Michelle Pfeiffer literally brought this character to life. No one captured the very essence of the comic book character like she did. No one will ever top her.
A revelation. I watch her scenes and pick out all of the choices she makes as an actress within the space of one line. Her career best role.
HipsterBlood how can she be the essence of the comic book character if she’s totally different from the Catwoman of the comics?
@@rosaria6363 Facts! I prefer the comics and animated characters over the live-actions ones, in my opinion they can NEVER get Catwoman right. She's an orphan on the streets not a lowly assistant with a Karen as a mother.
Bruce has managed to “top her”. 😆
100% agreeeeeeee
Danny DeVito as The Penguin = perfect casting
@Mutaz Muhanad Hammad opinion
@Mutaz Muhanad Hammad Robin Lord Taylor was a Danny DeVito light at best.
Yes, I AGREE!!!
I always tought DeVito overacted his role. Same think for Michelle Pfeiffer, but in a lesser degree.
Actually, this whole film is kinda overacted.
Kualla Lumpur that was the nature of this whole film series, they were all over the top, was just the direction taken
The scream at the end… gives me chills. It compares to no other Catwoman portrayal before or since.
It is pretty ballz to the wall.
This movie looks so freaking gorgeous! The cinematography is so beautiful!!!
I agree
True
Exactly. This is a masterclass in how to effectively film a dark movie. The audience can still see the details. Moreover, each frame is straight out of a comic book. Pure art.
Have you never seen it? It’s great
Michelle Pfeiffer is still the best Catwoman. Perfect casting
Anne Hathaway: Am I a joke to you?
@@HBarnill Julie Newmar: Am I a joke to you?
Absolutely. None of the others gave the masterful, multi-layered performance she did. If this movie was released today, it likely would've still flopped, but she'd walk away with an Oscar all the same. Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman is the most timeless thing about the film and the reason why it's still worth watching.

Not even close of being the best line ever.
She wouldnt scratch penguin but she claws batmans face at the end when she rejects him after telling him she would love to live with him in his castle and punishes him for unmasking and declaring his love
It is the best Catwoman hands down. To this day no one came close to her sassyness, playfulness, seriousness, and just plain seductive feline nature.
Zoe was incredible too and i can’t wait to see more of her
And she beats batman when fighting in front of the princess..she lands way more hits and he only blocks one and when he headbutts her she recovers right away and pulls his ears down and gives it a second with a look and then brutally knees his face and it hurts him he even screams and falls back..then she hits him with a chair and takes the princess away...I think she was making lose focus or maybe he held back but she did get the better of him at times..I never noticed as a kid that she defeats him..she literally takes the princess off him after he was saving her and even taunts him about failing to save her
The elegance yet power in Keaton's voice for the Bat. Also love how he keeps it effectively loud and lively when he plays Bruce. 🍷
👍👍👍👍👍
Any random five minutes of this movie has more sheer creativity than most directors’ whole filmographies
😱
@@BonBon-od9zm It's true!

Yeah
Yes and what’s also impressive on top of the top-notch actors and director (and music composer) is that they had so much less to work with in terms of special effects. Looking back at it in 2021, we watch it for the performance, and it’s still extremely entertaining. Imagine if they had Marvel effects and money to go with it. Although, a part of me thinks that this is best the way it was. Fewer distractions from the amazing actors. I honestly never saw any actor surpass Michelle Pfeiffer in a comic 2 film. The only one who comes close to her level is Cate Blanchett for Hela. Gal Gadot was also impressive to me in WW1 but WW2 kinda set her back in my mind. Gadot is very one-note compared to Michelle though. Michelle’s range is just amazing.
@@twnyc3129
Impressive. Most impressive
Michelle Pfeiffer is such a talent. Even with a mask you can see on her face Catwoman's regret. She wanted revenge against Max Shreck for killing her and being a criminal who exploited people. She had nothing against the Ice Princess or the people of Gotham. She feels anguish, guilt, and disgust.
Yeah😔
She doesn’t like men who hurt women you can tell.
"you lousy minx, i oughta have you spayed, you gave out all the signals!" and her face after that line. it gets me every time. this is a film about feminine power and the suppression/fear of that power.@@bwenjones670
She feels like she caused it because after she beat batman when he was saving the princess she took her off him and it led to her death and that wasn't what she wanted
The best Batman movie. My personal favorite.

Best movie and also best OST by far. The dark melancholy and whimsy gives it a macabre fairy tale feel which not a lot of movies can capture.

The greatest Batman and Catwoman ever in Michael Keaton and Michelle Pfeiffer in an all time classic movie. I love watching this movie since I was 10 years old when it first came out, especially this scene when fighting at each other but with great chemistry like a love/hate relationship between these two, but also love the part when Catwoman kiss licked Batman on top of him under the mistletoe. After all these years later, I still enjoy watching this movie and probably my favorite Batman movie of all time along with the first Batman movie with Jack Nicholson as the Joker and Kim Basinger aka Vicki Vale.

As an 80s baby that witnessed this as as a child, I can say as an adult I appreciate it even more 🥰 #timburtonvibes
This was the movie that made me fall in love with Batman, I remember the astonishment of the 7 year old me, watching this in the movie house. The signature Burton goth, the hypnotic Danny Elfman score and the iconic performances were more than enough to sweep the young me.
These two movies old up really well. What makes them stand out is the sets themselves where all built from scratch giving the city a comic book style look.
I love the fact that Michelle’s Catwoman and Halle’s Catwoman had powers. Gave them an edge
Both probably exist in the same universe. In the Catwoman movie, you can see a photo of Michelle among the different "Catwomans" that existed throughout history and Halle's character is not Selina Kyle.
Plus both Catwoman have a very similar rebirth.
@@quiver5756 Agreed. People don't like to admit this, but Returns and Catwoman are canon.
Michelle’s Catwoman’s flexibility isn’t exactly powers because they fall into the parameters of what a trained human can do. There is nothing supernatural about the extent that her movements can go. Her getting the ability was supernatural though as well as her 9 lives thing. But they kept her as bare as possible bc Catwoman is not supposed to have a supernatural advantage, which is part of her appeal (just like Batman). In the comics, she doesn’t have 9 lives but she does have an affinity with cats. They naturally like her. I don’t want Catwoman to have powers like Halle’s did with the senses bc it becomes a cheat. Catwoman is supposed to be human in the comics just like Batman and his Bat family.
@@twnyc3129 I think what they meant was Selena didn’t have those flexibility moves and gracefulness before Max “killed” her. Plus, her 9 lives power could be psychological. Each “death” actually could be argued as non fatal. when max pushed her out the window all the awnings she went through broke her fall a bit making her landing non fatal, same as when Batman knocked her off she landed in kitty litter. And here she landed on a bunch of plants (again can be argued not fatal) then Max shot her four times but they weren’t fatal places. In her shoulders, sides or legs, plus by that point she was pretty much gone mentally.

BEST CATWOMAN EVER
I saw it in the cinema when I was 7 years old and it impacted me, due to its atmosphere, its soundtrack, its performances, its sets, its characters and its unreal and parallel universe, it was pure fantastic cinema, it had me so obsessed that I watched it over and over again once on vhs, and every time I saw it I was lost in another dimension, I was immersed in that retro and menacing Gotham, and it happens to me every time I see it again on DVD and Blu-Ray. This wonderful film has a great meaning for me, I am a great unconditional fan of Batman and Tim Burton, both of them are my heroes.
