I respect a youtuber who puts no fix videos up as well as the fixes. Makes the fix videos more genuine. People have to understand that not everything can be fixed.
100%
Thanks for the videos Alex
@@waynetaylor2784 ye except for dedicated gpu cpu
@@waynetaylor2784 And how much time and effort you want spend.
@@NorthridgeFix Something people need to learn from you is that you see this as a business more than anything else. You know how much time to spend on a board before calling it off.
It's sad that a good laptop is scrapped because of a chip that cant be purchased. It's not very eco friendly these big companies need to get a grip
Happy New Year Alex! 2021 had its ups and downs, but one of the best things about it was finding your channel. You've helped many people in more ways than you can imagine. I wish you, your family, and your business the best going forward!
Started learning laptop repairs a year ago. I must confess to you Sir through your videos I have become better than many technicians in the state that I reside . Thanks so much and wishing u a happy new year . From Nigeria
Thats pretty cool to think you are in NIgeria fixing electronics. Do you have a link to your website or shop?
@@ruffrider2626 No I don’t. Don’t have my own place. Working for my Boss @Sylvamoon Network
You may not be a singer, but you are a master teacher we listen to!
Alex is having a bad day today. Soldering chip wrong way without flux....testing mosfets with charger plugged in...finding a donor finally but ended up with another blown chip...just relax mate you will have better days in the future ..I love your work and your videos keep it up
what are you talking about?

I love your videos and watching it every single day. You are a great teacher and i'm learning so much from you and your experience.
Remember the words you heared many years ago it's true, but it shouldn't be. You make it true that knowledge comes for 0$ to the people. I'm very proud to you. Many greatings from germany and i wish you and your family and of course big boss a happy new year !
A no nonesense channel. It's the best repair page I have ever seen
Alex...I'm from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 I have learn lot from you. Thank you for your time and commitment & dedication to share you knowledge.
Happy New year to Alex, his uncle BigBoss and all the staff. I love your works!
Very great video, even if it was a nofix.
Thank you for that long video. I wish you and your familiy and all the members of your shop a happy new year, stay healthy and keep doing what you do!👍 thank you
Happy new year, Alex!! I learn everyday from your videos. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Amsterdam
This video was an emotional rollercoaster of highs and lows... Hate that you couldn't fix it, but as always, an excellent video!!!
Great effort Alex!...it's a shame that the part is not yet available...great work!..
Excellent try. Limited by 'no circuit diagrams/component layouts', but well fault found. Pity the integrated circuit was not available; it happens. Great job and thanks for sharing.
Happy new years Alex and family wishing you all the best for 2022. ;)
great to see all your videos... It is good to see that not always can be repeared
I like your videos. Right now, I build computers but with the new Tax laws here in New York I am trying to get more into the repairs. Your videos teach me a lot. I got some of the tools that I need and I'm hoping to make this work. Thank you for the videos they are very inspiring
Happy new year to you and the family. All the best for 2022
Happy new year to all, and thank you Alex for you New Years sharing
Happy New Year Alex!! Wishing you huge amounts of luck this year!🤞
Will you be doing any 🔴Live Repairs in the future?
God bless you from Algeria I love your videos so much even I don't do electronics but I had an adsl router modem it had a bad capacitor and I replaced it using the knowledge I got from your videos thank you so much.
APL6012 Chip is fabricated by TSMC and everything fabricated in TSMC is either out of stock or out of reach, so good luck fiding it
not this case
Happy new year Alex. All the best for 2022.
I thought I was the only one singing just not to lose focus 🤣😂 also we share the same off-note voice🤪. Keep up the good work 👏
_Hi Alex, please provide the model number of the laptop so that technical viewers may locate donor copies of the laptop for future repairs, and so that the layman may avoid buying a laptop that is prone to failure._
@@user-hd8tg4em2n _He usually does so at the beginning of every video._
Looks like a G14
@@JuanPabloKutianski it most probably is a 2020 G14
At 7:11 you can see its model number is GA401IV. I know this model number _by heart,_ because I’m currently researching if I should buy it refurbished from a local ASUS distributor for $950. And I was so close to purchasing it. But maybe I should reconsider getting it now..
Happy new year 🥳 thanks for great videos
If one mentioned digi-key, octopart, and/or mouser for part reference search, you know you're watching a correct person on the electronic device related job.
This is exactly why right to repair is really important..the chip that is unavailable to public is being destroyed not immidiately but indefenaetly and in a year and it is widespread
@@phantompanda1508: I have found some chips have useless part number in normal search, but I search by chip manufacturer (know your logos), pin count, layout, etc., etc. and I back into EXACT chip with a mainstream part number and readily available. Sneaky.
@@phantompanda1508 hello! How do you know that it is widespread?
Happy New Year. At least you did your best to fix.
As always good video, we learn a lot from this. Jazakillah khairon
Happy NewYear, X marks the spot
Let’s stick with fixing things and not the signing, lol. Another great video, happy new year.
happy new year alex to you and big boss and your family ...joe in the uk
Happy new year from Italy.
Generally when there's no dead short and the 19v is going through and there's an IC heating up, that IC is most of the time an all-in-one linear regulator and buck converter, which always provides 3.3v and 5v when the board has power. What I've seen happen multiple times is the superIO chip shorting out, which is connected to the 3.3v output of this regulator, causing the regulator to heat up crazy but because it's limited only to something like 150-200mA, not a dead short.
No idea about this laptop but that IC that you couldn't find for sale is probably for monitoring the system voltage and I'd bet its connected to the superIO. And given that it blew up I'd be willing to bet as well that it took out the superIO with it, and the superIO is now shorted and causing the linear regulator IC to heat up.
No idea what the superio of these newer ASUS laptops looks like, or if they're even available. MSI ones are cakewalk. Just gotta program them but can purchase them programmed if you don't want to learn to do so.
i got curious about this chip and tried searching for it. I know this video is 2 years old now. But its good to know that we can buy the chips now.
Happy Newyear sir.. always watching :) from philippines

Happy New Year bro 2022.
Chips not available is a very known problem with Apple products, including MacBook's from 2019 and on. I hate to see Asus going the same ways as F**** Apple
Fact
apple is well known junk, trow away product.
@@pashko90 exactly my point ☝️ same as Tesla
@@ronlevin2339 Nope, Tesla are actually is very repairable as car, as well on a module level. I do work a lot with it. But some of a company policies are not so friendly.
its actually his search engine fault
I think anyone watching these videos will get the impression this work is easy and end up butchering a lot of their own boards. I started Electrionic repair back in 82 fixing TV,s video recorders and vhf radios etc. Things have changed a lot . I ended up in the 00 doing BGA chips on printer boards etc . before changing into a manager and R&D . You are good at what you do . I am retired now but still have a lab where i restore oscilloscope etc for fun . Would love that camera /mic setup . Do you post ti UK ?
Awesome job bro keep rocking bro 👍👍👍

Happy New YEAR! have a question. This common problems on Asus laptos are due bad components? how long last a new mosfet??
Thank you.
How is the new soldering station going on with you?

Good show of no fix and reasons. Shame there is no equivalent. If they give you laptop do you still charge attempted repair fee?
Also looking at ordering some stuff from you eg 500 port box. Do you pay shipping tax or is that down to customer.
sir u r super man........
@Alex Happy New Year to you and family. Interesting video. I wish you had the laptop model specified so one could check for the schematics. There is something perplexing about this laptop. Why will there be a 15 channel analog to digital converter on board?!!!! Converting temperature data to digital? Traditionally temperature, voltage and even infrared data is sensed and converted by the SIO chip.
yes, its a temerature collecting chip, as well it talks to charger ic.
It is a 2020 ROG Zephyrus G14.
At 7:11 you can see its model number is GA401IV. I know this model number _by heart,_ because I’m currently researching if I should buy it refurbished from a local ASUS distributor for $950. And I was so close to purchasing it. But maybe I should reconsider getting it now..

HE IS GOING TO GIVE THE BIG BOARD TO BIG BOSS!
nice Vedio ☮️ 👍
do you use a special duster or vacuum for cleaning the components? I was wondering if an ESD datavac is worth it.
If you are working with large motherboards, an blower would be the best option to get rid of dust, otherwise a combination of manual dust blower and ESD brush is all you need for smaller boards with microscopic components. northridgefix.com/product/dual-head-esd-safe-hard-cleaning-brush-for-circuit-boards-and-corrosion-removal/ and northridgefix.com/product/best-rubber-dust-blower-bst%e2%80%911888/
While pressing the chip solder under the chip chance to spread and will shorted again?
How do you lose part of the video, on the cutting room floor(9th dimension)? 🙂
Which Asus Model is that? I'm looking to get another laptop from Asus but I don't want to get the same model if that chip is a common issue.
great singing Alex. just need to improve the ghost writing for better lyrics
I'm trying to buy a new hot air station but not sure to choose 861Dw or TR1300A
I work on high thermal demand boards (high number of layers, thick pcb and lots if heatsinks attached to it) which one you'd suggest, Alex? Also which one has higher airflow in your opinion?
I personally use a QUICK 861DE, it is more powerful than DW model, 200l/min airflow and 1300W power.
@@fixer_of_everything unfortunately it's unavailable here. Only can choose from 861DW and Tr1300A. Issue is owners of tr1300A claim that it has more airflow than 861dw. But spec sheet tells opposite.
Fan from Ethiopia
You have replaced the mosfat with another mosfat number, can you please explain that or how we can choose the replacement mosfat?
Do you selling the Air-Flux?
Can I change a mosfet with a different number but similar to the original mosfet in terms of appearance???
Nice Vid. But it looks like you had a crack in the small capacitor just to the left of the chip at 2:13.
