To keep the hard water from forming on your pan when you boil water, put a couple tablespoons of vinegar in your water. It will neutralize the minerals.
Yup. The buildup at the bottom of the pots should easily come off with a bit of vinegar. Also, if you don't want to put vinegar in your cooking water, you can cook normally and wipe the pots down with a bit of vinegar after every use.
@@csn583 Hmm. I'm from Austria, where the tap water has to fulfill pretty strict criteria. Ok after reading comments (I forget who) I relised the title. It’s just the date they released it. 2020 for the year 12 for the month. 16 for the day. And then the time. 14 is 2. Then 20 is minutes and 29 is seconds. There :)
I used to work at a handmade candle factory. We use metal molds with a hole in the bottom for the wick. After wicking the molds we would put a squirt of oil in the mold so the candle would release easier. We would do an initial pour and then later go back when the candles were about three-quarters of the way set and use a tool which was basically two metal rods and one rod would go on each side of the wick and we would shove it all the way down in the candle so there wouldn't be any air trapped below the surface when the top of the candle shrank. We would then do a second pour to level out the top. When the candles were completely set we would cut the knot off the bottom of the mold to release the wick and then pull on the wick at the top to pull the candle out of the mold. We then had a round chunk of metal that was tapered down the middle that would sit on a hot plate which was used to make the top edge of the candle look better. A bearing race would probably work for this purpose but since it wouldn't be as deep it would have to be close to the diameter of the candle so instead of one that's somewhat universal you would need a bearing race for each size candle. You just turn the candle upside down, center it to the metal ring and touch down on it. Since it's on a hot plate, it'll melt the edges to make it look nice. Dunno if anyone would find it worthwhile to go these extra steps for a nice edge but thought I'd throw it out there anyway. Oh and pouring at the correct temperature (and technically the room shouldn't be too cold either) reduces the chance of having noticable bubbles although bubbles may not really be an issue on smaller candles. We would pour candles up to about 12" tall and 4" across. And occasional batches of large coffee can sized candles that were about 6" tall. The size you usually see with 3 wicks. Different circumference candles may require different thickness of wick if there's a big difference between them. Jar candles may need a wired wick so it doesn't flop over after an extended amount of burning time which can cause a significant amount of melted wax on top. 2" of cotton can't stand on it's own in melted wax. Well, hope that helps a little. Thanks for the fun videos!
Candle wax itself does not spoil/go rancid. However, the wax colorant and scent can, but it typically takes a long time to do so (although 6 years is a *long* time...) And it all depends how you store them. For example, a candle stored in a clean space with a lid will take a whole lot longer than the little bits of wax in your lil glasses, which I assume were stored with no special storage.
1:07:12 okay full disclosure I’ve done candle crafting once and I just like watching videos from Royalty Soaps and I’ve watched her make candles before. I believe candles have to “cure” for a certain amount of time (like 2 weeks or so) to increase what is called the hot throw (how much the candle releases scent as it burns) and the cold throw (the scent when it’s not lit). I cured my candles for like 4 months (kept them fully sealed with lids on and the box closed)(they were for Christmas gifts and I made them in like September: I was too excited to wait) and they are SUPER strong. So aka don’t burn your candles immediately. Let them sit for a while before you light them
First two layers of Evans candles look like butterbaby shots. Really love katelyn's B&W candle! Love the different answers for making brown. Lol really you can just simplify it by saying..."mix the three primary colors together". Then adjust the hue from there. Just my opinion as a graphic designer and someone who mixed custom paint at Lowe's for customers. Only thing to keep in mind, is with paint it dries darker, wax dries lighter.
You guys are so fun! Some thoughts: Heat gun the top of a finished candle and add the pearlescent pigments. Make a horizontal molds, add color bands, add the wick halfway, then finish the last band standing up. You could do a square one and make it look like the color bands on a technical difficulties screen.

yes if u r wondering the floaty stuff in your hot boiling water is hard water AKA a little bit of limescale is in your water. we used to get the same stuff in our water till my husband put a filter system on our hot water heater which reduces the limescale/calcium buildup.

I like your videos 😊 We used to make a lot of candles when we were kids and I have two tips that might help somebody: - We used old food cans to melt the wax in and just took one tin for every color. So you don't have to clean anything between candles and it doesn't matter if the tins get messy. (Oh yes, and touched it with a cloth or oven mitten when it was hot --> safety) - Candles last/burn longer if you let them set up properly. The longer they sit, the harder the wax gets and you get more burning hours out of it so we usually waited 2-3 months before burning them. (this is true for paraffine and bee's wax, I'm not 100% sure if it applies to soy wax too).
@@animeloveer97 Probably depends on the cans? They are food safe and aluminium is heat resistant. The aluminium trays that are used for BBQs get a lot hotter than than the temperature you need to heat wax and are in direct contact with your food. I'd say, the fumes from burning paraffin wax candles are probably worse than that.
Candle making hack (from a friend who sells them)-use a set of takeout wooden chopsticks still attatched to eachother to hold the wick. Just slide it between the chopstick "arms" while the wax is cooling.
Had to look this up: "How to mix brown" - the short answer: The three primary colors (red, yellow, blue), when mixed, make brown. It is the ratio, as well as the specific pigments used, that determine the specific neutral color these hues will make.

I love that you both have done all this experimenting so I don’t have to. My husband and kiddo want to make candles together so this is awesome, love your videos!
So, when I tried (admittedly a very long time ago) I used shredded crayolas and it worked pretty okay. Not for soy, prolly, but if you are doing regular old paraffin wax it is a cheap method to color them. Just use the broken ones!
We used this stream and all your tips and tricks to make a 3 pretty large candles. One pastel pink blue and white cotton candy candle, a gradient of orange pumpkin spice candle and white creme and light brown creme brule candle. They came out fantastic thanks to you so we thank you for our house looking and smelling amazing!!!!
"Limestone! Make your teeth Strong!" I looked it up, and limestone is made of *Calcium* Carbonate, which is also used as a dietary supplement for calcium, so to the extend it'll be utilized by the teeth, yes, limestone will make your teeth stronger. Probably it'll just help with calcium deficiency, so if your calcium deficient, it might make your bones stronger over time.
The green candle with the large flame that was burning unevenly had a wick that was too tall and needed to be trimmed. You also have to trim down the woodwick to 1/8th of an inch or smaller.

I love that you both have done all this experimenting so I don’t have to. My husband and kiddo want to make candles together so this is awesome, love your videos!
I feel asleep during this and I had no idea what happend. 😄😄
brown is generally neutral dark orange, but you can make lots of different browns.
So, when I tried (admittedly a very long time ago) I used shredded crayolas and it worked pretty okay. Not for soy, prolly, but if you are doing regular old paraffin wax it is a cheap method to color them. Just use the broken ones!
Never use crayons in candles it can actually release toxins when it burns
Kind of seems fun. I have so many little glass jars from Smuckers hot fudge that I could use for candles!
"Our garage smells so good" I bet it smells like "serenity" by Jan
I think I actually want to make a candle exactly like Evans first design before he re-melted/mixed it. Really like the abstract look
I'm early enough to get the weird title, but never on time to get the stream on time. Dang it.
They streamed this on twitch, not sure if you knew or not
Same!
I thought evan's sunset candles were kinda a miss until you lit one, that was a perfect sunset! Looked like a real world sunset with the glow!
Those candles look like ghostbusters High-C Coolers haha
Probably it'll just help with calcium deficiency, so if your calcium deficient, it might make your bones stronger over time.
i'm grateful for the christmas music in the background. I'm feeling for christmas. i miss my family.
Glad I caught some of live.. was working so couldn't stay. But I live making candles is fun and frustrating lol. Love the videos
The green candle with the large flame that was burning unevenly had a wick that was too tall and needed to be trimmed. You also have to trim down the woodwick to 1/8th of an inch or smaller.
Your banana candle, could be a bandle..... Lol happy holidays to you 3 and your families.
Muscadine scent is my newest favorite scent I’ve found. I also love chai cinnamon! Someone I use to work with made wax melts and I mixed Cranberry Marmalade with Orange Blossom.
Also got my husband and I Words are Hards shirts from your merch for Christmas - looking forward to getting those!!! Y’all have been married for 6 years, we got married in 2014 too!! Love watching you two make stuff and your supervisor. We have two supervisors and a manager (2 cats and a dog).
I really like listening to your streams, I wake up early with anxiety sometimes and I play them to not feel so alone/background noise to distract myself.❤
The sweet sweet relief of the wooden stirrer. Thank you so much.
You guys should do a rainbow 🌈 candle! It would take a long time but soooo worth it 😊😊🙏🙏🤞🤞🙃🙃😌😌
I absolutely love this video! Two of my all time favorite channels together. They both have gotten me through so much!
I lit my own scented candle for the video. So when you talk about scents, my brain got confused.
I just want to say that Fridays are typically my worst day, and your videos always give me something to look forward to.
Katelyn: “take nothing I say seriously”
Also katelyn: “love you”
Me: 👀
the look on katlyns face when she saw that 75 kevins where certified! she was so surprised! ❤️❤️
katelyn is just the cutest little lady and i love her so much
When candle doesn't activate when you scream activate:🧐🤔
The green candles look like Hi-C Ecto Coolers. The Ghostbusters drink.
Qqa to all the Kevin's on this auspicious date of video.
Much love guys thank you. I love your enthusiasm and how you go about every thing.
Holo candles all I thought about was SimplyNaillogical. Where they recently did holo chocolate. Use that stuff to make holo candles. Sent it to them for Christmas :D
I love Christine the science Queen
On Christmas you should release a video of just your Christmas music so we can all listen to it while we’re opening our presents with our family.😸
Remember the pencil vid, can you try making school supplys like rulers with RESIN
We need a wax pouring song. Pouring time pouring time doo doo doo doo pouring time, lol
I saw Nerdy Crafter's video a few days ago. I was like "she got all my faves in here!" And I was really happy to see Evan and Kaitlyn along with Moriah Elizabeth, and many more. Very cute video!
wow it says for me that there are no views, no likes, no dislikes, no comments. cool!
So glad to see a new candle making endeavor
I'm watching this while wrapping 100 toy frogs for a gag gift. The saddest part is that I'm an hour and 111 minutes into the stream and I've only wrapped about half.
There is literally no one making me do this, except my self. Why am I like this.
