Just started hearing this noise today. All I could think was, here we go again. The noise is coming from the front of the engine. But at least I know what it is now.
@@gtapia6594 My mechanic bought it for me. He showed me the timing belt kit he bought and it was branded by a company called “Aisin”. Apparently they’re the campo y that makes timing belt kits for these cars
My 2008 Type-S just started doing this a few days ago. I added oil, thinking it was a knock inside the motor. I’m going to look into it more to see if it’s coming from the side like you say. I do have a question though.. If this is the cause of the knocking noise, how long could this particular car run/drive with it in this condition before something worse happens? Or, will it just continue making the noise for however long until the parts are replaced? I ask because I’m not sure when I’ll have time to take it to a shop, but I still need to get to work and stuff. 🫤 Any advice would help. Thanks!
There are many inferior aftermarket components. I would pay extra $ for OEM manufacturer (the OEM tensioner, I believe is Aisin made in Japan or USA; the majority of parts on the 3G TL's are made in the USA & Mexico).
The older style spring operated tensioners almost never go bad. I had a hydraulic tensioner fail on a K24A that ended up bending 3 valves and breaking a timing chain. I've seen a Koyo spring operated tensioner on a Honda D16 go over 200k and was still smooth when i replaced it.
Thank you for posting this. This is exactly what was wrong with my car. When I took it to pep boys they watched your video and told me I was wrong. Once they took the car apart. That was exactly what was wrong with car. I would have never known or who knows what they may have tried to sell me. Just wanted to say thank you.
Usually if you have gotten your timing belt and waterpump done this is usually discovered in the process, and replaced. Think its standard to replace it at that time no matter what. At your mileage You probably are ready for your second timing belt change. There is a chance that whoever did your timing belt and waterpump the first time didn't know to replace it and left the original on. Usually happens more in a garage setting than at a professional car place like the dealership or such.
Oh my gosh! This! I was beginning to fear my crank bearings were going. This is exactly the sound coming from my 3.2L TL. We replaced the timing belt tensioner just before this happened though. I'm mad; I think I was sold a faulty part.
Turned out to be a faulty hydraulic actuator. It was leaking fluid everywhere. Looked just like this. It's under warranty though, so I should get my money back
I just have to say thank you for the video. I live in Pennsylvania and since it started to get cold this noise has been getting worse. The noise was very slight two weeks ago then went on a thanksgiving road trip to NC and since then it has gotten worse which led me here. I have no power loss in the engine it the noise is pretty constant. When standing at the passenger side fender looking at the engine I could tell the noise was on the left side(firewall side) of the engine down towards the bottom. Now my problem is I purchased my 08 TL about 10 months ago and the previous owner left a box in the trunk with the old timing belt and water pump so I assume he had that replaced and the kit was a dayco kit with hydraulic tensioner. So I think my tensioner has taken a poop and time to replace. How hard is it to just get to the tensioner to remove? I am pretty handy and I have the skill set to swap an engine(I had to do one on my 92 integra) plus I do all of my own maintenance. Any tips you have. :D
people who swear by Aisin made in Japan say that Gates & Dayco water pump are bad news. Most likely, you have to remove the harmonic balancer from the crankshaft pulley to remove the bottom cover 😳 Some people simply cut an "access hole" in the cover... sounds like a nice shortcut!
Great video man 👍🏽 question do you think can I do it myself or is something I can mess up.? Because my car is doing the same noise is not that bad but is making it. But when heat up is fine again
Thanks guy!! I think my car is making same noise. My car makes that same light tapping noises at warm up. Gos away when warms up. Thought it was a loose valve or or rod knock.
My 2007 tl type s vibrates the whole car at idle in drive. It doesn’t make the sound in reverse only drive. The vibration rattles the dash and you can feel it in your seat. Could this be the tensioner ???
I had that noice a year ago. Two mechanics couldn’t figure out the problem. I had a misfire cylinder 5 a year ago too replacing the spark plug fixed the issue then… now again misfire in cylinder 5 dealership said spark plugs are ok, coils but and injector had to be replaced. I did it and also timing belt and tensioner but they said water pump was ok so no need to replace. Now light of the check in is on again…. They said valves need to be replaced the sound of the valves to me is kind similar to the sound of the belt in your video. I had too admite car sound better less taping noice than before… also they said a injectors cleaning should be done… car has been owned by me since 110,000 now is 171,000 I keep driving I have spend at the moment a good amount of money.. so I am just holding a few weeks and decide what’s the best to do. I took the car 3 hours away and came back with no issue. Light is steady but in the morning with a cold start, starts to bling and car feels like shaking when I start to drive and then a few seconds later is fine and the light is permanent not blinking….. any advice????????????? Thank you I hope I make sense with all I told you lol
Mine was doing the same thing, now there is a sleight tic that is making me crazy af. Sounds like it's comjng from the front end, and I loosened the belt and there is alliyle of back and forth
I don't hear that exact noise, at least not to that extent and it is only when vehicle is cold. After engine is warmed up, the noise is pretty much gone. Maybe it is something different on my 2010 RL
@@pitbull82 After an oil change, I added 8 or 12 oz of Marvel Mystery oil in the motor and it is much better and no knock. Unless there is a mechanical issue, it may not help.
when i first got my 05 tl i starting hearing that sound i was guessing since the first it was something to do with the timing belt tensioner another mech told me it could be a piston , crazy
Honestly there's really nothing I would be able to do without seeing the car. The best thing to do is try and verify if it's the tensioner or not. They probably told you it's not drivable because they don't want to be held liable if it fails. Which it very well could
I have a problem child in the shop currently.. just did timing belt (twice) and have a noise on startup and under load/acceleration.. eh.. could be bad new tensioners? No way right?
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow mine’s started doing this noise on cold starts & wouldn’t go away when it reached normal temperatures. it stays making that noise all the time now & it won’t go away. Now It sounds like it’s grinding. I’m hoping this is the problem.
Was racking my brain trying to figure out what noise this was. Recent brutal cold snap here in the south, then this exact issue. Thanks for the video-- impossible for me to describe the sound it was producing. Do you recommend replacing solely the belt tensioner, or since the work to get to the tensioner in the first place and potential damage to the pulley just replace the entire thing? Thanks
I have a similar noise with my car but the noise gets louder as I push the throttle. 3 mechanics told me its just injector noise but I have never heard injectors that loud. I can hear it inside the car. To me it sounds like a sticky valve or the valves need adjusted. Any ideas? BTW its a 3.7L TL
Great video man thank you so much for posting this.I was told I had a bad lifter and luckily found your video so I checked tensioner like you said and it definitely seems to be my issue. My 2005 Acura MDX has 204k I will replace everything you suggested in video but would like to ask if you suggest anything else I should do considering mileage.Thank you again.
Thanks man I appreciate the comment and glad it helped you out. I listed in the description everything that I would suggest. Nothing else off hand I can really think of except maybe replacing the serpentine belt tensioner at the same time. If you happen to purchase the parts through my description, I do get a very small Commission on those sales just FYI. thanks!
Some guy told me you can just replaced that hydraulic tensioner without changing the timing belt, water pump, pulleys, etc. Say for example you replaced your timing belt at around90k-100k miles at the dealership but they said no need to replace the tensioner. Well, guess what at 125k to 130k the noise is starting lol. Soooooooo, what to do? is it possible to just remove the tire and panels around it and remove the hydraulic tensioner?
I have that same rattling noise on my 2006 Acura TL with 198 k. I am the 2nd owner and the carfax shows the timing belt replaced by the previous owner but my mechanic says it's highly possible they didn't change the tensioner 😖
I have a knocking noise coming from my engine but it seems to get louder as the RPM's increase, it doesn't go away as you commented in your video. The engine has 130K miles on it and I had the timing belt and water pump replaced at 100K miles but they did not replace the tensioner. Since the noise doesn't go away as the RPM's increase, do you think it could still be the tensioner or a rod? My mechanic thinks it's something inside the engine, but I don't know now after seeing this video. I've driven at freeway speeds (70-80+ mph) for long distances (150+ miles) with it knocking so if it is a rod I figured it would have blown by now at those speeds.
It's more than likely the tensioner especially since they didn't replace it. The fact that they didn't replace it boggles my mind though. Why didn't they? This is a very common problem with these Hondas. In either case it's very easy to check by sticking a stethoscope on the back of the tensioner from the bottom or even just a long screwdriver. That would be the first thing to check. Very easy pinpoint test. Let me know where you end up finding out, I'm curious. This could be the first Honda 3.2 l i see with a rod knock
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow Not sure why they didn't replace it, maybe didn't realize there are issues with it and it looked ok when they replaced the belt. Btw, it's a '07 Acura TL 3.2L (Honda engine). I'm curious if they can replace the tensioner without having to take everything apart again as if they were replacing the belt. I don't need a new belt, since it was just replaced 30K miles ago and I'm not particularly interested in paying $1000+ for the same repair again.
@@epodewell you do still have to take quite a bit apart to replace the tensioner, but it's definitely considerably less work. I forget exactly what the 3.2 l set up looks like, but there are some that I've done where I can just sneak the tensioner in there without taking too much off. Anyway, good luck and let me know the outcome. Thanks
I have 05 TL 6 speed mines started making a knock like sound after I filled up my gas tank , and then my check engine light keeps flashing and the codes are throwing a misfire in all cyclinders, I checked all spark plugs and they look visually well, do you have a contact where I can send you a video of how it sounds?
Can I buy just the tensioner and replace just that? My 2012 odyssey has 84k miles. Not looking to do a complete timing belt water pump replacement just yet.
Timing belts stretch overtime so it's a risk your willing to take but, I think you will be just fine. If you do it, rotate the crank clockwise to take tension off of the belt. Will make it easier.
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow . Do all engine get align when you shut off the engine or do I need to rotate the crank shaft to get the timing belt properly lined up before doing the timing belt complete job??
Hello NoNonsenseKnowHow ! Do you have any idea if this problem is present on the 3.7L ? Got the same noise, but much less intense. It's a 2013, a bit deceiving :P The engine is also making a wierd bloupbloupbloup bubble noise, when on low throttle. Any idea ? Thanks for you time ?
Hello. Yes I have seen it on a few of the 3.7. But definitely doesn't seem as common. I would suggest having somebody put a stethoscope on that tensioner and I should give you a good idea
Question... I have a 2013 RDX base and it seems to have the same noise. When I start it and hear it, I immediately shut if off and start it again, then the engine seems to chug a bit 1-2 seconds then it goes into normal mode and noise goes away. Seems to happen after 6-10 hours of sitting, but does not happen all of the time. I only have 32,000 miles. Do you think this correlates with the problem?
Honestly it's really hard to give you an answer without actually seeing and hearing it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. If you bring it to a mechanic or you're able to get the car up in the air. You can verify with a stethoscope as I did in this video to see if it's the tensioner or not
Derek Merryman honestly I don't recall ever doing one on a 3.5 L but it is a very similar set up so yes I could definitely see the same thing happening. It's a pretty unmistakable noise and it's very easy to confirm if you go under the car and put a stethoscope or long screwdriver on the timing chain tensioner from the back side
Could need a valve adjustment. Honda's and Acura's need them from time to time unlike other brands like Toyota. If they don't get them every 100k then they have an idle knock. Heard people even say you should get one every 30k but I'm not sure on that. That should solve your idle knock unless your using the wrong gas like regular unleaded if your engine is rated for 93 octane which has a higher compression ratio.
Hey i know it's 3 years later mines a 2006 tl i had replaced belts no sound then change toop oil seal no sound then change bottom seal thats when that diesel sound started but mines not loud so i had my tensioner change guess what i still hear that diesel sound do know what else it might be
My 2011 TL have the same noise, I’m not sure what is costing the noise. Could it be the one that you’re talking about ? And how much will it cost to fix ?
Yes you probably have the 3.5 L. I have a separate video on that if you look on my channel. It's more than likely this issue, however you want me to bring it to a mechanic or look into it yourself to verify. Prices vary greatly by region and depending on who you have repair it
Yes, however depending on how long it's been hammering on the tensioner pulley it certainly a good idea to replace that as well. For my experience though once one of these tensioners goes bad, you're really best off just doing the whole timing kit once you're in there. To avoid problems in the future.
do i need to remove motor mounts and lift engine up to do the whole kit? i really wanted to just get rid of noise and sell the vehicle, don't plan to keep it, give me some advice, the motor has 190k miles, it runs really good and everything on high rpm, except for that ugly rattling noise on low rpms, specially on stops or at idle, seems to get louder sometimes.
I have a 2013 Acura tl & making the same noise but it sounds like its coming from the top of the motor. Is it the same thing or something else? The belt is solid
Without hearing your noise it's hard for me to tell you, but I will say this is a very common failure. Best thing to do is to get a stethoscope or long screwdriver on the backside of the tensioner and see if that's making the noise
It's hard to say, the price varies from region to region and depending on whether you use a street corner shop or a dealership or a friend. The price is all over the place
If the pulley is visibly not lined up correct then it must be the wrong tensioner, worn out to the point where it is is not true something is off with the spacing. Sounds like you might have the wrong tensioner. You should be able to run a straight edge across the pulleys and everything is linear
Have a feeling this is the issue with my TL, I ONLY hear a similar noise like this with a cold start engine. Once it's running and turned off it doesn't make the noise. Any advice?
AyrabMoneyWolf no problem, glad you found it helpful. It really depends if you go to a street corner shop or the dealership. The price will vary a lot. Depending on how many miles you have though I would definitely suggest replacing the timing belt and water pump at the same time with the new tensioner
Well I had a similar issue w original engine when I came back from vacation 4 years ago during that nasty ice cold wave my.belt went and blew the motor and interference motor so.this was a used motor my friend at Acura got me w lower miles I have to find the original paper for the used engine but my dash says 135k not to sure til.I find the paper what the mileage difference was I usually go to Acura for all my work but if.i can get same job warrantied from cheaper place ill go there. What would u charge w or w out pump
And the noise sounds like.it's coming from where you pointed at hopefully it is the issue overall and right at.the early rpms it makes the noise and goes.away
My Ridgeline was doing that then it got louder i believe it jumped time and now it won't start, i can see from the oil filling hole the lifters moves when i try to start it so I'm assuming the belt didn't break is it possible the valves got bent? How can i tell before i start throwing parts at it
I had my 08 TL'S complete timing belt service around 130K and now its 146K and making rattling noise at cold start and when it warms up it goes away. Is it possible to just change the belt tensioner if its just only the problem? and not a complete timing belt kit since everything is still pretty new.
I have a 2007 Acura TL and my car is making this same exact noise and just the other day it got louder while I driving and didn’t want to pick up speed. I went to crank it the other day and it will crank but won’t stay crunk what could this mean?
What do you need when you have 50k on it? I recently bought an Acura TL 2009 with 56k and it makes a clicking noise when it’s not running ( like sitting on red light) but it goes away as soon as I start driving. Thanks
I have that exact noise. The car is also throwing a p0344 cam sensor intermittent. Only when the engine is cold. I bought the car with 108k miles. Sticker under the hood said the belt was changed at 100k. Do you think the belt being loose could make that code come up.
Tyler Harris yes a loose belt could certainly cause that code. And just because the timing belt was done does not necessarily mean they replaced the tensioner as well. If they did replace the tensioner, I have also seen some of aftermarket ones fail prematurely.
NoNonsenseKnowHow would it make sense that when the noise goes away the check engine light come on. Only when the engine is cold. When it gets up to operating temp it is fine. Still makes the noise just won’t throw a check engine light.
NoNonsenseKnowHow thank you for posting this video. I had no idea what the noise was but it turns out the person who did the belt before I bought it didn’t know what they were doing. They didn’t even change the water pump. Tensioner was shot. Idler was shot. Belt was starting to fray. One cam was 1 tooth off and the other was 2 teeth off.
presidents1 no problem. They usually come with a GMB pump. Typically manufactured in China I believe however I have never had a problem with a GMB water pump. And I have used hundreds. The belt is made in USA
Not exactly. You're best off replacing the entire timing kit. You can't just remove the tensioner. I mean you could, but you would want to after timing belt covers off and make sure the engine is in the proper location and make sure it doesn't jump time
Belt and pump were replaced right before I bought it. Within 10k miles. Wasn’t planning on messing with that. Idk why they had to cover it. I’m just gonna cut the cover I really don’t wanna take the crank pulley off and mess with all that
@@MrJmd116 to be honest I've never tried putting one in without taking anything off. Did you end up getting it in then? If not let me know how you make out! Curious to know. Thanks for keeping me updated

Having the same noise on my TL 2006. It has 186k on it so that’s why lol Thank you for the detailed video
No problem, thank you very much for your comment!
I used that Dayco kit too...
@@taylorholloway7283 possibly a faulty part. Or improper installation. Let me know what you find out. I'm curious. thx
Turned out to be a faulty hydraulic actuator. It was leaking fluid everywhere. Looked just like this. It's under warranty though, so I should get my money back
@@taylorholloway7283 gotcha. Well yeah hopefully you get refunded. I appreciate you commenting back and sharing your findings. thanks!
You totally just diagnosed my problem. Thank you!
Mines a 2014 with 180,000 miles and it has the same sound I thought it was something to do with the valves 🙏🏽😅🙌🏽
Great video man help me tremendously thanks
Excellent, thank you, sir. Was hoping it wasn't something more serious!
I have taken my RL to the dealership for a noise and they can't seem to find it...if I can send video can you give me some input??
Thanks guy!! I think my car is making same noise. My car makes that same light tapping noises at warm up. Gos away when warms up. Thought it was a loose valve or or rod knock.
+Honda Freak: Did you end up replacing the hydraulic tensioner? And was that the source of the problem?
👀👀👂🏾
My 2007 tl type s vibrates the whole car at idle in drive. It doesn’t make the sound in reverse only drive. The vibration rattles the dash and you can feel it in your seat. Could this be the tensioner ???
Kaden Klein that sounds more like a bad motor mount or a misfire. really hard to say without seeing the car
Did you find a solution? Mine does the same!
Mine does the same
What would something like the cost to be done at a shop? My 2006 RL started to do this. So just wonder what it would cost me
I would definitely use an Aisin kit for any Japanese brands out there
Omg man I think I may have just found my problem because of this. What does this repair cost?
That's the exact problem on my 07 accord and it goes away when the rpm goes up
I had that noice a year ago.
Does the 2.4l 4 cylinder have this same timing tensioner? My 2017 Acura ilx just started making this noise
That's LITERALLY the exact problem I'm having. Did you get it fixed?
@@pitbull82 After an oil change, I added 8 or 12 oz of Marvel Mystery oil in the motor and it is much better and no knock. Unless there is a mechanical issue, it may not help.
How did you get that crank shaft bolt off?
when i first got my 05 tl i starting hearing that sound i was guessing since the first it was something to do with the timing belt tensioner another mech told me it could be a piston , crazy
Thanks for video,my car has 100k and makes that noise, the temperature meter also is only 1/3 way not in middle closer to cold is that a problem?
is there anyway i can contact you because acura trying to tell me its my engine but the car is driving fine
Honestly there's really nothing I would be able to do without seeing the car. The best thing to do is try and verify if it's the tensioner or not. They probably told you it's not drivable because they don't want to be held liable if it fails. Which it very well could
great video! need to check this in my sister's car (my old 05 TL)
Common problem on all the v6 Honda engines from that era… I replace those tensioners without taking the belt or the timing covers off.
Please enlighten me. Can you access the tensioner without taking off anything?
I have a problem child in the shop currently.. just did timing belt (twice) and have a noise on startup and under load/acceleration.. eh.. could be bad new tensioners? No way right?
Can you install a manual tensioner on that vehicle ?
Thank you for posting this video. I have a 2007 Honda Accord v6 with this same problem.
No problem! Yeah super common problem on those
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow
mine’s started doing this noise on cold starts & wouldn’t go away when it reached normal temperatures. it stays making that noise all the time now & it won’t go away.
Thanks
Glad it helped. Doing the whole timing belt set is best way to go
I have a similar noise with my car but the noise gets louder as I push the throttle. 3 mechanics told me its just injector noise but I have never heard injectors that loud. I can hear it inside the car. To me it sounds like a sticky valve or the valves need adjusted. Any ideas? BTW its a 3.7L TL
Honestly without hearing a noise it's hard to give any opinion
If there's a way to send you a video of it. I would be glad to. Its driving me crazy and I do not know these j engines. Im a boxer guy.
A quick question. If I dont want to replace the whole belt system, can I just replace the push pin and the belt tensioner?
Yes you can replace just the tensioner, but I don't think that's not the best way to go about it.
If you happen to purchase the parts through my description, I do get a very small Commission on those sales just FYI. thanks!
That must have been hammering for thousands of miles. Holy crap!
Excellent and informative video... how can i send you a video of my car knocking noise
???
I have that same rattling noise on my 2006 Acura TL with 198 k. I am the 2nd owner and the carfax shows the timing belt replaced by the previous owner but my mechanic says it's highly possible they didn't change the tensioner 😖
You know if the kit in the description will work for a 2002 tl type s? Both are the j32
Yes it will work for sure
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow thanks for decently quick reply on an old video
Why does the noise go away as the RPM increase? My 06 TL is making a similar noise just not as loud and aggressive but goes away above 2 rpm
Not as much tension on the slack side I guess
where is your shop
Does that cause the car to jump when you try to drive it
I have a knocking noise coming from my engine but it seems to get louder as the RPM's increase, it doesn't go away as you commented in your video.
I've seen Rod knocks go for 20,000 miles and more. I've never seen a rod knock in a Honda 3.2L...
Thanks
@@epodewell guess he neva got to it. Still driving with the knock lol
You certainly could do that. But in my opinion you might as well replace the whole kit while you're in there. It's due at 105 k
It's a 2013, a bit deceiving :P
The engine is also making a wierd bloupbloupbloup bubble noise, when on low throttle.

You can verify with a stethoscope as I did in this video to see if it's the tensioner or not
I have a 96 RL 3.5L with an idle knock. Is this a common problem with that engine as well?
Hey i know it's 3 years later mines a 2006 tl i had replaced belts no sound then change toop oil seal no sound then change bottom seal thats when that diesel sound started but mines not loud so i had my tensioner change guess what i still hear that diesel sound do know what else it might be
Possibly a rod knock
How much does this cost to replace
My 2011 TL have the same noise, I’m not sure what is costing the noise. Could it be the one that you’re talking about ? And how much will it cost to fix ?
Yes you probably have the 3.5 L. I have a separate video on that if you look on my channel. It's more than likely this issue, however you want me to bring it to a mechanic or look into it yourself to verify. Prices vary greatly by region and depending on who you have repair it
I wish this guy was down the street. My mechanic won’t touch my car.
My car makes the same exact noise
will replacing the hydraulic cylinder only get rid of the knocking/rattling noise?
I had a question.
I have this sound in the same spot on my evo 6 but the belt is tight and not slapping?!
It might just be slightly worn out to where it's making noise but not slapping yet
How much would the service be if one doesnt want to do it on there own
It's hard to say, the price varies from region to region and depending on whether you use a street corner shop or a dealership or a friend. The price is all over the place
Need Help, just installed new tensioner pulley on my 04 TL, but pulley is not aligned properly and belt keeps coming off
You talking about the timing belt tensioner or the serpentine belt?
serpentine belt tensioner pulley
If the pulley is visibly not lined up correct then it must be the wrong tensioner, worn out to the point where it is is not true something is off with the spacing. Sounds like you might have the wrong tensioner. You should be able to run a straight edge across the pulleys and everything is linear
Or it's possible to tensioner is bent. Really hard to give you any input without seeing it though
Have a feeling this is the issue with my TL, I ONLY hear a similar noise like this with a cold start engine. Once it's running and turned off it doesn't make the noise. Any advice?
Yeah, I would get in there with a stethoscope and try to confirm if it is the tensioner or not.
Thanks my 2010 doing the same thing def sounds like it's the same as yours how much is it to fix usually ??
How can i tell before i start throwing parts at it
Same thing happening to me bruh lmk if you find out
My 08 Acura RDX is making this noise when I turn on the AC and when I take my foot off the gas sometimes..could it be the tensioner?
Yes. It could be. Need to get on there with a stethoscope or screwdrivers to give it a listen
I had my 08 TL'S complete timing belt service around 130K and now its 146K and making rattling noise at cold start and when it warms up it goes away. Is it possible to just change the belt tensioner if its just only the problem? and not a complete timing belt kit since everything is still pretty new.
Yes you can replace just the belt tensioner.

Thanks
did you verify whether it is the tensioner or not? If it is then I would just replace the whole timing kit if it was me
I have that exact noise.
Tyler Harris it's hard to say without actually seeing the car and diagnosing it. It sounds like you're on the right track though
Tyler Harris no problem Tyler! Glad it helped you out!

NoNonsenseKnowHow have you had any experience with the DNJ timing kits? wondering if they are any good. Thanks,
Great vid man
For the new one(doin it today) do u just bolt it up then remove the retainer pin?
Not exactly. You're best off replacing the entire timing kit. You can't just remove the tensioner. I mean you could, but you would want to after timing belt covers off and make sure the engine is in the proper location and make sure it doesn't jump time
Belt and pump were replaced right before I bought it. Within 10k miles. Wasn’t planning on messing with that. Idk why they had to cover it. I’m just gonna cut the cover I really don’t wanna take the crank pulley off and mess with all that
@@MrJmd116 it's not really that much more work to do it the right way, and you're definitely better off. Not worth risking it
