Yep. I haven't touched blender since high school. I am now very tempted to reinstall it and see where we go from there. This guy's tutorials are both awesomely informative and wildly inspirational.
Outstanding tutorial. I love how you constantly show problems then the magical setting that solves it. I tried making an explosion tutorial in 2020 and got 6 weeks deep before hitting two critical bugs that stopped me finishing it (and they're still not fixed!). Glad to see someone stepped up to deliver a thorough mantaflow tutorial to bring more people to the simulation side of Blender.
Thank you kindly Andrew!! You’ve taught me so much! I remember following your large scale explosion progress in 2020, and I still have no idea how to do explosions in Blender. I’m just really happy we’re getting Cycles X, making at least rendering much more available!
Excellent tutorials from both of you guys, I only use 3d animation every now and then and always require a tutorial to do what I need to do. So for you both to share your knowledge with us for free is amazing. Thank you
After years and years of people explaining Simulation in Blender. This Sir, is probably the most intuitive and beginner friendly tutorial of them all. You not only make people understand in the easiest way possible but also inspire the heck outta me to bake some nice fresh simulations. Thanks again Polyfjord.
Inspiring is quite an understatement, I felt like I had a MASSIVELY INSPIRED Matrix Mind Blown Moment !! Like WHOOAAAAAAA XD THANK UUUUUU POLY !!!!!!!!!
This guy is literally the blender master. His work is absolutely stunning, The music, the editing, the content, the way he explains stuff. Absolutely the best on RUclips.
Matter of taste, if there is music, I don't even try. I will not be able to focus on the explanations. I really wanted to watch it but.... Too sensitive to music.
I just need to stop for a second 5 minutes into the video to drop this comment.... this has been an incredibly well-explained tutorial on fire sims. If you haven't already I would love to see you chat about water sims. Keep up this masterful work. Update: I finished the tutorial, not do I understand fire sims, but the compositor . . . quality tutorial! Update #2: end montage is brilliant
I have been learning Blender for a little more than a year and have done so with the benefit of you and some of the seasoned professionals (who I note have already started to comment below). This tutorial is absolutely sensational. I love your enthusiasm, your skill and ease of communication, not to mention what is a fabulous result. Thank you so very much.
sometimes you feel like you need to take a Blender break. Other times you feel like you're going to come back to it. You just created this moment for me.
After months and years of trying to figure out how to make high resolution fluid simulation without cranking up the resolution slider, finally found it! Thanks a lot for investing such great deal of efforts in these tutorials
During the “No smoke without fire” introduction, I could very quickly see this as being used to animate sea life, spirit orbs, fire - duh - and many other things for games or animations. Getting my first real good computer ever this coming week, so I will be saving this tutorial as I can now FINALLY truly utilize Unreal Engine 5, Blender and Cinema 4D to their fullest potential. So excited, thank you, Polyfjord!
Oh my god. I have been using blender for over 5 years, but never heard about the possibility to composite without re-rendering. That's absolutely fantastic. Thank you!
The only people that have disliked this video are the other blender tutorial gurus who can't get even 10% as good as this! This is gold! I appreciate not just the informative side of this tutorial but the way you keeping the viewer engaged with the b rolls, end parts, music, side notes, and cutting the fluff off... pure value!
Hot damn! Man you're killing it lately. Such a quality content you create, incredible. I can imagine that this is a lot of work. Your passion is something to admire. Hats off to you! 10/10
I tapped for the thumbnail alone but stayed because your pacing in the tutorial is phenomenal. Your passion does not get in the way of making a clear explanation. Very well done
"I have spent 5 weeks working on this smoke simulation." Haven't we all? haha Love your work. I favor it most out of all the other Blender guys out there.
I live for the advanced part of every video! Always such a joy to watch them! And the whole explanation was so nice too. Simulation stuff is not the easiest thing to understand but damn, you made it pretty easy and fun!
I'm sooooo glad I watched this. No need for fire at this stage. but hell it's packed to the brim with useful info (especially the compositor which I struggle understanding),... It may have taken you 5 weeks but thank you SO MUCH for doing so.
Best 3D Artist dude in RUclips and thankfully devoted to tutoring other people! Thank you again! We appreciate your hard work! ps: Will be so cool to see more and interesting audio vizualizers with Geometry nodes
I have scoured the Internet for Blender tutorials, but I cannot find better tutorials than Polyfjord. He is such a good teacher, and highly recommend watching his amazing videos. Thank you, Polyfjord for your genius!!!
Yeah this is just a insane tutorial. I think even if you would to have never even touched blender you could follow this! A little slower but still! I loved it!
My god following your physics tutorial 3weeks ago and now i got new one! feels like surprising gift at late nights!! Tomorrow will be happy day for sure. sry for broken eng again if i'm wrong!
YOU deleted the default cube!? Where is the real Polyfjord?!? Pd: I can't thank you enough for the amazing amount of knowledge I've learned from your videos, the quality is incredible and the accessibility even greater, huge thanks to you man♡♡ I'm already waiting for the next one :))
Video is absolutely cool and useful, thanks alot. The "advanced part" though felt like a situation when you sitting in class, paying attention, teacher like "7+8=15, clear?". You like "ab-so-lutely". And then you blink and that triple differential equation appear. And please, make less references to seconds, I've got only laptop with 3050 and that sounds more promising that it should ;)
wow, that was crazy good no one has broken down smoke simulations so simply like that before. thank you 🙏 Another idea for a tutorial... can you please show how you make HDR Renders? I have tried, but there is such a lack of information on it, let alone info for doing it in blender. Thanks!🙏
Thanks!!! Hmmm... Right now working with HDR video seems too dependent on relatively expensive external hardware, so I still haven't figured out a good way to integrate that into a tutorial that has value for most people
@@FinalMotion Here is the best video I have found on the topic: ruclips.net/video/c3yhHcL6h-M/видео.html As you can see it requires both a separate 10-bit HDR display and an external capture and playback device like the UltraStudio 4K Mini
@Polyfjord AHHHH ok thanks! I thought that since it was generated footage, just exporting it as a HDR Compatible format (Like EXR) and telling adobe/davinici that it is HDR Content, it would let you export/upload it. or at least let you play it back on ur PC (if you have a 10 bit monitor that is) But thanks, i didn't realize how much went into it, i just wanted to make some sweet renders like you did for your HDR Montage ❤Thanks!
4:32 I'm currently having a small issue where the fireball is large for the first couple of seconds and then goes to the scale I chose. I'm new to blender animation so I'm probably just doing something wrong but I am quite confused
This Tutorial leaves you a aspace to explore things by yourself and parallely helps you not to lose yourself, can't describe it, maybe it is like leaving your zone of comfort
If I wasn't already looking for a good blender smoke tutorial, that intro alone would hook me. The whole process is so clear! Can't wait to see what I'll make. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm just 1 min in and wow, the amount of work just for the video beginning is crazy. Sounds fit perfectly, so many examples, real life video at the start. Damn.
I know this is an older tutorial, but its still relevant. You literally just crammed ten years of me learning this myself into one video. Hahaha nicely done.
Great tutorial. Lots of things I didn't know until now. Especially for getting the glow of the flames. Thank you for doing this video to help others out with Blender and a BIG Thank you for not having annoying music playing when your doing your video :D Makes it easier to hear you to follow instructions.
This is one of the best simulation tutorials I have seen, I have shared the link to the video in the facebook blender beginners group and people love it about 180 likes in the last 4 hours, I cannot wait for a new video
I decided to take on a ball of smoke simulation a day before this video came out, and it helped me explain ALL of the questions i had! I never understood a thing about the gas fluid situation before this and now, thanks to you, it all makes perfect sense. thank you!! :)
Fantastic tutorial, thank you for sharing this gem! For those who couldn't make the fire appear in th viewport like I did, consider that this quick smoke action creates cube with liquid effector and applies same effector to the selected object. To achieve the fire emition you have to change fluid type to "Flow" on your active object, not on the cube.
You’re overqualified for this. Seriously! The industry needs your energy and skill. I hope some studio opens a checkbook and recognizes the quality. 🙏🏽
That's definitely one of those "can't believe I'm learning this for free" kind of tutorials 🔥
And applying it in a free software. #BlenderIsBigTechToMe

I'm day 3 in and I could follow this. Brilliant stuff. Definitely taken me 4+ hours to get through this 40min video though haha!
Nicey. Well explained, nice looking fireball. Fire mages approve.
Just seeing the first 10 seconds of the video made me leave a like! Really awesome, looking forward to what's next ^^
I’ve been waiting for a good tutorial about smoke/fire sims
It finally arrived
37 minutes - thats how you make a smokey ball.
2 minutes - thats how you animate a character with a burning sword.
You're hands down the best blender tutor to have existed on the planet.
quick tip : Just set the resolution of the smoke to be more than 4096 or smth like that and you will get a real life smoke sim ,how cool is that ?
Lol
