I definitely wouldn't beat yourself up about not doing certain sections - happens all the time with me and I'll bet ye clear it next time. Another great video of another great riding spot. Re the anxiety, I actually see it as an instrinsic part of the sport for me and often keeps me safe. It protects me from getting over-confident and hurting myself. Yes, sometimes it plays with your head and stops you attempting what you know you can do but this head vs body contest is what I find a big part of the challenge of the sport. Plus the joy is big when your body wins out and shows your head you really can ride that section.
Great edit again Jamie. I've been riding Dunkeld for years and it's a gnarly spot, quite different from the tweed valley. Wouldn't beat yourself up about that tech section you walked. It's such a tricky section.

@@streetpigeonmtb your welcome mate. Yeah the postal team has been out! Tree and storm doging for sure. We 'll wait to the storms and stuff pass and sort something out . 👍
Nice one Jamie, another great edit. I’m similar with the anxiety, sometimes I can start off bad and just lose confidence for that day, mostly only if I’m on a solo ride I’ll look at stuff I’ve hit before and second guess myself, usually fine in groups. Your vids always get me pumped to ride, smashing it dude 👊

Awesome video dude! Thanks also for sharing your issues with anxiety, I totally get this too! I'm sure most people do. I've only been riding trails for a few months and had a couple of scary falls on Glencoe in December. It's difficult to shake the fear!
Jees man! I do not blame you. I haven't brought myself to ride Glencoe yet. It is a really formidable place and I have nothing but respect for you for giving it a go. Thanks for taking time to comment mate.
Brilliant video. Great to watch both yours and Mctrail riders version. Two great riders and two top video makers. Good of you to be so honest about your anxiety. I think we all suffer that sometimes. I certainly do and my fear kicks in at a lot lower level of skill than yours Brilliant work again 👍
Cheers Rhett. Pleased you managed to see both vids. I think you are right about the anxiety. I guess we all have our moments! Hope you are all good mate 👍
Some good riding there Jamie for sure and you are certainly not alone when it comes to trail anxiety.. it gets me more often than it should leaving me annoyed with myself also but when you know you know.. look forward to seeing your next visit to Dunkeld where you fly over that section without giving it a thought 🤙
Funnily enough I did this trail about a year ago, had the same loss of belief at more or less the same point after a stall! One of the boys had a nasty off on the boulders nr the end and I was a tree magnet. Then pretty much fell on to the road at the end. One for "summer" i reckon 😂
Missed loads this one too! Hopefully the YT algorithm will put you back on our feeds bit more. Dunkeld is the business - if you really want to test your nerve, there’s always the DH Upper…..
Twa Dugs is a great trail, with surprising features, particularly in the wet. Not done Rocky Balboa, but Yer Maw, Yer Maws Erse, and Bobby's Baws have their moments. Precious also a great trail - toughest trail on the Atholl side. You done the Mast? Rudder etc - totally different vibe over there.
@@streetpigeonmtb Best trail-forks review ever: " Like getting your teeth smashed out? Then this is the trail for you. Very rocky, bring your A-game and plenty of suspension travel. MUCH harder than the middle and lower DH sections."
Congrats! I stayed to the end. Which I have done a few times with your vlogs and stored a few trails, thank you. Now, anxiety that is really brain braking (not breaking), too much going on and the brain shuts you down. No big deal shows your safety net is working. Gnarly is a type of root, not the smooth slippery but lumpy and bumpy we direct trails to gnarly to slow you down and protect trees (yep, seasoned trail builder) water is best, gnarly close second. I have to try and work out how long, how far and how worth it from your vlog. Great if you could add in the information, whist riding, of course.
Hi mate. Thanks so much for getting in touch. If you managed a full vlog that's amazing. I realise a lot of people just tune in for a few minutes but I always try and edit them so that they are watchable for a bit longer! My brain defo shut me down on the last few trails. I'd like to get back there and hit them fresh! Sorry I didn't manage to get the trail info. On some vlogs, where I know the place well, I break the vlog into chapters. That way folks can at least know the trail names and check out the data for the trail. I post all my rides on my Strava so that might help you. Thanks again for taking time to comment 👍
Jamie, everyone experiences the experience of declining to do a feature. I've even seen a vid where Lewis Buchanan pushes down of section of trail. Don't frett it's called self preservation 🤙great vid. Watched Andy's as well. Nice contrast.
Thanks Gordon. You are right bud. I'm pleased you enjoyed both the vids. Looking forward to hitting the trails again after a quiet weekend for me. Did you get out?
@@streetpigeonmtb nope, rear brake lever (XT) given up the ghost. Bike is only 10 months old! Non in stock so had to search interweb to find one, at my own cost. Dire service from Shimano. Spoke to Andy about his experiences and I'm now thinking of changing to hope, unless Shimano give me a refund. Out next weekend hopefully.
Again another great vid mate. Seems that you could ride every day for a month a still not scratch the surface of what Scotland has to offer trail wise. Seriously breathtaking scenery too. As for the anxiety, no shame there mate! Trails/features etc can easily get in our heads from time to time, plus the GoPro effect doesn't help show off how gnarly and steep some trails actually are. Easier said than done but you gotta put them to one side and say 'not today' and ride on! Gives you an excuse to go back as smash it though eh? Good riding pal. ✌🏻
Thanks mate. Yup, you've summed up a lot of my thoughts perfectly. An incredible country. No doubt there may well be a lifetime of trails in this place. And fear is defintely real, but something we can recover from. I'll defo be back there to nail that trail 🤙
Thanks Julia. It's a tough one eh? I seem to get it in new places and/or when I'm tired. It's so frustrating! Doubly annoying as I was actually riding fairly well. Never mind, I'll be back. Thanks for the positivity mate 😁😁😁
Watched Andrew’s video last week and you were flying, looking really good mate 🔥 . Respect for keeping the trail anxiety in 👍, I know the feeling, super annoying when it happens, particularly at trail features you’ve ridden before. I reckon sometimes your brain is still melted from a heavy week in work or a bad nights sleep and feels it can’t continue to process the incoming trail fast enough so just goes into standby mode for self preservation 🤔😂. Doesn’t make it any less annoying though. On the up side, nothing bad happened and lots of fun was still had 🤘😀
Thanks Marcus. The computing analogy is really good! It's funny you should say that as I was just speaking to someone and saying how the anxiety always seems to hit me when I'm generally tired or at the end of a day. It makes sense! Glad you enjoyed both the vids. It was a really top day. Hope you are having a good week. Riding isn't looking good for the next few days at least with these storms 😔
@@streetpigeonmtb yeah, I reckon MTB is pretty intense on the old brain and it can only handle so much until it needs a reboot! In theory the storm will have passed Ireland by the weekend so we should be able to get out, just might be a little wet and muddy 😃. Hope you have a good weekend too and that the weather isn’t too bad for you.
Thanks Stuart. I was just frustrated dude, didn't want to hold Andrew's riding up. It's a blinding place. Need to get back there and chase those demons away!
Not ridden at dunkeld in around 10 years even then it was only the DH course which i could only describe as being like glencoe with added trees and roots literally the sketchiest course ive ridden it made the nevis range wc downhill seem easy in comparison 😃
Ha ha! That sounds brutal my friend. Most of the trails we rode out felt pretty blown out. I don't know if that is through wear or by design, but either way they are pretty challenging. Looking forward to getting back there!
@@streetpigeonmtb The DH course was pretty similar massive ruts in sections with alot of wheel swallowing holes just waiting for the unsuspecting rider to find... I can fully sympathise with getting the fear recently had my first kind of proper ride back after my lung had healed and it hit me real bad on careless whisper. Normally id fly down it without not to much thought but being off the bike for so long mixed with fear of crashing and breaking myself again only led to the fear kicking in and it coming true to an extent, decked it twice on two silly bits but after that i was done for the day mentally :/.
Aw man. That's a tough return. Hope you are getting out and the recovery is going OK. You'll get to where you want to be I'm sure. Good luck and positive vibes to you 👍

Your a great rider and in the video right at the end on the steep chute when you didn't have time to stop or slow down and think about it you just rode it out which shows how good a rider you are! People will take stock and get confidence themselves from that. Looking forward to sorting out our well over due trip to Perth! Well done to you and @McTrail Rider , respect dudes!
Cheers Franco. I love how you always bring the positive comments! I'm really looking forward to finally getting a Perth ride sorted. It'll be an awesome day I have no doubt. Hope you and the lads are all good and managing a fair bit of storm dodging on the bikes! I can't wait until these storms end 🙌
Thanks mate. It sounds like you can deal with it. I'm similar. When it happens I know I just need to move on and it'll be fine the next ride. I struggle to get it back on the day though. Cheers for all the comments mate. It's super kind of you 👍
Awesome video dude!
I certainly do and my fear kicks in at a lot lower level of skill than yours
Brilliant work again 👍
Cheers Rhett. Pleased you managed to see both vids. I think you are right about the anxiety. I guess we all have our moments! Hope you are all good mate 👍
Some good riding there Jamie for sure and you are certainly not alone when it comes to trail anxiety.. it gets me more often than it should leaving me annoyed with myself also but when you know you know.. look forward to seeing your next visit to Dunkeld where you fly over that section without giving it a thought 🤙
Thanks Andy! It's so frustrating but I can live with it. I'm pretty good at getting there eventually so I will be back there! Hope you are good bud 👍
The DnB intros always make for an epic start to a video 😂
Hell yeah! Love me a bit of d n b 🤙
Funnily enough I did this trail about a year ago, had the same loss of belief at more or less the same point after a stall! One of the boys had a nasty off on the boulders nr the end and I was a tree magnet. Then pretty much fell on to the road at the end. One for "summer" i reckon 😂
Glad to know I'm not the only one to have a moment! Hope your buddy was OK. Deffo for the summer I think 👌
Awesome dude n glad u decided carry on. Great ridin bruv. N sik trails dude. Hope u get it next visit dude 😍
Thanks bud. I'll get it at dome point!
Missed loads this one too! Hopefully the YT algorithm will put you back on our feeds bit more. Dunkeld is the business - if you really want to test your nerve, there’s always the DH Upper…..
Hopefully 🤞🤞🤞 I've only done the DH lower 🙈
@@DrFaroon ha ha! That sounds crazy. I haven't been to the mast. It looks good although I always worry it'll be overgrown 🙈
Yes Mtb isn’t dead!
I subscribed to you and I do ride as well 😃
You are good and nice video!
Thank you. MTB is very much alive 🤙
Bike anxiety is so real, I wish we could pinpoint what causes it 😬 it was a fantastic video bud 👌
Cheers mate 👍
Nice video 👍. Are you planing a trip to Aberfoyle in the near future?
I need to get back there mate. Haven't got a date in mind yet but I'll defo be there in 2022 👍
We all get it m8 don’t beat ur self up dunked is a great place so many trails of all kinds
Thanks Stuart. I was just frustrated dude, didn't want to hold Andrew's riding up. It's a blinding place. Need to get back there and chase those demons away!
@@streetpigeonmtb yeah I came off at fort bill pop my shoulder out can’t wait to get back up and smash it ur a fantastic rider
Cheers bud! I hope you get back there and smash the trail. It'll be so good to put the bad times behind you 👍
Not ridden at dunkeld in around 10 years even then it was only the DH course which i could only describe as being like glencoe with added trees and roots literally the sketchiest course ive ridden it made the nevis range wc downhill seem easy in comparison 😃
Good luck and positive vibes to you 👍
@@streetpigeonmtb I'm all good just had a bad day thats all :) Recovery is going well just taking things easy looking forward to the longer days and drier trails :)
What is that final trail? I'd like to see how scared I get trying it
I'm not sure. I've tried finding it for you. It could be 'Yer Maw'. Let me check Strava for you...
OK. On Strava it is called Rocky Balboa 👍
Got a couple of Dunkeld edits coming - did some of those features for the first time and TOTALLY understand where you are coming from! 💩😂
Cheers bud! Man, some of those wee features are sketch. They are so techy. I'll take my big-boy pants next time for sure! I'll look out for your edits bud 👍
on pink floyd the botton you should of went left
Cheers man. Yeah, I noticed that when I was doing the edit. Need to do it next time 👍
its a very cheeky rock section, also did you do the trail on the other side of the hill its mega@@streetpigeonmtb
