Renault Clio Mk3 lower suspension arm & track rod end change

In today’s video, Kayne and I are changing the track rod end and lower suspension arm on a Mk 3 (2009) Renault Clio. This car used to belong to me and I’m not going to lie to you, I hate this car! I used to call it Christine because it used to try to kill me on a regular basis. Anyway, now it belongs to my mum (I told her emphatically not to take this money pit on!) and since it’s been in her ownership, its behaved like a saint… just my luck!
Anyway, it recently failed it’s MOT because the boots on the track rod end and lower suspension ball joints were split and had too much play in them. I went to my local parts shop, Wheel Tappers in Wigan, and bought Apec lower suspension arms and track rod ends. We did both sides, but for the sake of brevity and not repeating ourselves, I’ve only shown you one side in this video. To my knowledge, these parts have never been changed since the car rolled off the French production line, some time late on a Friday afternoon in 2009, after a few bottles of red. To be fair, the original parts have done well to last this long. They put up a fight to try and remove though and the lower ball joint bolt appears to be made of the finest French cheese as it snaps while trying to undo it. One fresh stainless bolt later and it’s all good again.
