- During his testimony on Wednesday, Johnny Depp told the story of how his finger was severed during an incident with Amber Heard. Depp alleges that Heard threw a glass bottle at him, causing his finger to be severed. Depp stated, "I was looking directly at my bone sticking out, and the meaty portion on the inside of your finger and blood was just pouring out."

Yeah, we really need to normalize prenups as a society. Nowadays if you try to get a prenup you'll get flamed because "you're not dedicated to the relationship and are planning for it to fail" but it should be viewed the other way around and be the default. You should automatically have a prenup and have to specifically opt into one and it should instead be viewed as "ohh why do you want a prenup, are you assuming we're gonna get a divorce in the future and you want money if and when that happens, is that the reason you want to get married?" Like it really shouldn't matter if you get one or not, if the relationship works out like planned then it'll never even come into play. Same thing with wills, you shouldn't even worry about that until you're old and sickly, that's basically like planning for your partner to die and it's suspicious if you even bring it up so early on in the relationship... If you're still newly wed and your partner dies unexpectedly then money should be the last thing on your mind anyway, you just lost the love of your life after all...

My impression is that she doesn’t have much support, male or female. I am even a woman who has been (falsely) accused of domestic violence by my ex husband during our ugly divorce so I know firsthand that can happen, but I don’t believe her and I don’t have an iota of sympathy for her.

I never got to prove that they were lies, the lawyer I had at the time really crapped the bed and let me down.

You deserve better, and you can definitely find a good partner who will love you with kindness and understanding. I think it's possible based on the audio recordings that she INSTIGATED these fights hoping he would strike her but there is no proof officially that he did. Had he really struck her she could have got him put away but there wasn't hard proof he did so hes left with telling his truth and shes left with staring at this camera looking as if she wants to wring his neck for exposing her.

Subtle detail; At 14:03 you can hear him correct himself from “hiding” in the bathroom to “the room I locked myself in” After the audio tapes of her saying he runs and hides and he’s a coward, etc. That shows how much she really broke his confidence. Might also be a courtroom thing where hiding implies concealment which changes the situation, I could see his lawyer coaching him to not say it.

4. When she learned about the legal process taking place that would keep their financials separate she was furious
5. She freaked out on Johnny to undo this because she's use to getting her way
6. She assaults Johnny, and quickly realized that she really screwed up, and how do you get out of assaulting someone?

The fact that, even AFTER she severed part of his finger, he still didn't want her to get in trouble, is incredible to me. He still showed some sort of remorse for her, despite her being so horrible to him, despite her severing part of his finger.
I've seen lots of footage of this trial and not once have I seen ANY shame or remorse from her.
Even if she hadn't caused his injury (which of course she did), you'd think maybe, just maybe, after hearing how he suffered, listening to him describe the unbearable pain he was in, she'd get a bit misty eyed, shed a tear or two for someone she, to this day, claims she loves, but no. The woman is without a soul.

I think most people that are criticizing the way Depp talks with his slow mannerisms and explanations is because that's how he acts outside of Hollywood. He's private in his life and most people judge him because he's not acting like his movie characters.

He also has a stammer he's talked about before in interviews that he needs time to consider his words before he says them to control the stammer. He's even said to audiences "are you bored yet?" In a self deprecating way as if he's been bullied about it before. He's always been very shy, and now he's discussing the past and present traumatic events likely caused and exacerbated it and this is EXTREMELY public. Using these circumstances to imply this means he isn't a quick thinker or smart is insulting.

exactly what i would do with my ex wife. she would throw plates of hot food at me daily, threw meat cleaver at me twice, kicked me most days till i bled, stomped my feet with stilleto heels, smashed a laptop on my head. i locked myself in a spare bedroom and she managed to rip the door from the hinges. it got to the point were i duct taped a plastic bag over my head and then wrapped the tape around my arms but i wasnt quick enough because she found me, tore the bag and then proceeded to punch and kick me. It was so exhausting - just trying to keep a "monster" at arm's length whilst the blows rained down.
As a guy - all I ever got from people was to hit her back, or she cant hit that hard. we divorced in 2008 and i am without any doubt that if we had stayed together I would have been dead by 2009

In retrospect that’s probably not the best way to deal, but from what I saw people’s reactions were a lot like what you said, ‘hit her back’, ‘she’s so much smaller than you’, etc… I don’t even know if support groups were a thing back then, I can remember that all I wanted was out.
