Nice review! I think the show is decent but not anything amazing, characters are good and it’s interesting overall. Has many goosebumps references, Slappy looked creepy and awesome, my only issue is that is I feel like Slappy didn’t get enough screen time episode. But that’s just me.

I think that that would be a cool idea if I hadn’t seen the things I’d seen so far hahah. What I’ve seen so far seems to be nothing more than passionless writing, and I’m convinced that that kind of twist you mentioned is way too smart for this team at Disney lol. But, again, cool theory, dude.
Where is slappy’s creepy laugh?!? He’s All serious in this show, but he will be the star of another dummy episode, so this version still has time to grow on us.
The problem with all of this is that they've realized how successful the old books and show was, that they try to hijack the name "Goosebumps" but build their own "idea" of what it should be (hence all of these remakes because no one has talent or creativity to come up with their own movies/shows anymore). Unfortunately, like you, I don't think a single one of these folks have ever read the books or understood how Goosebumps was supposed to be portrayed. Luckily we have the books & 90's show for that, but therein lies the problem; we're decades away from the 90's. And unfortunately anyone who's going to make a show in "todays" time period is not necessarily going to remember or even know how to create that charm that was around Goosebumps during the 1990's unless you lived it in some form or fashion. Me, personally, I'm just not going to waste my time with anything that says Goosebumps on it, that was produced on into the 2000's or further lol glad you're at least trying to enjoy it. Dude, honestly, I hate the show so much that I would’ve quit it by episode 1, but I figured I don’t have anything else to make content for this channel, now that I’ve discussed every book and episode, so I figured I might as well at least give my audience something to listen to hahah. This show is absolutely awful, and there’s no way it’s getting a season 2 lol.

The main reason the kids in the dummy books were frightened of Mr Wood or Slappy was because the dummies were running around their house at night causing chaos. And the idea/reality of that IS the terrifying part lolol. Idk. I mean, I've watched other horror content that has been made in recent years such as VHS 85, The Boogeyman, Smile, etc. and they all do what they're supposed to do? simple concepts that are "scary". That's all ya need. This is Disney Goosebumps, so it makes sense that it sucks. If it was rebooted by the original show makers or somebody else, I'd give it a shot. But I can already imagine how cringe this show is..

This episode was such a bore fest. It just feels like two weirdly placed together stories. The fact that Slappy's original owner (so the magician dude) somehow did not age from the 20's all the way to the 70's makes no sense to me as he merely got a small beard, though he should look much more aged. Then all of a sudden once he's hiding Slappy, he looks super old. Just a weird continuity error I had noticed. It makes no sense logically. I get some people age well, but not that well with no basic change lol. The Harold Biddle stuff just sucks, the guy is a fucking creep and honestly I don't feel bad he died in the fire, he was just an idiot Slappy easily enticed. Wasn't fan of how they did Slappy here, the voice just didn't fit for me. Slappy for me is meant to be a mix of scary and campiness, he felt that way in both the show and the movie, he's an evil doll who cracks jokes and is menacing as well. I hated how Slappy couldn't do much, but manipulate others yet in the TV show and movie had much more power and was able to move around. The human turning into dolls effects looked just cheesy and awful to me. I'll be honest if these episodes start being like Episode 5 and 6 to where it's just pretty damn boring as hell, I'll probably just drop this lol. I can stand cringe to some degrees, but mix boredom into it, and you got a combo I'm running away from. Also I did watch Magic, and it's a pretty good movie given Fats is actually a creepy doll. Hell this episode felt like it was trying to be those much creepier evil doll stories, hell a Twilight Zone episode did the evil dummy part better than this show did. I did recently rewatch the Goosebumps movie and I still thought it was great for what it is. So much better than this show. Planning to rewatch Goosebumps Haunted Halloween down the line and I'm hoping I do enjoy it since I did remember liking it the first time I watched it, I guess show the sequel some love given it does feel underappreciated.
Agreed with pretty much everything you said, man. I understand why a lot of people love this version of Slappy, but I’m just not digging it. The personality is off.

As of right now, this is the best episode. And I rather enjoy this one. I think Slappy looks so creepy, dude! The British accent doesn’t bother me, I actually kinda like it lol. One thing that does bother me though is how Ephraim gets Slappy. Darkwell the sorcerer’s first name is Ephraim… and since this dude was a magician that ends up doing real magic/spells makes me think he’s supposed to be Darkwell… If he’s Darkwell then he should’ve created Slappy instead of buying him from a shop… Other than that, it’s pretty good. Also: I’ve heard about the movie Magic awhile back but I watched it over the weekend for the first time, and it’s great! Corky is Hopkins character and Fats is the dummy, btw. Good movie!

Believe it or not in my opinion I think Slappy in the New series is a whole lot creepier looking then Ginger Slappy from the 90s show. I just really enjoyed it. He was very eerie looking

So the prelude for Slappy Beware & Slappy's Nightmare are virtually identical except that the story in Slappy's Nightmare starts much farther back than Slappy Beware which states when Slappy is being made by Mahar (which is going by Darkwell now) in cottage in America & has already escaped from Mr. Wood and Kanduu in Slappy's Nightmare prelude. Kanduu is not mentioned at all in Slappy Beware. However, before you go saying that episode 6 made a reference to Slappy's Nightmare, that's not even correct since not only was Slappy made and brought to life by Mahar after he left England but that Mr. Wood was also made by Mahar because Kanduu never made any of the dummy's since he was a sorcerer & not a carpenter. So if anyone's name should be on the box is Mahar or rather Darkwell, sine that was Mahar's stage name. You cant even say the case could be Mr. Wood's since Mahar was performing with Mr. Wood before he ever met Kanduu. That's not a canon reference, that's a *uck up lol. Magic is a great movie however I haven't seen it in many years so I will give it try tonight and see how I feel about it now that I'm older. However if you haven't seen Devil Doll or the Great Gabbo your missin out ;)

It's original in that Fats isn't live but the movie at time tricks you into thinking he is. All the classic dummy movies make the ventriloquist appear to be crazy but the dummy is always reviled to be alive. However, Magic does the opposite and leans heavy on split personality disorder and has a great plot twist at the end :) I think Magic might be the only movie that actually has a crazy ventriloquist which makes it very special & not suitable for comparison by other dummy movies. However, it's quality is definitely up there with the 3 other movies I mentioned earlier.

Bruh, that embarrassing argument over whether a girl should jump to her death or not over being a "strong, independent woman" was absolutely awful. I don't know what kind of drugs this writing group was on, but it might be one of the worst episodes of the entire season. Nothing at all happens the entire time lol.

Theres also a part that happens very quickly but its when mr bratt (name is kinda implying something imo) is saying pain makes him go back to his body. And the first person to punch him was the same girl who ends up going into the abyss lol Also after watching episode 7 i remembered a character we hadnt seen in forever and its isaiahs? Gabriel? I forget his name but his girlfriend. She saw diddle boy in the woods just like everyone else did in the days after the party. Yet her involvement has been non existent. I dont want to call it. But i wouldnt be suprised if that girls mom or dad was the actual murderer and thats the "goosebumps" twist. And thats why she has been excluded from the group so to speak for that reveal. Maybe im missing something tho

Also I did watch Magic, and it's a pretty good movie given Fats is actually a creepy doll. Hell this episode felt like it was trying to be those much creepier evil doll stories, hell a Twilight Zone episode did the evil dummy part better than this show did.
I did recently rewatch the Goosebumps movie and I still thought it was great for what it is. So much better than this show. Planning to rewatch Goosebumps Haunted Halloween down the line and I'm hoping I do enjoy it since I did remember liking it the first time I watched it, I guess show the sequel some love given it does feel underappreciated.
Agreed with pretty much everything you said, man. I understand why a lot of people love this version of Slappy, but I’m just not digging it. The personality is off.
@@michaelgoosebumpsfan9934 I agree, something is a bit off about this Slappy and just sits there, he doesn't walk! Like c'mon, what good is Slappy if he's just sitting there? I do like the gas-lighting that this Slappy does but he needs to get up (we'll see if he does in Night of the Living Dummy II); that would be more scary!
As of right now, this is the best episode. And I rather enjoy this one. I think Slappy looks so creepy, dude! The British accent doesn’t bother me, I actually kinda like it lol. One thing that does bother me though is how Ephraim gets Slappy. Darkwell the sorcerer’s first name is Ephraim… and since this dude was a magician that ends up doing real magic/spells makes me think he’s supposed to be Darkwell… If he’s Darkwell then he should’ve created Slappy instead of buying him from a shop… Other than that, it’s pretty good.
Also: I’ve heard about the movie Magic awhile back but I watched it over the weekend for the first time, and it’s great! Corky is Hopkins character and Fats is the dummy, btw. Good movie!
See, I was thinking that I wasn’t crazy, when it came to the Ephraim not creating Slappy thing lol. Wasn’t into that change, either lol.
Also: I’m so glad someone got to see Magic for the first time! It’s such a good flick, and creeps me out so badly lol. Really thought about reviewing that, sometime, on my adult horror book channel.

@@michaelgoosebumpsfan9934 RL Stine is known for his monsters but usually has some of the blandest characters anyways so its totally understandable to forget names of the kids.
So the prelude for Slappy Beware & Slappy's Nightmare are virtually identical except that the story in Slappy's Nightmare starts much farther back than Slappy Beware which states when Slappy is being made by Mahar (which is going by Darkwell now) in cottage in America & has already escaped from Mr. Wood and Kanduu in Slappy's Nightmare prelude. Kanduu is not mentioned at all in Slappy Beware.
However, before you go saying that episode 6 made a reference to Slappy's Nightmare, that's not even correct since not only was Slappy made and brought to life by Mahar after he left England but that Mr. Wood was also made by Mahar because Kanduu never made any of the dummy's since he was a sorcerer & not a carpenter. So if anyone's name should be on the box is Mahar or rather Darkwell, sine that was Mahar's stage name. You cant even say the case could be Mr. Wood's since Mahar was performing with Mr. Wood before he ever met Kanduu. That's not a canon reference, that's a *uck up lol.
Magic is a great movie however I haven't seen it in many years so I will give it try tonight and see how I feel about it now that I'm older. However if you haven't seen Devil Doll or the Great Gabbo your missin out ;)
@@michaelgoosebumpsfan9934 So I watched Magic last night & the movie is better than I remembered it for sure! It's original in that Fats isn't live but the movie at time tricks you into thinking he is.
All the classic dummy movies make the ventriloquist appear to be crazy but the dummy is always reviled to be alive. However, Magic does the opposite and leans heavy on split personality disorder and has a great plot twist at the end :)
I think Magic might be the only movie that actually has a crazy ventriloquist which makes it very special & not suitable for comparison by other dummy movies. However, it's quality is definitely up there with the 3 other movies I mentioned earlier.

Bruh, that embarrassing argument over whether a girl should jump to her death or not over being a "strong, independent woman" was absolutely awful. I don't know what kind of drugs this writing group was on, but it might be one of the worst episodes of the entire season. Nothing at all happens the entire time lol.

Theres also a part that happens very quickly but its when mr bratt (name is kinda implying something imo) is saying pain makes him go back to his body. And the first person to punch him was the same girl who ends up going into the abyss lol
Also after watching episode 7 i remembered a character we hadnt seen in forever and its isaiahs? Gabriel? I forget his name but his girlfriend. She saw diddle boy in the woods just like everyone else did in the days after the party. Yet her involvement has been non existent. I dont want to call it. But i wouldnt be suprised if that girls mom or dad was the actual murderer and thats the "goosebumps" twist. And thats why she has been excluded from the group so to speak for that reveal. Maybe im missing something tho

Not to mention lucas randomly starts liking margot i think who has always had a crush on her neighbor isaiah but that shit went out the door when lucas kissed her and whats worse is the entire lucas/margot thing went no where its never mentioned again, and margot and isaiah is never mentioned again. Lol like they cant even keep the relationships going in their own show. The more i think about it the more the show pisses me off lol
