  • Train your diving reflex so you dont panic when you get water in your diving mask. This will also let you swim underwater without holding your nose.

Thank you so much! I will be sure to try this next time I'm at the pool! I came here because whenever I go underwater without my nose plugged, I get water up my nose and it doesn't burn my nose, it burns my throat. I guess because your nose is attached to your throat. Anyway, thanks!

    Dear Christian!
Are you able to equalize your nose while being underwater face-up? You know, when you apply a pressure when you are not blowing out air through your nose, but no water comes into your nose either

I Love your Videos ! Dear Christian , I don't Know you that long , but I love your underwater Videos!
So Could you make a Underwater Series that shows us everything about freediving step for step ?
Thanks and greetings from Germany 👍🏻

      +Kommentar Schreiber thanks.
I don't think I should make a series like that. I am schooled as a commercial diver. And mostly self taught as a free diver so I will only make videos about things I am 100% sure is correct. And I don't think I'm the right person to do such a video.
But I will make a intervju with some free divers on how to get started with free diving.

I think once your nose holes start pointing up, water will do that naturally. The best thing to do in that instance is blow air out directly.

Well, obviously you do need to block your nose then.

How do we use the muscles in the top back of the throat?

nightwalker 983 Here's how I'm trying it. take a glass of water a chug it. You'll notice you'll glup, breathe, gulp, breathe, etc. when you're gulping, that position of your throat is the same position you want it to be in when under water. So blow air out when you submerge, then swallow some saliva and hold it in that position. It does work for me, although I'm still learning to get comfortable. Lmk if this helps!

nightwalker 983 you're welcome. I hope I helped. Another thing I realized when moving vertical it's supposed to go half way up your nose so as for that part, try the throat trick and just get used to that feeling

First try to breathe through your nose, mouth closed. Now say the letter “P” in slow motion.
Why is air not leaving your nose while you build pressure in your mouth to make the “P” sound?
The answer is, because you just used your muscle to block the sinuses.
You can now practice engaging and isolating that muscle.

IncendiaHL so what made it close? Breathing with your nose or saying the letter p
