    Thanks for watching!
    What are your thoughts on this Shredder and his place in the lore?

      While he's definitely goofier than most Shredders in the multiverse, 87' Shredder has his cool moments. With that said, when does the Shredder's Revenge game take place? Or is that another timeline/universe?

    • @TheTurtleNexus
      @TheTurtleNexus  2 месяца назад +2

      @@johnnygyro2295 None of the 1987 video games are connected to the show. But if you had to place it somewhere it would be after season 7 (because of the Triceratons).

      Thanks for the quick reply. I was curious since Irma referenced a few episodes when you get her journals. That and the Technodrome being in disrepair. Either way, it's a fun game.

    This version of the Shredder was the first i've seen and it was always a pleasure watching him ploting his schemes. 😄

    Ironically, Shredder did also have a brother in the original Mirage Comics. Oroku Nagi was actually the one killed by Hamato Yoshi in the character's backstory in the very first issue. His brother, Oroku Saki, then sought revenge on Yoshi and became the Shedder. Pretty much every adaptation of the series simplified things by just combing Saki and Nagi into one single character.

      I think it’d be neat if there was some sort of story that focused on Shredder’s origins. Show us how he rose through the ranks of The Foot after he vowed vengeance on Hamato Yoshi, and maybe how a young and broken man became a cruel and brutal leader.

    My all-time favorite Shredder! Yeah, there are others with deeper story-lines and more skill, but none of them can match '87 Shredder in terms of personality! Awesome video, dude!

    I vividly remembered an episode where the shredder swooped in and solo'd all four turtles in a matter of seconds. He is a master martial artist, but only when the writers needed him to.

    Good video.
    The 1987 series (as well as Archie Comics) are the 2 versions of Shredder I first encountered.
    And the short version is, of course (he's a Saturday morning cartoon villain, so whatever he does, he can't win). Having said that, even in spite of that, he has many times defeated the turtles in battle and a few times came close to conquering the world.
    So under the circumstances quite a bit competent after all. And above all, the cartoon, games and comic books made him both famous and a legendary enemy of TMNT and Splinter. (Yes there are versions of the Shredder that are smarter, more evil, more powerful and serious as well as competent but again for many this was the first Shredder many encountered).

    19:43 I thought the second crossover 2012 one took place in season 3, that shows the Technodrome at the earth’s core.

      No, you can see them walking underground, like in the first season. But in any case, since it probably happened after Turtles Forever, it has to have happened after season 7.

    All kids TV shows lose popularity as the original audience becomes teenagers; we go from being able to watch TV to having much more homework and getting involved in either after school activities or part time jobs.

    Really looking at Shredder, and his motivations, I think he reminds me a lot of Joker from The Dark Knight. Not the chaotic aspect but rather what Joker described himself as, "A dog chasing cars." He wouldn't know what to do if he caught one, he just does things.

    Is the thumbnail from the Saturday Morning Adventures comics? I love that art style (having grown up on the 87 cartoon when it was fresh and new in the 80s/90s).

    Great video, but I think you missed a major, recent addition to the lore: TMNT: Shredder's Revenge! The Technodrome is wrecked and in Dimension X, and Shredder has made a new base there while also collecting Krang's lost android body. Seems like this is purposefully set after the cartoon series. It also introduces Karai to the 1987 cartoon 'verse and I love that!

    • @TheTurtleNexus
      @TheTurtleNexus  2 месяца назад

      I wouldn't mix it up with the canon until someone makes it official. Karai and Usagi were introduced as part of a multiverse plot, so they belong to their specific universes (that would be Karai 2003).

    There were some episodes where Shredder seemed to be attracted to April (including an episode where he tried to make her his queen.)

      I said in a different comment but Shredder having April and Irma in his harem shows he has great taste in women. I had a crush on both of them when I was younger. Irma is supposed to be nerdy but she's still drawn very pretty. April is a knock out.

    Saturday Morning Adventures hasn’t been stated to be non-canon to the show. So until that happens, it’s still canon.

    • @TheTurtleNexus
      @TheTurtleNexus  5 месяцев назад +1

      That's why I said that the comic uses the canon, but the show itself cannot make decisions anymore. It's like how the Ghostbusters comic was in canon and then one day it wasn't because they decided to continue the movies.

  • @DM006

    I'll say. Personally, since I was a child and watched the series (both the first and the second) I never liked Shredder. I preferred Krang.
    Maybe only the one from the 2003 series did I really like. But I think it depends on the fact that he appeared very little and seemed really threatening.
    Then I watched the 2012 series, and personally, I still consider him the worst. Precisely because he kept whining that he was the victim and wanted revenge on a matter where in the end it was all his fault.
    Then I'll leave the one from Rise alone.
    I wonder what the one from the sequel to Mutant Mayhem will be like? One thing is certain. I don't think it will be connected to Splinter.

      Yeah because the 2012 was just an entitled brat and the 2003 version was more like a horror movie monster before it was revealed that he was an Utrom

    What do ya'll think happened to the human Foot Clan members after Shreddar replaced them with robots? Do you think he just purged them or worse converted them into the android soldiers we see him commanding in the show?

    • @TheTurtleNexus

      I was under the impression (this is just speculation) that the human ninjas stayed in Japan (or simply left once Krang showed up). The last few that were left probably ended up in prison.

    This version of Shredder is nothing but a butt of joke villain, as this Shredder is WAY more Disney comical villain instead of being a dangerous and threatening villain.
    But, The Utrom Shredder is WAY more dangerous and threatening villain, who is not a comical villain. And you shouldn't underestimate him!

    This version of the Shredder was interesting, for its time at least, but today it seems a little outdated. It hasn't aged very well, like the rest of the TV series. A reboot brought up to date would be welcome.
