I didn't watch any movie including her before this one (I was six at the time).
Later I watched Pulp Fiction, The Avengers UK (I liked her suit and a proto Black Widow), My Super Ex-Girlfriend and scenes from Kill Bill to learn about her real voice.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Uma Thurman seems to be the only person in the cast who realized that the movie was a campy trash fire and said “You know what? I’m going to roll with this.” Yes, she’s completely over the top and hammy, but it works because the WHOLE MOVIE is over the top and hammy. Everyone else tries to get serious moments, but Thurman is clearly just eating the heck out of the scenery and enjoying every minute of it. One of my favorite film performances! :D

Him going from wearing slippers and forcing his minions to learn the Snow Miser song to staring at his beautiful, frozen bride and crying icy tears just doesn't work. Uma Thurman doesn't have that problem, because even her "serious" plot is silly. So she just gets to go whole hog with the ham. :p

2:15 the moment she dropped that gorilla suit. I fell right out of my seat and dropped my popcorn, when I saw this movie when I was 10. My mom laughed.
Even if the movie has major weaknesses, it’s undeniable that this scene hypnotizes the viewer: the music, the costumes and Uma Thurman’s charm instantly melt away. It’s this hypnosis (02:02) that makes this moment so great.

Say what you want about this film but the costumes on this set were badass. Everyone had great costumes especially Poison Ivy. Shout out to costume designers they were incredible.

I'm just happy she's not green-skinned. Those eye appliques were an absolutely brilliant variation on the standard domino mask worn by both heroes and villains. The Riddler....even Robin and Batgirl in this film.

There are only two good things about this movie: Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy, and Chris O'Donnell in his Robin suit. Her slow walk up to the stage and then just, "Hi there." May be my favorite moment in this whole disaster of a movie. She's so good.

Actually let me back up a bit to acknowledge that there are a bunch of young whipper-snappers who didn't grow up watching 90s TV nowadays. So if you're too young to recall this, then yeah, George Clooney was the "Dr McDreamy" of his day and he and the show were BFD.

And since Clooney was the "hunky one" of the show, he became a riding star if the show. His "playboy" reputation only enhanced his media presence.
At the time, as big as superhero movies were, there was a believe that they couldn't "sell" themselves and needed big star power to be hits. A handsome well-liked star (who in fact had proven himself "leading man material" in the successful From Dusk Till Dawn series) was thought to be just the ticket.

With everything bid they were 'kinda' getting more and more aggressive so she teases them by asking whether they were going to start fighting physically to get laid by her. 2) the fact that the gorilla suit's eyes are those doll's eyes that stay in position when the head moves, so it looks like it's looking right at the camera as she starts her little dance
3) the fact that the song is an instrumental version of a 70s song called poison ivy!!!
4) let's just be honest, uma thurman has never ever looked better. whatever else, that 2:15 reveal deserves the audience gasp it got

Watching this as an adult, I noticed something that I don't think anyone else has pointed out. At 1:58 you can clearly hear the guitar riff from the classic song Poison Ivy by The Coasters, followed by a slowed down, funky orchestral version of the song. Ever since I first heard it, I've always wondered why that wasn't Poison Ivy's theme song. Lo and behold, it always has been.

This look is based on her debut comic book appearance in 1966. The flower crown, the tights with vine stitching and leaf embellishments. This scene mirrors her debut in that comic book. She crashes a zany party that features other costume-themed women. The animated series was more of a noir, old-school femme fatale version of it.

I loved this movie as a kid, and saw it one more time yesterday at 34. Bro, it's really good. The "Mr Freeze" of Schwarzenegger and the Poison Ivy of Uma Thurman are really good. I will never understand why so many peoples did not like it. For the time, in 97, it was really nice, better than "Batman Forever" which is i assume totally stupid and shit.

I actually really enjoyed Batman & Robin. It felt like it watching an actual comic book story in live action. Every other superhero movie is enjoyable to me for their realism, but I like this one for its comic style pace.

@@CHANN3L_NAME To be fair George was responsible for the cringy dialogue in the prequel trilogy so the actors didn't really have much to work with. George Lucas's wife helped him a lot in this department with the OT, but they got divorced and so George didn't have anyone around to help out in this area anymore by the time he got around to the prequels, and the other people that were around him were all "yes" men.
Okay this is a garbage movie, but uma Thurman revealing herself as poison ivy for the first time to a crowd is OSCAR WORTHY
