Congrats, this is the most gaddamn straight to the point tutorial on almost all youtube! I reviewed it 1, 2, 3 and more times and finally understood many principles and could practice many settings. Tanke!
Dude this came exactly as I was making an explosion for a scene. I decided to use a stock explosion for time purposes but I wanted to see how I could make particles shoot out from the explosion and I think this would work well for that. Very well explained and articulated video. Thank you!!
This was very helpful; thank you! However, I am lost on a few things: 1) So, at 13:07, I don't understand what you clicked to get rid of the particles in the viewport area. 2) When it's being rendered, how exactly do you make it to where the domain doesn't show up as a solid object? Other than that, this was very well articulated. Cheers!
1) You can go into Modifiers > ParticleSystem and check OFF Realtime and Render to get rid of the particles -- or you can just check the eye and camera icon in the outliner 2) The domain should turn transparent as soon as you start creating the material for it shown at 13:50 Hope this helps :D
Hi Super cool tutorial, Thanks for Sharing. Could you please help me with the Rendering process , Inside Blender I can see super cool Fire after Bake, but When I try rendering as Png sequence with Alpha only the geometry mesh shows up and no Fire .
How can you move it around after baking? I already made a scene and just need to move the explosions in, but the cubes all sit in the middle of the scene.
Great tutorial. Have a question though. When I do the viewport render, the domain bound box shows in the render. How do I remove bounding domain cube from render but keep the explosion showing in the final viewport render?
@@Sirlopsteropster Turned off render icon to turn it off but the bounding box does not go away in the render. Any other suggestions on how to remove the bounding box?
thank you for the video ! but after 12.24 my project still looks circles.. there is no orange color and soft smoke.. how can i see that expotion in viewport ?
This tutorial is excellent and well explained. However, my Pc spec is similar to yours and have 64GB of memory have a RTX 4070 and makes my machine crawl and halt. Are there settings I really need to change for optimal results as you appear to have no issues. Any help appreciated.
Is there a way to make the cube around the explosion invisible? I want to put the camera right in the middle of the explosion but the cube blocks everything outside from the camera view.
I wanted to implement the explosion into an animation but i get a lot of weird "glitches?" before the explosion starts although the start and end frames are correct
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I made a great explosion with my own touch to it. The only thing I got confused about is when he said he was switching from cycles to Eevee. I just need to know how I can export the video from cycles to get the result that I see in my viewfinder thank you in advance to anyone who can help!!!😄 incredible tutorial by the way I followed it step-by-step, and it worked so well.
I would like to export this but with a transparent background. I found that when I look at the scene in the 3D port with rendered view on, it shows the transparent background. But as soon as i F12 render it with Film-Transparent on and PNG as my outputformat, it does not render with alpha anymore.
When selecting the Flow Source, I can't seem to select the Particle System, the Particle System for the Ico Shpere doesn't show at all on the selection.
Hi im new to blender and can someone here answer me this....ive managed to create a scene where a rocket particle dies upon hitting a wall. If i want an explosion to occur at that point do i have to have a separate particle system for that and can that be automatically spawned when blender detects the collision?
seems like a great animation but I got stuck at the point where you went to the front view without explanation on how to get there. It seems like you pressed a key but I have no idea which one :D
*watches Corridor Crew's episode on why CG explosions look so bad... finds this tutorial... >.> About how to do the simple side of explosions :)... After you finish with this admittedly great tutorial, please start exploring how to make them look better and more realistic if you actually use this in anything but hobby work. (Just don't want anyone taking this with them to a pro job and thinking this is all there is, though again great work :) )
i think the workflow is fine for professional use, just use references and spend more time tweaking particles to form your desired shape, other than that i guess increasing the resolution of domain (both spacial and temporal) will also make the explosion look more realistic
I’ve never done something like that but my best guess would be to use dynamic paint to project a mask unto the floor surface…then use that mask to apply the powder texture
I've got an important question: How can I make the explosion less cubish? As I watched the final result I saw some cube edges. In other blender tutorials there were those too. But not in yours! How could I fix that? Edit: Is it because of the resolution division? Yes, I think so...
This is a bit long. Yes, because of the resolution divisions. Think of a subdivision surface modifier. Every time you increase the divisions each face gets subdivided. Same principle with simulations. Every time you increase the resolution, each of those "cubes", or voxels, gets subdivided to add more detail to the fire and smoke. So the resolution divisions are exactly why you have a cubeish sim. Does that help?
hey does anyone here know why all my cubes are glowing when i add them. i only wanted 1 to glow but now any new ones also glow and i have no idea how to stop it without removing all the glow even from the fist one one.
Why does mine never look like the end product of the video same thing happened to my donut. I'd say my explosion looks 75% of what is the intended outcome. Not terrible but not great either but for a new blender user I guess not bad.
@@Yourmom81768 i just downloaded the embergen but unfortunatly there is very little tutorial. I wasted about 10 hours. Most of the tutorial on the internet doesnt show everything i followed the tutorial exactly
This is a terrible tutorial. He doesn’t explain anything at all. He just tells you what to do. “Set this number to this. Set this number to that…” He’s not teaching anyone anything. At best, you walk away with the same render as him. At worst, it doesn’t work at all, because you’re in a different version of blender, have different prefs, or any number of things. No one watching this walks away with the ability to create their own render.
What do these settings mean? Give people a sense of scale when plugging random numbers in. How do you get the domain box to not show up in the render? When I hide it, it hides the whole simulation. The simulation disappeared entirely when I changed render engines and device. Why? Whenever I render it, it just renders a cube, even if it’s hidden, or it renders nothing at all. WTF is wrong with this software? Why does it make everything 10 times harder to accomplish?
Finally someone who does blender tutorials who actually explains every step!
Worked perfectly in Blender 4.0, as of Feb 6, 2024.

I think for the material, using the blackbody intensity is best for cycles. It gives the most realistic fire color.

Let's say you want colored powder explosions. How would you get the powder to collect on the floor and stay there? I mean without fire.
