I've been in the DC area three years, and I agree with you. I remember striking up a conversation with a woman in Target. She asked where I worked. When I told her, she yelled, "Who did you know to get that job!" I was like, "No one. I applied online." She seemed shocked and offended.

Hey hey hey. Thanks so much for watching. Listen, I have had those types of conversations before and it's so annoying and the questions are so invasive. I don't mind people trying to get to know me, but there is a way you ask. It just seems like they are trying to get in your business. It's really weird. So, I maintain military silence on a number of things. It's best that way. Lol. Thanks again!

As much as I love my city, all of these are on point. Due to the great colleges, political activity, and companies that work closely with the govt (lobbyists, health care policy, defense contractors) it attracts the best of the best. We attract a lot of people who are used to being the top of class from where they are, and the area is highly competitive. Pull all that together and you get this overwhelming pretentiousness. It's super expensive, super competitive, and everyone knows everything, lol. The camera thing is legit too...walking in front of the Secret Service HQ is like I know you're scanning my brain lol. But goodness I love the dedicated green space and parks. It's easy to get away from the city without leave the city

Hi MeliLew. These are all terrific observations. I think you are spot on with your assessment. Lol at scanning your brain. Since I did this video I have really fallen in love with the city. It has its flaws, but trust me, everywhere does. It really feels like home now. 🏡 I was soooo in love with NYC. But, after a recent trip there, that changed. You should watch that video. I apologized to DC. 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks so much for watching.

Yea In LA it’s similar but more about entertainment industry or money. In Dc it’s more about the business of politics and career advancements. I guess the world , in certain areas ; people just interact like it’s business hours , always networking. Particularly cities with social industries that can help a lot like Dc or La. Career cities ya know.

What you are saying about DC and Northern Virginia is so true. People even ask about high school. If you didn’t go to one of the expensive prep schools in the area, conversation abruptly ended.
. I grew up in Alexandria (not Old Town.) After college, I moved to San Francisco for a job. NO ONE ever asked me where I went to school

The job market is extremely competitive in DC. You didn't say what your work background is...like what your college major was. So, I don't know which industry you are in. Hi Lauren. Thank you so much for everything you said. I grew up wanting to live in NYC. Ever since my godfather took me on a trip there I have been enamored. I would go back repeatedly to the city with him, alone and with family members. There is something so special about the look and feel of the city. I always felt like I was on some big movie set. But, the last time I went really was a shocker with the amount of filth and homelessness. I don't ever recall the city being that bad. It's unfortunate because New York held such a special place in my heart. I love Chelsea and I stayed in Harlem (135th st) for a few months. I enjoyed Harlem a lot!!!! I'm not the status type so what you do is not that important to me, nor which side of the river you live on. Driving is so crazy I just don't. Also, the main reason it is so expensive is because we have a Mayor who likes nice things and wants all the nice, new, expensive things in "her" city.
