this video is the perfect example of how music can make a video great; it adds everything to the mood and feelings
The way they just plowed through the asteroids was something else. I like it!
I could totally watch an entire series from this time period produced by you guys. Absolutely amazing.
I LOVE the Design of the Luna TOS era class, good video😊
Frustratingly short but very refreshing. The spirit of TOS resonates heavily throughout this. Very excellent use of TOS' sound effects and music as well!
That's because they're using TOS and TMP music here. There's nothing new in this clip. This is all many years old now.
They should have given you guys the budget instead of Discovery. This is a much better story told in a true Star Trek fashion.
But-but that would require that they admit we’re better than them! They can’t do that!
How do we *really* know, though?
Prelude came out a looooong time ago.
Stuck in the past views.
This.
Pray Paramount don't Sue their asses just like Hollywood did with adult Wednesday Addams
Thanks for the lovely CGI Christmas present for all the fans!
Far more watchable than Discovery, despite so little we we're allowed by CBS/Paramount. Thank you for keeping this alive! I hope you're folks can show the full thing some day.
Looks amazing guys. As always. Super excited even all these years later. I like the horns in the soundtrack. Nice.
It's all reused music from the movies, and this CGI is also years old.
@@OpenMawProductions Oh, really? Didn't realize.
Yeah, that was old school Star Trek TOS soundtrack but with much better ships, special effects.
That wonderful reuse of the Search For Spock soundtrack, and the amazing CGI. Many years of patiently waiting and still thrilled for every small update.
It’s interesting how fan films can often seem to give Star Trek more real awe and wonder than the official shows.
Happy Holidays, Axanar.
🖖🏻🖖🏼🖖🏽🖖🏾🖖🏿🎄
Love for the universe does that for you. Ship porn is REALLY important.
Hearing the klingon battle theme as the ships came into frame gave me goosebumps.
This is evidence of how putting the time and love into CGI can make it really really work. This is top notch stuff!
It's also 5+ years old. It's not new. They've reused and rehashed this stuff over and over again.
Starships fighting in the atmosphere. That's a cool twist. Well done. 🙂
Loved the use of music and sound from both Wrath of Khan and the original series.
There's some TMP in there too.
A lot of Search for Spock music in there actually.
@@jasonstark5575 Yea the Klingon theme is from when Kruge destroys the transport ship at the start of the movie. I think the piece used for the Ares is when Grissom is orbiting Genesis. Unfortunately though the original piece used during the battle is a bit jarring compared to these and could probably use some more tweaking. Some great use of the TOS weapon and engine effects though
The best 4 minutes of STAR TREK I've seen in years.
Love the use of TOS sound effects
Love those old timey weapon sound effects.
At the very end of the video, I can't help but whisper, "Goodbye David."
Excellent fan-made film ! Navigating in that asteroid field would challenge any space pilot. That scene of the Klingon Bird of Prey chasing the USS Aries in that field 😳 of floating rocks was very realistic! Might we see more soon ?
Can you just imagine how good the Ares class would look with a refit treatment in the style of the Enterprise in TMP/WoK? With the angled linear nacelles and the impulse engine assembly of the era. The one point of difficulty would be somehow translating the torpedo launcher into its smaller more blended engineering hull. I suppose from an aesthetic perspective, you could take the base torpedo launcher, split in half and trim it, protrude the launchers from the hull like light sconces and stagger the placement like steps on a staircase, mirrored on both sides.
Or maybe you don't _have_ to change the existing launchers at all? But yes, a flat nacelle refit would be awesome.
In the meantime something needs tuning on those impulse engines, I was worried there for a minute! GREAT VIDEO! 👍🏆
It’s a year later, I’m in the company of true Trek geeks.
Now the USS Ares can continue it's main mission of delivering presents to all the good little boys and girls across the galaxy. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to all Trek fans.
🌟 🎄 🇨🇽
This is so much better than anything released since Enterprise was denied a Season 5.
What a shame isn't it? Enterprise was the last good ST series and it had so much potential. You saw it in Season 4 wich felt like they desperatly tried to fit in all the story lines they had prepared for a way longer lasting series. Also they fixed or explained most of the plot holes of the other ST series. At this point in time the ST universe was perfectly explained and a greate platform for further way more exciting series and movies. And then they ruined it all with modernity nonsens.
I loved how they explained the TOS Klingons looking more human
@@bradherbert9414 Amoung lots of other things. Learning the origins of the vulcan "logic religion" was also greate. Also getting a way deeper look into Vulcan, Andorian, Orion and ancient Klingon societies. And all of this following the ST pradigm of a bright and wonderful future.
@@TotalyRandomUsername My fav one liner was Shren: "I think he likes you pink skin."
Archer:"I wouldn't go that far"
Just the music cues told a story. Listened to this at first while I was working on a project and couldn't watch it, but I had a sense of what was happening just by hearing it. Nicely made.
Superbly well done !!!!!!
This looks great but with some interior bridge sequences between the exterior shots it would be perfect.🖖Keep up the good work.
It is likely that there will be, along with voice over of the captain and crew communicating as well.
Excellent work let’s see more real soon👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
the visuals are great PLUS I really like that they have accurate disruptor sounds, although the Klingons seem to miss more.
Lot's to love here. The sound design was amazingly consistent with everything mixed like it was made in the early 80s. When the ships enter the clouds - just great.
This clip is more entertaining than Picard Seasons 1 and 2 combined...
This is PERFECTION!
Looks awesome!
Oh cool! You don't really get to see the deflector actually doing it's job, that's a great touch that stood out to me!
Looks great, looking forward to seeing a full episode.
Don't hold your breath.
Beautiful - thanks very much
That was beautiful!!!
Excellent animation. I love that we finally get to see a deflector in use at 1:54. It is a sorely underutilized device in Star Trek. Those Klingons really need to fire their gunnery officer.
Better then any Star Trek in last ten years
So love the TOS sound FX.
Splendidly done!
Love the 1970s cartoon lazer sound effects.
Excellent work on this, fitting end for that Klingon D7. I love watching these kind of videos.
I understand why that Klingon hymn was added to this before. Because this shows that the glorious D7 WAS beatable in combat. A Federation crew with some knowledge of a D7 crew can take on that D7 with a solid chance of victory.
Kharn must have hollered himself hoarse over this lose. Heads may have rolled. Or bounced.
Wish the people at Paramount would fund you guys to make a series or a feature length movie!
When outflying the enemy works just as well as outfighting them. ;)
Thanks for sharing.
Great dialog.
I love this scene! The music is great.
I wonder if the captain considered swinging around to see if there were any survivors to rescue.
The Klingons were fighting the war of least respect. Only fair that Starfleet returns the favor
@@matthewcaughey8898 Maybe, but Starfleet is about ideals at all costs. Especially given the speech made in Axanar.
Star Trek fan since 1966. That was beautiful. I got to watch that again.
Using the shield to repel the asteroids? That is brilliant. I might be wrong but I have never seen this in any ST before. This is a top notch fan production video, like everything Axanar.
It's the deflector and that is its purpose. It deflects everything all the time but we can see it when it's the asteroids. So, it's always working on star trek (except on AbramsTrek where they shoot things in their path, presumably coz the new generation doesn't care much about the science of space travel). Sometimes, they talk about the deflector in this context; other times, they talk about using it to do something else. For example, before the battle of Wolf 359 (or maybe after), they try to kill the borg cube with the modified deflector array. If they never showed it in action in old trek, it would have had to do, one assumes, with money, technology or time constraints of the time.
One of the problems of space travel we don't yet know how to solve is deflecting things when travelling very fast, as even dust will puncture our spaceships otherwise.
Personally, I would have used torpedoes or disruptors. That is what I thought the Klingons were doing. It took a few rewatches before I noticed that the Ares deployed mines, and the Klingons were destroying the mines.
I would expect that the drain on the shields would be more of a concern than the depletion of ammo, given how common it is to lose shields, compared to how rare it is to deplete munitions. The fan community attempting to keep track of Voyager's torpedo rations really highlights this. A captain would want to preserve shield integrity as long as possible. Although, a slow reaction time might have cost the Ares the distance it needed for safe detonation of torpedoes. I suppose it is prior to "The Motion Picture", so Commander Decker wouldn't be countermanding a phaser order, but that is getting nerd deep in the lore.
I don't know that it has been established that the deflector dish in the 23rd century can move entire asteroids as "buu88553" suggests. Though, there are "deflector screens", which I understand to be a variant of shield technology. Some of the terms might not have been fully locked down early on.
Artistically, having a shield style visual effect and calling it "the deflector" kind of fits with the production standards and aesthetics of the Original Series, if not necessarily canon proper. It seems to contribute to a more authentic "feel".
Looking good. Can't wait for more!
This is the real Star trek! Outstanding!
Excellent! Love it.
Wait is this still on? Are we actually going to get an Anexar movie at some point?!
2023 yes
Also very nice mix of TOS sound effects and Star Trek 3 TAFS Orchestra piece introducing the Ares
Incredible work! Thanks so much for making this.
The Klingons fire like a cylon basestar from 1978. The sound effect of the weapons sounds the same.
Nice!
Awesome, Awesome, Awesome! Camera angles are fantastic!
Love some of the OG/ TOS sound effects being used
The truly Federation-Klingom war, master piece of Star Trek love you work, Axenar the truly history of Star Trek, and not one third class cheap copy they made that call discovery.
Il take this as my Christmas present! Cheers guys n keep em comin xx
Very good! So many talented people out there! Sidenote many sci fi universes out there would like to see some cgi fleet action from them to!!
That was awesome! Great cgi!🖖
My awesome dog Ares approves of your awesome work.
Hell Yeah!
Just freaking awesome!
What? None of the gratuitous “pew-pew-pew” bullet hell of Abrams Trek? 🎉 My hat is off to you! 😊
Continuing the fine tradition of Federation ships NEVER FIRING THEIR PHASERS ENOUGH.
For the Algorithm!! For Axanar!!!
That Klingon ship was so bad at targetting, it's like this was a Star Wars/Star Trek crossover - as in they had a Storm Trooper on tactical.
Pretty incredible work!
Excellent.
Thanks for the lovely Kahless' day present of authentic-sounding Disruptor bolts, a thoughtful gift.
another very excellent production !!!... keep the good work going !!!
This effing rules!!!😮
When are we getting the full movie guys like all the parts put together into one? When is that going to be finished?
End of next year or the beginning of 2024
@@ficklefingeroffateTrue but according to the last update stream they have to more shoots and then they are done filming, what he actually said I think was that they will release it that year the END of the year early next year part is already SC tax added. Lets hope they can make it happen without Paramount being d*cks again
@@ficklefingeroffate You can blame a year or two of that delay on CBS/Paramount and their lawsuit from being jealous that fans were making better Trek with donations from other fans than they could with multi million dollar budgets.
If Paramount pictures top people had any brains they'd hand all future Star Trek production over to you guys. You guys are awesome 🖖🏼
At least treat the fan films as a farm league.
Screw axanar. they ruined it for fanmade films Alec made sure of that.
@@wolfstriker3992 Not a fan of Alec, but no they were just an early casualty of this. Star Wars and Warhammer 40k off the top of my head have issues here too. Look into the 40k stuff games workshop did. it actually surpassed this in sadistic assholery
@@gups4963 I feel as if paramount's actions were a prelude of what's to come for the Warhammer community once I learned of the axanar controversy and the announcement of Warhammer plot, I thought of the old saying "people who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it." are man was it repeated. also is something similar happing to Star Wars?
@@sansoo9497 What WH40 did using contracts to mislead people into thinking they were hired by 40k is what got all the indie stuff killed. Now people really should no better than to sign any contract with a company as predatory as the black library even more so. If you've seen Astartes, emperor's text to speech or the flashgitz animations among others. That is why there isn't anything really coming out now. SW is more low level paramount shenanigans. I think they are too scared of the fanbase at this point to go further than that. Basically just making to where people can't even try to break even on a project. Which was a dramatic change from sw under lucas
This is so beautiful. Just beautiful. I wish paramount would wake the hell up!
Pretty frelling cool!
1:33 That's straight out of Star Trek II. And that's fine!
Looks fantastic. Love the original series music and I’ve always loved the look of the Klingon warships.
Was listening to Rolling Stones "Get off of my Cloud" while watching this. Amazing.
🖖😎👍Very cool and very well done indeed !...
This is fantastic!
Keep 'em coming! We need true Star Trek!!! This is a great holiday surprise. Thank you!
This is all old CGI from years ago. There's nothing new in this, at all.
Wow, stunning work 🥰🤗
I appreciate the TNG era Warp effect. Always liked that effect compared to the JJVerse Discovery era warp effect despite the scientific accuracy of it
Nicely done!
AMAZING!!! - GREAT JOB!!!
VERY COOL!
Regardless of whether Axanar becomes a thing, this is so superior to the bs we have been given by the three recent series. This by far maintains the spirit of the franchise pre-nuTrek
What part of it, exactly? Seriously, what in this sci-fi wargames gobbledygook reads "Star Trek"?
@@katherineberger6329 it was a comparative comment to the utterly worthless series that currently constitute Star Trek. Is it fan-made, carrying with it some of the kitsch, certainly. However, when I watch this and the other Axanar elements, it feels like it fits with the other canon series pre-STD. I guess your mileage varies, but it really feels like what the step between ENT and TOS should have been, not the terrible series we were delivered. To each their own, but my assumption is that classic Trekkers would fine this product more akin to the original four live action series.
@@arndtdj “worthless” how?
The first shields that actually look good that I've seen in years
The design of that federation starship is actually fire
A massive improvement over the original. I was always a huge fan of this episode in particular, and this level of polish will make it an even greater experience on rewatch.
I'm optimistic for this series and sincerely hope to see the entire body of work complete so the Star Trek community can finally have this work of art in its final form. You guys deserve as much.
Thanks for continuing to make content and keeping this project alive.
That was awesome!!
This is the first time I've come across this. My first impression is I like it.
Very well done.
Cylon BaseStar blasters sounded at 2:14
