I just embroidered a tiger paw on a really stretchy beanie, I used Pellon tear away underneath, laid some Pellon 541 wash-n-gone on top, and used my 4x4" standard hoop with my Brother PE535. Regular ORGAN75/11 sharp point needle. No glue. No tape. No fancy magnet hoops. After rinsing away the top stabilizer, it looks beyond perfect. You don't need a $10K machine for this, you guys.
Any reason for not hooping the solvy? We always hoop it with the hat sandwiched between the backing and the solvy, and make our centering markings on the solvy.
Thanks for this video.Did you flip the design? If so on the machine it wasn’t showing that you flip it? Can you make a video how you loaded the design and flipped it from start to finish?
In this video, since this beanie folded over, we embroidered the hat inside out. This way there was no need to flip the design on the panel. If you go to minute 3:05 Laura goes over how the placement works on this beanie to get it the right way up when you flip the beanie.
Thank you for making this easy an easy to understand tutorial. The only think I'd ask is if you'd put what kind tearaway you are using (weight, etc...).
Hi there, thanks so much for watching. This is a great question to ask in our Facebook support group, Embroidery and Custom Apparel Mastery. No matter how I set up my yapoon beanie (spelling) same style as your other video...it stretches like crazy. I have put alot of terial magic and tearaway plus topper on the hoop, put the beanie on top of that with enough pins and then 2 layers of topper. It either stretches all over no matter how careful I am and then another jammed up with my bobbin area and underneath had a huge rat's nest of thread. What can I do to make it work? 5x7 hoop and design is 4.50 wide. I used the shorter end of the hoop. TIA for your help
tear away, I thought for knits you have to use cutaway...... my grandson will be happy, he hates when I use cutaway on his stuff...... Merry Christmas...... :)
Hi Jean, you can use both, but if you do go with tear away just make sure you use a thick sheet or double up on the tear away backing if it's not that thick. The benefits of using tear away is that the backing won't show on the other side afterwards compared to cutaway, which is what we wanted. Thanks for asking! Merry Christmas :)
Thanks for your feedback! We do lots of different videos with various tips and tricks and ways to do things, embroidery isn't black and white and you can embroider however works best for you!

For this particular type of knit, it was stable enough to use a 75/11 sharp. However, when you have a thinner less stable knit fabric, it's best to use a ball point, either a 75/11 or 70/10 ball point.
Ricoma Embroidery Machines I have a brother PR600/1050 entrepreneur. I was trying to do a logo that has been digitized for a hat and it’s stitches out perfectly on a structured hard but once I put it on an unstructured the small letters over the front seam get all crumbled. I put double backing on it as well but I just can’t seem to figure out why it’s doing that
I would suggest putting more stabilization as unstructured hats are more flimsy. Also try reaching out to your dealer for support and additional assistance

That took so long to do, I can hoop these hats in about 5 seconds using mighty hoops. We put topping under top of frame this does away with having to use the sticky tape and holds the hat stable. Not the best way to hoop if you have 100’s to embroider.
Hi Terry, hooping the topping is another way of doing it. It's just a matter of preference. If you have a large order and are worried about production time, hooping the topping (especially with mighty hoops) will save you some time. Thanks for your input :)
HI , AS I AM THE EMBROIDERY BUSINESS FOR NEARLY 44 YEARS IT WILL BE MUCH BETTER IF YOU CAN HOOPED THE WATER SOLUBLE FILM TOGETHER WITH BEANIE THAT WILL GREAT .THKS ISAAC
You can apply for our 0% financing options and won't need to put any money down, pay as little as $130/month, and one embroidery order can cover that cost and it'll pay for itself! Now that's as close to free as you can get! learn more from our product specialists here: ricoma.com/us/contact-us
I would be very careful purchasing a trademarked logo. I would ask for proof that the seller has the right to sell the design. It is illegal to create a trademarked design and sell it. Aka digitizing for embroidery. People are selling items they do not have the right to. The Government is cracking down on this and say you sell your goods even at a craft show they can confiscate everything and fine you. One fb group I belong to had this topic come up. The person was selling trademarked items with sports logos and disney characters. They got 20,000 in fines and they took all the items. It was not even a huge craft fair. Just a warning.
Rule of thumb is to only sell your own original work or work that you have the license and right to sell. It's always a good idea to ask and make sure before buying designs to embroider. Having said that, It's more than ok to use designs for personal use as a hobby so long as it's not being monetized.
It would be nice if she would speak clearly, slower and a little louder. Most of the tutorial she was speaking so rapidly that I couldn't understand her. Otherwise, this would have been exactly the tutorial I needed.
Sure would have been just the thing you needed too see cos u got a embroidery machine and all this equiptment sat there to do it but dont know how to use it? Its pretty freakin clear cut out a shape prepare the hat for machine stick shape to the hat trace in the machine take off when compleated put plastic over the hat put back in machine and wa la in laymans terms haha
Great video - I want to knit my own custom beanies and do custom embroidery on it and this video is helping me see how I can actualize my vision

Just stopping through to say Hello from a fellow crafter. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with our community.
You are so welcome
Love your videos. Would be awesome if in every video you mentioned quickly what needle size you’re using for the project and thread size.
Thanks! No problem, we'll start mentioning the needles being used and thread size on future episodes.
Thank you for that tutorial I’m new at Emboridery with my 10 needle machine.
Hi Lana! We are so glad this was helpful, and congrats on taking this step. Let us know if you ever need help :)

You can use a 75/11 sharp needle!

I need to learn cuz I'm knitting a beanie hat as a gift and will embroider their name initial 😂
Let us know how it comes out!
i think you should have put the solvee when you frame it in this way the chances are it will jumble and ruin the design
What tension do you use for this fabric?
How much is it to do that?
What’s the clear paper
That is the Aqua topping we use to prevent stitches from sticking into the fabric

Not a Yankees fan, but I appreciate this video. Thanks.

You are so beautiful with an amazing smile dope video
Thank you so much.
anybody have the best way to make the stitching softer on the inside of the beanie so the embroidery doesn't irritate the head / forehead?

What is the meaning of NY logo on the cap
Hi Mark, it's just the logo of a baseball team (New York Yankees).
Ficou linda
obrigado!
The voice is very low
I love your video. I am having a VERY hard time getting a hat embroidered on an unstructured hat. Is there an email u have or number to call.
We have plenty of videos on our channel showing how to embroider on both unstructured and structured hats!
I saw it but still can’t figure out. I was going to send you a picture of what’s happening so maybe you can help me explain it Or fix it
What machine do you have?

Thanks for the suggestion!
Tearaway stabilizer is NOT going to stabilize stretchy fabric. Period.
would cutaway work better?
how can i get ricona embroidery machine for free ? lol haha

I don't see a ring😏😏
This isn’t really a good how to embroider a beanie video if you’re using a giant, probably very expensive machine most people don’t have.
Well luckily our machines are very affordable. Specially with our 0% financing for qualifying customers.

She didn't sell it = No crime committed. It is not illegal to digitize or embroider any design. The crime is solely once it is sold.
You're fucking cute

Dottie Cummings i don't see why you don't understand!! She speaks clearly!
You can also try and reduce the speed of the video. Try and see if that helps.
