@ryno23gocubs its like a line up of back up engines and trucks etc. so they are there and they dont have to call for more and wait like 10 minutes. there in stand by
I noticed the driver blew most of the Red lights without even slowing down. Does your department have the electronics to change light signals as you approach an intersection? Or was this just Driver errors?
He's a District Chief, sometimes the Districts are pretty big, because they only really need to go to the big calls. Also, there's a good chance it was in another District and he was going to help with command duties.
@301whitehall In Wisconsin you can proceed through stop sign, traffic lights and exceed the speed limit, but you HAVE to drive with due regard. If you get in an accident at an intersection because you rolled through a stop sign or traffic signal, even with lights and siren, you will be held liable!
It's for tradition. A Fire Commissioner just so happened to have a maritime background. Red on the side of a ship or boat meant you're seeing its left or port side, and green meant you're seeing its starboard or right side.
@shfrfghtr yeah im in MABAS 21( (Evergreen Park) and being a part of MABAS is a huge benefit and is extremely relaible and vital, it comes in handy when you have Extra-alarm fires and you need lots of mutual aid
I was listening to the radio traffic for the 3-11 at the church, and the 4-11 at the restaurant on Halsted lastnight (CFD did a great job by the way). But anyway I heard trucks reporting that they were at the staging area. What is the staging area?
Watching the video he was responding from Quarters. And the call was a bit of a trip but it was still in his district. Also he's the 6th District DDC, he goes on all the BS runs too.
Even if this wasn't labeled as City of Chicago you'd be able to tell that its Illinois just by the condition the roads are in.....oh and the road construction!!!!! LOL
Look at all the people who don't pull to the right, ugh it annoys me so much... I literally want to scream at them... I still have the sticker on my car from CFD's "I pull to the right..." promotion
LOL a Q in a chiefs car? Nice... "This Punk Dude." Hate to burst your bubble but chicago probably wont be hiring for a LONNNNNNNGGG time. Recent trends in their process was a process in 1995 and now one in 2006. the 2006 process was a joke. They took the last 4 digits of ur SSN with the tying applicants and selected them that way. I.E. they randomly pulled 80 people from a pool of 2,000 tying. Its almost impossible to get on with the way they hire in the # of processes they put on...
Some Citys you do not have to stop/slow down, paramedics have to slow down in Pittsburgh, but Fire apparatus and Polic do not. In Miami-Dade they MUST completely STOP at any red lights, kinda stupid.
one of the best response vids on here. great capture!
One of best sounds in the world at 4:49. Nice video!
I love Chicago Fires Sirens there so unique and awesome to hear
Rudy (Chie f Ranis) was one of the best, nicest Chiefs CFD had, Great Instructor too at Fire College! His driver handled that buggy well too! ;).
And a 1980 Entry Date
Yes all chicago rigs have the 2qb2 siren, but some of the older rigs have a different siren like the squads
Awesome video!
I'm a new subscriber I'm from missouri
DDC Rinas...a great man and a great chief...he is sorely missed in the 6th...
Awesome video for the 20 people who dslike need to know about the Chicago Fire department ksc711
@Wonkawillie77
was that box and still alarm for that dwelling fire happen on a cold friday night?
what is the name of the siren that chigaco uses?
is it a different form of a "q"? it sounds cool when it starts up
@DFD737 lol, u could put on a 3 phase generator, and swap out to an a/c 3 phase induction motor
excellent video
Awesome!
Just over 7 miles, from (roughly 104th and Torrence to 90th and Ashland).
@ryno23gocubs its like a line up of back up engines and trucks etc. so they are there and they dont have to call for more and wait like 10 minutes. there in stand by
Damn. How far apart are the fire stations out there?
hey thanks
that is realy clever =)
is the fog in chicago so mad?
see you
do you know what radio that is?
Almost all rigs, including ALL chief's vehicles, have the EQ2B, older rigs and the squads have the PA300.
how loud is the siren inside the vehicle
at 2:21 it sounds like a tornado siren (3T22 or2T22 series) or an air raid siren for the wind-down
I noticed the driver blew most of the Red lights without even slowing down. Does your department have the electronics to change light signals as you approach an intersection? Or was this just Driver errors?
wow good video i love it :)
thanks 4 doing what u do-best i miss the city
what does at the box mean?
awesome video!!! Love the Electric Q!

@deekamikaze It says "District Chief." I'd assume districts are pretty large. There wouldn't be one at each station/
i beleve they come from 103 and hoxie? they were over east near 103rd and stony. look the expressway through to 95th and looped around
i know its an eq2b, but when it starts up, it sounds different than the ones i have heard.
listen to it start up at 25 seconds
btw - I
Nice Ride..
@dsfryda Where in WI do you serve?
@ryno23gocubs but thats what my instructor kinda said. its hard to explain im only in firefighting one so i have a lot to learn
there is a siren box in the center console
Did you ever become a firefighter? Been a while since your last video.
Im sorry, what do you mean by "chuffed"?
a young firefighter :) he'll come in handy when we get old and can't do it anymore
We now use the MABAS in lenewee county in Michigan
IS that a ride along
is that Q siren the ONLY siren that he has?
It is actually an Electronic Q siren. EQ2B
nice ride, just like being there. What's up with the kiddie fire hat dropping?
someone once told me that the warble light or 8-8-8 and green light were added becouse the cfd was founded by boaters and rail workers
hey nice video
i have one question what is the green light on the chicago fd units for?
thanks
see you
It's for tradition. A Fire Commissioner just so happened to have a maritime background. Red on the side of a ship or boat meant you're seeing its left or port side, and green meant you're seeing its starboard or right side.
is the guy coasting the Eq
@301whitehall lol, in MN, the red light turn green for u..... opticom FTW
what time was this call happen at
what time was this call happen at
Next best thing to being there. Long ride from 104th & Hoxie to 9023 S. Justine.
@shfrfghtr yeah im in MABAS 21( (Evergreen Park) and being a part of MABAS is a huge benefit and is extremely relaible and vital, it comes in handy when you have Extra-alarm fires and you need lots of mutual aid
i cant tell what kind of car is this? is it a ford explorer or a ford expedition? or somthing else. i dont think it would be a tahoe or something?
cool...
that is the way to do it
I find it funny that when thieir on the highway passing the traffic cones, listen carefully and you can hear the sound bouncing off them, lol.
@DFD737 i knew the suvs cant cant handle a real q, i mean like on an engine or ladder or whatever with a big alternator.
I was listening to the radio traffic for the 3-11 at the church, and the 4-11 at the restaurant on Halsted lastnight (CFD did a great job by the way). But anyway I heard trucks reporting that they were at the staging area. What is the staging area?
It's where extra emergency vehicles go to wait for permission to go to the scene.
yea im a litttle familiar with the area....
I noticed you guys don't use 10 codes on the radio. Is this something new or has it always been this way?
Ever since 9/11 most departments don’t use 10 codes
Lol at Federal Signal Siren in Chief Vehice
@shfrfghtr Who had the idea to put an eq on a car?
Watching the video he was responding from Quarters. And the call was a bit of a trip but it was still in his district. Also he's the 6th District DDC, he goes on all the BS runs too.
where is it what side of Chicago is it in
Far south side. Around 87th & the ryan.
rja9566 sorry i meant 103rd and stoney.
@DFD737 I disagree, the EQ doesn't sound that good...
Somebody should teach the driver how to hold the wheel in a fast response vehicle.
Even if this wasn't labeled as City of Chicago you'd be able to tell that its Illinois just by the condition the roads are in.....oh and the road construction!!!!! LOL
Same thing here in Nj
@CHINKZRTHECOOLEST It's an Electronic Q
Coming from 127 Doty fire station where E80 sleeps
Actually, his aide is driving. The chief is the passenger.
i would say just go on in... just some mid day... NOT during lunch time OR dinner time... and thats 6-ish
Cars get out of the way! Cant you hear the siren!?
What ever happened to slowing down at lights?! He didnnt even hesitate going through them red lights! traffic or not slow down at the lights!
awasom
They stayed on 87th for a long time.
aswime run love the q
+Sam Coberley yep
10 minutes response time - thats about the maxium time allowed in german cities, at normal traffic and weather conditions
It is a district chief responding he has a large area to cover
How big of an area does a deputy chief have? Seems like he was driving forever to get to the scene LOL
@shfrfghtr same with maryland
also because no one is pulling over
I like the PA-300 for a chiefs vehicle the electronic Q siren sucks not as effective as the real Q
Palm Beach Garden fire dept has qs on evrything
104th n Hoxie ;[
EQ2B by Federal Signal
@jacolbyredsox i think its pretty funny
The deputy district chief is
yes i meant bad ^^
ah ok
only question is, is it an engine or truck? cause i'd send an engine. hit the cat with the deck gun, lol.
WTH A TEN MIN CODE RUN?!?!
Where is the video of you getting the same distance faster ?
all that driving, i wanted to see a fire lol, no im not a fire bug
Look at all the people who don't pull to the right, ugh it annoys me so much... I literally want to scream at them... I still have the sticker on my car from CFD's "I pull to the right..." promotion
is it true that Chicago Fire Department's firefighters are mostly black?
Putting a Q siren on a battalion chief car is just wrong.
Why is that ?
I hate that fake Q on an SUV!!!!!!!!!!
The EQ2B sucks as a primary siren. It is much better when used as the secondary siren with an electronic siren as the primary.
Best city in the world also worst streets in the world
LOL a Q in a chiefs car? Nice...

Can you drive any slower I mean its only a fire...(satire)
i dont like Eqs they sound fake.
Rudy (Chie f Ranis) was one of the best, nicest Chiefs CFD had, Great Instructor too at Fire College! His driver handled that buggy well too! ;)
