I used to have an entire bookmark folder of swords I wanted to buy. And then *YOU* introduced me to LK Chen and my list has shrunk considerably. I have the pleasure of already owning a Magnificent Chu and a Ribaldo (my first European Sword besides a couple rapiers) and I love them. Sometimes I wish I had gotten the Flying Phoenix instead of the Chu but overall I am happy with my purchases. If I had unlimited funds I would own one of every sword that LK makes. But right now I would like to get a Flying Phoenix, Roaring Dragon and a White Serpent.

Happy Birthday dudeski. I would agree with the gallowglass being one of my most desired swords to own, I love Irish culture and Celtic weaponry.

Happy Birthday!! The swords I’d like but never going to get would be Albion’s Kingmaker, and Tod Cutlery’s Swiss Sabre.

For em the sword I want most is that custom Napoleonic Khopesh idea I had for a custom made blade.

When you asked the question about what type of sword I would like to have if I could have it, I glanced over at my red-bladed katana and thought, "I've already got what I need."
It is the only sword I have always wanted and it will always be my favourite, I think. Aye, I would like very much to have an agile double-edged piece such as the Gallowglass, but I am so far satisfied with my red blade.

I hesitated too long and missed my chance to get Neil Burridge's Bronze Ewart Park Sword as well as Art of Fire and Iron's Beiyang Fleet Dagger! Still kicking myself about it 2 years later, and will probably keep kicking till I'm an old man.

One of the swords I would love to have and intend to get when I'm a fair bit older is a Burger sword cane. Genuine high end sword canes made in the US and they range from about $600 to $1700+ depending on the mechanism you choose, pommel and shaft material, customized engraving and inlay, etc... They also make a hiking staff with a hidden blade. I'm gonna be the old man that's always ready lol.

Happy birthday. I feel you for having to work on your birthday! What holidays!😂 I have the Anduril replica on the wall but I agree that glamdring is more ascetically pleasing. Still waiting on the rice and beans cooking video!

Happy birthday man! Swords of Northshire makes a battle ready Glamdring. It's got some surface level aesthetic differences but it very much is a lookalike. Made of folded 1095 high carbon steel and hand sharpened, $545 and comes with a matching hardwood scabbard. HS Blades Enterprise has one that can be customized from $100 basic wallhanger version to a $~550 battle ready high carbon steel version or better. There is also a great functional lookalike by Darksword Armory that is called The Sage, that one starts at $640.

I watched a YT short recently about a Jian that was, in part, made with meteoric iron.
That would be a sweet talking point I must admit.
Tutankhamun had a dagger made from meteoric iron, dated to c.1330 BC.

I was thinking about what i would like in a jian. They used to make seven star blades with brass plates inside that had steel wrapped around them this would cause the sword to be flexible yet strong. Damascus changed this. So if someone offered a Damascus blade that was differential hardened with a checker board pattern like a hitatsura hamon katana with a hardened edge in a jian at a reasonable price point around 200.00 with a mikugi peg handle and a big eyed butt for tassels. With all interchangeable parts. So you could change the theme of the sword without buying new blades they would probably start something new in the jian world. They already do this with Chinese dao swords but finding great blades is more custom then them. They are standardized in 108cm most times. However there are different types in different lengths. But the blades are often laminated in Damascus or other materials and the ones that are hardened are way more expensive and the hardening is sub par compared to other types of swords. Another thing i have been wondering is they make metal chops for older samurai swords with ray skin and scenery put on them why isn't someone making jian handles this way and making the handles with reliefs on them with shell inlays. Just things i wonder about. Also the chen swords look great and i like the tai chi style jians a review of on non han style swords might be a good thread.

Gandalf's sword Glamdring is an excellent choice. I love Gandalf in the books. While I like the films I'm not especially happy with Jackson's portrayal of Gandalf, especially in the extended edition.
    Happy birthday!

Slightly unrelated, but is there any benefit to practicing with a heavier sword like a batter in baseball putting a weight on his bat while practicing? Or will it mess up the accuracy of the technique and be counterproductive.
