    This is just ridiculous and disgusting! Each generation is just getting worse! My daughter has been dealing with a bully in her ballet class since August. I reached out to management more than once and my last straw was when the bully (9 years old by the way) slapped my daughter in the face right in front of me!! I’m flabbergasted the dance studio decided to just now put her on a “probation” period with saying they never saw any of this 🙄. I just sent the owner a super long email last night. Also, come to find out another mom from a kid in the class had multiple issues with the bully last year and had talked to them and thought it had been dealt with. My daughter is not stepping another foot through their door!

    i recently listened to podcast version of your videos, and just wanted to say i'm one of those non-christian viewers :) i'm ex-catholic and honestly your channel is very helpful in de-construction and prevented me from falling into the unhelpful mindset of 'everyone who believes in christian god in a bad person' cause it's untrue. my decision to leave was motivated by religious trauma and catholic church continously failing at taking accountability. yea, living in catholic country where catholics loudly support 2020 abortion ban is hard, but i can't be mad at honest folks who find solace in god. there's good and bad people everywhere

    Win for the week: I've been an apartment manager for about 10 years. It's been good, but this week my father came to me with an offer to go into business together buying a franchise. We have a few we are looking at and we haven't chosen yet, but it felt really good for my dad to have enough confidence in me to want to make such a big commitment together.

    19:07 I am not a lawyer. And this situation is tragic regardless, but sounds suspicious of people in power acting above the law. That being said, I would not let my teen, or advise *anyone* , to speak to the police without legal representation. The American legal system often gets it wrong and do-gooders can inadvertently ensnare themselves; the legal system is not kidding when they warn that your words can be used against you. (Note that they never say they will be used to *help* you.) In closing, many lawyers say: You need a lawyer if you’re guilty, but *especially* if you’re innocent. I just wanted to share this because in my younger years, I was under the false impression that only guilty people have lawyers and don’t “cooperate” with the cops. I also understand the privilege of affording a lawyer, as the American legal system is designed for the rich (as I suspect these teens parents are).
    ETA: referring these cases for charges is a good sign that public pressure has worked. Without the teens talking and incriminating themselves, it also likely took more time to gather evidence and form a chargeable case against them. Video evidence is quite damning so, if the DA wants to be re-elected, they will likely proceed.

    I'd never heard of this. Of course I don't pay much attention to AZ news because it's mostly complaining about the exaggerated border problems, but I do pay attention locally. I asked my teen; she didn't know about it either. Kids aren't talking about it in Ahwatukee. This sounds like a bunch of elite parents who are used to getting away with stuff, and they'll pay big $ to keep their kids out of trouble. If that happened in Phoenix- every school would cooperate, it'd be all over the news and people would be in an uproar about justice.

    Do never, ever, under any circumstances talk to the police without a lawyer present. It doesn't matter whether you are innocent or guilty. Just keep your mouth shut until you have a lawyer present.
    The police is allowed to and will lie to you. They don't care for the truth. They care about closing the case. And they will go down the path of least resistance.
    So, cooperate with the police. But only with the help of a lawyer.

  • @m.rivers9201
    @m.rivers9201 6 месяцев назад +6

    Why would anyone be shocked parents would not allow their own children to convict themselves by cooperating? Every interrogation video I see is filled with people in the comments advising the people being interviewed to say nothing and tell the cops to pound sand to avoid accountability. Like the goal is to get away with whatever you can vs owning up to your actions. With that being considered of course the parents will shut it all down, even if it means their kid got away with murder.

    • @BHaney
      @BHaney  6 месяцев назад +9

      I know it happens all the time, I guess it still just baffles me that anyone would be ok with their child doing this. Like I get that the kids were partying and drinking so maybe the parents don’t want them to get in trouble for that, but that isn’t what the police care about here. The only reason to refuse to cooperate would be to cover for yourself of someone else who is guilty and morally I just can’t reconcile that.

    WFTW: It was my b-day Monday (New Year's Day), so I got to celebrated a bit with my wife. Also, I finished a portrait for a friend (pencil and charcoal), and have been working on a watercolor portrait of a co-worker.
    Seems to me that we have a bunch of over-privileged, bored kids who think they're "untouchable" because Mommy and Daddy will fix their problems, or swear that "It could NEVER be MY child!", so they feel they can get away with anything.
    The judge in this investigation has to start getting tougher and make it mandatory for these kids to submit to questioning! Those parents are impeding an official investigation by refusing. If the police have more than a reasonable cause that a kid needs to be questioned, that should override a parent's permission!
    It seems to me that a bunch of well-to-do Chads and Karens are going to go through a lot of pearl-clutching and hand-wringing, lamenting the fact that they couldn't be bothered to properly parent their kids, after some of these kids get charged and sentenced.
