This was great Trek writing. Contrast this 10 min video and the emotions it inspired for captain Jakahnde with the last episode of Disocvery, “The Example”. In the last episode of Discovery there was another character that stayed behind to die and it was poorly done. There was no reason for the character in STD to sacrifice himself other than his use to the plot was done and he wanted to die. With this video Interlude, the self sacrifice made sense and had meaning to everyone and everything. This is the show trek fans deserve, what we have now in “cannon” trek we do not deserve sadly.

you didn't watch the episode or you were incapable of understanding what was going on. the prisoner was racked with guilt for what he did. you can't even spell "canon" for God's sake.

    • @ManicPandaz
      @ManicPandaz 2 года назад

@@0xKruzr Sure, guilt is a common reason people commit suicide, it’s a bad reason. Star Trek morals used to aspire to more than giving into suicide because guilt. It’s cowardly. If he wanted to atone for his crimes he would of returned the genetic archive himself. It would of also meant far more coming from the guilty party rather than a passerby. For example in Latent Image from Voyager the Doctor wanted to kill himself because of guilt over a choice he made. The moral of that story is suicide because of guilt is not an answer. In the TNG episode Ethics, Worf wanted to comit suicide because of shame and that was not shown to be a moral choice either. Felix’s choice to stay behind and Burnham letting him because of shame and guilt is immoral and bad writing by previously established episodes. If you want an interesting Star Trek story about prisoners, I would suggest the Voyager episode Repentance, it’s much better written.
Also, its hilariously ironic you reeeee about grammar when you don’t know how capitalization works in the English language. You capitalize the first letter of every sentence FYI lol.... Though, oddly “God” is the only thing capitalized in your comment.

@@DMSProduktions then who was it. Because I remember CBS & Paramount being the ones to push to shut them down they couldn't make any trek worth while so they said nope Hollywood studio developments only or nothing.
Something that in Gene Roddenberry`s time would've been unheard of happening to a fan production.
Back then it was a way to grow with a fandom. Now it's just a chorus of capitalism. The suits never learn.
All they had to do is come to Axanar with a in good faith collaboration working with them.
Or something that showed they cared for thier community.
instead we got a half made comparmise that greatly diminished what could have been. I would have loved to see a full production of This Love letter to Star Trek.
CBS & Paramount have destoryed the faith fans had in them. At least those not in on the take.
Know we know they care only for money & thier version or no version of Trek. Way to show the fans who they really are. It's bad turn of events really.
In the 90s I grew up with not only stat trek though other paramount pictures including many CBS series.
They have fallen far from those glory years into something I do not want to have anything to do with.
Greater days are gone. Know we move on to greener pastures.
Make are own stories. The only move left is to show the way for something knew grander then what was before.
rest in peace those who made such a great community. May we never forget.

THIS is how Star Trek is supposed to be. The writing matters. The storytelling matters. The passions of the cast matter.
When one has a sense of purpose in making a production, it shows. When one has a love of Trek, it shows.

@@joshuairwin2016 I've love for that to happen, but legally, it's not nearly as easy to do as people might think. CBS would literally have to compensate each person who worked on each fan film or else pay a licensing fee to the fan films' various creators. And of course, they'd never do that because CBS owns Star Trek and shouldn't have to. But using the fan films in any kind of commercially profitable endeavor requires CBS to license them or else face potential lawsuits. Not that the fans would ever sue CBS, but their corporate lawyers would never take that chance.
Don't ask me who explained this to me because none of it is considered official. :-)

@@degreeO I think the Picard series is good also! As much as I loath CBS/Paramount, I have to hand it to the current production teams of those shows. They are doing a great job. That said, I think the Axanar series would be much better, because their production team and actors are passionate about what they are doing.

Between this and the prelude video I am sad to see how the production quality has suffered. The story is great, and it's clearly obvious how the limits put in place by paramount have affect the abilities of this story. That being said, this is an amazing work and I'm glad to see it!

The main reason I haven't subscribed to Paramount is because of how they treated these people. I can understand some of it to a certain extent, but there had to be a better compromise to make everyone happy. Paramount does not know what an opportunity they missed out on with this.

Agreed. I would rather have seen a full big-screen Axanar movie in theaters than Star Trek Fast and Furious, AKA Star Trek Beyond. There had to have been a way for CBS/Paramount to get Axanar into theaters and still get their cut of the profits, if they had only tried.

I dont agree that this is real star trek. For a Fan - Film its way to big. Cant relate to that in a sense of I can do this or be a part of something like that... The CGI is realy good but far from photorealistic it puts up a harsh contrast to the real-life scenes with "actors" and Sets... Would be more coherent with something full CG like star Wars the clonewars. The Sets are good. The acting is not so. Especialy Alec Peters is pure Cringe. The Writing is one-dimensional. To much heroic sacrifice and all that. If it was a real Fan-Film I could enjoy it but since there is a better than the Original Vibe coming from the makers and Supporters its failed from the get go.
For the Budget they got from Fans they could have make something great. This is a Pose not a Fan Film.
Sad. Had to get this of my chest.

Why do Starfleet need help from the Vulcan's for anyway.? They have always been the most useless spiece's In the Star Trek Universe. All they do Is criticize the Humans. Sure you got Spock Tpol Tuvok but I never once saw any Vulcan ship other than the one's In the Enterprise been any action or help Starfleet when they are In the tight spot In the other Star Trek tv shows. Andorian's and Klingons are more useful even though there like on and off allie's. Even the Ferengi's we're useful.
But great job on the video.

    • @jonathanlane1377

Vulcan is the oldest of the space-faring members of the Federation at the time. Their ships are fast, powerful, and very sturdy. After all, it's not logical to sacrifice safety and protection to save money when your society doesn't actually use money and everyone is provided for. (Yeah, Vulcans are most likely socialists...the needs of the many and all that.) Anyway, I'd much rather tackle the threat of the Klingon Empire WITH the Vulcans pitching in to help than without them.
      Glad you enjoyed the film.
