Rocky II (1979)
Rocky III (1982)
Rocky IV (1985)
Rocky is an American sports drama multimedia franchise created by Sylvester Stallone, based on the life of Chuck Wepner, which began with the eponymous 1976 film and has since become a cultural phenomenon, centered on the boxing careers of Rocky Balboa and his protégé Adonis Creed.
The original film (Rocky) was written by Stallone and directed by John G. Avildsen, and was followed by the sequels Rocky II (1979), Rocky III (1982), Rocky IV (1985), Rocky V (1990), and Rocky Balboa (2006). Stallone wrote and directed four of the five sequels, with Avildsen returning to direct Rocky V. All six films were distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.[1] A spin-off film series followed, with Creed (2015), Creed II (2018), and Creed III (2023). The series stars Michael B. Jordan as boxer Adonis Creed, with Stallone as his trainer in the first two films. The Creed films were directed by Ryan Coogler, Steven Caple Jr., and Jordan respectively.

The thing every first-time Rocky-watcher realizes: It's not a boxing story, it's a love story.
I look at Rocky as a physical representative of someone overcoming adversity that we deal with at one time or another. When Rocky takes those punches and goes down...that's us going through unemployment, divorce, physical, mental, emotional or financial hardships....it's all about taking the hits and kèep moving forward which is why Rocky more times than not comes out on top.
It's actually a story that's a parallel to his life trying to get this movie made. I believe that the $150,000 he's getting for the fight in Rocky is what he was originally offered for the script that he turned down. This movie was so inspirational to my generation.
i always thought of it as a story about last chances. Rockys last chance to be somebody, mickeys last chance to manage a champ, adriens last chance for love....
ok bro we get it... every rocky reaction this gets copy and pasted
Yeah but every sports movie is always a drama first, then sports movie. Warrior, Million Dollar Baby, Coach Carter. They are all dramas. Just like Rocky. They were never really sports movies
Who told you that this was a boxing movie?
It's a love story.
That's why it's great watching female reactors who think they're watching a Boxing movie & fall in love with the Love Story
If you dont cry from rocky 2, i dont trust you as a person
me too
Nah ... it's Mickey dying for me.
I don't care how old you are, how many times you see it ... I don't care how tough you are.
Get up you son of a bitch!
Cos Mickey loves ya! 😢
@@ChurchNietzscheno it’s clearly Rocky 2 when Adrian wakes up from the coma and tells him to win , win
if you don't wet your pants in the fourth movie...i trust you as a person
My younger brother and I went to see Rocky IV opening night. The final fight against Drago was surreal. All of the audience on their feet cheering on Rocky as if we were at a real fight. Incredible experience.
Same thing happened when I watched it at the cinema. Was amazing, I will never forget it
That's so awesome, happy for you
Burgess Meredith played the Penguin on the old 60s Batman TV show
I love how Coby makes fists and starts like she's throwing them with Rocky, she got so into it
Burgess Meredith was a very accomplished actor. He started out as a classical juvenile lead on Broadway then appeared in the classic movie OF MICE AND MEN and a classic Twilight Zone episode and is most remembered for playing the Penguin in the 1960s TV series BATMAN ("Fifty years as an actor and I'm remembered for playing a damn duck!").
👓 📚
IMO, ..Burgess Meredith should have at least received an academy award nomination for playing Mick. He brought such heart and vulnerability to the role for being not only Rocky's trainer, but as a father figure too.
Don't forget about Grumpy Old Men!
Don't forget the voice of Golobulous from G.I.JOE the movie
His best movie IMHO, was 1939's "Of Mice and Men" the great Steinbeck novel.
Rocky: "ADRIAN!!! ADRIAN!!!"
Adrian: "I LOVE YOU!"
Rocky: "I love you!"
Me: "Who's cutting onions underneath my eyes?"
There is no tomorrow.. Rip Carl Weathers.
You comment great...but I'm a great commenter.
CIA had him pushing too many pencils
@@flerbus "over here... anytime"
Apollo : Can he swim.
Paulie : With a name like Rock.
That makes me chuckle everytime 😂 Paulie has such a good story arc imo
Coby's enthusiasm, full immersion and emotion is what ya want in "movie react" vids. Watching her watch Rocky 2, 15th round was so fun 😊
Indeed😊
That's Sly's real life dog too. Butkus Stallone 1972-1981. A big lovable Bull Mastiff he named after the legendary and late great Hall of Fame Chicago Bears Middle Linebacker Dick Butkus. He did buy that dog back and he also put him in the movie. That's a really cool real life story too. Outside of being a fight fan, Rocky is far from who Sly really is. He is super smart and a VERY underrated actor/writer/director. He's an artist who's body of work has given so much to film history. He is a living legend. Rocky is both a love story and a story about life itself. It's about taking hard hits in life, but getting your ass back up, giving it EVERYTHING you got and not giving up. That's the victory. You never give up. Great reaction kiddo! 👍🏿
I was born and raised in Philly, in the (early) 70s, and i grew up with this film (the first Rocky). Sylvester Stallone *was* Rocky for me. Like, even though I loved the movie, I thought he wasnt really acting. Evem when he starred in First Blood, I thought that they were fairly similar characters (in terms of emoting). When I turned 18 or 19, it had been some years since I watched the Rocky or Rambo films, so I revisted them and was blown away at how truly deep the films were, and just how excellent Stallone was in his performances. I wish I had realized it when I was younger, but am glad I've had decades now to really enjoy his performances and films.
Sly is my favorite actor and I’ve loved every movie I’ve seen him in (almost seen every movie he’s done) Sly is smarter than people give him credit for. I also enjoy his reality show w/his wife and daughters (only Sly could get me to watch a reality show)
Coby has the most sincere, intuitive, and insightful reactions I've seen. She embodies the reason why we watch reactions: to share movie moments that we wish we didn't watch alone, like a beautiful sunset.
So glad you enjoyed these movies. You can tell your reactions were genuine. Rocky 4 still is the only movie where in the movie theater, people were literally jumping out of their seats and cheering at the end. Great job Coby 🙂 Fun fact: Dolph Lundgren hit Stallone so hard during rehearsal that he put him in the hospital for several weeks.
1:41:30 That is where Survivor got the idea for the song. They were tasked with coming up for a song for the movie but were having trouble with concepts that would work for this movie. So Stallone agreed to let them watch a rough cut of the movie. When they heard Creed say "You had the eye of the tiger" that is when they knew what they were about to do.
Yes, the dog in Rocky is the same dog Stallone had to sell when he was poor. He bought him back when he had money.
Sly also kept those turtles
Rocky is a love story. Great series through the first 4 movies
I'm not saying the series doesn't go downhill after 4. . ... but even the Creed movies are worth watching.
47:23 Fun Fact: The singer in the centre (lead singer) is Frank Stallone, Sly's brother, who later co-starred in the Stallone directed "Staying Alive" the sequel to "Saturday Night Fever."
@1:39 Allegedly Mr. T took his mother to see this in the theatre and during the scene where he is making the provocative comments to Adrienne, she said, "I didn't raise you to behave like that" and walked out of the theatre. He had to go after her and explain it was just for his role in the movie.
Yes and “I pity the fool” started here and Sly let him keep it as his catch phrase and he used it in A-Team. Mr. T is actually a very sweet man
I love how you keep calling Mr. T.......Ice Tea. LMAO
She mixed him up with Ice-T the rapper turned actor from Law & Order SVU.
@@BrotherDerrick3X No shit
"I pity the fool" started here, but Mr. T adopted it as one of his catchphrases that he used in other things.
What's pretty funny,..is that at 1:37, Coby says that Clubber Lang has a Bad Attitude,..which is hilarious, because..."B.A." (Bad Attitude) Baracus, was his name on the A-Team.
This was FANTASTIC! Thanks so much Coby! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get us your reaction to Rocky V AND Rocky Balboa! Soooo worth it!!!! And Creed after those! You will LOVE THEM 💙💙
It's always frustrating when people don't understand why Clubber Lang is upset. Is he over the top and doing too much? Yes. But does he have every right to be angry? Absolutely. I guess this is where you need to know about heavyweight boxing during that time period and what Stallone is paying homage to. (He loved Mohammad Ali and the heavyweights of that era who Ali fought). There was an order to how a boxer got to be champ. You start in amateur. Then you fight for the Olympic team. Then you start as a pro unranked and you have to fight a number of years fighting higher ranking fighters until you are ranked high enough to be a contender. The champ was somewhat obligated to fight contenders ESPECIALLY the top ranked one. This is how the system worked and fighters only had a very short window in their primes and/or ranked as the number one contender. Clubber Lang did all the steps. He was the number one contender and had every right to expect to fight for the championship. But who is champ? Rocky, who didn't do ANY of the steps that the system setup for fighters to contend for the championship. This is also why he has animosity towards Apollo who orchestrated it all because he needed a quick replacement for a title defense match by the previous number one contender. Rocky was just supposed to be a fill in so that heavyweight fighting commission would be satisfied. Heavyweight champs were obligated to fight every few months in order to keep the belt. So here is Clubber sitting waiting after doing all the right things to have his shot and Rocky is sitting up there as the champ who should've never gotten a shot at the title in the first place and is NOT fulfilling his obligation to fight top contenders. Rocky doesn't know of course that his title defenses are hand-picked and NOT contenders of course but Clubber doesn't know that and that doesn't change anything if he did.
THAT is why Clubber is mad.
I made this analogy before that puts it in context. Imagine if you went to college for say marketing. You graduated and after years of working for different companies you worked your way up in the most popular marketing firm at the time. You are one of the most qualified on the top executive's team. You are the star and next in line to move into the Exec position when the spot opens. You hear that the Exec is retiring but the position is given to the temp that filled in to answer calls and take notes one day the Exec was not in the office. This temp takes over as Exec and ignores you and starts giving out projects and recognition to people under you. Wouldn't YOU be pissed off?
Burgess Meredith….kind of a legend 😊
thanks for a great time Coby! It so fun to watch you go through these.
Born and raised Philly chic. Really hope you watch Rocky Balboa and CREED. Ties them all together and you will love characters in Creed. First 2 are my favorite!!!
38:22 Fun fact: The guy ringing the bell is Stallone's father.
Surprised (prob shouldn’t knowing the kind of man Sly is) that he put his dad in the movie.
5:24 This is Stallone's dog Butkus. The same dog you were talking about a few minutes ago. The guy he sold it to is the guy you see in a few minutes sweeping the steps of the gym.
Thank you! This brought tears to my eyes. I haven’t seen such emotion since I watched these as a kid with my Grandma.
I don't see Rocky 6... called Balboa...I hour you watch all 6. The 6th one talky wraps up everything so great. Can't wait to set this. 😍
4 rounds - Rocky 1-4.
¿What?
Loving this. You're the first reactor that I've seen who's done the first 4 in one video. It is a love story...but I personally love how animated and appreciative you are for the fight scenes. I also love how the fighters...at least in the first 4 movies...kept getting stronger. Sly did some great writing/producing here. Love your looks and personality also btw.
The Ultimate male versus the Ultimate meatball…
Thunder Lips- Rocky III
Hulk Hogan 🤣🤣🤣
Ha! Ha! Ha!
Only thing missing from these experiences, watching your luminous reactions to these legendary movies, (of which, you make me feel like I'm discovering them for the first time all over again), is not being there on the couch with you, cheering along and tearing up in all the same places. Such a joy!
You're so fun and culture smart, Coby.
Don’t just stop at Rocky IV. Continue on regardless if there’s any negative comments. It’s all part of the journey and the life story of Rocky.
All the Rocky’s and the first 2 Creeds r great. I won’t watch Creeds 3
When you watch Rocky 4 it is also important to consider the state of the real world at the time. There was significant change happening in the world which made the Soviet Union very dangerous. A few years after that film we saw the Berlin Wall fall and also the break-up of the Soviet Union. What is sad for people who lived thru that time is that we are seeing the undoing of that progress today. Loved that you enjoyed these movies. They are special because they remind us we all can have the strength within if we keep getting up, find our courage in the face of our fears and doubts, and continue pressing forward.
Loved seeing your reactions for the first time! :)
Nice reaction, thank you for making it
Great video Coby👍. Glad you enjoyed the movie(s), catch you on the next one.
The emotional hook is the father/son dynamic between Rocky and Mick. At a glance, you think Mick takes away Rocky’s locker because he’s just a mean old bastard, but the crux is because he had to watch a once promising fighter cave in and settle into life as a goon for a mobster, the same people that chewed him up and threw him away 30 years earlier (boxing always had a dubious connection to organized crime). That’s what made the apartment scene where Rocky yelled “At least you had a prime!” more powerful. Yes, Mick did, and look where it got him. At that moment, after getting his frustration out, he realized Mick cared about him all along and getting kicked out of his locker was tough love.
at 1:28:31 When people say that " Wrestling is fake " what they mean is that the winner and loser are already decided and some of the spectacular jumps and throws are planned, both fighters work together to make the throw or slam down seem more spectacular.
But other than that the fallings are real, many of the hits connect , are real ... they do take damage... it's simply not a fight like an MMA or boxing where people really go after one another.
But there can be bad blood between some fighters so they will be more agressive with one another.
Fact is wrestlers are strong guys and they know how to fight ...its simply more of a show that a tactical real fight.

If a wrestler would fight for real they would not fight like they do for their show.
Can’t believe you did this marathon hope you had a good time😊 x
What a journey!!! Thanks for sharing ❤❤❤😂😂🎉🎉
You have to watch Rocky Balboa which is the last of the a Rocky series. It’s a great movie that wraps up the Rocky series perfectly
1:47:55 Mr. T (born Laurence Tureaud) is known for his roles as B. A. (Bad Attitude) Baracus in the 1980s television series "The A-Team". He is also known for his distinctive hairstyle inspired by Mandinka warriors in West Africa, his copious gold jewelry, his tough-guy persona and his catchphrase "I pity the fool!", first uttered as Clubber Lang in "Rocky III", then turned into a trademark used in slogans or titles, like the reality show "I Pity the Fool" in 2006.
Rocky III was my favorite. I bought a Clubber Lang Boxing Club Southside Chicago shirt. 🥊
1:31:24 Yeah, In 1980, Sylvester Stallone commissioned A. Thomas Schomberg to create the Statue of ROCKY for the movie "ROCKY III". Today, this iconic statue resides at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, adjacent to the famous ROCKY steps.
Aside from this, I remember Burt Young was in "Once Upon a Time in America" (probably not the movie you're thinking of), he also played Bobby Bacala Sr. in a few episodes of The Sopranos.
Those are just what I remember off the top of my head.
My dude. I love these movies. I'm ready for the next two and a half hours of this madness.
I’m so proud of you for recognizing Hulk Hogan!
Awwww I am so glad you like this iconic franchise .. it's so emotional and awesome . I've seen them so many times but I feel like I was watching it for the first time again with you .. I actually own the VHS box set 😂😂 that's how long they have been in my life 😂
Two turtles. No kid. Beverly Hills Cop was intended for Stallone. Murphy was a last minute choice after it just wasn't working out with Sly. Burt Young was 16-0 as a professional boxer. He was in Mickey Blue Eyes. Rocky had been seeing Adrian every day, it wasn't just a 10 minute date. Yes, Butkus was THE dog. No, it wasn't three rounds. Creed had said he'd drop Rocky in the 3rd round. The commentators were doubting Rocky was even going to last til then. Back then it was 15 rounds. You can be in a coma without being on life support. The crowd was so into the second fight someone yells out, " We love ya Rock." Sly replies that he loves "yous too." That exchange was not scripted. It just fit and they kept it in. Nice leopard print. Very Shania Twain-ish. He would have no problem fighting Ice T. 😅 Mr T's "pity the fool" is his trademark like Arnold's "I'll be back." How many times can we watch a similar story? Well, Deadliest Catch is on season 20. Ever seen Swamp People? Same thing every week. Nielsen met Stallone by sending him bikini pics....before she ever had a movie role. She's quick to talk about how bad it was being married to him, but she got her fame while she was with him. Dolph got started as a bodyguard for Grace Jones. He got started in Rocky and has been in some other movies, including The Expendables and Universal Soldier. Lundgren is also a chemical engineer and was studying at MIT when he decided to pursue acting. The Apollo fight was supposed to be an exhibition fight, not full bore (like a sparring match). James Brown got a top 40 hit out of Rocky IV. Its especially hard watching these films right now seeing Carl scream, "There is no tomorrow!" And then Creed dying. R.I.P. Carl Weathers. The Creed movies are Apollo's son. Stallone told Lundgren to hit him as hard as he could. Stallone spent a few days in ICU as a result. It was neat the way they played Rocky's speech in IV with the political changes going on at the time. Even Stallone said V sucked, but you're invested. The finale with Rocky Balboa was good, and Stallone said it was how he wanted to wrap the franchise.
Thought on seeing the thumbnail: Go Coby! Go Coby! Let's Go Coby! Let's Go Coby!
Another TAXI DRIVER connection..Joe Spinell who plays the mobster that rocky collects for also plays the guy at the taxi garage who hires Travis Bickel (DeNiro) for the job..he also plays Willi Cicci in Godfather I &II
There's a persistent urban legend that Stallone has owned the turtles for decades. In 2017, the Philly Inquirer interviewed Joseph Marks, the former owner of J&M Tropical Fish, reporting that Marks 'still owns the turtles, Cuff and Link, that Rocky bought at the fictional Adrian's pet shop in the film' (Article title: 'Owner of razed Kensington pet store recalls when Rocky came calling', published April 21, 2017).
The Rocky story as you now know, is not a boxing movie, it’s a love story.
It really is. ... a romance.
It's a "Boxing Movie" and an "Underdog Story" ... but "Rocky likes Adrian, and maybe she likes him back." ...
What a great way to start off the weekend 4 rounds of ROCKY with Coby ! 🥊
great series to watch even if they are predictable it can be inspiring if you feel a little down and need a boost
and a boost is what i got now i'm ready to run up those stairs . lol!
Cheers for this Coby
have a wonderful weekend !!😃 ♥
Rewatching these clips got me all up in my feelings too! Glad Colby enjoyed them as much as I did when I first saw them!
on a little sidenote. when making rocky 4 Dolf actully sent Stallone to the hospital after they had shot a scene were Stallone told him to to hit him hard. Stallone talks about this in an interview.
And yes Dolf is a real actor, he has made several movies and he has a black belt in karate and speaks five languages. And the cherry on top is that he has a chemical engineering degree wich he got from Royal Institute of Technology (BSc), University of Sydney (MSc) and Washington State University. and yeah he is really tall, he´s 6.4 (196cm)
so yeah i would call him an accomplished man
i really enjoyed this. thank you for sharing it.
now i need to see your reactions to star wars
R.I.P To Some Of The Actor's Who We're In All These Movie's, Still Miss You All
Always a pleasure to see Coby react 😊
When my mom saw Rocky II in theaters, she cried when Rocky yelled “YO ADRIAN! I DID IT!!!”
Now, watch Sylvester Stallone again in Rambo series. It's totally worth it 👌.
I really enjoyed this vid ! 👌
Love her reactions! Coby's the true legend! She knocks down all the competition 🤩😀
Dolph Lundgren is an actor, although Rocky IV is what made him a well known actor (it was his 2nd role). He's had tons of movies after IV though (The Punisher, I Come In Peace/Dark Angel, Universal Soldier, Master of the Universe, etc).
Hes also very smart , has a masters degree in chemical engineering and gave up his full scholarship at MIT to pursue acting.
Coby boxing with her dog after watching 3 Rocky movies lol -- great reaction vid
Every time she says "Pity the fool, I burst out laughing
The actor who played MICKEY , was also in an episode of The Twilight Zone. And he also played The Penguin in the BATMAN TV show.
I like this format. It's long, but seeing the cumulative effect of watching the series is somehow...cathartic. Definitely satisfying.
As a kid growing up in the '80s during the Cold War....Rocky 4 was always my favorite. But watching them later (and now), 1-4 are all great movies.
The cameraman in the meat locker interview was director John Avildsen, who won an Oscar.
@vincentsai6545 John . G Avildsen won the Oscar for directing the first Rocky and he also directed the KARATE KID trilogy among quite a few other good films as well.
There's a very good documentary on him called King of The Underdogs check it out .
@@harveylee51 Thanks. I will.
This is the first movie of the franchise that you be hooked on. They get even better with #2 and #3. Carl Weather’s even acknowledged and commented on one of my tweets of 3Cellos’ “Eye of the Tiger” video.
One Of The Best Reactions On You Tube...Nice!!
Glad you watched these over more than one session. It would be tough to get through all 4 even though I love 'em
I love your takes on the move and you're fun to listen to on points of reaction. But it was really rough to enjoy you trying to predict everything around every corner because you know scenes and lines from different movies....I was gonna to go over there and shush you if I heard one more time when does"eye of the tiger" play. Lol
Rocky defeats Clubber by using "rope-a-dope," a "bait-and-switch" strategy made famous by Muhammad Ali in his legendary 1974 fight against George Foreman. You pretend to be vulnerable, luring your opponent in so that they expend their energy throwing punches that you block or dodge, gradually tiring themselves out.
Although Mr. T did use his iconic phrase numerous times on the A-team, Rocky III was the first time.
Dolph Lundgren started out as an engineering student who got a Fullbright scholarship to MIT after graduating and getting his masters degree in Chemical Engineering from Washington State University. He was also the European full contact Karate champion from 81-82. He was bouncing in a club and met model Grace Jones, who then got him signed with the Zoli Modeling agency & he began taking acting classes and he moved to NY. He has been in over 80 movies including Universal Soldier with Jean Claude Van Damme.
As an old school wrestling fan, watching Coby react to the Rocky films makes me appreciate their knack at kayfabe and selling.
Mustache guy is artist Leroy Neiman. Famous for his paintings depicting athletes. Some of his paintings go for 100,000 to 200,000 thousand dollars.
“If I can’t break your spirit, I for sure will break your back!” - Hogan
I wonder if ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ had an homage scene from Rocky 3?
Bane says something like “I wonder what will break first? Your spirit or your back?”
Bane is Famous for being "The Bat Breaker" ...
I think I figured it up one night... Rocky IV is like 41% montage clips. I find it humorous now, but it's still a great movie. It was fun watching you become a Rocky fan!
I love ur reaction Beautiful pretty lady ♥️♥️ Rocky movies are one of the best boxing 🥊🥊💪 movies ever and the Creed Movies 🍿🎥
1:47:23
I believe that this ending montage was when Rocky and Apollo went from rivals who respected one another to genuine friends. Apollo enjoyed being exposed to the rediscovered heart and intestinal fortitude of Rocky as much as Rocky appreciated Apollo for training him and helping him (along with Adrian) overcome his depression and guilt.
I think Rocky 3 is the best in the franchise. It's got the most compelling, scary antagonist, the best fortune reversal and training story, best fight and certainly the best heart-to-heart scene between Rocky and Adrian.
It was hard initially for Rocky to get up the stairs because it was at the end of probably a 4 or 5 mile run, and it was his first run.
Weird Al...... 🎶 Livin' with a hernia!... Ooowww!!! I feel bad!! 🎶😆😆😆
Never dawned on me Rocky feeding his lil pets at beginning of Rocky.... he likes Adrian, she works at pet store, get it!!! Lol 😮
Coby would do great watching Burgess in Grumpy Old Men and its great sequel Grumpier Old Men!
Love this reaction! Cheers!
On Rocky 2, the guys singing around the fire barrel, the guy in the middle is Frank Stallone, Sly’s younger brother.
Ivan Drago's "If he dies, he dies" line has to be a top 5 of all times of movie lines.
Coby, this quadruple header of 4 rounds with *ROCKY* was absolutely The Eye Of The Tiger!
Rocky was probably hugging Creed at the end because they were so exhausted so tired yeah
I love how invested Cobe was into Rocky winning in Rocky IV even without the added nationalistic passion that the movie was made for at the time of the Cold War
The kids ran up the stairs, because they were kids, and on Sugar! Lol😂
At the end of Rocky 1, Apollo was basically saved by the bell.
The running up the stairs is the finish line for how far he had come from when he trained the first time and could hardly breathe nor walk good once he got there. So thats the end point of finally being ready.
The beautiful thing about these movies is the underlying love Stallone has for women. Adrian wins every fight too....because she is fueling Rocky's heart
C'mon.......Go The Distance! V and Balboa are required.
What about Creed?
