    It is a real treat to see how you incorporated R. Lee Ermey in as the Supreme Commander of the MACO's. Also, weaving the Stiles clan into the storyline does much to fill in the historical tapestry that was alluded to in TOS episode Balance of Terror. Well done.

    This is outstanding work which expertly integrates the gravitas of Prelude to Axanar, with contemporary CGI of exemplary quality. I find the actors' contributions to be well fitted in tone and execution to a retrospective presentation of cataclysmic galactic events. The storyline is cogently built, with incrementally increasing portents of the full scale engagement to come.
    I can say nothing more than this being as far more representative of association with the ST brand than anything produced by Secret Hideout, just as Kirk's Enterprise was as distant from being a garbage scow (or literally garbage).

    Some complaints:
    1. It's a bit odd to see the marauder drone at work at Salem 1, and then still be the 'secret' weapon that the coalition forces 'couldn't know what awaited them'. Albeit I suppose that it could be explained that there is a world of difference between shutting ships down, and literally hacking and controlling them in the later battle. Also, I suppose that the success of the attack on Salem 1 meant that relatively little info of the new marauder drone weapon was revealed?
    2. The Urroth archaeological dig went on for quite some time? And the planet was mined and had two ships guarding it for years? It wouldn't have been too unspeakable for there to have been a facility or colony for the earth forces to have nuked, justified or not. I'm not sure where the archaeological subplot is going, but it is an element dividing Romulan forces. I liked the call back to ENTERPRISE in that it was a 'Romulan world' that Archer returned to.
    3. My biggest issue is that the Romulans had poor intelligence over the Andorians. Why? The Romulans had infiltrated Vulcan at the highest levels, Vulcan had their own intelligence at work on the Andorians for years; the Romulans should have known everything about the Andorians until recently. They might have had plenty of their own intelligence at work in order to have kidnapped that telepathic guy from under the ice in the isolated community that even the Andorian government knew little about. That implies a big operation and/or a ship operating right in orbit to snatch him. Also, the Andorians are an obvious rival, the 2nd greatest threat after the Vulcans in the immediate neighborhood.
    Rather than a blunder due to low intelligence, I would have framed the battle as a risky attack based ON intelligence. Attacking a home system in a situation with much of the fleet home with some allies present is obviously risky, but--but the chance for a decisive battle to destroy the Andorian fleet and depopulate much of the Andorian system would have made for a tempting target. The wargames might have led to confusion and delay time in detecting and responding to the Romulan attack. And, the Tele-capture marauder drones could provide the overwhelming advantage. I might have had the undisclosed system navigation hazard to befuddle and slow the Romulans, and speedy response, and Romulan optimism bias to have made it a bloody battle for both sides.
    Indeed, the Romulan losses were severe, but they very nearly accomplished their objectives. The Andorian and human task forces were wiped out or badly savaged, and Andoria barely saved from nuclear attack. Even with the failure of the attack on Andoria's population centers, the battle could still be almost characterized as a Pyrrhic strategic victory for the damage it caused to coalition forces. Andoria's military contributions being badly curtailed in the immediate future. And Andoria might be considered the TRUE tactical opponent if Vulcan is taken off the table.
    Of course, what the Federation believes and teaches two centuries into the future and what really happened might be two different things!
    Congrats:
    1. I actually love the battle of Andoria despite my issue of intelligence leading up to it. The Andorian 'ice tong' ships kicking some ass, the Columbia making the greatest sacrifice makes call backs to the Styles family AND the loss of Columbia were great.
    2. The Alpha Centauri colony and attack made a lot of sense. It's a loss of an independent human nation and a big system of shipyards. And 500,000 folks.
    3. The customized ships were interesting. The 'primitive Mirandas' and 'early Kelvin type' ships looked great. I also liked the Pioneer ships and the idea that they probably played a major role into why there were 500,000 people on Alpha Centauri to die was interesting.
    4. Your main actors are doing well!
    Nice job filling out the Romulan War era!

      A VERY thoughtful critique, Larqven01 and I will address your issues:
      1) No humans survived the attack on Salem One to report about the Romulans' weapon. It is still an unknown when they encounter the Romulans again at Algeron.
      2) Unroth had two ships guarding it that we know of and they were encountered four years earlier. Chambers tells us that Unroth had "some kind of mining operation" which is presumably what Archer's fleet reported upon arrival at Unroth. Our Romulan expert Kovallus, who is in a position to know the truth, corrects the record by saying that it was actually a "archaeological expedition that was preparing to leave the planet." Yes, the Romulans were looking for something on Unroth and their search had clearly been winding down when Starfleet arrives. The Romulans' search is the prime reason why they are in Coalition space in the first place and what they're looking for will be revealed in Part II.
      3) There is no evidence from canon that the Vulcans had any kind of detailed intelligence on the Andorians. At least not about their home system or its disposition of forces - which is all that's really relevant here. And keep in mind that the "conspiracy" of Romulan sympathizers inside the Vulcan High Command amounted to only one person we know of - V'Las - who is presumably in prison at this time and cannot divulge any more information to his Romulan contact(s).
      As for this notion that the Romulans (Valdore and Nijil) could have gotten intel from the Aenar they'd captured (Garab)... remember that the Aenar were outcasts from the Andorian society for centuries - most Andorians didn't think they were even real. So it's pretty unlikely, if not impossible that Gareb could have any knowledge whatsoever of Andorian military capabilities - assuming the Romulans even tried to get that information from him. Which... why would they? That's not even what they'd abducted him for. They abducted him specifically to use his telepathic abilities to pilot the Marauder - not as a source of intelligence on the Andorian system. We also don't know how Gareb was abducted, but we do know that it could NOT have been a "big operation" or the Andorians would have detected it. Most likely, the Romulans paid someone off to go to Andoria as a spy, look for the Aenar, kidnap one of them, then slip out and rendezvous with their contacts outside of Andorian space.
      Also, the "navigational hazard" in the Andorian system was shown on screen... the small gas cloud near the homeworld that Shran and his squadron were hiding in. The Romulans had no idea that it was there or that there would be an ambush waiting from inside. Whether you consider that a "navigational hazard" depends on your perspective and in Admiral Jefferies' opinion, it was since it was directly impairing the Romulans' ability to exploit the element of surprise they may have been hoping for and win the battle.
      The rest of what you are talking about is largely speculation and is no more or less valid then the scenario we have in TRW, but you hit on a lot of points that are correct. The Battle of Andoria was bloody, the good guys got hammered too even though they had the home-field advantage, but it was the first time there was a chink in the Romulans' armor. And yes, it was absolutely a Pyrrhic victory for the Coalition and the Romulans did succeed in inflicting heavy damage to the Andorian Imperial Guard... but it was a Coalition victory nonetheless.
      All this to say that the Praetor's strategy to attack Andoria was a bad one - regardless of who won the battle. It finally allowed Earth to credibly say to all of its partners (who had started to walk away from the whole thing) "they're coming for you next after they finish with us." D'Deridex's hubris allowed Earth to solidify its alliance and it made true believers out of the Andorians, who let's remember had only met humans a couple of years earlier in limited fashion. Now they are comrades in arms thanks to the Praetor's overreach and Challenger's sacrifice for their homeworld. This is exactly what Admiral Valdore had tried to warn his Praetor about and he was ignored. This will cost the Romulans dearly.
      Now to address your Congrats (and yes, we're glad you balanced your critique and included these):
      1) Challenger's suicide run came out better than I thought it would. Several users so far have commented on this and I think that's a testament to the moving score by Adam Mullen and the performance by actor Brian Holloway that viewers can be moved by that scene, even though we never actually saw Stiles or his crew on camera. Bravo to both of them for making that scene work!
      2) The Alpha Centauri sequence has to happen to show the full devastation and brutality the Romulans are bringing to bear on humanity. Glad you liked it.
      3) You picked out three ships - the Poseidon (Miranda) class, the Einstein (Kelvin) class, and the Pioneer (Starfleet Museum) class - that I think makes the Earth fleet feel more "real" and rounded-out. These are ships with vastly different mission profiles and they are all coming together to become ships of war out of desperation and necessity. Also... you are spot-on about the massive Pioneer-class transports being key to the migration of so many people to Alpha Centauri. We have some more on that we're going to talk about later and suffice to say, I am glad someone picked up on it. Details!
      4) Yes, despite the bullshit snark I've seen from some... our actors did a bang-up job and I am immensely proud of all the performances. Every actor played the role they were asked to play. That includes Mazzone's over-the-top delusional Praetor, who let's remember.. is only seen in Part 1 beating his chest in front of crowds. Anyone who has seen a politician speak in front of a crowd knows this is the appropriate tack to take. I think sometimes people forget how melodramatic Star Trek is and has always been, especially in its depiction of its villains. Why this is acceptable in "real" Trek but not in a fan production is beyond me. And let's be real: the people complaining about the actors could never do better if the camera was on them instead.
      I want to end all of this by saying I am incredibly appreciative of your comments here about the story elements. Most of the comments don't do a deep-dive like you have and I wish more people would focus on this because... well, I'm a major canon-nerd and a lot of thought went into this stuff. Anyway, thanks for commenting!
      - Mark

    • @larqven0192
      @larqven0192 3 года назад +1

      @@TheRomulanWar Thank YOU Mark! For both your hard work on your production and your explanations.
      1. For the Battle of Salem 1, I was wondering if the colony at Beringeria (spelling?) had received streaming battle data or not. Or if the colony was captured? Since 'only' a few thousand were killed, the colony wasn't destroyed. The tele-capture drone might have been recorded with ships shutting down, but, precisely because ships were shutting down, little was probably transmitted.
      2. Because Vulcan and Andoria were locked in a cold war, and the Vulcans had that massive listening post under the monastery which figuratively allowed Vulcan intelligence to 'know what every Andorian was having for breakfast', (and that Vulcans proved adept secret agents as well in another episode) the Romulans should have known quite a lot. The Romulans were basically RULING Vulcan as behind the scenes puppet-masters at the time. If they had a guy so highly placed, there might well be a hundred other agents in operation in Vulcan.
      The Aenar guy (Garab) wasn't such a great intelligence source in himself--but the fact that the Romulans even knew about the Aenar at all, and where to find them, (something maybe even the Vulcans didn't know)--suggests that the Romulans did have quite an operation to set it up.
      I'm not trying to nit-pick; I'm just surprised that the Romulans didn't know much about Andor when the Andorians are fairly prominent players. I also tend to think of the Romulans as less militarily powerful than you are portraying, but very well informed to compensate. Getting intelligence of the upcoming wargames with the humans and deciding 'there will be so many ships there--let's attack!' 'It will be risky!' 'We have the marauder drone! It's worth the risk!'
      I don't mind the attack occurring due to hubris and losing sight of certain strategic goals; with their run of easy victories, it's not so surprising. I just thought they ought to be making a 'more intelligent' form of blunder.
      I'm surprised that I didn't make the connection with the gas cloud. I guess I was just thinking of icy rings and lots of moons and asteroids, and gravitational and magnetic issues related to the gas giant Andor orbits.
      3. The 'suicide run' is great! Yeah, it's very melodramatic with the long run and a long winded self-eulogy; but when it ends in a great sacrifice for such a great reward, it's worth it. I'm old enough to remember Challenger and the Challenger Speech, it all worked for me! And, yeah, making dramatic speeches is an important skill for officers, particularly in Star Trek!
      4. It's really nice to finally SEE something of Alpha Centauri, and in a matter of sentences get a feel for the colonizing effort, and separatist type politics that developed. It does get across Romulan cruelty, and also that Romulans KNOW so much, but understand much less. In a weird way, ENTERPRISE made Vulcans and Romulans quite similar beyond physicality; Vulcan intelligence and hidden motives being a big part of it.
      5. I do love the ships you've added. I DO somewhat question if the Romulans could have built their 'Klingon' cruiser and dreadnought at this time. Albeit, with their spy operations and the plug into Vulcan Intelligence, they might well have been able to gained the technology and schematics for building them?
      I hope to hear more of your new ships.
      I love the Poseidon Class! I don't know if it's a new ship or an old pre-warp 2 ship that has been upgraded? As Warp 2 was only broken a decade or so previously (if you care to work within that; it solves some continuity problems and creates others), one could imagine a 'modern' warship to guard the colonies and trade routes not many years before Warp 2 was broken.
      The Einstein Class IS the Einstein class? It looks like it has a half-saucer hull? I'll have to look again. A brand new ship? An advanced civilian ship being refitted for war? It will be interesting to find out. I probably would have put it later, but it's fun to see. It does have a 'utilitarian' look to go with its beauty. It does show that single nacelle starships were possible early on.
      The Pioneer and its fellow big, primitive ships look great! I remember being surprised by the design ascetic when I first saw them on DeviantArt. They've grown on me though, I'm glad you've been able to bring them to life. They make so much sense in a 'realistic' space ship way; especially in matters of colonizing and trade.
      As technology progresses, ships will actually tend towards getting smaller than larger. The NX is comparable in size to the Constitution primary hull; The largest ships of the Vulcans, Andorians and now, the Romulans, won't be superseded by Star Fleet until the TNG era.
      Presumably, a large ship can easily enter warp, but have significant issues at higher warp speeds?
      It looks like the NX ships are finally getting cranked out quickly now that the prototype has had a considerable shakedown and the production model (Columbia) is out the door. A good thing, as a lot of them are doomed. So many that I'm wondering if any will be upgraded?
      To me, there's no question that the Daedalus Class has been around for awhile. It just has such a primitive look to it that it HAS to predate other ENTERPRISE ships even though actual canon doesn't support that notion. It does look lean and mean next to ships the bulk ships like the Pioneer. I have to think that the Nausicaan pirates weren't too impressed with them; but they'd be the best humanity had for decades? Now, they are getting upgraded, and, surprisingly be around for years to come.
      6. I've seen a lot of You-Tube Star Trek productions. Your actors are great!
      Good luck with finishing TRW!

      @@larqven0192 SHAP SIX!!
      1) Nearly everyone who was killed at Berengaria were the people on the station and the nearby starships. Only a handful of people are on the colony below and likely they didn't even know the attack was happening - they are scientists in the wild studying the dragons of Berengaria. After the Romulans destroy the station, they send a ship down to take prisoners. Suffice it to say, between the deaths of all the people in orbit and the Romulans jamming communications in the war zone, Earth has no idea about the Romulans' hijacking technology. They do however, know that it was the Romulans who invaded. This is going to be addressed in one of our "War Stories" episodes.
      2) The Vulcans could observe Andorian movements in the region, but specific defenses and deployments in their home system? Possibly, but probably not. We know the Romulans do have at least enough knowledge to know where to exit from FTL and begin their attack run. That is the extent of their intel. Also, we know that V'Las was a Romulan asset, but there is no reason to believe that anyone else was intentionally helping the Romulans on Vulcan. V'Las was First Minister and the only people helping him were doing so because of the chain of command and their duty to the First Minister.
      3) I was in science class watching live when Challenger exploded. It was also a powerful experience for me as I was one of the kids who was all-in on NASA and the space program (not to mention Star Trek).
      4) Agree with everything you said.
      5) Since we envisioned the Stormbird, it has been a lightning rod of controversy. We've tried to explain why and how the Stormbird came to be (short version: they invented Stormbird, Klingons steal the design and use it as the basis for the D-7 later), but we'll be putting out a Romulan version of our "Ships of the Line" video to make it more clear. Look for it in the spring.
      Glad you liked our other ships. Have you checked out our website yet? We have a few pages of the TRW starship specs there:
      www.theromulanwar.com/ships
      We also have a basic timeline of events going from First Contact to the beginning of the Earth-Romulan War:
      www.theromulanwar.com/the-world-of-the-romulan-war
      **Spoiler Alert** Yes you will see the NX refit in TRW Part II.
      6) You're right... our actors did a great job, no matter what snarky non-actors have to say about it. Making this kind of dry, academic material seem interesting is hard to do and they all pulled it off IMHO. As for the Praetor... he is clearly posturing and pandering for his audience and he does that very dramatically.

      @@TheRomulanWar Thank you for your explanations and links! I spent some time going through the info.
      Berengaria Attack: The Romulan jamming explains a lot. One might question how earth was certain enough that the Romulans were behind it to declare war. An easy answer might be that the Vulcans provided that confirmation as a Vulcan ship did escape. Assuming they didn't want to sit on the info. Given Vulcan's time in space, as well as obvious inside knowledge, I'd expect that they knew a LOT of the Romulans that they weren't telling. And were perhaps beside themselves as to what to do.
      Ships: 'De-evolving' the Einstein Class so that it looks like an ENTERPRISE era ship was well done! But, upon reflection, I'd still probably place it as a design emerging in the early years of the 23rd Century. Largely, due to its single nacelle design which it would have shared with some other such ship classes such as the Saladin (even if they are beta-canon). Granted, this is a nitpick, and a good job was done to make it match; but in this case I'd have left the Einstein closer to the era it appears in.
      The Stormbird as the progenitor of the D7? I'll probably have to be on the other side of that argument. While TOS and the ENTERPRISE pilot (and DISCOVERY, should we want to include that) prove that Klingons can be secret agents, they aren't so thematically known for it. More to the point, the Klingons in ENTERPRISE already have D7-esque cruisers. In some appearances, the model used should have been better 'de-evolved', but doubtlessly were meant to show that the 'classic D7' was on its way in Klingon ship design.
      Even the primitive, apparently old, 'civilian' Klingon pirate ship that was extorting an alien colony showed that the essential design had been around for decades, or longer. If the Klingons had been the party to have stolen the ship design, it would have had to have been from some proto-Stormbird design several decades earlier. Klingons blundering into a Romulan system and having a ship fall into Romulan hands to be reverse engineered seems a more likely explanation.

      @@larqven0192 You've mostly nailed it on the Berengaria attack, but there was an actual radio transmission the Romulans sent into Coalition space taking responsibility and declaring their intentions. This was not in the film because we can't include everything in the film (and it doesn't really HAVE to be in there for the audience to know Earth is at war), but we will be exploring that piece in another story.
      We liked the idea of the Einstein class being the predecessor for the Prime Universe's version of the Kelvin. They are primarily just a science vessel, which is really what Starfleet/UESPA is up to during this time period. Whatever explanation people have for a ship with one nacelle... we're using that! LOL BTW, if all goes as planned, we will see a really cool sequence with the Einsteins in Part II.
      The Romulan Stormbird is first deployed during the "Dueling Birds War" (Romulan vs. Klingons), which was in the late 2130's. We will be putting out a video explaining the whole thing that I think you will enjoy and which does not conflict with Trek canon.
      Thanks for your comments! I am glad you are enjoying our little universe, such as it is.

    The whole thing has to do with early Romulan history. The Romulans are descendants of Vulcans who did not want to follow Surak's teachings and who gathered around the bird of prey banner. These Vulcans left Vulcan with spaceships whose top speed was maximum impulse. These remote planets were stopovers for the early Romulans until they discovered the planet they later named Romulus. Romulus is the complete opposite of Vulcan, with lush grasslands, dense forests and rivers, as well as seas full of fish and a blue sky.

    • @TheRomulanWar
      @TheRomulanWar  9 месяцев назад

      It is also possible that the Romulan settlers who left Vulcan encountered some kind of wormhole that brought them near what is now Romulus even though their ships were so slow. It's also possible that this wormhole gained an almost religious significance to those old Romulans which has influenced some of them to continue searching for it over the centuries so they can go back and get revenge on their Vulcan brothers and/or grow their empire.

    • @Fabian-Wenzel
      @Fabian-Wenzel 9 месяцев назад

      @@TheRomulanWar Your thesis is also very plausible. I am right in one respect with my thesis that the Romulans are descended from Vulcan's who rejected the teachings of Surak. That was in the 4th century of the human timescale after a devastating nuclear war on Vulcan. Surak suffered from radiation sickness. At least that's what it says in Memory Alpha, as I've just found out. . The English Memory Alpha is somehow much more detailed than the Memory Alpha in German. Honestly, I'm more worried about the prediction of World War III in Star Trek right now, which lasted from 2025 to 2053 in the Star Trek timeline. I don't know exactly, but I think I read that some nuclear weapons were only used at the late end in 2053. Several wars are currently running parallel to the Ukraine war. Venezuela also wants to annex two thirds of Guyana and the new president of Argentina wants to assert his claim to the Falkland Islands, including by force. It is possible that all of this will lead to a chain reaction in 2025. On the other hand, I think humanity and its leaders may need a horrible shock that people will stop waging war against each other forever.

    • @TheRomulanWar
      @TheRomulanWar  9 месяцев назад

      Yes, everything you wrote about the Vulcan/Romulan schism came from the "United" trilogy of episodes in S4 of ENT.
      I've always laughed when I hear people say "I wish we had the future that Star Trek has" because they forget that in order for us to get to that utopia, there's a nuclear war that kills like 1/3 of the human race and it will happen during most of our lifetimes. Yikes!
      Be careful what you wish for lol

    • @Fabian-Wenzel
      @Fabian-Wenzel 9 месяцев назад

      @@TheRomulanWar I think humanity must first go through hell to finally renounce war among themselves. Humanity that treats each other with benevolent tolerance can achieve so much. Abolition of poverty, health care for all people on earth, housing for all people on earth, education for all people on earth and food for all people on earth. The earth has enough resources for everyone, everything is just unfairly distributed. It cannot be that 1% of the world's population occupies 99% of the earth's wealth and the remaining 1% is left for the rest of the people to fight over like two dogs over a bone. I'm not a communist, I'm just a realist that this is politically explosive and could lead to open, massive violence all over the world in the next 100 years, which will be exacerbated by climate change. The rich don't care about climate change, they can build a city or several cities below sea level without giving up the comfort they are used to. Even if the Earth does not have sufficient resources for this, the rich will finance a space mission to the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter to carry out automated mining there, as the asteroids are full of raw materials. To prevent the rich from dying of thirst, they will finance seawater desalination plants and the associated purification systems. There is talk of water shortages all over the world, but nobody has yet thought of building seawater desalination plants with the associated purification systems. With rising sea levels due to climate change, this is the perfect source of water.

The UFP space hippies still have some ways to go from being bully magnets but they are starting grow a sit.

    • @time391
      @time391 Год назад +5

      @@neganrex5693 To be fair, DS9 wasn't like any of the other Star Trek shows before or ever since, due to the unrelenting realpolitik of Captain Sisko. He was a religiou leader, a military commander, and one of the few Starfleet officers willing to do what was needed to secure peace in the midst of a rising Dominion aggression and plots against the Federation. TNG was an era of peace that only got shattered by the Borg, but it was still mostly peaceful with a few flare-ups. DS9 was unstable era of conflict with huge stakes.
      Beyond that, DS9 introduced elements other star trek shows have tried and failed to incorporate properly like Section 31, a spy agency that was secret that acted as judge, jury, and executioner. All the other shows after tried to copy it, tried to conceive stories around this mysterious secret police/intelligence agency, but failed miserably. To me, Star Trek revealed the reality and social commentary about the costs of civilization and nationhood, whether it's Romulan Tal Shiar or Cardassian Obsidian Order being akin to Russian FSB and Chinese MIS agencies versus Federation's Section 31 akin to US own NSA agency, no nation-state democratic or totalitarian can maintain itself without such means. Something most Trekkies back then and now fail to accept or want to accept is that such tools are necessary to preserve paradise in whatever form the civilization behind them wants. Kind of kills that notion of individuality and freedom being ultimate goals.
      Then, there was Sisko's false flag operation against the Romulans in order to win the War against the Dominion. No other Star Trek or Sci-Fi show to that point had ever done something like In the Pale Moonlight, because no one dared to challenge the notion that the ends justify the means. He willingly allowed another nation to send an army to fight for his in order to stave off defeat. Were his goals noble? Depends on the eye of the beholder, humanity would agree it was, but Romulans and Dominion Citizens who died due to his actions would call him a war criminal. However, they won the war and ultimately that is what mattered, survival of the Federation first rather than morality or ethics. Even Babylon 5 didn't go down that route, Sheridan and Delenn most controversial actions like using telepaths as suicide bombers was a pale shadow to the billions of lives Sisko and Garak eventually killed through their actions.
      That kind of social commentary is far more controversial than talking about gender, race, or ethnic identity because at its core, it challenges the very notion of liberty and free will. DS9 was beyond Woke, it was fully awake and dealt with reality rather than pretending little issues define it. Victory is life, indeed.

    I'll be damned. It's Star Trek... made by people who genuinely cared about the production, based the series on actual lore and focused on telling a decent story. ...It's been a while.

      I'm tickled pink that they got a guy who's normally a comedian (Jeff Allen) to play Adm. Mathias Jefferies. Jeff's comedy routines are some of the best stand-up routines out there. Maybe his sense of humor will come into play for this character at some point. And It would be ironic if they got Jeffrey Combs to play a Romulan part for this :D

      @@paulus121212 I wouldn't describe ENT S4 as "they didn't care anymore". It was more a desperation thing - they were willing to experiment, they wanted to impress, they wanted to answer a lot of loose canon questions, they wanted to give Star Trek a graceful and majestic sendoff, they were hoping that wide appeal to fans might keep the show on air for another season.
      They might have even succeeded if not for pompous old Riker's uninvited and unwanted appearance in the final episode.

      @@paulus121212 The only reason I can think for ENT to have flopped, at least among diehard Trekkies, is the focus they had on the 'Temporal Cold War' arc in the first 3 seasons. It certainly jarred me a bit, but when I saw what they were moving towards in Season 4, I got very excited and thought ENT finally found its footing... At least until it was cancelled. Damn shame too, but apparently there's been a growing movement to bring Enterprise back and continue where it left off. I just hope they don't taint it with any of Discovery's nu-Trek garbage if they do.
