So when I was studying art we were always told to never use black to "darken" colours and instead use a small amount of the other primary colours... So to deepen red try using a very small amount of blue (and yellow) to get the desired colour. the reason we were told not to use black is because black is a shade (as opposed to a colour) and using it to darken primary colours muddies/ reduces the vibrancy of the original colour.
@@ChibiChula Black and white reduce the saturation of a colour, so white+red is pink, not a lighter red. Mixing a deeper red with yellow, and orange will lighten it, or even a bright green could do, without turning it pink. Same with darkening, use a deep brown, blue or green to make it darker. yes it will go brown-ish, but if you mix it properly you end up with a deeper darker red, without turning the saturation down with black.
@@ChibiChula You get brown when you have a similar proportion of the three primary colours but not quite the same. Especially if there is more yellow and magenta than cyan because well, brown is dark orange. If you mix the primary colours evenly you get black. Black and white store bought reduce the saturation as a side effect.

if youre worried about your canvasses warping from the paint, you can always pre paint the back sides of them with acrylic paint in the shape of a star. doing so helps counter the warping on the front side.

But I struggle to believe it's so much different than here in Norway. Here we live and breathe the same air side by side famous or not,and walking the same streets or shopping at the same grocery stores ect... but OFC we also have crazy people/stalkers in Norway. Why do I get a sense of accomplishment when I see that you posted a new video before my notifications tell me you posted a new video??? Also a big sense of "Yay!"
For the spin part... you can buy a single-level "lazy susan" for that, and place your "catcher" on top of it. I'd suggest something a bit sturdy, perhaps a storage box that isn't too deep, placing Velcro on top of the lazy susan and the bottom center of the storage box, so the box won't spin off the top of the lazy susan if you give it a bit too much spin force. Really do enjoy your videos! It really makes them more interesting, having at least two people conversing with each other as you debate merits and faults of the things you're reviewing.
Hello from Brazil! Congratulations on the 1 million subscribers, you guys deserve it!!!!!! I would like to suggest a video, you guys could create a hidden door / bookshelf at your home. I had a set of those exact crayola paint tubs as a kid, and I painted with them every week. They were actually pretty decent quality and lasted for like 6 years. I used every last drop.
Evan, your paint explanation was good (pigment+ medium = paint) I think what crayola wants with mixing the water in is to thin out the paint to make it easier to pour. So it replaces the flow medium that you would normally add to your paint
12:25 When I paint my 3D prints I spray some primer on, then I mix acrylic paint with water to thin it. I have to do an extra coat of paint but it leaves no brush strokes.

Regarding leveling the work bench - see if you can buy (or, maybe, get some off of old appliances) some leveling feet. You might have to add a bit of wood here and there under the lower shelf so the bench is 100% level, but then you add the leveling feet (maybe four each) on the front and back sides of the table. That way you can just level the bench out via the feet wherever you place your bench. A lot cheaper and (definitely) easier than trying to level the shop floor. // Instead of actual aprons - get some cheap-ish rain coats - cut off the hood, add ties so you can tie it in back and just wear them backwards. If the coats are white, tape the ties in place with white duck tape. The longer the rain coat the better.
Not 100% sure, but the number on the yellow box is probably an internal kit number/box part number. It would organize their product kits so if 2 activity kits use the same paints, they could reuse the "part" in making multiple kits. That might also be why they tell you to add the water - because if its used in multiple kits, not all kits call for flow-acrylic. It all comes down to production cost most likely! (source, I'm a packaging designer! (not for Crayola, though))
When I started doing flow acrylics about 6 years ago, there weren’t premade flow acrylics and we had to add water to regular body acrylic paint to get the consistency right, then add the Floetrol. So adding water is old school 😀
Dollar Tree has small canvases like that. They're 3/$1. But better quality in that they're wrapped canvas. They cone in various sizes. Plus each paint bottle by crayola is $1. Or buy the bigger bottle with 4x as much. You can use tempera & water. Or buy acrylic with DT's pouring medium there. Then just get some cardboard boxes from the dumpster with high sides & let the kids manually spin it. You can also get mini cups to hold paint in the party section.
I've bought small canvases at the dollar store before, they're not square, but they were still small enough that they would have fit in that thing. Also also, when I worked at Michael's craft store they had really small canvases that would fit as well
I think i prefer walmarts or micheals over dollar store canvases as they just seem... cheap idk the ones by where i live just seem to have purely the wrap around canvas that can be punctured easily and im quite clumsy so i prefer the sturdy canvases
@@kristrejo8801 oof that stinks, I was lucky with mine, they were the board wrapped canvases and not only pretty good quality but also came in packs of 2. I'm honestly surprised how nice they were, though they may have only had them in store once. Haven't checked to see if they still have them recently.
Oh my word, I never thought this day would come. Why, oh why did Evan have to look at the instructions. Are things getting too much Evan? Is this the beginning of the end? No, it's okay, I'm just in shock.... Please don't do it again.

I would love for you to do a project involving the making and decorating of your own art smocks/robes. And then you can get like, magnetic hooks to put up on one of the cabinets behind you. You can hang them up when not in use, a constant art piece
the reason those require prep is that is two of their exact same 'washable acrylic' sort of fingerpaint set just repacked for that kit. So they want you to add water because they're water soluble in order to thin them to pour, but it's a lot cheaper to just reuse a different line with just some super cheap plastic extras in the box.
I bought this kit for my kids. I was kind of expecting it not to work, but was thankful atleast for the "washable paint" Yeeeeaaaahhhhh, no. It washes from skin, but i've got piles of laundry (and bathroom wall) covered in paint that does not want to wash off
I love y’all, whenever I wanna laugh or get happy I watch y’all. I literally woke up from a bad dream this morning that made me incredibly sad and was like, I need to watch some even and katelyn lmao.
If you sliiiiightly torch the acrylic at the end it will pop the bubbles! Otherwise the bubbles create pinholes in the finished/dried painting! Also, the spin technique usually happens after you pour the paint on the canvas... not spin while pouring. Love watching your content! 😍🥰
Honestly you guys would make great parents. Testing out products for your kids to make sure that they’ll actually be worth it and fun 😂 I know that’s not the reason why you guys are doing this, but the thought is nice
Science adjacent part two: paint tends to contract when drying (esp. acrylic that is basically dehydrating plastic), so it causes the bound paint to pull on the surface in different places :D
i have to assume this is from before the Uncut channel creation? x) i got confused when seeing the length like "wow they edited a stream DOWN to 2 hours???" xDD
You should try setting the colander in different locations of the canvas. Also, you can make a lazy Susan base and use that to do spins of the canvas. Combine that with the colander and you could get interesting designs!
We did the Crayola Pour Art kits last week. It actually got a tiny bit of cells! Spinning wasn’t very good and the canvas curled when dried. It took a long time to dry, but maybe because I didn’t dilute the paint, because I didn’t read the instructions! Oops. The smell is just like all the Crayola paint. They had fun and the sets were gifts. Haha
The trick with metallic paints for pouring is that you need to make them thicker than your other paints, otherwise they'll just sink to the bottom and you'll never see them
Evan: Are you over 8 years old? Katelyn: yeah! *secretly hides the fact she low key has a 8 year old spirit* Edit: it’s not hate tho like she is just always so excited!
@@fynnanzminister It's very sad. Luckily I'm talented in that I can stay childish & still do a budget. Anybody else still watch kids movies just because they're light-hearted fun?
They do make small, square canvases that would fit this contraption. Crayola could easily put them into the kit in packs of 4 or 6, include more sticks for stirring, or small medicine cups that are marked. It wouldn't have to add to the price of the kit, or just buy your own pieces at the dollar stores and spend less.

So they want you to add water because they're water soluble in order to thin them to pour, but it's a lot cheaper to just reuse a different line with just some super cheap plastic extras in the box.
Requesting 24/7 Joobie cam!
I bought this kit for my kids. I was kind of expecting it not to work, but was thankful atleast for the "washable paint"
Yeeeeaaaahhhhh, no. It washes from skin, but i've got piles of laundry (and bathroom wall) covered in paint that does not want to wash off
" Do you have your crafting buddy" was said in my head with the voice of the sea turtle from finding nemo.
OMG I spent so much time obsessed with the main channel and now... AN ENTIRE PILE OF MORE CONTENT!
The blue green and white paint on their last painting really reminds me of toothpaste and I can't unsee it 😂
Same! I was wondering if anyone noticed 😂
Gentle heating with a hairdryer or heat gun pops air bubbles, and makes the silicone bubbles grow.
I love y’all, whenever I wanna laugh or get happy I watch y’all. I literally woke up from a bad dream this morning that made me incredibly sad and was like, I need to watch some even and katelyn lmao.
You should totally try the kids pottery wheel!
If you sliiiiightly torch the acrylic at the end it will pop the bubbles! Otherwise the bubbles create pinholes in the finished/dried painting!
Also, the spin technique usually happens after you pour the paint on the canvas... not spin while pouring.
Love watching your content! 😍🥰
43:50 Evan’s looks kind of like an alien ice cube 🧊 👽
Honestly you guys would make great parents. Testing out products for your kids to make sure that they’ll actually be worth it and fun 😂 I know that’s not the reason why you guys are doing this, but the thought is nice
Katelyn: Joobie likes...
Joob: haaaam
Evan: Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam
Make that into a shirt
Hey from Canada 🇨🇦 ya’ll have so much fun! So enjoy watching and learning ;)
Those thin canvases tend to warp just a heads up
Science adjacent part two: paint tends to contract when drying (esp. acrylic that is basically dehydrating plastic), so it causes the bound paint to pull on the surface in different places :D
All your explanations help me understand the process and make me want to try some of this stuff
I did it with crayola paint and I did add water. My daughter loves her painting. It did work.
i have to assume this is from before the Uncut channel creation? x) i got confused when seeing the length like "wow they edited a stream DOWN to 2 hours???" xDD
Hiiiiiiii u guys are my most fav channel! I clicked the notification as soon as I could to see your video!😃
You should try setting the colander in different locations of the canvas. Also, you can make a lazy Susan base and use that to do spins of the canvas. Combine that with the colander and you could get interesting designs!
Do a bigger (DIY) version of the tilt kit then use the paint that collects under it to do a pendulum pour ?
Does anyone else kind of forget that you are a camera? You two are so real it legit feels more personable! Much love from Missouri!
"Instructions, we don't need those!"
*10 minutes later* "I was gonna follow the instructions" I love you guys 😂😂😂
This was a super informative stream! I feel like I learned a lot more about acrylic paint in general
Haha
Try using one of the small wading pools and a big cake spinner, covering the spinner with foil for easy clean up
a lazy Susan could work, too. might be a little more work to get it to work, but it might.
Evan: “I want this last one to be OURS”
Also Evan: does it all himself and then squirts out a pink poop right on top
😂
The last one Evan did, made me remember those balloons we used to have here where i live, when i was a kid, they were so pretty ♥
The trick with metallic paints for pouring is that you need to make them thicker than your other paints, otherwise they'll just sink to the bottom and you'll never see them
The last one totally reminds me of fluorite!! So pretty!!
I'm in a different time zone so I always miss the lives ))))): its ok though I just watch them after, but I wish to be a Kevin
Also THE SCIENCE ROBESSSSS I love them
Same
34:04 I see all of those walks are paying off Evan! Nice endurance!
Evan: Are you over 8 years old?
Katelyn: yeah! *secretly hides the fact she low key has a 8 year old spirit*
Edit: it’s not hate tho like she is just always so excited!
I never grew up. Or at least I'll never admit to it.
Evan embraces 8 year old chaos
@@Nirrrina growing up seems kinda sad ngl
@@fynnanzminister It's very sad. Luckily I'm talented in that I can stay childish & still do a budget.
Anybody else still watch kids movies just because they're light-hearted fun?
Evan is such a good happy boy, Katelyn you must protect him always⚔
You should try covering the pourings with resin, because maybe they will look like they are wet :D
I thought the glitter video was long, this one is wayyyyyyyy longer! Thanks so much for the upload!
You guys look so professional with your ears-pieces
Evans science moments are more than I remember having at school. Keep sciencing guys 👍
Could we get an updated workshop tour??? Please??????
They do make small, square canvases that would fit this contraption. Crayola could easily put them into the kit in packs of 4 or 6, include more sticks for stirring, or small medicine cups that are marked. It wouldn't have to add to the price of the kit, or just buy your own pieces at the dollar stores and spend less.
My son got the kit for Christmas...we r doing this along with you
Oh wow soul mates !!! How amazing and in sync are you too. Really made me smile - just watched the ikea challenge - oh wow the candles and lamp were amazing but you too - wow yours is a relationship to aspire too 🥰
You two i meant- sooo perfect together
They are soooo sweet and kind
If COVID wasn't a thing i would get on a plane from England to USA
And do what? Knock on their door? :3
I love how the last one came out!! It looks like a geo I love it!
Does the kids one turn into a buy vs. DIY? Cause the rig may have been flimsy, but you can't say it didn't give you control
