rocky gave him exactly what he was wanting and he was able to get that self respect he wanted. Antagonist, but not a bad guy.
I want to see Adronis Creed take on Mason Dixon in a future Creed film.
I really liked how Talia SUPER endorsed the decision for the story purposes to have her character die. She really liked the movie, and I heard she also very much liked CREED.
Yes Coby watch the Creed series, Rocky’s story is continued and he is just as much a lead character sharing with Michael B Jordan. Would love to see your reaction🙂
As a guy, I always took this one a lot deeper. Age is like a circling vulture, ... awaiting the arcing over of our body's vitality. I too struggle with the admissions and surrendering to time. As guys we fight this. I find it a bit emasculating, yet freeing too. I appreciate the exploration of Rocky's thoughts around still feeling the call to compete. Perhaps I'm over thinking it or something. But Rocky Balboa finishes the series arc with the best two being the original and this bookend last chapter.
Love your reactions. It’s Mason “The Line” Dixon, as in the Mason Dixon line. And yeah it’s unclear but I too think promoters were saying prime Rocky would win
Coby, you should definitely watch Creed as it continues the legend of Rocky. You may also like The Grudge Match with Stallone and De Niro boxing.
Best part of my day.
The beautiful Coby ❤
And, a fantastic film. An awesome franchise.
CREED and CREED 2 are a must.
Great video, keep it up 👍
This was nearly 20 years after Rocky 5 and so Stallone knew it would be a lot of young people's first Rocky movie. So no recap
OK watching your reactions. Got me in tears that seen this movie several times to so glad you liked it. You seem like a really awesome person. Thank you so much for your reaction. What you do take care and have a nice day.❣️
Yay Coby is back with another GOAT reaction
The fight wasn’t about beating Dixon. It was about both of them gaining their due respect for being real fighters. They were cheering Rocky’s name at the end, but Dixon was being cheered as well, both during the fight and after his victory was announced. Dixon was more like Apollo in the first movie; he wasn’t an enemy, just an opponent. Because Rocky put up such a good fight, and Dixon had to get serious with him, it showed that he was a real fighter too, and could take on a real challenger and win. The fight proved both Rocky and Dixon were real, honest champions who deserved their cred.
I watched all the Rocky movies for the first time so I could watch these
Also I replayed this part about 5 times 34:10 lol
This really is a good movie and the coaxing premise quite believable. So many great comments already posted so I'll just say another thanks to Coby...the hands down, undisputed Champ of movie reactions!! Good health to all!
23:59 You should do a youtube search of the deleted scenes for this movie. There's one in particular that takes place in this alley that shows, Burt Young doing some amazing acting. Also, see if you can find the alternate ending as well.
There’s actually an alternate ending where Rocky won by decision, but I think most would agree this version is the right one.
In the alternative ending of the film
Rocky beats Dixon by split decision
Just when i thought I couldn't be more in love, Coby breaks out the one-strap overalls. ❤
Hi Coby, great react, now let's gooo to the "Creed Saga "
Please Continue with the Creed Series. More Rocky and others from the franchise will re-appear. I Love how invested, Coby gets with the characters.
You are a Gem! I’ve had a great time watching you react to to all of them. Rocky is just such a great character. Lookin forward to whatever movie you watch next. 𝑪𝒉𝒆𝒆𝒓𝒔 🍻
Beautiful movie. The speech to his son is so moving and inspirational.
the Jake Paul, Mike Tyson situation .......I swear this movie just predicted the whole Jake Paul vs Iron Mike fight
Coby does a great job in reacting to movies always seems to be fully invested! 👍🏻 The is definitely one of the best of the Rocky series! 🥊
THere's an alternative ending that was filmed, available in other places. But this one, it's the best version. Remember too, it's not the last you'll see of the Rocky character.
the emotion rollercoaster, in the movie and from the reaction 😆
"She died...."
"knock m all out" .... "i'm glad he didnt hit them"
😂
The face at 40:46
35:49 You now owe Michael Buffer $10,000 for using his trademarked catchphrase. LOL
I really wish they hadn't cut Paulie's scene in the alley. Such a good moment for him.
BTW the old man who insisted on washing dishes in the restaurant was Spider Rico. From the opening fight of the first movie.
That Paulie scene is heartbreaking.
You weren't alone in tearing up at this one though probably for different reasons. The age thing, people around you dropping away with the passing years ... movies that touch on this get to me more than they used to, for sure. Definitely watch Creed, but I look forward to whatever you watch. Thanks.
The thing with Mason is that he's not a bad guy or the "villain," the way Clubber Lang and Drago were in Rocky 3 & 4 respectively. Like Rocky, Mason has something to prove. He wants to prove, especially to himself, that he's worthy of being world champion.
Well I have just finished watching you watching EVERY Rocky movie and thoroughly enjoyed watching ur emotional ride. Loved it how it made you cry every single time 😂😅😊
Great reaction Coby. This was the perfect way to wrap up the Rocky series. I absolutely love Little Marie in this.
For Criminal Content, you really ought to consider doing Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. It is perfect for the channel, and very few reactors have taken it on. I guarantee you'll love it.
Please watch Creed next. It continues the Rocky story.
It doesn’t and it’s racist.. you must really hate white people
Creed does not continue the rocky story, it's telling the story of Adonis creed
@@AntoineRideaux-wd1zkit also continues Rocky's story. Maybe you just weren't paying attention
Please! They are all good!!
Nah, it is a DEI, ESG, FEMINIST production, a waste of time.
Gonna show my age. Rocky premiered 1 year and 3 days after I was born. I feel like I've grown up with Rocky. This is by far the best finale to a movie series I've seen. It was never really about boxing. Boxing was the vehicle used to show what passion, heart, determination, and love can do in one's life. He never quit. He never laid down. No matter what the world hit him with. His heart was larger than life and therefore life couldn't crush him or keep him down. Sounds sappy I know, but if when my life here on earth comes to a close, people, especially my loved ones, my son can say that I never quit moving forward, that would truly be a life well lived.
Born in 1966 watched Rocky in the theater at 10 years old changed my life and watched all of them in the theaters through the years
Lol. I was 14. I wanted to see Jeff Bridges King Kong, but my dad was like, " we're seeing the boxing movie." When Rocky first came out like it was instantly popular, but we saw it before anybody really knew what it was. I did not want to go. But I'm sure glad I did
@@kevinhelton734 I was 9 going on 10 when the original Rocky premiered.
I was 2. I remember watching the original fight scene over and over on our Betamax video player when I was about 6 or 7 then running around the garden "training" 😂
Thank you for crying. It made feel less alone. I love watching you react to movies I love. Despite the strangeness of this outlet, I am grateful.
Great reaction Coby! Every single movie makes you cry 😢😢 I love how invested you are and fell in love with him and his story ❤
the best films ever
One thing is that Sylvester Stallone is a great actor at portraying men being emotional or upset. He is a good crier. He is famous for playing tough guys, but his greatest moments are when he is vulnerable. Not just in Rocky, but in First blood and even Copland. Stallone must get credit for being able to portray multi dimensional characters. I also like that the Rocky character shows that being nice, being generous, are positive, admirable traits for a young man.
I CANNOT BELIEVE this movie came out 18 years ago!?!?
A brilliant emotional reaction 👍, i love this franchise & this was a emotional roller-coaster on so many levels.
Rockys speech about it ain't how hard you hit but how hard you can get hit & keepmoving forward is one of the most iconic realistic speeches & certainly echoes in mine & many others lives.
Your a diamond Coby big hugs from England 🏴
Pauly once said the truest thing about Rocky; "Your all heart Rock". That's Rocky you know; he's all Heart. A good, sweet guy. The absolute best. I can't say enough good things about Rocky Balboa.
My GODDD!!!the more & more I watch movies with Coby and hear her AMAZING laugh see her heart felt reactions hear her insightful yet super cute comments the More my heart melts for this Woman. Ugh 😣 🩵♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🥰
Funny thing, “Weird Al” did a parody of “Eye of the Tiger” about Rocky now retired and owning Ian’s running a deli shop.
12:17 omg that is my dad now at 75 he stands up for people and being 6’3 former truck driver he can be very intimidating ❤
Coby, I loved watching you go on the emotional roller coaster during this movie.
This film was a perfect bookend to the Rocky movies. In Rocky 1, he didn't care if he won or not - he just wanted to prove he could go the distance. And in this film, it's the same. We saw that at the end of the 1976 film - as they call the results Rocky was only interested in finding Adrian, and in this film he's already left the ring and walking out before they even announce the winner.
Stallone could easily have gone for a Hollywood style ending where Rocky (touching 60) somehow becomes World Heavyweight Champion again by beating Dixon, but that would have been pretty unrealistic. Rocky wasn't looking to reclaim belts. He's already been Champion twice and had his big wins all through Rocky 2, 3 and 4. I prefer that he wrote it so that Rocky just wanted to prove he could still stand toe-to-toe with a great fighter and hold his own, and winning or losing was inconsequential to him.
I love the ensemble! Takes me back to when I was a kid and this was in style.
One last hurrah as almost everyone from the original movie and Rocky Balboa is gone now. It ends the way it started. Rocky didn't win the fight. He won his dignity.
I always stop it and then watch the alternate ending where rocky wins because well.... Rocky wins lol
loved your reaction. It was so heartfelt. I watch a lot of movie reactions, above all I appreciate sincerity. This is what you give every time, thank you for honesty. Take care and best wishes.
When Paulie gets “retired” and goes to the restaurant. there’s a deleted scene of rocky and paulie talking in the alley. Such an incredible scene they should’ve kept in
WE STILL NEED THE CREED REACTIONS
The Rocky series is the greatest love story ever told
As an “aging” man myself who was once a warrior, that “stuff in the basement” speech gets to me every time.
You should have your own channel, man
This is such a great movie. The original Rocky came out the year I was born. I grew up with these movies. When this one came out I rushed to see it and cried so hard in the theater. These movies are some of the only movies that have been able to make me cry
Your big-eyed reaction when you saw Adrian's pic on the nightstand, trying to figure out if she was in the movie or not, was priceless
"I missed Talia Shire, right?"? I think that's the fastest I've seen a reactor even get the idea that something might be up.
Now it´s time for Creed saga!! A great continuation.
Rocky's in the first two Creed movies.
In the fight game the last thing that goes is power. You get slower, reflexes slows, cardio drops, chin turns to glass but power will still be there. Tyson still has his power not as the same power as in his prime but still got that touch of death in them hands.
There have been so many great and iconic moments put to film, but none more epic than 40:45 of this reaction!!
I love him too!!!
after the fight against Apollo in Rocky 1. the doctors advised him not to fight otherwise he risked going blind. afterwards it was that he risked damaging his brain. and 20 years later he still fights without problem 😅.
the doctors almost deprived us of this magnificent saga.
This is what stars do, they earn it. Corny or not, Stallone probably hasn’t skipped leg day for decades and continually put out entertainment, good or not great, for all that time. He earns my dollar. One of the few that do.
"Fight a child" - funnily enough, Antonio Tarver (Mason Dixon) was pushing 40 when this came out, but definitely looked younger.
Get to watch movies from past and enjoying watching it through you. 🤗
Adrian had to die, there's no chance in hell she'd let Rocky fight again at his age
"You're one crazy old man."
"You'll get there."
I LOOOVE the relationshi that grows between Rock and Little Marie
