Btw you can use dynamic paint with a vertex group to seperate the part of the building that collides with the ufo instead of actually selecting it manually. Its usually more accurate and less time consuming
@@matthewward1346 just add dynamic paint to the object that is to be destroyed. Set the output to a vertex group. Make your collider object into a dynamic paint brush. Bake it until the end of your animation and then apply the dynamic paint on the destroyed object on the last frame. This will bake the vertex group permanently.
Instead of having to explode each chunk manually you can add a ramp/gradient texture on that one chunk in the particle Textures settings. Then just use UVs or coordinates to line it up with the saucer's direction of movement. It'll save loads of time. Don't forget to set your particles to an ABSOLUTELY INSANE number (or use children idk) EDIT: If you want even more control you can put in a blank image texture and draw on it with increasing opacity for each frame (or decreasing opacity, you'll figure it out).

It's great to see how the fake CGI explosions still struggle with the masses of random events that happen in a real explosion. You will always struggle to make it looks as good as real.
@@ameerkhan3257 Perhaps they meant "great" in the sense that it might force discerning motion picture producers/directors to not completely abandon pyrotechnics and practical special effects in favor of complete CGI all the time; something which I am inclined to agree with. Still, odd for them to phrase it in such a backhandedly disparaging way. Iridesium has created great shots which showcase how effective Blender can be as a tool to address the myriad of details and seemingly-random events in a destruction sequence.
You wouldn't have the power to iterations and changing the natural stuffs because of your clients with natural explosion hence practical explosion are not really practical for VFX but more for just refrence and this isn't the most professional quality either in the first place.
