@@anunexpectederrorhappened5605 yeah.. Who doesn't!! Actually I'm a good swimmer and an ok diver, what i said up there in my comment was only a joke for fun.
This has been a problem my whole life, I'm absolutely terrified of people dunking me when I swim with others and I always tell people I can't keep water from getting in my nose so they know not to do that. I don't have access to a pool anymore but I might use the second technique to see if I can learn to do it. I guess it's a matter of training that muscle.
well if it's hard to train that muscle just blow from your nose regularly. my first swimming sessions of the year i had that same problem but after the 6th one i blowed out of my nose every 2-4 seconds and i could stay underwater regularly. after few sessions doing that i realized i didn't need to do that anymore. i efficiently trained my muscle that way.
Thank you. Gotta try this. 50 years I've been trying to figure this out and no one would even try to explain the second technique. They sometimes talk about the first one, but it's clearly not the one they're doing because they swim upside down or jump in. I raised four kids who can also do this fine but couldn't explain it to me.
guess it's just me that I love water and actually really enjoy pools and swimming but for the longest time I refused to go underwater. I wanted to but my anxiety took over and I haven't touched the bottom of a pool for most of my life but recently I got my goggles and pushed through the fear and started going underwater more often and soon enough I built up the courage to swim down to 6 ft and touched the bottom. I started out having to touch the bottom an even amount of times but slowly I guess I just forgot. my fear was gone. in the past weeks I can now dive down and swim at the bottom of the pool without thinking to much. I never went away but I can for the most part do want I want underwater now :)

Actually, swimming under water is easier above water because when you're under water, your weight is lessened, but if you're swimming on the surface, part of your body is under, making you only a little lighter, so it's easier to swim under than over, just try it. I learned to swim under before I did over. Try doggy paddle first, then, look at the olympics and watch how they do it. Try and mimic that but slower because they're very fast. It gets easier the more you swim under water to swim on the surface. It's quite the experience, coming from one who loves the water but dislikes the beach.
Thanks man, I’m 14 and my life long dream is to be in the military but this is one of the problems I’ve had when researching and watching boot camp videos. You may have just saved me🎉

I hate it when people say that just because I have to hold my nose that I’m less experienced. I’ve been swimming since I was 4 and I can hold my breath for quite a while, the only problem is that when I unplug my nose the water shoots up and it hurts really bad. When I try to blow out of my nose underwater it makes my sinus hurt and it’s not like I am too scared to try, it’s that when I do try it hurts. When I was 7-12 I didn’t need to hold my nose, but now I do. So if someone knows what the problem is, please explain!
breathe out your nose as you let go of your nostrils, than as you swim breathe out your nose to prevent water getting in, if the process doesn't work, than come up to the surface and try going under without holding your nose. breathe out as you go under, than once you are under breathe less air out of your nose so you can stay under for a longer time period. I find the easiest way to deal with it is to get over the pain. Easiest way is just to exhale slowly out of your nose. If you are simply jumping in and resurfacing or just going for quick dive down then this works perfectly as it requires no technique. The main thing is you dont want to exhale too much air too quickly.
Closing the soft palate doesn't keep water from flooding your sinuses. It just keeps it from running down your throat. Sinus flooding is a common technique in the merfolk community, and we close our soft palates during each dive and then blow the water out of our noses before inhaling at the surface. Also doing a sinus rinse such as a neti pot afterward is important for avoiding sinus infections.
I'm getting my OW scuba certification. Is there anything you'd recommend to clear the water in the sinuses underwater? My problem is as soon as I start putting my mask on underwater it'll flood my sinuses with water. I'll punch my nose to stop it but as soon as I release the water comes flooding back in even after i partially clear my mask.
I've always been able to close the back of my nose to block the water from getting in the sinuses. I thought everyone could consciously control this muscle untill I tried explaining it to my friends who always pinch their noses, and theh said they can't.
Im actually looking at this video because I sucked at removing masks under water during scuba dives. And the traning msucles to block water looks like a helpful advice. Trying it now.
What is there to laugh you don't know anything but you remember this video, pictures and know how to write that means you take your mobile in the hospital you are in the hospital now i think😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😆😆😆😆😋😋😋😊😊😊😎😎😎😎
I can also do this thing with the par above my lips. I just position it flat against my nose, while suction-ing on the skin. It's watertight, and pretty easy to do. I always do it while diving without a diving mask
I just saw your video and RUclips shorts and wanted to know how to do this and now I found another of your videos! They are awesome helping me achieve my hobby!
Sadly I hate the feeling of water in my nose, but at swim team we can’t wear diver masks, I try nose clips but they fall off, so I would like to thank you for this helpful video, now I can go free diving with no masks too!

Im actually looking at this video because I sucked at removing masks under water during scuba dives. And the traning msucles to block water looks like a helpful advice. Trying it now.

Lol I’ve always wondered why some people hold their nose. I’ve never held it before. 😂😂
Yeah, same? I didn't even know people hold their noses while swimming, I thought just paused breathing was the norm..
pasta. Yeah, it’s cool to know that I’m finally special in a good way.😂
It hurts so bad
I dont do anything and i dont feel pain in my nose or my ears (even when i am diving) please tell me the reason!
You could have a stuffy nose or your born knowing how to block the water coming through you nose. And for you ears, your just not diving deep enough.
The Ender Sword your minecraft character doesnt have a nose
Bixiled 42 hhhhhhh XD
Bixiled 42 ahahaha lol
Idk :-) hope u learned!
I can also do this thing with the par above my lips. I just position it flat against my nose, while suction-ing on the skin. It's watertight, and pretty easy to do. I always do it while diving without a diving mask
I DONT EVEN KNOW HOW TO SWIM😭😭😭so why I’m I watching this 😂 tbh he looks like a actor on a movie or show

Alannah Pearl im sorry for u

My nose was always blocked af so I almost never plugged my nose.
I thought it was only me
(I breathe mostly using my nose)
Yeah idk how but I’ve always known to not blow out while underwater and I don’t have to plug my nose
@@lyndseypaige9339 yes me to i just dive and my nose gets closed automaticly some people are weird LoL
If you ever have a blocked nose do 3 push-ups
Trust me it’ll help
My head gets a sharp pain if I go too deep. Anyone else?
An m8, for me I fell I need to throw up. But really it's a burp : )
Me.
the preasure is too much for your head xDDD its holding air making it like a vacuum
BikeRace Yoickson i dont get head pain but ear pain xD
The pain is caused by the change in pressure in your sinuses. Theres excercises to equalise the pressure.
Sadly I hate the feeling of water in my nose, but at swim team we can’t wear diver masks, I try nose clips but they fall off, so I would like to thank you for this helpful video, now I can go free diving with no masks too!
