excellent video Stu. I've watched the fiberglass ones several times now. Learn something new every time. The sound is perfect. I may decide to do the same on the RV7 (under construction). I installed the one from Van's but not happy with the fit on one side around the leading edge.

Personally I countersunk the fiberglass to admit #6 screws, and it works well . Very good job Sir !

You’ll see that on the next video. All attach points are countersunk for tinnerman washers and #6 screws

No need to sacrifice scissors every time! Wear like 3 layers of gloves, and when you are done cutting with the scissors, pop off one pair of gloves, exposing a clean pair, then you can give the scissors a nice wet alcohol wipe down! Even some wet ones baby wipes work, but I prefer alcohol and paper towels..

Sounds like a plan. Our local hardware store typically sells 3 pack for $5

Stu's Aircraft Factory that’s pretty cheap, harbor freight scissors here are like 65 cents and they work awesome! But that’s not the point. I’ve seen professional guys reusing popsicle sticks! Quick wipe with alcohol, let them dry and they are good to go. Actually better than new because the epoxy seals them and you don’t get wood fibers. Love your videos, I share them to all my friends!

Very helpful info. Please advise where did you purchase the carbon fiber and which weight? Really appreciate the education! Thanks

I use the twill weave from aircraft spruce - part # 01-00602. Its 5.7 ounce weight per yard. Twill works better around curved surfaces or if not using vacuum bagging. Twill is more loosely wound then standard carbon fibre which is why I lay it up dry

Audio sounds fine to me. I just appreciate the time and effort you put into sharing and making your videos. It’s hard enough for me to find time to build in the winter let alone documenting and making a video on top of that. Thanks again for sharing. -Mike RV8 builder in Ohio

How are you protecting the fuse from drips of epoxy? I’ll be doing this on my rv4 that is painted.

I tape off the area around the emp fairing. The peel ply added at the end helps a lot with mess

What type of aluminum tape you usi g? I feel like the HVAC tape I've got will be very difficult to peel off if it touches the aluminum skin/paint on the plane.

@@rallyit671 Yes I use similar and it can be hard to peel off. Really only need it on the foam however to give it some rigidity. Could use clear take at overlap if that works better for you.
